At Buckingham Palace, Imra Ardeen was invited for talks. She was escorted inside by Brainiac 5 drones immune to her telepathy and then entered a conference room where she met Kara, Mon, and Nura all in uniform. One Brainiac 5 drone took a seat at the head of the table with Kara, Mon, and Nura across from Imra.
"I think I have the full picture now," Imra smirked, having read a great many minds on her way to the palace.
"I'm surprised you can speak. There were rumors you are mute and communicate only telepathically," Brainiac 5 said.
"Vicious lies!" Imra spat. "Brave of you to meet with me knowing what I can do," she said calming down.
"Actually, I am immune to your telepathy and my Myriad device counteracts your ability," Brainiac 5 informed her.
"Well, aren't you prepared?" Imra frowned.
"I saw a possible future where you might want to sack this world for yourself," Nura said suspiciously.
"A Naltorian, a Kryptonian, a Jin-Saiyan, a Coluan, and humans working together," Imra smiled amused. "You didn't need to bring me to this world with a warp signature from some primitive rocket. You could have just called."
"We were empowering the humans and testing to see if Nura's prediction came true," Kara said defensively.
"So, now that you have my attention, what do you want from me?" Imra asked.
"We have a Mimic infestation on this world. We've destroyed the omega hive mind but there are millions roaming around. Killing them all has been a frustrating game of whack-a-mole. We want you to help us find them and destroy them," Mon said.
"What do you take me for? A security officer? I'm a diplomat and the heir of House Ardeen. I'm a fucking big deal," Imra resisted.
Kara smirked liking Imra's spunk. "In return for helping us, we will help you with what you want most."
"We have insights into your Emperor's next move. Let's just say without us, your house is fucked," Nura said coyly.
"Like what?" Imra asked slightly alarmed.
"It has something to do with the Harkonnens and the spice. Probably very minor," Nura said coyly.
"Bullshit. You can only predict things related to you," Imra said.
"Once you arrived on Earth, I got a vision," Nura replied.
"If you get me killed under false pretenses, my house will avenge me. This planet will be a molten ball," Imra threatened.
"After the successful extermination of the Mimics, we will accompany you to your world to give support," Brainiac 5 offered. "Your house need not be destroyed."
Imra looked at everyone present as they put on their best poker faces. "Very well. What is your plan?"
Brainiac 5 invited Imra to a large dome structure, the Cerebro. "This room will amplify your powers so you can locate Mimic positions," Brainiac 5 said and then handed her a helmet.
"It's like you expected my arrival," Imra said suspiciously. "Where are the others?"
"Mon is in France, Kara is in Greece, and Nura is in Italy," Brainiac 5 informed her. "This room will allow you to peer into the minds of every living organism on the planet with your telepathy but it also records your thoughts. We're trusting you but we will verify."
"A wise precaution," Imra allowed as she put on the helmet. "Let's take a look."
Immediately, a hologram of the world appeared in front of them with white lights indicating every human being on the planet. There was then a patch of red lights in Europe for the Mimics. Brainiac 5 quickly recorded and analyzed each individual red light as Europe zoomed in. Brainiac 5 then communicated orders to other drones in the field who, in turn, gave orders to human military units.
Imra winced as she felt overwhelmed by the thoughts and feelings that were entering her mind. Brainiac 5 then deactivated the machine. "Holy shit," she said stunned.
"We will need periodical updates on the situation," Brainiac 5 told her.
"I'm going to need some of that...coffee," Imra requested.
Kara landed on Themyscira and found only ruins. Scanning the entire island, she found no one alive. Only bones and their armor were left behind. Kara looked upon the bones of Queen Hippolyta still wearing her crown and broken female statues everywhere. Their stadium was in a state of disrepair. Frowning, Kara considered plans for archeological missions to the island. Launching off the island, she went straight for the Greek mainland and received radio messages on Mimic positions. Immediately, the fields were on fire as Kara fired on the ground uprooting the Mimics.
Kara landed on the ground and was immediately swarmed with Mimics. In a flash of light, they were incinerated around her. Kara then met up with the human armies assembled in Athens. "We're going to move towards Istanbul and cut the Mimics in half at the strait," Kara informed her human commanders. "We will contain the Mimics in the Middle East with our troops in Jerusalem and Baghdad."
Nura and Brainiac 5 led the Italian army against the Mimics in the Alps. Italian artillery fired on Mt. Škabrijel where the Mimics were held up in the trenches and tunnel systems. After a long barrage, the Mimics fired their own artillery of fireballs back. Over the following days, Nura would warn Brainiac 5 to pull back his troops when she saw a vision of a Mimic counterattack. Even so, the front became stalemated.
In France, Mon purged the Mimics out of France, Belgium, and the Netherlands and entered into Germany. With greater aggression and men, Mon took little time entering central Germany and racking up a large kill count. The Mimics started fighting with guerrilla attacks rather than fighting Mon on the battlefield. They would often hide underground, in the forests, or inside abandoned structures. Imra would give continuous reports on their locations with Mon zipping around Europe to kill them with his instant transmission.
After several days, Imra was exhausted with a bloody nose as her mind was fried. Brainiac 5 would monitor her vitals and continually inject her with drugs to keep her alert so she could continue. "No more," Imra said freaking out.
"Every hour you rest, thousands of humans perish in this war. Continue, please," Brainiac 5 told her.
Imra nodded and then put the helmet back on.
Kara crossed the Cma River and destroyed the Mimic defenders allowing the Greek army to take the other side. At Dorian Lake, she annihilated the Mimics with non-stop heat vision beams with accurate fire. Kara and her armies took Bulgaria and it wasn't long before Kara cut the Mimics off at Istanbul isolating the Mimics in the Middle East with Europe. Once she was certain the humans could guard the strait appropriately, Kara led her armies from Jerusalem up into Syria. Mon's aggression in Germany sent the Mimics towards Italy. Nura put up an energy forcefield around the Italian army as the Mimics charged forward. She then pushed them back a few miles and let the Italian artillery blast them. Nura then projected herself thousands of times across the battlefield, luring the Mimics out of hiding. As the Mimics attacked her astral projections, the humans lit them up.
In London, Brainiac 5 continued to modify Cerebro as Imra looked like a wreck. "How does it look from there, Imra? Fighting the good fight?"
"Fuck...you," Imra said tiredly.
"It doesn't appear these Mimics are playing by the rules," Brainiac 5 considered. "Perhaps we should play by theirs. There's been a change of plans. I want you to kill all the Mimics."
"I don't know if I can," Imra said uncertainly.
"I have made some modifications to Cerebro. Try it now," Brainiac 5 told her.
"When they die, I'll feel every death," Imra said wide-eyed.
"I know," Brainiac 5 said unconcernedly.
The hologram of the world became red as Imra focused on the kill order. Brainiac 5 carefully monitored Imra to make sure didn't kill the humans instead. All over Europe, the Mimics felt their minds go in seizure and deactivate. The red lights on the hologram globe began to disappear. Imra bled from her nose and eyes as she kept it up killing all the hidden Mimics all over the world. Finally, Imra got rid of the last red light and collapsed.
Brainiac 5 quickly took the helmet off her head and ordered his drones to give Imra medical care. The Mimic War was over.
London
Kara, Mon, and Nura met up with Brainiac 5 as Imra recovered. "Too much stress on her mind will cause aneurysms, seizures, memory loss, and other neurological issues. I have been able to stabilize her mind but the experience of killing so many may alter her psychologically permanently," Brainiac 5 reported.
"I know what you mean," Kara said upon recalling her first kills.
"We should destroy her," Nura said seriously.
"Say what?" Kara thought she misheard.
"These...Titans are assholes. They control the spice trade," Nura said.
"What do you do with this spice? Snort it?" Kara wondered.
"Precisely. It's a powerful stimulant and very addictive. The Titans demanded trade with the Khunds. When they were rebuffed, the Titans destroyed their fleet, invaded their lands, and forced the trade of spice on them. Now, the Khunds are addicted to this shit while the Titans profit. Many Khunds suffer and die from it," Nura told them.
"Holy shit. Barney, were you aware of this?" Kara asked aghast.
"Of course," he said nonchalantly.
"Where is the source of this spice?" Kara asked.
"It's on Arakis, a desert planet. Also, the Titans routinely slaughter the natives of that planet," Nura added.
"But where does the spice come from specifically? Like, a plant?" Kara asked.
"It comes from the sand," Brainiac 5 answered.
"How can you get spice from the sand? That doesn't make any sense. What the fuck?" Kara wondered.
"You really want to know?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Yeah, spit it out," Kara demanded.
"On Arakis, there are giant worms 400 meters long and 40 meters wide. They excrete spice as they move through the sand. The sand is then filtered for the spice which is then processed. The native inhabitants receive a natural high just by inhaling sand and spice particles in the air," Brainiac 5 explained.
"I don't approve of getting high off something that came out of a giant worm's ass," Mon determined.
"I...might have to agree with that," Kara frowned.
"I don't see how it's relevant. The production of the spice is several steps removed from the origin of where it came from," Brainiac 5 argued.
"You just want us to get high so you can study our reaction to it," Kara accused.
"I vote she lives. She has a unique set of skills, has proven to be lethal as fuck, and is also hawt," Mon said.
Kara gave him a jealous eye. "I also see her as an asset," Brainiac 5 agreed.
"You know how I feel," Nura rejected.
"We are...what the fuck are we?" Kara wondered.
"We need a name," Mon nodded.
"Yes...but later. We made a deal. We should honor it this time. After all, we have an opportunity to end the spice trade from the inside," Kara suggested.
"If your plan ends the spice trade and gets Titans killed, I'm in," Nura agreed.
"Imra will need some time to recover," Brainiac 5 said ending the discussion.
Kara kept herself busy with her super-speed. There were limits to how fast she could work as material things would disintegrate in her fingers and under her feet if she went too fast. While humans walked around in slow-motion, Kara sent out emails and directives to bureaucratic agencies throughout the dominion. While individual Brainiac 5 drones couldn't keep up with her speed, they could send her electronic communications and data at her speed or faster. With the war over, Kara started installing friendly puppet governments and increasing her dominion.
In Metropolis, the army that was supposed to go to Europe was disbanded and the draft ended. However, the Metropolis Coast Guard and Ari Squadron were established. Kara worked with engineers and construction workers on opening a subway system in Metropolis. Boxing matches became a thing again in Metropolis with Kara and Mon often attending. Kara also held her first execution in Metropolis. Under a new legal code written by Brainiac 5 and edited by Kara, convicted criminals would be fined, exiled, or executed for infractions, misdemeanors, and felonies. In this case, a man poisoned his in-laws with arsenic to gain his wife's inheritance while also having an affair with another woman. The man was given a trial with a Brainiac 5 drone acting as a judge. The jury made up of humans convicted him in March of that year.
Kara brought out the convicted murderer after giving him sufficient time to convert to a religion, confess his sins, and spiritually repent. She then motioned for him to be hanged in public for anyone to see. By Kara's design, the murderer was hung but not from such a height that it would break his neck. He squirmed on the rope for a good while. Kara then fired heat vision on him lighting him on fire. As the public watched in silence, the murderer shook until he was dead. Kara then blew away the flames.
"When you do the autopsy...tell me if he died by suffocation or the flames," Kara asked curiously to Brainiac 5.
In Atlanta, Kara blew out a large fire and rescued as many survivors as she could. She also dissipated a tornado over Illinois before it could do too much damage. Kara would intervene in disasters all over the world that wasn't even present in her dominion as a gesture of goodwill. Nura, on occasion, would warn Kara of a disaster right before it would happen.
In Rome, Brainiac 5 published the 3017 Canon Law supposedly based on Biblical morality in Latin so hardly anyone could read it. Brainiac 5 started recruiting humans to be his cardinals, bishops, and priests. In a compromise, Brainiac 5 created terms of service for these positions. When a priest's term of service was up, he could decide to reenlist or be reassigned to another position. If he opted to be reassigned, he could then marry and have a family. If a priest ended up caught in an affair or other serious moral issue, he would be immediately be reassigned or put on trial.
At the same time, Brainiac 5 faced a theological challenge. In Portugal, three teenagers claimed to have sighted the Virgin Mary and started creating a considerable following. There were also lesser-known and less credible sightings of saints all over Europe. The clergy came before Brainiac 5 on what to do about them.
"What should we do about these visions, Your Holiness?" one bishop asked.
"Remain neutral unless it's obviously a fraud. If the Lord wishes to move my hand, He knows the way," Brainiac 5 ordered. "Do you not endorse any of these visions without my approval."
In Mexico, Bolivia, Brainiac 5 manipulated these elections to give himself politically and religiously-friendly presidents. A Romanian socialist leader was assassinated and mutinies were inspired all over France to weaken it.
England
Brainiac 5 and Kara sat down in an office inside a drone-making factory. "Currently, we're producing 25 drones per one thousand people in this country for a total annual production of roughly 50,000 drones. In time, we may be able to increase the efficiency to 75 drones per one thousand people."
"It's too slow. I don't have all decade," Kara said frustrated.
"We lack labor, equipment, and raw materials," Brainiac 5 said. "The more drones that are built, the faster they will be in manufacturing more drones."
"How many drones can one of your drones build annually?" Kara asked curiously.
"With an infinite supply of raw materials and no equipment breakdowns, one drone can build 50 drones a year or one per week," Brainiac 5 calculated. "However, you must understand that some of my drones are being used for purposes other than drone manufacturing. We have to feed, shelter, and provide energy needs to these humans while rebuilding their infrastructure. We are also vulnerable to another alien attack."
Kara nodded and then went outside the office to talk to the human workers. They all stood at attention for her as she addressed them. "Over a thousand years ago, an American leader said the following: 'I must study politics and war, that our sons may have the liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. Our sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, and naval architecture, navigation, commerce, and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.'"
The workers gave her a WTF look wondering what that even meant. "The point being made here is that the first generation has to work hard doing things they don't want to do, namely this repetitive drone manufacturing. You have opted into a system that doesn't pay you but instead provides for your food, drink, housing, utilities, health care, and entertainment needs. Even so, it's going to be hard for all of us. The good news is that you won't have to wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation to start doing the things you really want to do in life. It won't be the 3rd generation but the third year," Kara promised them.
The workers clapped and cheered at that. Kara went back into her office with Brainiac 5 waiting on her. "We need to expand the dominion and put an emphasis on this production," Kara ordered. "We need more men."
"How about...India?" Brainiac 5 suggested.
India
The British fleet headed towards India with thousands of sailors and workers. Kara dispatched Mon to lead the fleet and provide it security while she attended to other matters. Nura was also with him to prevent the situation from getting out of control. The fleet was composed of an aircraft carrier, several destroyers, several frigates, and several submarines. It arrived off the coast of Bangladesh near Chittagong. Without asking for any permission, the British began landing men on the coast and started taking control of buildings and land needed to build drones. Alarmed by this, the Bengali king surrounded Chittagong and attempted to push the British out. In treaty negotiations, Mon demonstrated his power by firing a beam into the ocean that had the same power as a nuclear blast. The Maratha Emperor and Bengali king quickly folded and signed a treaty giving the British land to build factories. Disinterested in governing, Mon merely sacked whatever land, buildings, and resources Brainiac 5 required to build drone factories. Thousands of impoverished Indians opted into the economic system and became drone workers. Additional factories were built all along the Indian coastline.
Soon, it became clear that not all workers were of the same quality. Some opted into the system to ensure their family's survival but were lazy, incompetent, or unintelligent. Brainiac 5 analyzed the factories continuously and determined the performance levels of his workers. A ranking system was then created where the top workers would promote from enlisted-1 to enlisted-2 after six months of competent faithful service. In the meantime, Brainiac 5 gave higher authority to E-1s he knew were likely to promote. With each higher enlistment level, they would receive greater benefits. There were no officer ranks as Brainiac 5 made all supervisory decisions.
After the invasion, Kara held a meeting with the Indian emperors, kings, warlords, and chiefs in the very divided region via holograms in her office. "We're not interested in conquering peoples or even cities. All I want is raw resources, land, and building space. If workers opt into our system, you will not stop them. If they opt-out of our system, you are not to mistreat them," Kara ordered.
"This isn't some social club where people pay dues for their membership. You are creating a new colony in our country, taking our lands and resources, and inviting our people to betray their citizenship. You're also proselytizing a religion five hundred years after religion was finally purged from this land," the Mughal emperor argued.
"I know it sounds like conquering to you, folks, but it's really not. I'm merely taking the land, not the people. If the people don't want to be a part of my system, they're free to stay and do their own thing. But let me clear to all of you. This country, this planet, and all of its land, water, and resources are now mine. You are now living on my world rent-free for the moment. Enjoy it while you can because eventually, I'm going to come for my rent," Kara told them.
"This is an act of war, aggression, an international crime," the Bengali king said to her.
"I mean...it could be. I'm no lawyer," Kara said dismissively. "The people of your country are in deep poverty barely able to feed themselves. I saw it a thousand years ago and it's still here."
"To be fair, we've had an asteroid impact and environmental catastrophes," the Maratha emperor excused.
"Yeah, I don't give a shit. I can feed an Indian family with how much I spend on a coffee per day," Kara said. "I think I can do better and I'm willing to give you all a shit-ton of bribes to cooperate. Or you can try to attack me and see how that works out."
The Indian leaders signed off, ending the negotiations. "An Indian fleet is being organized presumably to blockade Bombay," Brainiac 5 informed Kara. "A coalition army is also being assembled."
"I'm not sure I'm prepared for this. All my life, I never gave a shit about poor people around the world. Now, I may have to wage war, conquer, and slaughter fools to create my utopia," Kara said unsettled.
"You figured the world would just bow down to you immediately?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"For a moment there, yeah, I kind of did," Kara admitted.
"I find your naivety amusing. You can always hand over this business to Mon-El," Brainiac 5 said.
"He would slaughter millions if I don't keep a good hold on his leash," Kara frowned.
An Indian fleet composed of one aircraft carrier, one amphibious assault ship, a dozen destroyers, two dozen frigates, a dozen corvettes, two dozen submarines, and numerous patrol and missile boats came together vastly outnumbering the British fleet. They proceeded to blockade Bombay preventing any additional ships from entering the area.
Imra awoke and met up with Kara and Brainiac 5 at the hospital. "I have the worst headache," she complained.
"So, we got ourselves a little bit of a situation here in India so it's going to be a while before we hold up our end of the deal," Kara said.
"That's bullshit. The Emperor's herald will soon arrive," Imra told her.
"What is that all about?" Kara wondered.
"I have no idea but it must be a big fucking deal," Imra said.
"You can take Mon and Barney with you as advisers," Kara said. Mon then instantly appeared in the room. "You're going to Titan to assist them as part of our agreement."
"An Insane always honors his word," Mon smiled at Imra.
"You opened my mind to new possibilities. Should you serve my house well, I see the potential for new partnerships," Imra said ambitiously and then walked off to reunite with her Titan staff for the journey back.
Kara turned to Mon. "Try not to fuck her while you're over there," she said jealousy.
"No promises. She is a third your age," Mon mocked.
"Can you at least not conceive any illegitimate children with her?" Kara requested.
"That's fair," Mon allowed. "You don't have anything to worry about. I'm not interested in a woman knowing what my intentions are every moment of the day."
"These Titans could be valuable allies. Be tactical...and strategic," Kara told him.
"Hey, it's me," Mon smirked as he walked off.
Kara shook her head expecting the planet to be a cinder by the end of the mission.
India
Kara landed in Bombay and eyed the Indian fleet blockading the port. Walking on the water, she fired low-intensity heat vision towards their ships. Any sailor on the deck was immediately sunburned by the beam and took cover below deck. Kara waited a moment to see what the fleet would do. The smaller boats took defensive positions behind the larger vessels. Kara clapped her hands creating a shockwave that blasted out the windows of the ship's command towers. The shockwave rattled the ships creating vibrations all throughout their hulls. Sailors were terrified as Kara continued to clap every few seconds in their direction.
The Indian fleet responded with a flurry of ship-to-surface missiles and shells. The area around Kara exploded in with large water explosions and plumes as they impacted. After a long barrage, Kara remained standing on the water unaffected. Unamused, Kara flew towards the Indian fleet and fired heat vision beams at their fighters sitting on the deck of the aircraft carrier. She then fired on the guns and canons of the surface ships careful to not kill anyone in the process. The ships fired continuous machine gun fire, lasers, and missiles at her without effect.
Kara gave them a sonic scream to rattle them a bit more and then flew back to the mainland. Meanwhile, the kingdom of Mysore encroached upon the coastal drone factories in the south. With the Indian fleet staying put, Kara sighed and radioed Brainiac 5. "Alright, execute order 66."
Brainiac 5 units strategically placed around India taking on the appearances of security guards and civil servants approached the leaders of each kingdom and assassinated them on the spot with concealed cable tentacles. He would use these cables to strangle, break necks, or penetrate their bodies. In short order, Brainiac 5 had purged each of the kingdoms of their political and military leaders. Brainiac 5 units, impersonating junior officers, approached the captains and commanders of the ships and assassinated them. In most cases, these drones would be destroyed once the Indians realized what was happening and counter attacked but the damage had been done. Fear swept through Indian elite circles.
"It is done," Brainiac 5 radioed Kara.
Titan, Caladan
Imra returned to Titan Prime in her consular ship. She was greeted by her father, Bertor, and her mother, Sydne with the House of Ardeen militia present. Brainiac 5 approached Bertor and respectfully bowed his head. "I am at your service," he said to him.
Mon was the last to exit the ship and didn't show the same respect. He looked around at the rich coastal city quickly analyzing how he would conquer it. "I take it you're Prince Mon-El of the Jin-Saiyan," Bertor identified.
"The enemy of my friend...is my enemy," Mon told him.
"That's what I like to hear," Bertor smiled.
"We have much to discuss and very little time," Imra pressed.
Author's Notes: This version of Saturn Girl makes her more OP and lethal than in the comics. To avoid confusion with Kara, she has the same appearance as her CW version. In some versions of Saturn Girl, she's mute using only telepathy. She is also recruited to be a police officer of all things. The Dune planets are all put on one planet for convenience and to mock the notion that a planet is all one particular terrain or climate. In Dune, spice is used by navigators to perform hyperspace travel. Since this contradicts already existing material here, the purpose of the spice has been changed to be more similar to opium in the Opium Wars.
*May 3017 closely follows the events of May 1917.
*Drone production closely follows current day car manufacturing in the UK at 25 per thousand people per year with the goal of reaching Japan at 75 per thousand people per year.
*The Indian conflict corresponds to the Anglo-Indian War. Fleet numbers are based on present-day ship numbers for all sides. I'm getting in these navy battles now before spaceships start flying around.
*Kara's age is 27 with 30 years in suspended animation making her technically 57.
