Ginny's eyes widened in surprise. However, before she could form a sentence she heard her daughter's voice.
"Mommy, he has my eye color! We have the same eyes." Haven exclaimed practically running into Draco and hugging him.
Draco had a look of surprise on his face, but tentatively returned the young girl's hug.
"Ginny, I think we need to talk." Draco said looking into Ginny's eyes.
Ginny gathered Haven into her arms and stated, "We do. Draco why don't you come with us to our home? Haven needs to lay down for her afternoon nap."
Draco nodded and Ginny apparatus them all to her cottage.
Stepping inside the cottage, Draco was amazed to see how clean and yet simple it was. He knew the Weasleys were never well off, but he had admired how close their family was. He shuddered at remembering his childhood days with his father.
Ginny walked into Haven's bedroom and laid the young girl in her bed. Haven had immediately fallen asleep as her excitement had tired her out.
Ginny cracked the door to Haven's room and met Draco in her living room.
Draco and Ginny sat near each other on the couch and neither knew what to say at first.
Finally Ginny spoke up, "I should have told you this a long time ago. However, our families are not exactly friendly to one another. I was afraid of what you or your family would do had you found out I had gotten pregnant."
Draco looked into his hands that were clasped on his lap. He then looked into Ginny's eyes, "Why didn't you tell me? I would have helped you through everything."
Ginny was unsure as how to respond at first, but then she stated, "I was afraid you would throw us to the side. I am a Weasley and she is half Weasley. I did not want to burden you or to cause issues with your family."
Draco nodded understanding, but he spoke calmly, "My family has changed. The war made my parents and I realize a lot of things. I would have done anything for you both. I still will. Merlin, I can't believe we have a daughter together. Ginny, I want to be a part of her life and yours as well. That is if you will let me."
Ginny looked at Draco with such compassion that to be honest Draco was surprised to see.
Ginny said, "Of course you will be part of our lives. I wish I would have told you when I found out I was expecting her, but Merlin knows I cannot change that now. I just ask that once she knows you are her father that you will not just walk out of her life."
Draco looked deeply into Ginny's eyes and said, "I would never even dream of abandoning my daughter. Could you tell me about her?"
Ginny smiled and got up to get the photo album she had of Haven. Ginny said, "Haven is really smart. Honestly, there are times I think she is too smart for her own good. She loves watching her uncles fly on their brooms and watch them play quidditch. She is enamored with animals and loves being outside. She is witty and clever, but kind and loving."
Draco smiled at hearing about their daughter. Ginny then sat back down next to Draco and let him open the album of all the pictures.
The first picture he saw was of Ginny being 3 months pregnant. A small bump was visible and she was smiling while cradling her bump lovingly.
Draco smiled and said, "You are always beautiful, but pregnancy definitely suits you."
Ginny blushed at his forward statement, but nevertheless said, "Thank you I really appreciate that. I was worried I would hate being pregnant, but in all honesty it was the best decision I made to keep her."
Draco nodded and turned the page in the album. The picture was of Ginny at about 8 months pregnant. Her stomach was much more swollen, but yet she had this glow and beauty about her.
He continued to flip the pages and landed on a picture of Ginny holding a pink bundle in St. Mungo's. Ginny was absolutely glowing and Draco could see his daughter's face. Merlin she was beautiful.
Ginny noticed a tear sliding down Draco's cheek and she tentatively lifted her finger to wipe it away.
Draco looked at her and said, "I am so sorry. I cannot imagine how hard all of this was for you. I cannot thank you enough for letting me begin to know our daughter. I will do everything in my power to make sure you are both well taken care of."
Ginny smiled and grasped his hand with her own. She looked into his eyes and said, "Just promise to always be there for her. Even if nothing happens between us, I want to know she will always know you as her father and that you will love her."
Draco looked at Ginny and said, "I will. I promise."
Ginny smiled and Draco mentioned he best be getting back to the manor. He did ask Ginny if he could come back tomorrow and spend time with Haven. They both knew they needed to tell Haven about Draco being her father.
After Draco left, Ginny sat on the couch holding the album in her hands. She smiled while looking at the pictures of her young daughter Haven. However, worry came into her mind as she thought of what her family will say knowing Draco wanted to be a part of their lives. She knew she was making the right decision, but knowing the Weasleys as she did she knew it would not go over well.
Sighing, Ginny put the album on the coffee table and crept towards her daughter's room. She peaked in the crack in the door and saw her daughter peacefully sleeping. Ginny smiled and thought that no matter what challenges will come their way that knowing her daughter will know both her parents now is the best outcome.
