Dorm life begins and everyone gets a tour of everyone's rooms. What secrets lie in Suri's room? Nothing too embarrassing, right?
"Well," she then looked back at them. "Let's go home"
With smiles of their own, Mina, Izuku, and Tooru happily nodded and took hands in theirs before striding towards the front door with Suri. It was Izuku that had taken Suri's right hand while Mina took her left hand and finally Tooru took Izuku's right. They walked through the front doors in time for the sun to finally set into night and to see their entire class relaxing in the common room. And of course in time to see Iida… being Iida.
"Communal living! Yet another way to train our sense of law and order!"
"Don't hurt yourself there, Iida," Sero chuckled, shaking his head as he watched the typical overzealous robot routine.
"Honestly, I'm excited about living together," Kaminari said with a smile, sitting on the arm of one of the couches next to Tokoyami.
"Same here," Suri replied as she and her small group came up behind him. "Guess everyone's all put together then, yeah?"
Everyone nodded. Most of them were happy and cheerful towards the beast girl.
"Yeah, especially thanks to your brother," Jirou answered with a cheerful smile standing behind the couch Kirishima and - to Suri's surprise - Shiozaki, were sitting on.
"Agreed. Your mothers were a great help with my room," Momo added from beside her.
"I'm grateful for the help your family provided me as well," Todoroki continued from the end of the couch Kaminari, Tokoyami, and Mineta were sitting on.
"Yeah, we're all just relaxing now," Kaminari grinned happily.
"So yeah! I've been thinking and I had a great idea," Mina began with a wide grin. "Why don't we have a peek in everyone's rooms?!"
Everyone stared at Mina in confusion, then the idea really sunk into everyone's heads. The idea became more favorable and actually sounded like fun. Their first activity living together would be getting to see everyone's individual style. How they lived and what they were like outside of school. It would give everyone insights as to what everyone lived like and it became all the more interesting to everyone. Everyone in class was nervously excited about the idea of getting to show off their rooms.
Even Izuku was mildly excited.
Then he realized something as they were moving from the common area to the stairs on the boys' side of the dorms. Realized it as they came to the first door on the second floor. A door which had a very inconspicuous plaque hanging on the door with two golden yellow attanae like pieces on top of it. The plaque itself reading; Izuku's Room. And upon reading said plaque, Suri, Tooru, Mina, and Ochako all looked at each other with quiet shock and then all at once all of their lips curled with wide excited grins. The four girls, his girlfriends and best friend, rushed the door with the sound of panic behind them.
"Wah! No, no, no! Hold on!"
Suri burst through the door with an excited grin that curled into a smile made of pursed lips that were trying to hold back from bursting into hysterical laughter. Mina and Tooru snorted beside her as they saw the dozens of visages of All Might all over the room. Izuku slumped and hung his head as he slipped past the girls and sulked next to his desk by the bed. He was pouting and by the gods it was adorable.
"Wow, All Might all around," Ochako cheered as she slipped into the room and looked over all of the posters and figurines.
"I-I look up to him," Izuku muttered with a sulking tone. "So embarrassing…"
"Sweetie, you're adorable you know that?" Mina snickered and came to pat his shoulder to comfort him.
"I mean, we kinda knew your room was gonna look like this," Tooru added with a giggle.
Suri giggled and watched the three of them interact when she stopped at Izuku's book shelf and squatted down in front of it. She looked over several of the collectibles and one in particular caught her eye because of its familiarity. The silver age costume donned by the All Might figure wasn't anything new but the subtle defect in the hair pieces caught her eye.
"Yo, Izu," Suri looked up to her boyfriend with a grin. "Is this one of the 17A11's?"
"The batch of collectible figures that got recalled from the stores because of a printing defect? Yeah," he answered, slightly shocked Suri knew that trivia. "Mom was able to get one of them before the rest got sent back to the manufacturer. How did you know?"
"Cause I've got this same one back in Utah," Suri stated happily, poking at All Might's left hair piece which was half a length shorter than the right.
Apparently when the figures had gone to print, the mold had something blocking the one hair piece, resulting in thousands of figurines having mismatched lengths. The manufacturer had caught the mistake and had a recall of the figures but not after a couple hundred had been sold. These figures were now worth a small fortune if the right collector sought them out.
To save any further embarrassment to their boyfriend, Mina and Tooru cheered as they pulled everyone to the room next door. Said room having a very gruff looking bird headed teen posting up in front of the door and blocking everyone's entrance.
"Ridiculous," he quietly humphed.
The pinkette and invisible girl looked at each other and then back to Tokoyami before they pushed him out of the way. The way they did it looked like they were trying to move an entire bookcase blocking the doorway. After a small struggle, they got Tokoyami out of the way and he too sulked into his room after they managed to open the door and everyone got to see inside. The room had dark drapes that kept the room in twilight, while various small lamps bathed the room in a soft ominous violet glow. Then there were the dozens of occult items throughout the room that made Suri's eyes sparkle with delight.
"I remember buying keychains like this in middle school," Kirishima said, holding up a small cross keychain.
"So cool," Izuku muttered from behind Suri as she and their shared girlfriends explored. Then something caught Izuku's attention and he exclaimed his excitement as he pointed at something displayed in the corner of Tokoyami's room. "You have a sword?!"
"Lord protect me as I venture through the threshold of darkness," Shiozaki whispered, crossing herself with her right hand while her left hand clung tight to Kiri's right hand.
"Dude! Tokoyami," Suri happily smiled towards the raven teen. "Your room is absolutely badass. I'm kinda jealous of your desk chair."
"Thank you, Kuroyashi. I appreciate the praise," he responded graciously.
The chair in question looked old, almost victorian style. Totally something that would be the envy of some of the newer undead vampires that were trying to pull off the whole gothic aesthetic.
The next room up was Aoyama's.
As soon as the door opened, they were nearly blinded by the light. The frenchman had several disco balls and mirrors throughout the room which littered the walls and floor with reflected light. It… wasn't surprising or shocking to anyone really but Suri did find the full suit of armor in the corner of his room fascinating.
"This is fun," Ochako said happily as they came out of the room. "Who's left on this floor?"
Every girl suddenly had a sense of dread as an ominous aura emanated from the last doorway in the hall. They all turned to see Mineta leaning out of his door, drooling and creepily motioning for them to come inside. They all rolled their eyes and turned back to head down the hall and up to the third floor. Everyone except for Suri. The beast girl simply pursed her lips, humphed and strutted towards the room and stepped inside.
Suri made sure to note that Mineta had quickly backed away from her and wasn't eye fucking her like he used to. No, he was intimidated by her now. Or scared. Maybe both.
Good.
Whatever debauchery she had been expecting in his room was shot down because inside, it was… anticlimactic. The room itself was nondescript and plain to the point it looked like every other room. The only difference were the few adult figurines he had proudly displayed on his desk of Midnight and Mt. Lady. They were the one tenth scaled versions, which meant they were taller than Izuku's All Might figures and were posed in lewd fashions. Again, it wasn't surprising or shocking at all. Not even the pinup posters on his wall were shocking. It was very… horny teenage boy room. She'd expected more, like porno magazines and DVDs strewn everywhere, a crusty sock… something. But no it was just so… plain.
"Ya know," Suri sighed as she looked around. "I was expecting worse. Your room's kinda.. boring, dude."
"Really?" he said with shock and watched as Suri simply shrugged, walked out and joined the rest of the class on the third floor.
They were already poking around Ojirou's room who, like Mineta, backed away from Suri as she entered. She noticed him pursing his lips in her presence before he quickly fixed his expression in the next second when he saw her looking at him. Again, it was another reaction she'd mentally noted to herself.
The tailed teen's room was just like Mineta's. Nothing worth noting or anything that really stood out at all. It was just so… plain. Even more so than the resident pervert's because he didn't have the figurines or posters to add any sort of spice to it. In short, Ojiro was very very basic. Like, worse than white girl basic basic.
Next was Iida's room. His reaction to Suri entering his room wasn't as cold as Ojirou or as scared as Mineta. His was somewhere between apologizing for spilling her secrets and whether he should still trust her or not. Then Suri realized she couldn't remember if he'd voted in favor of her staying or not. At this point it was sixes. Her attention went from him to his room and she softly smiled and nodded as she looked around. Of course Iida's room was very Iida with quite literally hundreds of books that were all academic or informative in nature ranging from dictionaries to medical journals. It was also incredibly well put together and tidy which was most notably so of his collection of eyeglasses.
The guy literally had two dozen pairs of the same glasses all prominently displayed.
"He's obsessed!" Ochako snorted and laughed.
"Is that so unreasonable?! I expect to go through many pairs during our intense training!"
Okay. He did have a point and that did make sense.
Sort of.
Next on the list was Kaminari and Suri froze in awe as she walked inside. She froze because it was like walking into a place that was so incredibly familiar to her and she had to look at Kaminari. Suri had to make sure it was Kaminari's room and not Dante's because they quite literally had the same choice in design and style. Just switch the black and yellow on the bedspread to black and green and it was Dante. A little bit of everything was in here; from collected license plates, a record player, dartboard to pass the time, a skateboard, shelves made from skate decks. On one of his shelves it was a mix between random junk, trinkets, and a collection of vinyl records. Suri could see most of them were punk, ska, rock, and metal albums, all of which Dante had in his room. They even had the same taste in boy bands and pop groups. Now that she thought about it Kaminari and Dante had hit it off pretty well and had hung out a lot today.
"Wow, Kaminari," Suri chuckled softly as she looked around. "I can see why you and Dante got along great. You hire his interior designer in here?"
"Right?" Kaminari laughed with a happy grin. "He's a really cool guy. Me and Jirou have a ton in common with him so it was cool to sit and chat with him after we got everything moved in."
"Honestly," Suri smiled and walked with the electric user as they moved from his room to the next. "I'm glad y'all showed my family a good time and were able to get along with them."
"Why wouldn't we?" he asked curiously with a grin on his face as he walked with his arms behind his head.
"Because… well," Suri gave him a mockingly playful face that said duhh why do you think and pointed towards herself. "Ya know."
Kaminari simply softened his expression and gave Suri an apologetic look. He knew the reactions she'd gotten from some of their own friends and classmates. The electric user simply couldn't bring himself not to trust Suri and it wasn't just because she had helped him during the entrance exams. He could honestly say that he never once questioned Suri's loyalty or friendship towards any of them. Monster or not, Quirk or not, Suri was just... Suri.
Suri's expression changed to complete, happy shock as they all slipped into the next room and peered inside. She had to look up at Koda with a pleasant smile as she looked from him back to his drapes, bedspread, and area rug. Cause there was no way...
"So am I responsible for the color choice, big guy?" Suri giggled and happily shook her head as she looked back over the golden green colored items in his room.
He simply blushed and smiled, not saying a word or denying the implication.
Then she found her girlfriends and Ochako happily cooing and squealing. Suri's eyes widened and she couldn't help but aww as well as she found the large white rabbit being happily shared and petted by the girls. Suri happily grinned and squatted down in front of the trio but frowned when the bunny relented and backed away from her. Her lips pursed and she gently extended a hand, her index finger hanging loosely to let the animal curiously scent her. Of course it scented carnivore and immediately thought of danger to which Suri sighed and gave the rabbit a smile.
"I'm not gonna hurt you lil buddy, we're gucci," she said softly. "But if you're too nervous, I totally get it."
The rabbit nuzzled at Suri's finger before backing away quickly. Yeah, her and the rabbit were on good enough terms apparently.
"Isn't it weird that only the boys are showing off their rooms?" Mineta scoffed, clearly upset that the girls liked Koda's room the best. It had been voiced that the tall shy boy had cheated by having a bunny. "This is an exhibition, right? So if we're gonna pick a winner, we should see the girls' rooms too!"
Suri turned and stood up, somehow having placed herself between the girls and the boys. She looked down at Mineta and wrinkled her brow in thought and then shrugged. He was right.
"All right bet," she said, beginning to grin. "Might as well find out who the best interior decorator in our class is."
"That's a great idea! Exactly what I was thinking," Mina cheered happily. "Time to decide the first annual Class 1-A's King of Rooms!"
And with that they went on to the fourth floor.
"Hmm, so this floor is Bakugou, Kirishima, and Shoji, right?" Ochako asked, pondering out loud to no one in particular.
"Where is Bakugou, anyway?" Suri asked, looking around the group.
"Eh, he said this is dumb, I'm going to bed," Kirishima answered. "I'm getting tired too."
"As am I," Shiozaki answered next to him, yawning softly.
Kiri yawned immediately after her.
"Then let's hurry and pick up the pace," Tooru said cheerfully.
"All right, whatever you say. You girls probably won't get it, though," he answered and opened his door before flashing a grin and flexing his arms. "This manliness!"
Everyone mentally cringed but all put on a supportive face as they looked inside Kirishima's room. It's not that it was bad… but it was bad. The girls then looked to Shiozaki who gave her boyfriend a loving, supportive smile. The kind that said I love you but I have no idea how I put up with your antics sort of thing. The room was turned to eleven but if you took away the flaming window drapes, it would have made the room way less loud. Also, there was no reason for the punching bag stand to be dead center in the room. Overlooking the odd placement and overly macho tone of the room, it fit Kiri in sort of a weird endearing way. Made even better by the fact that, even though the vine haired girl was questioning a lot of things, she'd helped make this room his own and didn't question how she felt for him.
"Kiri," Suri snickered as she looked around and then looked the redhead in the eye. "I've just gotta ask… why those drapes? Those are so bad."
"Oh come on! Those are super cool and manly," he protested.
"Oh my sweet, Eijirou," Shiozaki sighed quietly with a smile, shaking her head and hanging it as she tried not to laugh.
Next up was Shoji which made everyone stare blankly at the room. As blank as the room itself because the only things in it were his bed and his desk. The bed was nothing more than a futon mattress and a pillow and his desk was barren with only a floor cushion in front of it to sit on. It was… just sad.
"Yeah," he sighed and shrugged. "Ever since I was a little kid I've never cared much for owning anything at all."
Suri looked at the big guy with concern and pursed her lips. She mentally decided she'd try and get to know Shoji a little better because out of everyone, he was the one everyone knew the least about. It made her honestly sad that it had taken her til just now to realize that.
That thought carried her to the fifth floor and to Sero's door. The girls especially were blown away when the door opened and they got to see inside because the incredibly chic style did not match. The tape user did not seem like the kind of guy to have such a sauve afro cuban cabana kind of interior design. His room made you feel like you were about to head to a tropical beach just a few yards away.
"So exotic!" Mina and Tooru swooned happily.
"Sero, bro," Suri chuckled with a grin. "I really fuckin dig your place."
"Never guessed you to be so stylish, Sero," Jirou finished Suri's thought.
"Heh," he chuckled nervously. "Just call me Sero Surprise! Heh…"
Awkwards jokes aside, next came Todoroki. Suri remembered Mathias and Rossi being completely exhausted after helping with his room and she had wondered why. What did he have that wiped them out completely? Did he…
"So Japanese," everyone gasped in shock as they peered inside.
Because not only was his room completely opposite of what they had expected it had taken those expectations and smashed them into bits. And they'd done this in less than a day? Just… How? Fucking how?
The room that was once a standard single bedroom now looked like the inside of a traditional Japanese pagoda. The floors, the ceiling, the room itself all completely renovated from top to bottom. It made Suri and the others turn to him with utter disbelief.
"My family's home is traditionally Japanese so I don't like modern flooring," he said evenly and nonchalantly. Like that explained everything.
"But how did you remodel all of this in less than a day?!" Kaminari and Mineta shouted.
"Hard work."
Oh gods, this awkward little goofball was going to be the death of them all.
"So that's all of us on the boy's side," Izuku said as they were leaving Todoroki's room and heading towards the stairwell and elevator bay. "Guess that means it's time for the girl's rooms?"
"Yup," Suri smiled softly, walking beside him.
"Are we sure that it's okay? To just be peeking into everyone's rooms like it's not a big deal?"
"Sweetie," Mina leaned into him, wrapping an arm over his shoulder. "We all saw all of your guys' rooms so it's only fair. Plus! We can't vote for a King of Rooms if we haven't seen all the rooms, right?"
"I guess you're right," he chuckled and smiled at the pinkette.
"Besides," she grinned and happily leaned into him again. "It's not like you're going to be a stranger to seeing our rooms. I mean you're probably gonna be sleeping in them a lot."
Mina happily gave Izuku a devilish grin as she delivered her last line with a sort of purr into his ear, low enough that practically only he could hear it. It made Izuku flush to red and quietly make noises of protest and embarrassment though he was trying especially hard not to draw attention to him or his girlfriends. The response to that was Tooru and Mina continuing to tease the greenette, trying to get him to break and fluster like he normally did sometimes. It was cute and fun to watch and was a pleasant distraction until everyone gathered in front of the last door on the second floor of the girls' wing.
Suri took a deep breath and went to the door when she realized where they were and what was going on. She took the door knob in her hand, gripped it and then relented. Suri turned back to everyone and gave a weak smile as she gauged everyone's level of anticipation.
"So," she said nervously. "Full disclosure, I dunno what's behind this door. My mom and little brother kicked me out and put it together for me. Now before anyone says anything about getting off easy I spent my time helping Tooru and Mina set up their rooms instead. My point is that we're all about to see my room for the first time."
Suri closed her eyes tight, swallowed her nervousness and turned the handle quickly before pushing her way inside with a jolt. It left her with no way of turning back and forced her to confront the nerves about what was behind the door. She stormed herself forward and then stopped a few paces inside before she finally opened her eyes and a wash of joy, nostalgia, and awe came over her. Her eyebrows raised and her lips pursed in happiness as she was transported in that instant back to her family home in Salt Lake.
At the center of the floor was her area rug, one that covered most of the floor between her bed and the desk. It was black with geometric designs in grey and white across it forming a sort of honeycomb pattern. Hers and most everyone's eyes started on the left wall, drawn there because of the lighting that zigzagged its way from the ceiling to the top of her desk and dresser. The fairy lighting glowed softly against the walls, creating small halos near each small bulb and drawing attention to the dozens of pictures hung onto them with paperclips.
The fairy lighting made Tooru squeal with joy because she'd mentioned the idea several times and was finally getting to see it in person. Both she and Mina were smiling ear to ear as they looked over every picture and found that it was photos of the three of them mixed together with photos of Suri back in Salt Lake with family, friends, rockstars, and pro athletes. The plain dresser that had been provided was switched out for one from home like a lot of the teens had done. It was a wide six drawer dresser, mostly white and weathered with the wood grain coming through as a dark grey. On top of that, she surprised most of her classmates, especially when Suri mentioned her babies and went to them, inspecting the potted plants on either end of her dresser. It intrigued Shiozaki the most.
"I didn't take you as the gardening type," she said softly, inspecting the small and medium sized pots and the plants inside them. "Though I do see you have a type you enjoy. Succulents are a very good choice."
"I'm surprised my Transcendias are still doing well," Suri said, smiling as her fingers ran over the long, slender dark purple and green leaves of the plants potted alongside a rather large sized aloe plant in the center of the pot. "Hunter must've been keeping them watered for me."
Her eyes moved to her desk and sighed happily as she saw her laptop, and a pair of recording monitors on either side of it. She then grinned when she looked to the side of the desk and found a piano roll keyboard propped against the wall. And next to that in the corner was a slim floor lamp that snuck its way between the wall and the desk and came to curve over the desk which would allow it to bathe the entire surface in light. It was Jirou who ended up the most intrigued and excited about this corner of Suri's room for several reasons.
"Mackie CR-3's? Those are nice little monitors," she said with a grin, inspecting the black speakers that had a small lime green accent line around them. Then her eyes went wide when she found something hiding just behind the teal colored floor length drapes. "Wait! Is that?!"
Suri cocked an eyebrow as she watched Jirou and then her eyes widened with surprise and excitement as the rocker girl picked up what had been hidden behind the curtains. The two girls squealed excitedly as Jirou ran her hands over the sleek body of a bass guitar, adoring the dark purple sunburst paint job. For obvious reasons of course. Suri watched as Jirou placed the guitar in her hands, propping the bottom of the body on her knee as her fingers wandered and explored the frets and heavy strings.
"This is gorgeous! I had no idea you played bass," Jirou said as she thumbed and fingered along the fretboard. "I've been wanting to learn to play a five string for a long time. How long have you been playing?"
"That's not the only thing she plays," Tooru said happily and the two girls turned to see the invisible girl holding up a slim, long black case. She'd opened it to reveal the matching purple velvet interior which made the polished instrument inside stand out.
Suri grinned and pulled out the main piece, holding it firmly while she fitted the other half of the flute to it and then slipped the mouthpiece on. A quick adjustment to the piece and a light wave of her fingers tapping the pads made her shiver with happiness before she placed it to her lips and blew softly. It made everyone focus on the beast girl as she blew into the flute and quietly let it flutter out a tune. It went well for the first few seconds until she tried a note that fell incredibly flat. She pulled back, grumbling as she eyed the mischievous pad in question to see what the issue might have been. Then she remembered why she hadn't played her flute in over a year now.
"Damn, I forgot that pad's fucked up," she sighed and tapped it.
Jirou grinned as she looked over the perfectly polished instrument and inspected the pad. She hummed to herself in thought and then looked up to Suri.
"Mind if I take a look at it? I might be able to fix it," the purplette said. "If I can't, I'm pretty sure my pops could. My parents know pretty much everything about every musical instrument ever."
Suri eyed her flute and then the girl before smiling softly and nodding. She took it apart, placing it gently back into its case before handing it over to Jirou. She ran her fingers across the case in Jirou's hands before looking past her and to her bass.
"I forgot how much I missed these things," Suri sighed happily. "To answer your questions, I've been playing the flute since I was six. My mom, Alexis, is a classically trained singer and musician and she wanted all of us kids to study a little bit. I started playing bass about five years ago and I got my Schecter five string for my birthday last year."
"Dante mentioned something about that," Jirou said. "He was a huge help and it was fun talking shop about bands and playing music."
"Yeah," Suri chuckled. "He picked up the most. Naturally. He plays guitar, drums, piano, cello, violin, and the harp. Out of all of us, he's the best singer but Hunter could probably give him a run for his money," she laughed.
"I didn't know you sang," Kaminari grinned as he too took the time to look over Suri's instrument collection. He had been thoroughly intrigued with the dozens of posters that covered the entirety of the wall her bed was set against.
"She's sung us to sleep a few times," Mina answered nonchalantly as she looked over the posters as well.
"She sings more when she's by herself when she thinks no one can hear her," Tooru chuckled. "I've caught her a ton of times."
"Wait! Really?" Suri exclaimed, shocked by that reveal.
"Trust me," Jirou giggled softly. "You're not the only one who's nervous to sing around people."
That made Suri look at Jirou for a long moment. It was nice to know someone who had the same nervousness and fear about something that seemed so insignificant to others.
"Honestly, I think the thing that's throwing me off the most are these," Ochaco said, turning everyone's attention to her. She was currently holding up Mr. Squeak, happily inspecting the plushie penguin and referring to the others above Suri's bed. Suri had just now noticed.
"Oh. Hehe," Suri chuckled nervously. "Would you believe penguins are my favorite animal?"
"Ya know," Kaminari snickered, looking at the small group of stuffed penguins. "It'd be super embarrassing if they all had names and stuff."
Suri froze and shrunk a little as her cheeks began to burn and her skin began to fill with a shade of red. Kaminari noticed the reaction and his eyes went wide with humor. He then grinned wide and continued to poke at Suri's embarrassment. It was rare for her and her classmates would enjoy exploiting what they could.
"All right! So you gonna introduce your friends," he teased, which earned him a flick from Jirou's headphone jacks.
Suri simply sighed and gave a weak smile.
"That one's Mr. Squeak, I've had him since I was a baby," Suri answered, pointing to the plushie in Ochako's hands. "Then up there we have Rae, Mimi, Smalls," she continued, pointing from the teal and purple penguin to the coincidentally pink one that nearly shared its name with her girlfriend and then the grey penguin that was the smallest of the group on the shelf above her bed. "Then we have Xander," she said, pointing to the grey wolf still sitting on the bed and then finally to a bright mint colored racoon plushie next to it. "And last, but not least, that's Voodoo."
"Wow, so you can be girly," Mineta scoffed with a smirk. "That's a surprise."
That too earned a hard smack from Jirou's earphone jacks and a deep scowling glare from all of the girls. Before Suri could say anything or retaliate, Tokoyami brought up a wonderful distraction that made Suri's eyes widen with the same excitement from before.
"Kuroyashi, I was not aware that you were a kindred spirit of the dark arts as well," he said, pondering over a small structure at the wall opposite of the foot of her bed. "Though I am not familiar with any of these symbols or tokens."
"Neither am I," Shiozaki said, audibly shivering and quickly crossing herself like she'd done in Tokoyami's room.
"Oh my Gods, my altar!" Suri shouted happily and took a bounding step towards Tokoyami and instantly went to her knees on the small ground mat he was standing beside. With a wide happy grin, she let her fingers brush over several objects including bark, sage, and several iron trinkets and necklaces. As she let her fingers dance over the items that made up her personal altar she answered Tokoyami. "I'm not a practitioner of the dark arts. I align more towards heathenism and what you'd call paganism. I've told Shiozaki before that my beliefs reside in the Norse and Orisha pantheons and the five figurines you see here are the gods and goddesses I'm aligned to. This altar is where I pray, make offerings to my protectors, perform ritual, and replenish magic. It's not really that different from Shiozaki praying to a crucifix or carrying prayer beads."
That made the vine haired girl ponder the comparison and then she slowly nodded with realization. Then both she and Tokoyami knelt down on either side of Suri and took closer looks at the various objects and small statues. Tokoyami was particularly pleased with the tarot deck sitting on the edge of the table next to the wall. Soon everyone crowded around them to take a closer look.
"You know, you mentioned it a few times but I didn't know how much stuff an altar would have," Tooru said.
"Well, when you pray to four deities and a patron saint, it gets pretty crowded pretty fast. That's why a lot of my stuff is small tokens that can be easily moved and arranged. Ya know," Suri answered with a warm smile.
"I recall the names of the deities, but I'm afraid I don't recognize which of them is which," Shiozaki said to which Tokoyami nodded his agreement.
"First is Mani," Suri replied, pointing to the first figurine on the far left that was an old man with a long beard and holding a lunar eclipse in front of his chest. "Norse god of the moon and brother of Sol, the god of the sun. When we think of the man in the moon? It's him that we're talking about. Next to him is Mawu," Suri said, moving to the next figurine which depicted a woman dancing with a snake encircling her body and holding a crescent moon in one of her hands. "Orisha goddess of the moon and night, creation, and dreams. The all mother that made us from clay and inspires our dreams."
Suri smiled especially wide when she came to the figure in the center. Her fingers lightly brushed across the face of the tall woman that wore a head piece with two large horns that Shiozaki would surely think of as devilish. Her shoulders were adorned with pelts of fur and two massive braids that came down to cover her breasts. Her hips were then wrapped in pelts and a dress of animal skins draped its way to the base of the statue which had several runes carved into it. She looked outward with a stoic glance and held a spear to her side. Suri closed her eyes and made a motion over her heart in the shape of a pentagram.
"In the middle is Angrboda, my primary goddess. Mother of wolves, mother of monsters, mighty warrior and sorceress, and Hag of the Iron Wood of Jotunheim. And," she continued with a wry grin, "wife and mate of the trickster god, Loki. How else could I handle two objects of chaos and trickery and one massive trouble maker at once and love them with all my heart?" She turned that wide, sly grin behind her directly towards Tooru, Mina, and Izuku.
It made them all blush.
"The one beside her is Azunaihara," Suri said, brushing her fingers over the statue. The figure itself was as imposing as Angrboda, a tall woman dressed in animal pelts and woven silks. She was as gracious and stoic as she was fierce and foreboding, wearing a crown of jewels that pushed the thick braided dreadlocks down her back. Two large braids mimicked the figure next to her with her hair covering her bare breasts and, just like Angrboda, Azunaihara wore a shoulder covering made of two animal heads, one being a lion and the other a wolf. The belt that held her skirt up was animal pelts as well but the skirt itself had intricate designs across the woven silk before opening to show her shins covered in guards made of tightly woven grass. "She's the patron saint of my dad's side of the family. A warrior queen who went toe to toe with a viking king, won and was given the gift to call beasts, and then became his lover. Her tribe became the first black vikings and the reason our heritages are so intertwined."
"And it is one of her granddaughters that I am named after and was the first Lupa of our clan," Atiena added with a smile.
"And finally is Ori," Suri said, pointing to the fifth and final figurine of a tall man, his head wrapped in silks that draped down his back in almost a cape-like fashion. He too wore the same loose silks as Queen Azunaihara around his waist but his stature radiated calmness and spirituality opposed to stoic ferocity. His hands were brought in against his chest and he held a ball of smoke and wind. "The god of spiritual intuition, destiny, and human consciousness. He's also a sort of messenger between us and the gods we pray to, no matter which flavor of religion or spirituality we practice."
"Interesting," Shiozaki answered as she thought about what Suri had said. "So if I were to pray with you, this one would still deliver my prayers to God?"
"In theory, yes," Suri shrugged and smiled at the vine haired girl.
"So it'd work with all of the shinto and local gods too right?" Kirishima asked next as he leaned over his girlfriend from behind.
"Like, I said, it should," Suri shrugged again. "This is my personal altar but I still make offerings like you would at most shrines and whatnot. For a lot of us, our altar is a sort of recharging station for our beasts and where we can replenish energy and keep synced up. The other shrine we have is our place of power for Lupanars. Each one has an item or something that's blessed and consecrated by a witch and creates a magic circle around it. But if what I felt at the Pussycats' camp was any indication, it could just be the area's natural magic."
"Are you saying that magic is real," Todoroki asked.
"Oh yeah, you shoulda seen her when she felt it and touched it up there," Mina snickered and nudged her girlfriend's shoulder from behind.
"You… feel it?" he asked again, still confused.
"Yeah, I'm not following either," Sero chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "How do you touch magic?"
"It's… like touching a breeze," Suri said simply, trying to explain it as simply as she could. "Like a lot of it is just wispy kinda touches. Like up at the camp, did any of you ever just reach out and let a breeze brush through your hands but there wasn't any wind at all? I know it's a weird question to ask."
Koda nodded and raised his hand. Suri knew that about him though. Then Suri watched all three of her lovers cautiously put their hands up. Tooru and Izuku hadn't been a surprise but Mina was, knowing she wasn't as metaphysically sensitive. Shiozaki and Tokoyami both put their hands up as well. Jirou's hand went up cautiously as well and she seemed rather embarrassed by that fact. Momo, Ochako, and Sero were trying to recall if they did and Kaminari, Kirishima, Todoroki, Iida, and Mineta all just sort of shrugged. The fact that half her class had their hands raised made Suri's eyes go wide because it meant each one had physically felt her power at some point in time.
"So for everyone that has, it's sort of a soft breeze or just a feeling you get. For me, since my power and abilities are more or less magic based… It umm," Suri chuckled nervously and gave her classmates a shy smile.
"Feels quite divine."
Everyone's eyes went to Shiozaki then, who quickly slapped her hands over her mouth and stared at everyone wide eyed and horrified that her internal thought had come out. Her pale skin flushed to an almost identical shade of red as Kirishima's hair, to which he simply grinned and began chuckling softly. She was going to start crying from sheer terror of what she admitted when a pair of arms wrapped her from behind and settled her against his chest. He whispered into her ear, making her nod and she slowly calmed down and rested into Kiri as she waited for her embarrassment to die down. It had also helped that Suri had taken her hand and her eyes reassured the girl that there was no shame in what she had felt or experienced for herself. It was just… natural.
"I'm getting bored in here, can we get a move on and see the rest of the girls' rooms? It wasn't as sexy in here as I was expecting," Mineta groaned and began to walk towards the door. He then stopped and his eyes went wide as he looked towards the doorway. Suri was about to snarl obscenities at him when his next question made her blood run cold. "Umm, Kuroyashi, where did you get this poster?"
He was drooling.
Oh.
Oh no!
"Kuroyashi! You need to take down that poster this instant," Iida screamed and berated her. "W-Why would you hang such a poster up? And In your doorway no less!"
All of the girls in the room looked at the offensive poster Iida was screaming about and began snickering. It all but confirmed her horror of what poster it could be. And she would be having a very angry and embarrassed phone call with her mom and brother about who's bright idea it was to hang it.
"I can see why you were afraid at camp," Todoroki said calmly, his eyes awkwardly tracing over the image. Suri looked up in horror and she could feel herself die from embarrassment. "It must have been hard to focus on the lessons knowing you were picturing Miss Ragdoll like that."
And with that, Suri squealed like an embarrassed little girl. Much to everyone's entertainment.
