As soon as Kara moved into the palace in Metropolis, she got to work. She held a meeting with Brainiac 5 to discuss what was going on in Africa. "We have a problem in Africa," Brainiac 5 began.

"Well...no shit," Kara agreed.

"The British are very worried there will be a massacre of their citizens in Rwanda and they would like to have secret talks with us to help them out on this," Brainiac 5 said.

"Sure," Kara nodded.

"State has turned them down," Brainiac 5 brought up.

"To hell with State," Kara rolled her eyes. "Are you aware State hasn't sent me shit on Burundi? They haven't. Sup with that? Or do you have something I haven't seen?"

"I have not," Brainiac 5 confirmed.

"Well, how do you feel on this? I mean, a person is a person. They say these people are so far away like Vietnamese and Czechs but damn it, people are people in my opinion," Kara said passionately. "I'm tired of these Africans eating eight thousand people and no one doing a damn thing about it."

"And the same bleeding hearts that don't want to see Asians killed ignore what's going on in Africa. More people have died in Burundi in the last three weeks than in the last eight months in Vietnam," Brainiac 5 brought up.

"And these same people get pissed with me for bombing North Vietnam. I want some figures on how many South Vietnamese were killed by the North. It's unbelievable, Barney. No one gives a damn," Kara said peeved. "I mean, we need a new African policy. We shouldn't have forty-odd ambassadors to all these God damn provinces. I created a federation of East African provinces into one nation, but we can talk about that some other time."

"Certainly," Brainiac 5 allowed.

"And with Rwanda, we have to save those seven thousand British there. They'll be murdered and I'm still the Queen of England last time I checked," Kara added.

"That's exactly the problem," Brainiac 5 agreed. "We can send a military man down there from the defense department to handle logistics."

"Do we have anyone we trust?" Kara asked skeptically.

"Prince Mon-El," Brainiac 5 suggested.

"I suppose but it just seems to me the Imperial military is just sitting on its ass. They should do something," Kara figured. "I just think that's a good idea."

"The major thing is getting information," Brainiac 5 insisted.

"Well, I can't have the British slaughtered there," Kara said resolved.

"Well, they did send you a private message because they were being stonewalled by the state department," Brainiac 5 informed her.

"Use our private channel to get a hold of them and tell them Mon will be paying Rwanda a visit with private instructions from me to discuss on a secret basis what the hell we can do. How does that sound?" Kara asked.

"That sounds excellent," Brainiac 5 replied.

"And you have to tell Mon, 'You have to deny this, this conversation never took place, but we won't let these people be destroyed,'" Kara ordered. "That should reassure the British."

"I can meet with Mon in Paris," Brainiac 5 volunteered.

"Very good...but what the fuck is he doing there?" Kara demanded.

Rwanda

A primitive Imperial fort was under siege by rebels in the middle of the jungle. Mon and Brainiac 5 toured the base as shells landed every so often near the base from rebel artillery fire. A squad rushed into the fort having been ambushed in the jungle. The wounded and sick were placed together in a hut. Brainiac 5 addressed the doctor in the sick hut.

"Report," he ordered.

"The wounded in battle, we can deal with. But this queer disease, thirty men dead yesterday, eighteen, the day before. We need supplies: plasma, penicillin," the doctor said.

"Yeah, we'll get you everything you need, doctor," Mon said sarcastically as the two of them observed the near-dead men.

"Please...get me out of this shithole," one sick man pleaded with them.

"A blood sample first," Brainiac 5 said as he stuck the man with a needle and took a sample.

"I'm going to die, right?" the man assumed.

"Yes," Brainiac 5 replied bluntly.

"Tell my girl, I love her," the man requested.

"I will," Brainiac 5 assured him.

The two of them then walked out of the hut where they toured the fort. "The men inside are in the early stages of the disease. By tomorrow night, they will look like this," the doctor said of several bodies.

"Damn," Mon winced.

"I'll authorize an immediate airdrop, doctor. In the meantime, I will conduct Christian services," Brainiac 5 said to him.

Mon waited patiently for Brainiac 5 to minister to every single person in the fort and then took their jet out of the base. "It's worse than I had anticipated," Brainiac 5 said as they took off.

"I got this," Mon rolled his eyes.

Soon thereafter, Mon exited the jet and pointed his hand at the fort. An energy sphere formed on his hand and then he fired on the fort. The beam hit the fort creating a massive nuclear-sized explosion that annihilated everyone still present and gutted the surrounding forest.

Metropolis

Kara was peeved by the report. "You're not allowed to nuke an Imperial fort without my permission!"

"I had no idea what Mon was going to do," Brainiac 5 lied

"Don't bullshit me, Barney," Kara said scornfully.

"The situation was contained. Any additional delays and the virus could have spread to the surrounding areas," Brainiac 5 said.

"Do you have a patient zero?" Kara asked skeptically.

"No," Brainiac 5 admitted.

"So, we don't know for sure it's been contained. I want reports on the surrounding areas for any diseases that fit what you saw," Kara ordered. "And don't bring Mon with you."

"Mon is well versed in biological warfare," Brainiac 5 protested.

"I bet he is. Find someone else," Kara ordered.

Congo

Brainiac 5 arrived in the Congo in the Motaba River Valley. He scanned the village seeing many of the buildings burned by fire. Several corpses had been burned in a vain attempt to contain the disease. Brainiac 5 approached the one building that wasn't burned. Entering inside, he found two dozen seriously sick people. They were all lying on the floor, barely able to move, near dead. Some of them had already perished and hadn't been moved yet. Brainiac 5 peeled away a veil and saw two dead parents with their young child who was also infected.

A man then entered the room, the village doctor. "It's not airborne," he said to Brainiac 5.

"So, you say," Brainiac 5 said unconvinced. "Dr. Barney Dox."

"Benjamin Iwabi," he introduced himself. "We've been expecting you."

"I came as soon as I could," Brainiac 5 replied without emotion.

"Not soon enough. The village is dead," Benjamin said somberly.

The two took a tour of the village. "The incubation period?" Brainiac 5 questioned.

"No, but it kills in two or three days. The mortality rate is one hundred percent," Benjamin said.

"Could an infected person have gotten out of the village?" Brainiac 5 asked.

"If he did, he would be dead or dying in the jungle," Benjamin said dismissively. "And it's fifty miles to the nearest village."

"Who was patient zero?" Brainiac 5 asked.

"He was working with the drones to build a road to Kinshasa. When he returned, he was sick, and he drank from this well. From there, it spread to the entire village," Benjamin said.

"Did you identify the carrier, the host?" Brainiac 5 questioned.

"No, the boy was incoherent when I arrived. He died two hours later," Benjamin said.

Brainiac 5 eyed a witch doctor on the top of a mountain. "He's not sick," he observed.

"He's the local witch doctor. He stayed in his cave the whole two weeks," Benjamin explained.

"I'd like to talk to him," Brainiac 5 said seriously.

"No, he only talks to me. He believes this is a punishment from the gods," Benjamin objected.

"Nonetheless, when his village was most in need, he hid away in his cave. He'll talk to me," Brainiac 5 said. "Tell me, doctor. Are you a Christian man?"

"Of course," he replied.

Brainiac 5 took out a pistol and shot through his head. He then fired on the building with all the sick people, consuming them instantly with fire. He then made his approach to the witch doctor. Once it was obvious the witch doctor had no pertinent information, Brainiac 5 killed him, too.

Metropolis

That evening, Kara was at a party for high-ranking people, blissfully unaware of the situation in Africa. Brainiac 5 then approached her to give her the news. "Did you read the email I sent to you six hours ago?" Brainiac 5 asked condescendingly.

"No," Kara rolled her eyes.

"We must issue an alert," Brainiac 5 said seriously.

"Can it wait until after this party?" Kara asked as she held a vodka martini in her hand while wearing a black dress that had a silver House of El crest on her chest.

"No, it has to be now," Brainiac 5 insisted.

"You said this shit was contained," Kara pointed out.

"I said it was probable that it was contained," Brainiac 5 corrected.

"You sure you're not wrong about this?" Kara asked skeptically.

"I could be wrong," Brainiac 5 allowed.

The two simply stared at each other. "Barney, are you fucking with me? I'm trying to be cool with Senator Rosales who is the chairman of the Senate Arms Service Committee who controls...well, shit, I don't think he controls anything," Kara said awkwardly and slightly tipsy.

"I control the budget, remember?" Brainiac 5 said obviously. "This bug kills within two or three days."

Kara looked around to see if anyone could overhear them. "Look, I know a little about viruses, alright. I took advanced bioengineering science on Krypton and I reported on this shit at Catco. I know things."

"Alright," Brainiac 5 allowed.

"So, it's the lethality of this virus that will be its undoing. It kills so fast it runs out of people to spread it around. So, it's contained," Kara said.

"Unless the carrier of the virus is immune," Brainiac 5 said.

"Well...fuck me," Kara realized.

Immediately, Kara shut down the airports, seaports, and major highway systems of all the cities. She then did a follow-up press conference on the matter. "Why are you shutting down global transportation networks?" one reporter asked.

"Cuz I can," Kara said vaguely. "Look, you thought it would be so funny to force me to abdicate over some stupid coverup at Met U. You've forgotten who the fuck I am. I'm a fucking big deal. I got powers beyond your imagination and an intellect beyond your comprehension. You fuck with me, I fuck with you," Kara said.

"For how long, Your Highness?" one reporter asked.

"For as long as I feel like it and if any of you try to test my new regulations, I'll kill your ass," Kara threatened.

Brainiac 5 did his lab work and reported to Kara and Mon. "I don't appreciate you blowing up an Imperial fort without fucking telling me," Kara scolded Mon.

"You're being sentimental. That's the problem with you and this planet," Mon rolled his eyes.

Brainiac 5 ignored their banter and showed them a hologram of the virus. "Oh my God...wait...what the fuck am I looking at?" Kara asked.

"It's a biological weapon from 2967 before your arrival. It has returned," Brainiac 5 said. "I have isolated most of its proteins and I will have an antibody within the week and the genetic sequence within the month. I'll map it to its last gene.

"I want a health alert to all of our health professionals," Kara ordered.

"We should replace all the human health workers with drones," Mon countered.

"It will take time but that can be arranged," Brainiac 5 agreed.

"When are humans ever going to take charge of anything? If we do everything for them, they'll never learn, grow, or gain experience," Kara argued.

"I agree in principle, but this is not an appropriate test for them. Many will die," Brainiac 5 said seriously.

"Fine," Kara nodded.

San Francisco

Not long afterward, there were some unusual cases in San Francisco. Kara immediately flew over there to interview the patients. Brainiac 5 came out to meet her. "A man at a pet store has died and tested positive for the virus. These patients have also tested positive," Brainiac 5 reported.

Kara went over to a sick young man who looked close to death. "Can you hear me? How did you get sick? Did you touch any animals?"

The man tried to speak but then died. "Well...shit," Kara muttered.

Kara then talked with the grief-stricken girlfriend who was about to die as well but got nothing out of her. "Did he say anything?" Kara asked.

"Oh, God, he's dead. Oh, God," she cried out.

"Yeah, if you could...you know...tell me how he got it...that would be great," Kara told her.

"Oh, God, Oh, God!" she shouted repeatedly.

Kara turned to Brainiac 5. "I want an autopsy,"

Kara and Brainiac 5 did the autopsy together with both of them being immune to the virus. The autopsy showed his organs in a state of liquefaction.

After the autopsy, Kara and Brainiac 5 discussed the case. "He used to work at an animal quarantine facility. He may have gotten it there. I'll monitor and question all of his co-workers while putting the facility on lockdown," Brainiac 5 said.

"I want all of Northern California on lockdown. No theaters, restaurants, and social gatherings. In fact, I want you to lock everyone in their quarters until the incubation period is over," Kara ordered.

"It could create a panic," Brainiac 5 warned.

"Not if I give a reason for it," Kara replied.

Still in San Francisco, Kara did a press conference to explain the lockdown. "So, the two senators and most of the congressmen from Northern California made it clear they supported my impeachment and abdication. Well, as a result, I'm putting this country on lockdown to make an example of you, fucks. You're all to remain in your assigned housing that I generously provided and stay there until I say otherwise. All facilities will be closed. You shouldn't have fucked with me, San Francisco," Kara announced.

Despite the lockdown, hospitals became overwhelmed with patients. Brainiac 5 drones began replacing incompetent human medical professionals across all the hospitals and clinics within the country. One such incompetent was a health professional that cut himself with multiple blood samples and didn't report it. He was now near death and his wife was also infected.

"I'm going to need you to fight, alright. If you could just fight a little longer, that would be great," Brainiac 5 said in a monotone voice to this patient.

As the situation got worse in San Francisco, Kara ordered military drone units to occupy the country to enforce the lockdown. The drones patrolled the major cities of Northern California, sealed the border with neighboring countries, and put up checkpoints to stop anyone from trying to get out. The civilians were noticeably pissed so Kara gave an explanation.

"One thing leads to another. I give the order to stay in your quarters and stay there, but you disobey me. So, now I'm occupying your cities and towns. Anyone trying to leave Northern California is going to get shot. I am, in fact, a total tyrant. I am a crazy bitch so don't test me or things are going to get a lot worse for all of you," Kara declared.

Brainiac 5 then detected the virus had mutated and was now airborne. "The virus is now airborne," he reported to Kara.

"These viruses grow up so fast. What's next? Is it going to learn to air assault as well?" Kara mocked.

The public continued to disobey quarantine orders by protesting in public. At this point, humanity was not yet aware of the threat and believed Kara was just being a total tyrant. Neither Kara nor the drones wore masks because they didn't need to and to reinforce this idea.

Kara and Brainiac 5 met up away from the public in a medical trailer. "What are we dealing with now?" Kara asked impatiently.

"The protein code has changed allowing the virus to live longer in the air," Brainiac 5 said, showing her a hologram of the new virus.

"So, it spreads like the flu. That's just great," Kara said peeved.

"One of the patients owned a pet store. The suspected animal carrier must have been there," Brainiac 5 said.

"Well...fuck...is the animal still there?" Kara asked obviously.

"No," Brainiac 5 replied. "I already had all the animals tested."

"I want anyone out on the streets to be beaten and dragged to their quarters. Then, I want their quarters to be locked so they can't escape. Be as brutal as you have to be, Barney. This is fucking serious," Kara ordered.

"As you wish," Brainiac 5 replied.

Civilian helicopters from the Daily Planet attempted to get to San Francisco to find out what was really happening there. Military helicopters piloted by drones forced them to leave. On the streets, drones took hold of the civilians and dragged them into vehicles to force them back to their quarters. A number of civilians attempted to escape the city in their vehicles.

Military helicopters followed them and blasted them with laser fire, killing the civilians on the spot. At the same time, thousands of more drones started to pour into the city to overwhelm the human population. Compartments of anti-viral serums were being transported in and distributed.

"You got a cure, Barney?" Kara asked impatiently.

"An experimental serum," Brainiac 5 replied. "It's worth a try."

A patient given the serum then died. "Well...shit," Kara sighed.

With surveillance equipment inside the rooms of every housing unit, Brainiac 5 was able to detect who was sick immediately. When this inevitably happened, drones dragged the sick person and their entire family out of their quarters and sent them to the hospital for testing. With the media blackout still in effect, the rest of the world was oblivious.

As the situation was getting worse in San Francisco, Kara, Mon, and Brainiac 5 had a meeting to discuss the situation. "The answer is obvious: Nuke'em," Mon said.

"Mon, I don't think I heard you correctly. There's nothing in the Constitution that allows me to vaporize one of my own cities, but it does mention that neither life, liberty, or the pursuit of property shall be deprived without due process," Kara told him off.

"I don't give a shit about your Constitution. This will solve the problem," Mon insisted.

"There has to be another way. This is going to make me look bad," Kara refused. "Now, look at these pictures. Just look at them, Mon. These are not statistics. They're flesh and blood. I want you to burn these pictures into your memory because those images should haunt you until you die," Kara said passionately as she showed a slideshow of San Francisco residents.

"I assure you...I'll sleep like a baby, tonight," Mon told her.

"Those images are of people that have already died," Brainiac 5 whispered to Kara.

Kara eyed the images and then back to the group looking sheepishly. "Well...shit."

Bodies of dead people were loaded into the trucks for disposal and burned. This did not go unnoticed as it was leaked to the Daily Planet. Kara addressed global concerns over the matter. "That's right. I'm running a concentration camp in San Francisco for all these hippies who opposed my reign or suddenly decided to be conscientious objectors to the wars I started. If you don't like it, you can go fuck yourselves."

Kara and Mon had a private conversation on the matter. "You've told me Truman was a hero for dropping the bomb on the Japs, that he saved millions of lives for doing so," Mon pointed out.

"We're not at war...here...at this moment," Kara countered.

"We're always at war...with everyone here at all times," Mon said seriously. "I'm going to destroy this city whether you like it or not."

"Mon, these people are sentient living beings just like we are," Kara told him.

"If they were all Insane, I would still do it. If this containment breaks, it will infect the entire population," Mon argued. "That's why hunters are so important to an ecosystem. They take out the sickly and the injured."

"And the young who can't fend for themselves," Kara added.

"These people are casualties of war, Kara," Mon said. "Barney agrees with me now. You're outvoted."

Kara charged into Brainiac 5's office in one of the trailers. "You knew about this virus all along. That's why you were able to develop the antiserum so quickly," she accused. "You could have stopped this outbreak before it mutated but you didn't."

"I knew a biological weapon was used in Africa in the 2967 war, but I didn't analyze it until now," Brainiac 5 excused.

"That sounds like bullshit coming from the smartest, most curious lifeform in existence," Kara doubted. "What is the host?"

"I don't know," Brainiac 5 replied. "I synthesized the antiserum within the last few days."

"Don't tell me you didn't know. You're protecting the existence of the perfect biological weapon," Kara accused.

"You are my most perfect biological weapon," Brainiac 5 replied. "And I would never do anything to risk losing your allegiance."

"You can certainly control a virus a lot easier than me," Kara glared.

"You flatter yourself. I've done all I can as a doctor. Now, we must go on," Brainiac 5 said alluding to Mon's plan.

"So, you get to wipe out the city and keep your weapon, right, Barney?" Kara asked crossly.

"You're delusional, Kara. I didn't create this weapon and there was nothing to study until it resurfaced. Now...," Brainiac 5 said and then paused. Kara simply stared at him as his drones collectively considered new information from the ports. "A security guard has admitted to smuggling an animal out of a San Francisco port, a type of monkey. The ship that the animal came from was from Africa."

"What does this monkey look like?" Kara asked.

Brainiac 5 showed her a hologram of the security guard's recollection. He eventually flipped to the right species. "I have to talk to the people."

Kara held another press conference to discuss the new revelation. "I'm looking for this monkey," she said and then held out a picture of it. "Obviously, it's not a native to California. So, if you see this monkey, you are to report it to the government, immediately. If you do that, I will lift the lockdown."

"Why is this monkey so important to you?" a reporter asked.

"It has sentimental value to me," Kara lied.

"You're saying you'll lift the lockdown and military occupation of California if we find this kind of monkey?" a reporter asked incredulously.

"Not just this kind of monkey, my monkey," Kara clarified.

"Did you put a locator chip in your monkey?" one reporter asked.

"I did not," Kara admitted.

"Isn't that standard procedure for all pets?" another asked.

"Well...yes, but I just...forgot," Kara said sheepishly. "Look, it's a fair trade. I get my monkey and you get your freedom."

Kara then broadcasted a message to all of California's electronic devices whether they were listening to the press conference or not. "For some time now, you have harbored my monkey. I request that you report the location of this monkey. For reasons unknown, this monkey escaped my custody. He will have made efforts to blend in and look like any other zoo monkey, but he is not one of them. For those of you who may know of his current location, the fate of your country rests in your hands. Surrender my monkey now or suffer the consequences."

Soon thereafter, numerous tips came in on the sighting of the monkey, most of them false or mistaken identities. Brainiac 5 went through all the traffic to give Kara the most likely tip. Kara then flew over to a house not far from San Francisco breaking the sound barrier as she did. She landed near the house with a thud.

Kara entered the house and talked with the mother and child. "Where the fuck is that monkey?" Kara asked the mother.

"Only she knows," the scared woman said of her daughter.

Kara softened a bit and talked with the young girl. "You, ever been sick?"

"Sometimes," the girl nodded.

"It's not much fun, is it?" Kara asked rhetorically.

"No," she confirmed.

"Well, there's an entire city filled with sick people, right now. Now, you love your mommy, right?" Kara asked with a crazed expression on her face.

She nodded. "Well, that's how much I love humanity and humanity is very sick. So, this monkey you found has a very special medicine that will make all these people better. So, she's very special to me. Do you understand?" Kara asked.

"You won't hurt her?" the girl asked.

"No, not at all," Kara replied.

"Promise you won't hurt her," the girl demanded.

Kara was about to strangle the kid but kept her cool. "I promise," Kara swore. "And if I do, you can punch me in the nose."

"But you wouldn't be able to even feel it," the girl pointed out.

"Where the fuck is that monkey? I'm fucking serious. I will end you, little girl!" Kara demanded with red glowing eyes.

The girl merely screamed in terror.

Mon flew up into the air and went Super Insane. A golden aura flared around him like a roaring fire. He pointed his hand at San Francisco to annihilate it and everyone in it. "Wait until all drones are out of the city," Brainiac 5 requested via radio.

"As you wish," Mon permitted.

At the house, the scared shitless girl went out into the backyard to find the monkey. Upon the monkey making its appearance, Kara sped over to it and grabbed it. The monkey immediately tried to bite Kara. "You son-of-a-bitch," Kara said to the monkey and then radioed Brainiac 5. "I have the host and I'm on my way back."

Kara then flew up into the air but at a medium velocity so as to not kill the monkey in her arms. Kara landed in San Francisco, breaking the pavement, and then entered the hospital lab. Brainiac 5 analyzed a blood sample from the monkey and then quickly developed an antiserum for the virus. He then experimented with the antiserum on a patient to see the result.

As the drones began evacuating San Francisco, humans decided it would be okay to leave their quarters and try to escape the city. Brainiac 5 rapidly calculated the situation as he saw people moving around. Kara was still assisting Brainiac 5 with his lab work as Mon was still in the air ready to strike. "Where's Mon?" Kara asked finally.

"He's in the air ready to strike the city," Brainiac 5 said casually.

"But I'm in the city!" Kara said outraged.

"You will survive the blast," Brainiac 5 said unconcernedly.

"We have the antiserum. This is fucking murder," Kara said to him.

"We do not have a definitive cure and people are trying to leave the city. If the antiserum is a failure and people escape the city, the entire planet is in danger," Brainiac 5 said to her.

"Fuck this. I'll stop him, myself," Kara said and then shot up into the air.

Mon was still in the air ready to strike when Kara flew towards him. "Mon, do not strike this city. We have produced an antiserum. It's being administered. You must abort this," Kara said to him via radio.

Mon ignored her and kept his aim on the city. "I'm talking to you, Mon," Kara yelled at him. "We can kill the virus without killing these people. I swear to you on my soul."

Brainiac 5 remained silent as he continued to analyze the conditions of his patients and how many were attempting to escape the town. Kara flew at Mon and fired heat vision beams at him with the intent to disable him. Mon easily used his instant transmission to avoid the killer strikes. He instantly teleported to another line of sight on the city and re-aimed. Kara sped over to his position each time with sonic booms that rattled the trees and buildings, but Mon simply evaded her each time.

Kara then tried to punch through him only to hit a clone that turned to smoke. "Oh, shit," Kara realized as she found it impossible to locate the real one. "I know what you're about to do comes easy to you. You've blown up countless planets and cities. It's second nature to you, but what I'm telling you is the truth, so help me God," she said to him via radio.

The people of San Francisco looked up and saw Kara furiously trying to locate Mon and fire upon him. "I've never seen anything like this," they said amazed as the city was continually rattled by their movements. One clone blasted Kara with a solar flare that temporarily blinded her.

The real Mon saw that Kara was distracted and powered up for a city-destroying attack. "Big Bang Attack!" he said as an energy orb appeared on his gloved palm. "Ah!" The sphere of death appeared to go straight for the city at close range. Kara eyed the energy sphere in shock unable to stop it in time. The orb flew over the city and landed in the bay where it exploded in a blinding flash of light that threw water high into the air.

Kara entered the hospital lab and saw Brainiac 5 treating more patients with the antiserum. "I assume it works," she said bitterly.

"It appears to be," Brainiac 5 replied.

"Mon was just fucking with me, right?" Kara asked hopefully.

"His aim was uncharacteristically bad," Brainiac 5 allowed.

"I could have killed his ass," Kara glared.

"You were willing to kill him to save your people, and he was willing to take on the challenge of evading you. So, in this regard, you both learned something about yourselves," Brainiac 5 said.

Kara nodded completely pissed off. "I have to tell the people the truth now."

"Do you? The choice is yours whether you wish to be perceived as a tyrant or savior. There are advantages to both courses of action," Brainiac 5 advised.

"The problem with being perceived as a mere tyrant is that I can't keep up the facade for too long," Kara admitted. "My love for these people always manages to crack through."

"Indeed. What do you want me to do with the security guard in my custody," Brainiac 5 asked.

"Infect him with the virus, give him the antiserum, and then repeat until his body gives out for however long it takes," Kara sneered.

Kara held a press conference as the lockdowns ended and everyone went back to their normal lives. "The reason for the recent lockdowns in Africa and California was due to a very infectious and lethal virus. It was a biological weapon from decades before my arrival to your time, a relic of your recent human wars. Thanks to the brilliance of Barney Dox and my decision-making, we were able to contain the virus and develop an antiserum within a very short amount of time and with minimal deaths," Kara revealed.

"I gave you all the impression I was punishing California and being a total tyrant to avoid a panic that could have spread the virus to all corners of the globe. It has always been my motto to stand for truth, justice, and the American Way. In this instance, I most definitely fulfilled the justice and American Way part, but I failed when it came to the truth. I lied to you directly and by omission, and I am sorry for that," Kara admitted.

"In time, I hope we can build trust between us in so far as it is possible," Kara pledged.
