Earlier in the Season
The USS Event Horizon was given a crew of seven humans and one Brainiac 5 drone to make it to Proxima Centauri and back. At Warp 2, it would take approximately 146 days there and 146 days to get back with a week to explore the system. Hermes probes had already analyzed the system ahead of time showing a number of planets. The ship was equipped with a sub-space communicator allowing them to transmit messages faster than the speed of light. Over this period, Kara encouraged humans to explore and colonize the local area with visits to Jupiter's moons, Titan, and even Uranus. This would be the first crewed mission to break the Warp 2-speed limit and reach another star system.
Kara shook hands with Captain John Kilpack and the rest of the crew before they were to take off. "To boldly go where no human has gone before," Kara smiled condescendingly.
The Event Horizon made it to Neptune, transmitted they were going to warp, and then disappeared. After a good wait, they never transmitted again. "I think we lost them," Brainiac 5 said grimly at NASA HQ.
"Well...shit," Kara frowned.
Present Day
In his quarters, Brainiac 5 mused over a dozen photographs of Kara. He picked up one of the photographs and examined it for a moment before setting it back down. He noticed with slight annoyance that his faucet dripped every so often. Brainiac 5 then left his quarters and made his way to the docking bay. He was on a primitive space station in Earth's low orbit. The space station was a number of compartments linked together in a maze of corridors. Brainiac 5 and the rest of the crew entered the new Poseidon-class submarine, the USS Lois and Clark. The L&C was 115 meters long and resembled a submarine with a long shaft and three large engines to the stern.
To ensure this mission wouldn't be a fuck-up like last time, the Vindicators were assigned to this mission: Kara, Mon, Brainiac 5, Kon, Mara, Imra, Nura, and Dirk. "This is a ridiculous mission. I have better things to do than rescue dumbass human astronauts," Mon said derisively as he took the controls. "Why not Mars? There are women on Mars."
"Right here," Imra reminded him as her station was right next to his.
"The fuck did I just hear?" Kara asked pissed off as she rotated her captain's chair back to forward.
"There's nothing at Neptune," Imra rolled her eyes.
"Look, you know the rules, someone drops balls, we get the call," Kara told them off. "Now, let's go. You got a course plotted in?"
"Yeah," Imra said, taking over navigation.
"Locked and cocked," Mon confirmed.
"Dirk?" Kara asked.
A very human-looking Dirk looked traumatized from his last adventure. He had been turned into literal light and radiation and had managed to return to Earth. After some experiments, Brainiac 5 managed to get his human form back. After some rehabilitation whereby Dirk would suddenly turn into a giant light bulb or ignite in fire, Dirk finally managed to keep his powers under control...mostly.
"Everything's all green, captain," Dirk answered with a freaked-out expression on his face.
Kara stared at him wondering if it was a mistake to bring him. "Start your countdown now."
"Warp drive operational in ten minutes," Imra reported.
Kara then went below the flight deck to the engine room. "We're leaving in ten minutes," she informed Nura, the engineer for this mission.
"Actually, it will be eleven minutes," she corrected.
Kara rallied the crew to the conference room for a briefing while the warp drive warmed up. "Kon, you better have a clean room or you're walking to Neptune," Kara threatened. "What's the holdup, Mara?"
Mara handed Kara a cup of coffee. "Thank you," Kara said appreciatively.
"Kara always like having something hot and black inside her," Mon mocked. Kara gave him the middle finger in response. "Is that an offer?" Mon asked amused.
"Not in front of the kids," Kara said annoyed. "Let's go, people. We have a job to do, chop-chop."
The USS L&C arrived at Neptune within 25 minutes at Warp 2. Upon arriving, Kara rallied the crew into the conference room. "Nura, I did try to find a replacement for you...just not very hard. I am sorry," Kara admitted.
"Everything...is not going to be alright," Nura predicted.
"How ominous," Kara shook her head.
"We're here," Mon reported.
"We're all green and Earth is aware of our position," Imra reported.
"So, why are we out here?" Kon asked confused.
"Barney, why the fuck are we out here?" Kara asked. "I was about to go on vacation but now I'm three billion miles from the nearest outpost."
"I intercepted a radio transmission from a decaying orbit of Neptune. The source of this transmission has been identified as the Event Horizon," Brainiac 5 said.
"That sounds like bullshit," Mon doubted and got up.
"Mon, sit the fuck down," Kara ordered. "Barney, continue."
"Our cover story was that the Event Horizon's engine went critical and that she blew up. We all know that wasn't true. The ship used conventional thrusters, all systems looked good, they were given the go-ahead to use the Warp drive, and then they just disappeared. Vanished without a trace, until now," Brainiac 5 explained.
"Where have they been this whole time?" Kara asked confused.
"That's why we're here. To find out. Now, we did get this single transmission," Brainiac 5 said and then played the recording. The recording was screams of the damned in hell or something.
"What the fuck was that?" Mon asked, slightly disturbed.
"I was able to isolate what appears to be a human voice," Brainiac 5 said and then played it again.
"It sounds like Latin," Mara deciphered.
"Very good. Translate it," Brainiac 5 requested of her.
"Liberte me, save me," Mara translated.
The L&C made its way to the Event Horizon by entering Neptune's atmosphere. After some turbulence and lightning interference, the L&C made visual contact with the Event Horizon. "Mon, give me a flyby," Kara ordered.
"I have an airlock to dock with," Mon detected and then flew the L&C into position. The two ships were now docked with each other.
"Imra, give me a read," Kara ordered.
"Reactor is still hot, no leaks. There's air pressure, the hull is intact, but there's no gravity and the thermal units are off-line. I'm seeing deep cold. The crew couldn't have survived," Imra reported.
"Find them," Kara pressed.
"I'm detecting trace lifeforms, but I can't get a lock on their location. It's all over the ship," Imra said as she looked at the computer.
"Probably body parts scattered about the ship," Mon figured.
Kara stared at him. "Okay, we're going to check every deck and room of that ship. Dirk, you're going on the away team. We'll need some light. Barney, you're staying here on the bridge."
"May I ask why?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Once we have secured the ship, then you can come onboard. I can't afford to lose you," Kara said obviously. "Take the comm."
Kara, Dirk, and Nura entered the Event Horizon while wearing spacesuits. Their magnetic boots allowed them to walk in the zero-gravity environment. "It's cold as fuck in here," Kara realized as she saw ice crystals floating about.
"You're in the central corridor," Brainiac 5 radioed. "It connects the living quarters in the front of the ship to engineering in the rear."
"Dirk, check out engineering. Nura, come with me," Kara ordered. Kara then noticed something on the floor. "Are those...bombs?"
"The explosives are meant to cut the ship in half so the crew can use their living quarters as a lifeboat," Brainiac 5 explained.
"Yeah, sure, but why do they have to be blinking ominously?" Kara asked.
Kara and Nura entered the medical bay and found a number of hanging medical tools. "Creepy as fuck," Kara said as she scanned the room with her X-ray vision. "No crew, yet."
"Are you sure?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"Barney, I have X-ray vision, falcon vision, super-hearing, and I can sense even the tiniest of vibrations. If there was any crew in here, I would know it," Kara said condescendingly. A random hand suddenly hit her helmet and floated off. "Oh, fuck me!"
Dirk entered engineering and found rotating metallic blades circling him. "The fuck?" he wondered.
"Those are to allow you to enter the containment field without compromising the magnetic field," Brainiac 5 explained.
"I get that but why did it have to look like a meat grinder?" Dirk asked. Dirk entered the containment field and found coolant floating around in blobs. "We got a coolant leak but well within the safety line. Let me see if I can get some power in here."
Dirk activated the computer and got the lights to turn back on. The Warp drive suddenly became active again. "That's the Warp drive," Brainiac 5 radioed to him.
The Warp drive then glowed intensely. "Oh, yeah, give me some of that cheese," Dirk said as he began to absorb the intense light. The Warp drive then went back to dark. "No, come back," Dirk whined. The Warp drive suddenly became a singularity black hole pulling Dirk towards it. "Oh, shit!"
Nura entered the bridge and found some blood on the console. "I have blood here. Actually, I have entire bodies torn apart and plastered all over the walls. It would seem to suggest that Mon's theory was correct."
"I got another body here. His eyes are gone," Nura said nonchalantly as the body floated about the room.
"Explosive decompression?" Imra guessed.
"Decompression doesn't cause that. As someone who has imploded people's eyes, that's inward pressure," Mon objected.
"Yeah, I'm seeing a lot of cuts and lacerations all over the body. Someone or something definitely fucked him up," Nura reported.
"Can you access the ship's log?" Brainiac 5 asked unconcernedly.
Nura accessed the computer and took out a flash drive of the log.
Dirk struggled against the singularity becoming light itself as he tried to escape it. The energy discharge from the Warp drive and Dirk created sparks all across the Event Horizon and then severely damaged the L&C that was still docked with it. Imra put up a telekinetic forcefield around her as sparks, fire, and debris exploded around her on the bridge of the L&C.
Nura made her way to engineering and found Dirk still struggling with the Warp core. She fired off energy cables around his glowing body and then pulled him away from Warp core. With her other hand, she fired off energy cables to the hull of the ship in the other direction. After some effort by both, Dirk was free of it.
"What the fuck is going on?" Kara demanded as the medical room exploded all around her.
"The hull is breached, we have fires, and we're losing atmosphere," Mon reported from the L&C bridge.
"Can you weld it?" Kara asked.
"Maybe," Mon rolled his eyes.
"Fuck me. Everyone get on board the Event Horizon while I fix the Lois and Clark," Kara ordered. She went over to the bridge, gave the floating corpse an odd look, and then activated the controls. "Activating gravity and thermal units."
Dirk and Nura were suddenly showered in the coolant that had been floating around as blobs before. "This is really gross," Nura said as they were covered in it.
The corpse floating behind Kara suddenly hit the floor and shattered into red pieces.
Moments later, the crew had their suits off with the temperature back to normal. The frozen shattered corpse began to melt as a consequence. "God damn," Kara said at the liquified corpse that began to smell. She fired heat vision at it to incinerate it. "Barney?"
"I brought most primary systems online for now," he reported.
"Imra, what's our status?" Kara asked.
"The antenna is fried. We got no radio," she replied. "The air is going to get stale real fast as carbon dioxide builds up."
"How much time we got?" Kara asked.
"Twenty hours," Imra shrugged.
Kara then noticed the gory remains of bodies plastered onto the wall. "Holy shit, I didn't even notice that. Who did this painting job?" she asked Brainiac 5. He had no answer for her.
Nura then arrived on the bridge. "The Warp core became activated all by itself and tried to suck Dirk into it."
"That's not possible," Brainiac 5 denied.
"I fucking saw it. I was there," Nura insisted.
"It's not possible without the gravity drive becoming activated," Brainiac 5 said condescendingly. "It can't start all by itself."
"Alright, alright, shut the fuck up," Kara said as the two argued. "Now, I have to believe what happened to Dirk could happen to all of us. Nura says she saw shit. I believe she believes she saw shit. I need an explanation for this shit."
"Nura is obviously delusional, confusing things that are not real, mixing up dreams with reality yet again," Brainiac 5 replied.
"Fuck you, Barney," Nura said peeved.
"Maybe she saw an optical effect caused by gravitational distortion," Brainiac 5 suggested.
"Very poetic, Barney. The Warp core tried to suck me and Dirk into its singularity!" Nura shouted.
"Nura, please," Kara shut down. "Barney, what could cause this gravitational distortion?"
"If, somehow, a burst of gravity waves escaped from the core, it could distort space-time to make Dirk seem to disappear. It could also have damaged the Lois and Clark although this is highly unlikely," Brainiac 5 said.
"What's in the core?" Kara demanded.
"It's complicated," Brainiac 5 deflected.
"We got time," Kara pressed.
Kara, Brainiac 5, and Nura went to the core for a boring-ass lecture on how it worked. "Okay, I get it. I studied Warp core engineering on Krypton. I got it. I got the concept. But why the fuck was it necessary for you to design spikes all over this room?"
"It's perfectly safe," Brainiac 5 said defensively.
"Creating artificial black holes, that's dangerous as fuck," Nura chided. "We almost got sucked into it."
"If that did happen, Nura and Dirk would have gone wherever the Event Horizon had gone?" Kara asked.
"It's not a stargate. The Warp core bends the space between any two objects. That's why you have to input a physical destination before you go warp so that you bend the space between where you are and the destination you wish to go," Brainiac 5 explained.
"But it's still possible," Nura insisted.
"Anything is possible, theoretically," he said dismissively.
"I want this room sealed off, no one goes near this thing," Kara ordered.
"Kara, there's no danger. It's perfectly safe," Brainiac 5 said condescendingly.
"Safe? We just went through a meat grinder corridor, a Warp core room filled with spikes, and this thing is surrounded by rotating metallic rings. Looks like a death trap to me, not to mention what this did to Dirk, Nura, and my ship," Kara said annoyed.
Kara went to see how Mon was doing on the hull of the L&C. Kara eyed Mon's work as he welded the tears into the ship. Neither of them was in spacesuits. "Looks like shit," Kara remarked.
"I'd like to see you do better," Mon shot back as a forcefield of air surrounded them both. He fired a few more precise energy shots at the hull to finish his work.
"Alright, get back inside," Kara ordered.
"I'd rather be out here than in that shit-can," Mon replied.
"You scared?" Kara mocked.
On the bridge of the Event Horizon, Kara, Imra, and Brainiac 5 looked over the ship's logs. "We have reached safe distance and now we're about to activate the Warp drive...Oh, God!" Captain Killpack said. The video then became incoherent screaming.
"I'll try to clean it up a bit," Imra frowned.
The ship suddenly fluctuated with its power. "It's the core," Brainiac 5 explained.
"It's always the core, always," Kara said annoyed.
The two went down to the Warp core to check it out. Brainiac 5 opened a compartment with an eerie green glow. "I'm not too keen on going in there," Kara said of the intense green light. Brainiac 5 then entered the corridor to look around. He eventually found a circuit that had been fried. The green light would go off and on occasionally.
As Brainiac 5 worked on the circuit, Kara waited outside. As she did, she saw a corpse resembling Alex rise from the floor in flames. "Well, that's weird."
Kara regrouped the crew to the bridge after the circuit was fixed and power was permanently restored. "It could have been a hallucination due to carbon dioxide poisoning," Brainiac 5 suggested.
"No, I'm a Kryptonian. That wouldn't affect me. It wasn't a hallucination," Kara insisted. "This was real. I felt heat. Mon, have you seen anything?"
"No...but this ship is fucked," Mon replied.
"Thank you for that scientific analysis, Mon," Brainiac 5 said condescendingly.
"Well...how about you figure it out already!" Mon snapped and punched Brainiac 5. Kara had to get between them to avoid Brainiac 5 getting destroyed.
"Knock it off, we only have one drone onboard," Kara rebuked.
"It's just a ship, a big hunk of metal. There's nothing odd going on," Brainiac 5 insisted.
Mon pointed his hand at Brainiac 5 to destroy him. Kara suddenly grabbed him and slammed him onto the table. "That's enough. I want you calm. I want you cool! Be cool, man!"
"I'm going back outside," Mon said, spooked by the ship.
"Fine, fuck it, fix the ship," Kara allowed.
Kara and Imra walked down the corridors of the ship. "I have a theory about the life readings," Imra said.
"There are body parts, blood, and semen coating all the walls of this ship. That explains it," Kara said impatiently.
"I think it's more than that. I think we're experiencing psychic echos," Imra said seriously.
"I don't have time for this shit," Kara doubted.
"The ship is reacting to our presence and it's getting stronger. There could be a living psychic thing on this ship," Imra said.
"Well, you're the psychic. If the ship is alive...kick its ass," Kara ordered.
Suddenly, Dirk got off his medical bed and decided he needed to get some fresh space. So, he went to the airlock without a spacesuit. On the L&C, Kara and Mon were working to repair the ship using their respective powers. "Dirk is in the airlock and not wearing a suit, FYI," Imra reported.
Inside the Event Horizon, Dirk was taking his sweet time contemplating suicide. "Open the door, Dirk," Imra said telepathically to him.
"Did you hear it?" he asked her.
"Yeah, sure," Imra replied.
"It shows you things. Fucked up things," Dirk said.
"Like what?" Imra asked confused.
"The darkness inside me from the other place," Dirk replied.
"Baby bear, open the damn door," Imra ordered.
"Did you just call me a baby bear?" Dirk wondered.
"Stay with me, Dirk," Imra ordered.
"I've seen things," Dirk said vaguely.
"Open the door, Dirk," Imra ordered impatiently.
Dirk's finger hovered over the inner and outer doors and then decided on the outer doors. "Well...shit," Imra said as he was pulled out of the airlock and into space.
Outside, Kara noticed Dirk floating out in space. His human body began to depressurize and freeze but then he ignited into an intense glowing light. "What the fuck am I doing?" Dirk wondered.
"Dirk, get your ass back into the ship," Kara ordered as she flew over to him.
"I can fly, I can feel heat, I can see through the darkness," Dirk said amazed.
"Yeah, no shit. Get back inside," Kara ordered him and then escorted him back into the ship. Dirk stopped glowing and returned to his human form as he entered the ship.
"You good?" Kara asked annoyed.
"Yeah," Dirk nodded.
"I'm putting you in a pod where you'll stay there until this operation is over," Kara ordered.
After dealing with Dirk's bullshit, Kara regrouped with the crew. "Dirk said something about inner darkness and shit," Imra reported.
"It doesn't mean anything," Brainiac 5 said and then walked off.
"Barney, don't you walk away from me. I want some answers. I want to know why one of my men slightly inconvenienced me by taking an unauthorized spacewalk. You built this ship and you've been giving me nothing but bullshit," Kara demanded.
"What do you want me to say? That the ship is haunted?" Brainiac 5 asked incredulously.
"Maybe Event Horizon went to hell instead of Proxima Centauri. Is it possible? Did you send this ship to hell?" Kara asked accusingly.
"I don't know," Brainiac 5 said honestly.
"That's not good enough. You're supposed to be the fucking expert. I need answers. That's your job," Kara said passionately.
"Maybe if I had time," Brainiac 5 allowed.
"That's exactly what we don't have, Barney. We don't have time," Kara told him off and walked off. Kara then heard voices down the hall. "Don't leave me!" Alex's voice said in her head. "For God's sake, help me!"
"Get a grip, Kara. It's just in your head," Kara said and then suddenly saw gory torturous images of Alex. "Oh...fuck me," she realized.
Kara had a little chat with Mara. "I heard her voice. She was calling to me. It was Alex. The last time I saw her was at the DEO. I had ruptured the Warp core of an Insane ship causing a black hole. You ever seen a black hole up close? It's beautiful. I just kept getting hit with wave after wave of light and gravity. I took the black hole away from Earth and ended up in this time," Kara said to her.
"When I was on Mars in this time, I met up with J'onn. He told me that Alex...killed herself. Now, I hear Alex's screaming in my head," Kara admitted.
"You've never told me this story," Mara recalled.
"No, but this ship knows. It knows my fears. It knows my secrets," Kara said.
"I've been listening to the distress signal. I think my translation is wrong," Mara admitted. "It's not 'save us' but 'save yourself' and there's more. It says, 'save yourself...from hell'."
"Shit, Mara, that's critical information," Kara said wide-eyed.
"Oops," Mara shrugged.
"If this ship really has gone to hell, who knows what it has seen, what it has brought back with it," Kara mused.
"Do you really believe in hell?" Mara asked.
"Well, whoever sent that message sure does," Kara evaded.
"Kara, ready to repressurize the Lois and Clark so we can get the fuck out of here," Mon radioed.
"On my way," Kara radioed back.
Kara went to the Lois and Clark and repressurized the ship. Immediately, gasses started to leak out. "We still got a hole," Mon reported.
"God damn it, fix that shit," Kara said annoyed.
"Give me twenty minutes," Mon said lazily.
On the Event Horizon bridge, Imra and Nura were working together. "Want some coffee?" Nura offered.
Imra took a sip and then frowned. "It's cold," she complained.
Nura laughed at her expense and then a video played on the screen showing a horror movie. "Oh, shit! What the fuck?" they both said together.
Kara eyed the video showing the Event Horizon crew performing various orgies, torturing themselves, plucking out their eyeballs, and speaking in Latin. "That's just weird," Kara remarked. "I have assessed the situation, and we're leaving."
"Leaving so soon?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"The crew is dead, we salvaged the ship, we're done," Kara said obviously. "Imra, download the files from the Event Horizon computers."
"What do you intend to do with the Event Horizon?" Brainiac 5 asked.
"I intend to nuke it. Only way to be sure. Fuck this ship," Kara replied.
"The core is draining power to the rest of the ship, FYI," Imra radioed.
"Well...shit," Kara muttered.
"Shouldn't have insulted the ship," Brainiac 5 scolded.
"Everyone, get your gear and get back on the Lois and Clark," Kara ordered.
Mon and Nura collected tubes of oxygen near the Warp core of the Event Horizon to take to the L&C. "Time to go," Mon said impatiently.
"You want to breathe on the way back, right?" Nura asked rhetorically.
"No," Mon said argumentatively.
"Wait, I think I just saw my sister wandering around the Warp core. I want to check it out," Nura said as she looked back.
"Yeah, no," Mon said and then instantly teleported them both to the L&C.
On the hull of L&C, Kon was working to patch up the hole unsupervised. "Damn, I'm good," he smiled as he sealed the leak.
"Kon, how long are you going to take?" Mon asked impatiently.
"Just give me a second to collect my toys," Kon replied.
Mon then noticed Brainiac 5 leaving the L&C and going back to the Event Horizon. "Hi, Barney, get your ass back here."
On the Event Horizon, Kara noticed one of the explosives in the cargo hall was missing. "The fuck?" she wondered. "Hey, Mon, get everyone off the Lois and Clark. I think Barney placed a bomb on it."
"Why would he do a thing like that?" Mon wondered. He dropped down to where Brainiac 5 had been and started looking for the bomb. He finally found it attached to the wall with five seconds to spare. "Some bullshit," Mon said as the bomb exploded in his face.
The L&C exploded and then blasted to pieces section by section until it was gone. Kon was flung off the L&C and into space with a piece of the hull under his feet. "Oh, shit," Kon realized. "Think, Kon. Got to get back to the ship. I'll...fly," Kon figured and then flew off from the piece of the hull. "Yes! Yes!" Kon shouted as he flew right towards the Event Horizon.
Kara entered the medical bay and found Brainiac 5 naked, hung up by cables, and disemboweled of his metallic components. "What the hell?" she wondered. She then saw Mara sitting in a corner staring off into space. "Mara, you okay?" Kara asked as she quickly scanned her. "What happened here?"
"It was a spirit," Mara said wide-eyed. "But I told him to leave."
"A spirit did this?" Kara doubted.
"A spirit that looks like Barney," Mara replied.
Kara went to the bridge not sure what she would find. "Barney? I just want to talk," Kara said as she cautiously approached the captain's chair. On the floor was Imra knocked out with a head injury. Kara snapped her fingers in front of her to wake her up and brought her to her feet. The captain's chair then rotated revealing Brainiac 5 without his eyes. His face was also fucked up with deep lacerations. On his forehead, the letter M was carved into his flesh.
"What's your deal, asshole?" Kara asked him.
"The Event Horizon was meant to reach the stars, but she's gone much farther than that. She went through a gateway to another dimension. A dimension of pure chaos, pure evil. When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back, she was alive," Mephisto said to her. "Look at her, Kara. Isn't she beautiful?"
"Your beautiful ship killed my crew, and I take that personally," Kara rebuked.
"Well, now she has another crew," Mephisto said dismissively. "Now, she has us. You want to know where the ship has been. Let's find out."
Imra telekinetically threw a canister at his head. Mephisto telekinetically threw it aside, grabbed a hold of Imra, and threw her across the room. Kon then smacked into the outside of the hull. "I'm back!" he said excitedly.
"Get out of the way, Kon!" Kara yelled at him.
"Wait...what?" Kon wondered.
Kara fired heat vision at the window that blasted it out. Kon was immediately flung off the ship. Mephisto struggled to remain in his chair. Then, his chair came off the floor. Mephisto leaped off his chair as it went out the window and desperately tried to stay inside the bridge. Kara waited patiently with her boots locked onto the floor. Mephisto eventually was thrown out the window. Kara grabbed Imra and took her off the bridge as the airlock doors closed behind them.
The forward airlock then opened up revealing Kon who was looking dazed and confused. "Okay, Imra, reach out to Mon telepathically. Kon, raise your power-level, so he can sense where you are. Once Mon arrives, get him to take everyone off this ship back to Earth. I'm going to blow it up," Kara ordered.
"I should come with you," Imra said seriously. "In case of a psychic attack."
"I got this," Kara denied. "Lock the door behind me," she ordered as she entered the cargo hall.
As Kon powered up, he noticed blood dripping on his hands from the ceiling. "Blood? That's gross," he said immaturely. He then noticed blood was dripping from the walls. "That's weird," he said genuinely frightened.
Imra, herself, got distracted when the water chamber became filled with blood and then exploded. Imra attempted to create a forefield around herself but ended up covered in blood. Imra was pushed along the floor by the blood and dropped down a shaft to where Kon was. "Yuck," Imra said as she flicked the blood off her.
Mon then instantly teleported into the room with Nura and Mara in his arms. Mon then went over to Dirk's pod and punched through it, draining out all the fluid. Taking everyone by the hand, he then teleported everyone off the ship to Earth.
Kara entered the Warp core and found it on fire. "Hurry up, Mon," Kara said impatiently. A person appeared behind her and bitch slapped her against the wall. Kara hit the wall, got herself on fire, and then fell into a pool of blood near the Warp core. A severely burned Alex who was also on fire walked towards her. "You left me behind."
"Yeah, bullshit. I know who you are," Kara countered.
Mephisto laughed taking on Brainiac 5's appearance with lacerations all over his face and body. "I'm not going to let anyone leave my ship," he said to her. "Did you really think you could destroy this ship?"
"For a moment there, yeah, I kind of did," Kara admitted.
"She's defied space and time. She's been to a place you couldn't possibly imagine. And now, you're fucked," Mephisto told her.
"To hell? How original," Kara rolled her eyes.
"Hell is only a word. Reality is much much worse," Mephisto said darkly. Kara went for a punch only for Mephisto to catch it. Mephisto grabbed Kara by her scalp. "Let me show you."
"No!" Kara screamed as she saw visions of Alex being tortured with barbed wire, maggots, fire, and various other torture techniques.
"You see?" Mephisto taunted.
"No, it's bullshit. She's not in hell," Kara denied. Kara got back to her feet and punched Mephisto with wide swings knocking his head to the side several times. Mephisto eventually blocked her punch and then punched her in the face dazing her. He punched her into the pool of blood and then kicked her for good measure.
"Your crew belongs to me now, just as Alex belongs to me," Mephisto told her.
"Take me. You leave them alone," Kara said sacrificially.
"No, there is no escape," Mephisto replied.
"The gateway is open and you're all coming to me," Mephisto said as the Warp core became a bright light, becoming a portal. "Do you see?" Mephisto asked her in an inhuman voice.
"Yeah, I see," Kara said as she went prime. Kara glowed intensely and then the entire ship exploded in a flash of light. As the ship's remains sank into Neptune's atmosphere, Kara emerged from the clouds.
Author's Notes: A fitting end for the Lois and Clark, to hell she goes. A combination of arrogance and social dysfunction got in the way of the Vindicators just leaving the moment things got weird. There were a lot of similarities between this movie and Sunshine. Event Horizon would have some weird similarities with The Matrix as well. Mephisto is a Marvel villain but I'm going to use him anyway.
