Episode 162: Whirl Cup Finals
It is now the finals of the Whirl Cup. Sora and Trinity are counted as the eight finalists. Trinity has already won in the first battle before the finals, so it was now the fourth battle.
"We are now down to the final battle of the round, and only one of these two Trainers will be counted among the final four! Will it be Sora from Pallet Town, or will it be Eustace from Violet City? That is what we're here to find out!" The announcer announced. Sora stepped out along with a boy, wearing a fishing outfit and holding a fishing pole. Each took out a Lure Ball.
"Trainers! Same rules as the previous rounds! Three Pokémon each and the battle is over until all three are unable to continue battling! Choose and begin!" The referee instructed. They threw their Lure Balls.
"Go! Qwilfish!" Sora called out.
"Go! Lanturn!" Eustace called out.
Both Lure Balls opened and both fish Pokémon emerged from inside and onto the water. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned Lanturn.

The evolved form of Chinchou
Type: Water/Electric
Lanturn is nicknamed "the deep-sea star" for its illuminated antenna. This Pokémon produces light by causing a chemical reaction between bacteria and its bodily fluids inside the antenna.
"Okay, Lanturn's an Electric-type, too. Good thing I got Quagsire for backup," Sora said, putting his Pokédex away.
"Lanturn! Use Spark!" Eustace ordered. Lanturn charges at Qwilfish with its body emitting electricity.
"Eustace really wants to end this fast! He's starting out with a Spark!" The announcer announced.
"Qwilfish! Use Minimize!" Sora ordered. Qwilfish shrinks down to make it hard for Lanturn to hit Qwilfish.
"What a save! Qwilfish's Minimize will make it difficult for Lanturn to land a hit onto its opponent!" The announcer announced as Eustace scoffed.
"You can shrink your Pokémon all you want! That's not gonna stop me! Lanturn! Use Shock Wave!" Eustace ordered. Lanturn's bulbs glowed light yellow and sends out a stream of light yellow electricity, landing a heavy hit onto Qwilfish.
"A super-effective hit for Lanturn! It looks like Sora's Minimize strategy just been sunk!Shock Wave cannot be avoided!" The announcer announced.
"Qwilfish!" Sora exclaimed.
"Shock Wave again!" Eustace ordered. Lanturn fired another Shock Wave and it hits Qwilfish. He grew back to his normal size, resulting in a knockout.
"Qwilfish is unable to battle! Lanturn wins!" The referee announced.
"Eustace takes the early lead! What will Sora do to turn this around?" The announcer asked. Sora called Qwilfish back in his Lure Ball.
"Sorry about that, Qwilfish. I wouldn't have sent you out there if I knew that Lanturn knows Shock Wave," Sora said. He took out Quagsire's Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn now, Quagsire!" His Pokéball opened and Quagsire emerged from inside.
"Sora's second Pokémon is a Quagsire! Fortunately for Sora, Quagsire's resistance against Electric-type attacks will come in handy!" The announcer announced. Eustace calls back Lanturn. "Eustace is making a switch in Pokémon! He must be playing it safe!" He took out a Dive Ball and threw it.
"You're up, Politoed!" Eustace called out. His Dive Ball opened and Politoed emerged from inside.
"Eustace's second Pokémon is a Politoed! Ground-type moves won't be a problem for him!" The announcer announced.
"So much for Lanturn," Sora said.
"Eustace is really playing it safe since he knows Lanturn will be vulnerable against Quagsire's Ground-type moves," Tracey said.
"I'm sure Sora will find a way around it," Kairi said.
"Quagsire! Use Muddy Water!" Sora ordered. Quagsire spews Muddy Water right at Politoed.
"I don't think so! Politoed! Dodge it by using Bounce!" Eustace ordered. Politoed jumped in the air to dodge Quagsire's Muddy Water.
"Politoed dodges Quagsire's Muddy Water just by using Bounce! A close save!" The announcer announced. Politoed comes down. "And here comes Politoed!"
"In the water!" Sora called out. Quagsire dodges by jumping in the water to avoid Politoed's attack.
"Two can play this game! In the water, Politoed!" Eustace ordered. Politoed jumped in the water.
"Politoed is pursuing Quagsire in the water! Both of these amphibious Pokémon are on equal terms!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Politoed! Mega Punch!" Eustace ordered.
"Quagsire! Muddy Water!" Sora ordered. Quagsire fired Muddy Water and lands a hit onto Politoed, pushing it out of the water. Now Politoed had mud in its eyes. Politoed tried to wipe them off its eyes.
"Politoed appears to be having trouble seeing!" The announcer announced.
"Use Mud Bomb!" Sora ordered. Quagsire fired Mud Bomb at Politoed, landing a hit and resulting in a knockout.
"Politoed is unable to battle! Quagsire wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora has taken down Quagsire, leaving two remaining! Will Eustace send Lanturn back out or will he use a different Pokémon?" The announcer asked. Eustace took out another Dive Ball and threw it.
"Go! Dewgong!" Eustace called out. Dewgong came out and lands on a platform.
"Eustace has sent out a Dewgong as his third Pokémon!" The announcer announced. Sora called Quagsire back and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Golduck!" Sora called out. His Golduck came out, ready to battle.
"Sora's third Pokémon is a Golduck! I wonder how this'll turn out!" The announcer announced.
"Dewgong! Use Ice Beam!" Eustace ordered. Dewgong fired Ice Beam right at Golduck.
"Use Psychic!" Sora ordered. Golduck uses Psychic to block Dewgong's Ice Beam. Golduck sends it back to Dewgong, landing a hit.
"Golduck makes good use its Psychic against Dewgong's Ice Beam! For an Ice-type, that has to be cold!" The announcer announced.
"Dewgong! Use Headbutt!" Eustace ordered. Dewgong darts towards Golduck to land a Headbutt.
"Use Fury Swipes!" Sora ordered. Golduck rushed at Dewgong and slashed at the Sea Lion Pokémon four times.
"Ooh, this doesn't look good for Dewgong!" The announcer announced.
"Okay, Golduck! Use Aqua Tail!" Sora ordered. Golduck swung his tail while it's emitting water and struck Dewgong hard. Dewgong fell backwards, beaten.
"Dewgong is unable to battle! Golduck wins!" The referee announced.
"Wow! Golduck has taken Dewgong without a sweat! Eustace is now down to his last Pokémon, so this is his last chance to turn things around!" The announcer announced. Eustace took out his Lure Ball and threw it.
"Go! Lanturn!" Eustace called out. Lanturn came back out to battle.
"And Lanturn has been sent back out to battle!" The announcer announced. Sora called Golduck back and he took out Quagsire's Pokéball and threw it.
"Quagsire! Back to action!" Sora called out. Quagsire emerged from inside, ready to go.
"Electric-type attacks won't effect Quagsire, so I'll have to wing it! Lanturn! Use Signal Beam!" Eustace ordered. Lanturn fired Signal Beam right at Quagsire.
"Lanturn fires Signal Beam right at Quagsire!" The announcer announced.
"Dodge and use Mud Bomb!" Sora ordered. Quagsire dodges and fired Mud Bomb, hitting Lanturn. "Okay, Quagsire! Use Slam!" Quagsire grabbed Lanturn and slammed the Light Pokémon on the platform, dealing some damage. The impact of Slam has resulted in a knockout.
"Lanturn is unable to battle! Quagsire wins! The winner is Sora!" The referee announced.
"Sora will now be moving on in the finals! Our next battle will begin soon!" The announcer announced.
Sora exited the battlefield, being greeted by Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, and the Pichu waiting for him.
"Nice job out there, Sora!" Kairi said.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Thanks, Kairi. That means a lot coming from you," Sora said.
"Where's Tracey?" Sora asked.
"He's with Trinity, going over her Pokémon's conditions before her match. I told him I'll meet him when we get back to our seats," Kairi said.
"Sounds like something Tracey would do," Sora said as he chuckled.
Just when the couple and the Pokémon stepped out to get to their seats when Togepi spotted something in the sky above them.
"Toge, Toge, Toge, Toge, Toge, Toge, Toge!" Togepi chirped repeatedly. This alarms Kairi.
"Togepi, what's wrong?" Kairi asked.
Pikachu and Angel looked at what the Spike Ball Pokémon was looking at. They both exclaimed at what they saw.
"Pika!" Pikachu exclaimed.
"Eevee!" Angel exclaimed.
"Pikachu, Angel, what's wrong?" Sora asked. Kairi turned to see what they were looking at, turning out to be Team Rocket's balloon.
"Sora, look!" Kairi gasped. Sora and the Pichu turned to look to see Team Rocket's balloon, floating above Maya and her guards.
"It's Team Rocket!" Sora shouted.
"What are they doing here?!" Kairi asked.
"I don't know, but I think I know what they're here for! The Sea Spirit!" Sora said.
"You're right. It sounds like something they would try to steal!" Kairi said.
"Not of if we have anything to say about it!" Sora said.
With that said, Sora, Kairi, and the Pokémon rushed to foil Team Rocket's plan.
Not too far, Chester spots their balloon in the air.
"Sir, look! It's them!" Chester exclaimed. Mullock turned with a slice of pizza close to his mouth. He grinned before he could take a bite.
"Gotcha," Mullock said.
Trinity has taken her spot in the battlefield as well as her opponent.
"Our next battle is about to begin! On my left is Trinity, and on my right, we have Zack! Both of these two have been climbing up the ranks, and only one of them will be moving on in the final round!" The announcer announced.
"I hear the fishing's good here," Meowth said.
"Then let's drop anchor!" Jessie said. They all take out fishing poles.
"For you folks reading this, here's the play-by-play," James said, breaking the fourth wall.
"And today, we'll be going after the biggest catch of them all! The Sea Spirit Sapphire!" Jessie said, pointing her fishing pole outwards. She lowers her hook attached to a Wobbufet lure. "Here goes." The hook got closer to the Sea Spirit when Maya is watching the battle about to start. She successfully hooks the Sea Spirit. "Got it!"
"Angel! Use Iron Tail to cut the line!" Kairi ordered.
"Eevee!" Angel said as she cuts through the fishing line. Team Rocket gasps when their catch is no longer hooked.
"Nice try, Team Rocket! Your plan was gonna fail one way or the other!" Sora called out. Everyone turned to see the hot air balloon. Trinity turned to see what everyone else was looking at when they spotted the balloon.
"Who are they?" Trinity asked.
"I don't think I believe what I'm seeing, but a hot air balloon carrying three suspicious fishermen is hovering above the Sea Spirit!" The announcer announced.
"So it must have been Team Rocket that made that threatening phone call," Officer Jenny said.
"What? Why am I not surprised?" Sora facepalmed.
"We told you to prepare for trouble!"
"And then you went and made it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jessie!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth! That's right!"
"Wobbufet!"
"Mime, Mime!"
"Our plan worked to get all the guards surrounding the Sea Spirit and we swoop from above," James said.
"But, it would've gone smoother if you didn't come sticking your noses in our places," Meowth said.
"We would be glad to stick our noses to stop you!" Sora said.
"Why do you even want it in the first place?" Kairi asked.
"The Sea Spirit is a beautiful jewel and it should belong to someone who is truly more beautiful; and that is me," Jessie said.
"No one has ever been able to take the Sea Spirit away from its home," Maya said calmly.
"Then you obviously don't know who you're dealing with, your highness! Allow me to introduce myself!" Jessie said. Sora and Kairi took out their Lure Balls and threw them in the air.
"Go! Qwilfish!" Sora called out.
"Corsola! Go!" Kairi called out. Corsola came right out.
Both Pokémon came out to assist.
"Use Spike Cannon!" Kairi ordered.
"Fire Pin Missile!" Sora ordered.
Both Pokémon fired Spike Cannon and Pin Missile at the ballon, to their dismay. The balloon loses air and they go flying around.
"All of that effort for nothing!" James said.
"I knew there was something fishy about this plan!" Meowth exclaimed.
"No! My Sea Spirit!" Jessie cried.
The balloon crashes right in front of Mullock and Chester. They crawl out from under the balloon.
"Well, well, well, lady luck's smiling on me today! I get to arrest the Team Rocket rejects here and now! I know it's not Christmas and it's not my birthday, so I'm very happy," Mullock said.
"It truly is a happy day for you, sir," Chester said.
"Crap! It's that fat detective that almost had me back at my folks' home!" James exclaimed.
"How did they find us?!" Meowth asked.
"Who cares?! Just run!" Jessie yelled.
Team Rocket ran off.
"Freeze!" Mullock yelled as he and Chester gave chase.
"You're under arrest!" Chester shouted after them.
"Another plan that was gonna fall apart," Sora said. Maya stood up.
"I am grateful to the both of you for defending the Sea Spirit from those thieves," Maya said.
"We were just lucky that we noticed right away," Sora said.
"And those three are about to get what they deserve out of it," Kairi said.
Over to Team Rocket, they keep on running as Mullock and Chester still chased after them.
"Freeze! What, you got wax in your ears?! Freeze means stop!" Mullock yelled after them.
"By order of the international police, you are ordered to stop in the name of the law!" Chester added.
"How can someone so fat run so fast?!" James exclaimed.
"He must be picturing us as breakfast, lunch, and dinner, that's how!" Meowth said.
"Will you two shut up?! We're trying to avoid going to prison!" Jessie said.
"Make it easy for yourselves and give it up!" Mullock shouted.
"They're gonna catch us!" Meowth said.
"How about we make like the Three Stooges and spread out!" Jessie said. And they did by running in three different directions.
"Those three lowlives are really getting to me!" Mullock growled.
"May I suggest we split up to pursue them, sir?" Chester asked.
"You go one way, I'll go the other!" Mullock said.
The international police officers ran in two different directions.
Team Rocket met up with each other once they lost their pursuers and panted.
"We literally had the Sea Spirit in reach and we lost it all because the twerpy couple butted in again! It's already bad enough that they were the reason that our debt got tripled on us!" Jessie cried.
"It would have been worse if the boss finds out that we had no intentions of paying our debts," Meowth said.
"Right, because we're in hot water enough as it is, and we didn't need that detective chasing after us!" James said.
"How did the international police even know where to find us in the first place?" Meowth asked.
"Someone must have recognized us, that's how," Jessie said.
"We better get out of here while we still can, because the local cops are probably looking for us, too," James said.
"Right," Jessie and Meowth agreed as Team Rocket started to run off.
"We're blasting off again!" Team Rocket exclaimed as they ran.
The battle ends with Trinity as the winner, so she was gonna face Sora in the last round. Sora knew she was gonna be difficult to beat, so he thinks of which one to send out. He thought of using Tentacruel since Sora didn't use him yet, and the same can be said for Blastoise and Feraligatr.
"Okay, change in team complete," Sora said.
"Did you make up your mind about which one to use, Sora?" Tracey asked.
"I was thinking of sending out Blastoise, Feraligatr, and Tentacruel for this one," Sora said.
"I've seen her in action, so she'll give you a real run for your money," Tracey said.
"That I already know, but you're right. I'm just gonna push just as hard," Sora said.
"Win or lose, you're still number one to me," Kairi said. She kissed his cheek. "For luck." Sora blushed.
"Thanks, Kairi. That always means a lot," Sora said.
Sora and Kairi held hands very lovingly as did Pikachu and Angel.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said in a loving tone.
"Eevee," Angel replied in the same loving fashion. Togepi and the Pichu blushed at the romance taking place as Tracey chuckled nervously.
"Oh boy," Tracey said.
The final battle is now underway as Kairi, Tracey, and the Pokémon took their seats and Sora and Trinity bumped into each other.
"Sora, I just wanted to wish you luck out there," Trinity said.
"You too, Trinity. Throw everything you got at me," Sora said.
"Just make sure you don't end up regretting it," Trinity said.
They shook hands, promising each other a good battle. They entered the battlefield, ready to give each other what they promised.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the concluding battle of the Whirl Cup is about to begin! On my left is the Champion of the Indigo Plateau Pokémon League is Sora Ketchum from Pallet Town, and the right is Trinity from right here in Scarlet City! Both these Trainers gave us quite a show in the Whirl Cup, so only one of them will win the tournament and the title of Water Pokémon Alpha Omega!" The announcer announced as the crowd roared. The referee entered the battlefield to begin the final battle.
"Same rules same as the last time! Three Pokémon each and the battle will be over when all three of either Trainer's Pokémon is unable to battle! Choose your Pokémon and begin!" The referee instructed. Sora and Trinity each took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Gyarados!" Trinity called out. Her Gyarados came out with a roar.
"Go! Tentacruel!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened and Tentacruel came out with a swirl of stars.
"Trinity's first Pokémon is a Gyarados while Sora has chosen a Shiny Tentacruel! This shall be a good battle between them!" The announcer announced.
"Gyarados! Use Hydro Pump!" Trinity ordered. Gyarados fired Hydro Pump at the Jellyfish Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Poison Sting!" Sora ordered. Tentacruel dodges Gyarados's attack and fired Poison Sting at Gyarados.
"Hyper Beam!" Trinity ordered. Gyarados fired Hyper Beam to block Tentacruel's Poison Sting.
"Not only does Tentacruel dodges that Hydro Pump, but Gyarados uses Hyper Beam to block Poison Sting! Because Gyarados used Hyper Beam, it won't be able to attack again right away!" The announcer announced.
"Tentacruel! Use Poison Jab!" Sora ordered. Tentacruel extends his tentacles and struck the Atrocious Pokémon on the underbelly. "Use Hydro Pump!" Tentacruel fired Hydro Pump and hits Gyarados.
"You think you can take Gyarados down fast just because she won't be able attack again after using Hyper Beam? Think again! Gyarados! Use Dragon Dance!" Gyarados's body becomes surrounded in swirling purple clouds of energy and it spins around several times. Orange energy then shoots up from the ground around Gyarados, enhancing its attack power and speed.
"Gyarados's attack and speed has now gone up thanks to that Dragon Dance!" The announcer announced.
"Uh-oh. Gyarados's attack has grown stronger and much faster with that Dragon Dance," Tracey said.
"And that can be bad for Sora when that Gyarados attacks again," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Gyarados! Use Dragon Pulse!" Trinity ordered. Gyarados unleashed Dragon Pulse and struck Tentacruel hard, resulting in a knockout.
"Tentacruel is unable to battle! Gyarados wins!" The referee announced.
"Trinity wins the first round of the final battle, leaving Sora only two more left to use!" The announcer announced as Sora calls Tentacruel back.
"Don't sweat it, Tentacruel. You did your best, and you earned a good rest," Sora said. He took out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Your turn now, Feraligatr!" His Pokéball opened and his Feraligatr emerged from inside.
"Sora's second Pokémon is Feraligatr! Will Feraligatr be able to finish what Tentacruel started?" The announcer asked.
"Gyarados! Use Dragon Pulse!" Trinity ordered.
"Feraligatr! Use Ice Fang!" Sora ordered. Feraligatr lands an icy bite onto Gyarados, leaving a small piece of ice on her back. Gyarados was now cold from the ice.
"Use Hyper Beam!" Trinity ordered. Gyarados tried to fire Hyper Beam, but she was having trouble doing so because of she was cold. That was when Trinity noticed the ice on Gyarados's back. "Feraligatr left that there when it gave her that Ice Fang!"
"Use Slash!" Sora ordered. Feraligatr slashed Gyarados before she could fire Hyper Beam and resulted in a knockout.
"Gyarados is unable to battle! Feraligatr wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora takes Gyarados down after a fierce battle!" The announcer announced as Trinity calls Gyarados back.
"You battled well. Get some rest," Trinity said. She took out her Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Golduck!" Her Pokéball opened and a Golduck came out.
"Trinity's second Pokémon is a Golduck! Will Sora switch Pokémon or will he be sticking with Feraligatr?" The announcer asked. Sora calls Feraligatr back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Blastoise!" Sora called out. Blastoise came out to battle.
"Sora's third Pokémon is his Blastoise! What kind of battle will it show against Trinity's Golduck?" The announcer asked.
"Blastoise! Use Ice Punch!" Sora ordered.
"Golduck! Ice Punch!" Trinity ordered.
Both Water-type Pokémon gave each other an Ice Punch in the face. They started to turn it into a regular boxing match. Icicles were flying around them.
"Blastoise and Golduck have turned this battle into an icy boxing match!" The announcer announced.
"Use Flash Cannon!" Sora ordered. Blastoise fired Flash Cannon right at Golduck.
"Use Shadow Claw!" Trinity ordered. Golduck dodged and slashed Blastoise with a Shadow Claw. "Use Water Pulse!" Golduck gave Blastoise a Water Pulse blast, resulting in Blastoise being confused.
"Uh-oh! Blastoise is now confused! That's what Water Pulse can do to you!" The announcer announced.
"Snap out of it, Blastoise!" Sora called out. Blastoise started to stumble around in confusion as several Pidgey flew around his head.
"This isn't good! Blastoise is having trouble keeping his balance!" Kairi gasped.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Use Ice Punch!" Trinity ordered. Golduck lands an Ice Punch Blastoise.
"Use Dragon Pulse!" Sora ordered. Blastoise tried to follow Sora's instructions, but he hurts himself in his confusion.
"It's not looking good for Sora's Blastoise! It hurts itself in its confusion, so it doesn't look like Blastoise is gonna last if this keeps up!" The announcer announced.
"Use Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered. Despite being confused, Blastoise fires Hydro Pump, hitting Golduck on the mark.
"Blastoise lands a huge hit with that Hydro Pump!" The announcer announced. Blastoise snaps out of his confusion. "And it looks like Blastoise shook that confusion off!"
"Dragon Pulse!" Sora ordered. Blastoise unleashed Dragon Pulse, hitting Golduck hard.
"Blastoise gives Golduck a hit with that Dragon Pulse!" The announcer announced as Golduck fell on its back, beaten.
"Golduck is unable to battle! Blastoise wins!" The announcer announced.
"It looks like Sora's making a big comeback against Trinity! She's now down to one Pokémon!" The announcer announced as Trinity calls back Golduck.
"You gave it your all, Golduck, and I'm proud of you," Trinity said. She looked at Sora, impressed.
"Not too shabby, Sora. You're really giving it to me out here. Let's see how you handle my last Pokémon. Go! Chinchou!" Trinity called out.
"Trinity's final Pokémon is a Chinchou! She has gained the type advantage in this match, so we will see how he'll manage!" The announcer announced.
"I know Chinchou is an Electric-type Pokémon, so I know I'm gonna be in for a nasty surprise," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Chinchou! Use Thunderbolt!" Trinity ordered.
"Dodge and use Hydro Pump!" Sora ordered.
Chinchou fired Thunderbolt, so Blastoise dodges and fires Hydro Pump, but Chinchou jumps out of the way, much to Sora's surprise. Chinchou fires another Thunderbolt, shocking Blastoise.
"Chinchou not only dodges after a failed first attack, but it successfully lands an attack on the second try!" The announcer announced.
"Use Flash Cannon!" Sora ordered.
"Use Confuse Ray!" Trinity ordered. Chinchou unleashed Confuse Ray, confusing Blastoise again.
"Not again!" Sora exclaimed.
"Blastoise is confused again!" The announcer announced.
"Use Spark!" Trinity ordered. Chinchou gave the Shellfish Pokémon an electrified tackle.
"A super-effective hit!" The announcer announced.
"Use Ice Punch!" Sora ordered. Blastoise attempts to give Chinchou an icy punch, but he punches himself in his confusion, knocking himself out.
"Blastoise is unable to battle! Chinchou wins!" The referee announced.
"Sora's comeback was now cut short, leaving Sora only one more Pokémon left to use!" The announcer announced as Sora calls back Blastoise.
"Good effort, Blastoise. Can't win 'em all," Sora said. He took out Feraligatr's Pokéball and threw it. "Feraligatr! Back to action!" His Pokéball opened Feraligatr came back out to battle.
"Feraligatr is sent back out to battle against Trinity's Chinchou!" The announcer announced.
"Use Confuse Ray!" Trinity ordered. Chinchou fired Confuse Ray at the Big Jaw Pokémon, but he just grinned.
"Not falling for that again! Feraligatr! In the water!" Sora called out. Feraligatr jumped in the water to dodge. "How do you like them apples?"
"You're not getting away that easily. Chinchou! Use Confuse Ray in the water!" Trinity ordered. Sora was caught off guard. Chinchou sticks its antennae in the water and the water gave off a light purple glow.
"It looks like Sora's escape plan has just been sunk!" The announcer announced. Feraligatr emerged from the water, confused. "And Feraligatr is now confused!"
"Use Spark!" Trinity ordered. Chinchou charges at Feraligatr, landing a hit, shocking Feraligatr.
"Use Slash!" Sora ordered.
"Thunderbolt!" Trinity ordered. Chinchou unleashed Thunderbolt, shocking Feraligatr again, resulting in a knockout.
"Feraligatr is unable to battle! Chinchou wins! The winner is Trinity!" The referee announced.
"And it's Trinity who brings home the gold!" The announcer announced. Sora calls Feraligatr back inside and smiled.
"You did your best, and that's all that matters," Sora said.
After the battle, Lana, Misty, and the other competitors stood in boats for the closing ceremonies
"Days of fierce competition has brought us to the end of the Whirl Cup and the final closing ceremonies! And now the honorable Maya will present the Mystic Water pendant to Trinity!" The announcer announced.
Sora and Trinity stood before Maya as she presented Trinity the Mystic Water pendant.
"Trinity. You and your Pokémon have done wonderfully well. The commitment and dedication that you have displayed has truly touched me. For those reasons, you have proven yourself to be worthy of being recognized as Water Pokémon Alpha Omega. It is an honor to reward you the Mystic Water pendant," Maya said, giving Sora the Mystic Water. Trinity accepted her prize.
"Thank you," Trinity said. She raises the Mystic Water above his head. Maya smiled kindly to Trinity.
"A new sea hero has been born!" The announcer announced. Misty, Lana, and the rest of the competitors applauded with the crowd. Kairi, Tracey Pikachu, Angel, Togepi, the Pichu, applauded as well. Kairi was especially proud of Sora even if he didn't win.
Maya took her place and raises the Sea Spirit sapphire above her head.
"Oh, great Sea Spirit and past heroes of the sea! Please continue to watch over the Whirl Cup competition and the harmony between humans and Pokémon alike!" Maya prayed. The Sea Spirit gave off a blue glow in the setting sun's light.
After the Whirl Cup had concluded, Sora, Kairi, Tracey, the Pokémon, Misty, Lana, and Trinity stood on the cliff and watched the platforms sink into the water, but the pillars still remained.
"Congratulations on winning the tournament, Trinity," Sora said.
"Thank you, Sora. You're one of the toughest opponents I have ever had. And I am lookin forward in battling you again in the future," Trinity said.
"Yeah, me too," Sora said, shaking her hand.
"Now that the Whirl Cup's over, what are you three gonna do?" Lana asked.
"We'll be heading back to Olivine City for that Gym battle that's waited long enough," Sora said.
"I'm sure Sakura misses us like crazy," Kairi said.
"Yeah," Sora agreed.
"Well, I'll be heading back home Cerulean City. There are probably some impatient Trainers wanting a Gym battle against me," Misty said.
"And I'm going to head back home to Akala Island. I'm gonna share the news about meeting Riku's friend and rival when I get home," Lana said.
"I hope we can meet you again, Lana," Kairi said.
"Me too. Someday," Lana said with a smile.
With that, they all started to go their separate ways. The mission was now getting back to Olivine City for Sora's sixth Gym battle against Jasmine. But what adventure could be waiting for our friends on Silver Rock Isle before we get to Olivine City? Just wait and see what happens next.
