Suri meets the little queen of the local werelion pride. Suri is reminded why she hates vampires.
Suri's eyes fluttered open and she let out a long, deep groan thanks to the throbbing headache she was feeling. Her nose flared from the unfamiliar scents surrounding her and then her frustration skyrocketed as she looked up and found yet another unfamiliar thing. Her vision cleared slowly and she slowly took in the ceiling above her and let out a growl as her memories began to return and fill in the blanks.
Silver lining? At least it wasn't another goddamn hospital room.
Down side? The black and gold crown around the edges of the ceiling made it clear where she was. The ceiling overdid itself because there was a lion's head sculpted into it peering directly down at the massive bed Suri was laying on. Its eyes and mouth glowed with bright light so it helped to illuminate the center of the room while the gold LEDs around the edges let a warm wash of light surround the room. It was surprisingly warm and cozy for its normal occupant who was anything but warm and cozy. No, he was ice cold and extremely dangerous.
"Fucking bloodsucker," Suri hissed as she forced herself to sit up, clench her eyes, and count to ten to try and get the headache to go away, The throbbing pain was replaced by the scent of rage and sun baked grass which made Suri sigh in exasperation. "Great, lions too."
"You'll have some respect for my master, mutt," a girl hissed as the sound of her shoes clacking against the ground got closer and closer. By the sound of her voice and steps, Suri realized it might not have been the smartest thing to say. Especially if the power radiating off of her was any indication because the weight of her energy was practically like looking in a mirror for Suri.
"What does he see in you anyway?" she muttered angrily under her breath.
It made Suri open her eyes slowly and look up to find a girl about her same height standing over her with her fists dug into her hips. The deep scowl did nothing to mask the bright mint green color to her eyes, which Suri could admit that, even when angry, looked really pretty. That said, she could only see one iris because her hair covered the other. It was a style that Suri particularly liked because it was one she'd worn herself but unlike this girl, she didn't have to perm it into the thick bundles of curls. It was a permed undercut with one side having curled bangs that draped over one side of her face to her chin while the rest draped down just above her shoulders. It was a great hairstyle on her especially in the way that it tricked Suri because she thought it was strawberry blonde at first only to realize that it was pink in different points of lighting. It occurred to Suri that the girl's hair was neither blonde, red, or pink, it was literally rose gold in color. It helped to accentuate her skin making it an almost gold tone rather than tan and that's when Suri realized that the girl in front of her was biracial just like she was.
Her memory flashed to the last time she was around the vampires and the werelion that she had assumed was the Rex and head honcho of all of the big cats. Suri had a pretty good idea that this girl was his kid.
Aside from the hair, eyes, and pretty complexion, Suri was able to admire the toned muscle that the girl's outfit offered. It was simple enough with a black sleeveless collared button down shirt which was unbuttoned down to her chest. The shirt itself was short so it exposed a little bit of her stomach before the black knee length skirt came into play riding midway on her hips. The skirt would have rode lower if not for the gold suspenders clipped to them because Suri realized that the gold chain around her waist wasn't a belt, it was a weapon. The ends of the chain was a series of gold cat tails that dangled down the front of her thighs, giving the illusion of jewelry attached to a belt. In all actuality, if you were to be whipped by either end of the chain, it would leave some really nasty lacerations and bruising. It was interesting enough that Suri didn't realize she'd leaned forward to take a closer look at it when she heard the girl scoff.
"Oh. Now I get it," she snorted angrily and turned on her heel abrasively before storming forward to the door.
The actions made Suri's brow furrow and she watched the girl with a look of confusion before she looked down at herself and realized what she was meaning. Her violet colored halter top that she'd worn to the date was low cut, because she deliberately wore it for the girls. In the shifting to sit up on the bed she hadn't realized her girls were trying to make an escape and she'd all but flashed the werelion storming away from her. She then made the realization that the angry werelion was fuming with jealousy. So Suri did the most diplomatic thing she could think of as she adjusted her top and stood up off the bed before following the angry girl.
"Look, hun, I'd trade you a cup size or two if I could. Believe me," Suri said with a light chuckle, trying to ease the tension in the room. "And your guy, De'whatever? I don't want him! Seriously, he's all yours cause my dance card is stacked as is."
"Tch, nice try," she scoffed and reached for the door to the massive room.
"Look," Suri growled and hit the door with a burst of speed, forcing it closed again as she pinned the lioness between her and the hard surface. Suri paused to speak again when she realized the girl's own speed as the girl already had claws drawn and pressed to Suri's neck as she faced her. Suri hadn't even realized she'd turned around to face her so that her back was to the door. It was speed that rivaled her own, there hadn't been a release of power, and the hand against Suri's neck was now partially beast. It left Suri stunned. "I… Seriously? You were able to do a partial transformation without a flux in power?"
"Yeah. What of it?" she hissed and pressed her claws tighter against Suri's neck.
"That… Fuck, I can't even do that yet," Suri raised her eyebrow and gave the girl a weak smile.
"Lying will get you nothing from me," she spat back and angrily pushed Suri away from her so she could open the door and begin down the long hallway, one that was identical to the one she'd walked down when she'd first met Yasuke. "Now come on, he's already waiting for you, your highness."
"Girl, I am not lying," Suri rolled her eyes and shook her head as she followed the lioness. She groaned as she raced to catch up and begin walking beside the girl. "Look, let's try this shit again, okay? I'm-"
"Suri Kuroyashi-Okwondu. I know who you are. We all do. I know that you go by your mother's maiden name one, because you ran and disassociated with your father for a time but two, because you don't want praise because of your daddy's name. Sound about right?" The lioness said in a sarcastic sing-song voice that made it clear she was unhappy and not amused by Suri being here in the slightest. "And yet, you keep getting gifted everything you want."
"Look, hun-"
"Akeno."
"A-Akeno… I don't know how to make this more clear. I. Don't. Want. Him," Suri pleaded as she walked beside the werelioness. "Trust me."
"You may not want him now," she said and Suri watched the anger on her face slip to sadness and longing. There was a short pause and then she spoke in a small voice full of pain and need. "But you will."
With that, Akeno opened a large pair of double doors at the end of the hall and trudged inside, storming away from the pause where her emotions had been on display. Suri understood the need to forcefully stomp the emotions of need and longing away because it was something she'd done plenty of herself. Any thought of that was replaced by her own anger as she stepped through the doors into a massive room bathed in golden lighting. What Suri expected to be a massive office like Yasuke had, felt more like a nightclub with ballroom lighting that showed all of the black marble around the room in great detail. The center of the room was a wooden dance floor that had been treated with a metallic colored stain so that it made the wood grain look like it was made from solid gold. At the far end of the room was a massive black circular table flanked by two large white quarter circle benches on either side of a gold and black executive chair. It was essentially a corner booth at a fancy nightclub that had been chopped up and was now masquerading as a sort of over embellished business mogul's desk.
To add to that sentiment was the fact that the music filling the room was remixed versions of classical baroque. Currently playing was Beethoven's Fur Elise but remixed to have added snyths, heavy sub bass, and 808 drums to create a sort of Atlanta style trap beat. Suri enjoyed it - would have loved it even - if it wasn't for one factor and that was the guy sitting in that executive chair at the head of the room. The second factor that angered her even more now was that she noticed Mina dancing to the music at the center of the room. Angered her because her movements weren't her own and felt as lifeless and dead as the one controlling her because no one could copy her energy and flare of style she had when she danced.
"Ah, I see you've finally-"
"Let her go you bloodsucking motherfucker," Suri spat, her fists balling as she stomped towards Mina at the center of the dancefloor. Her anger grew hotter as she found her dates all staring forward just as blank and lifeless lined up behind the booth styled desk. "Let them all go."
"You're very resilient, kitten," De'Jon chuckled, smirking as he rested his chin on the backs of his wrists and watched Suri with an amused expression. "Father had said you had done well to break his illusions. I didn't expect you to wake from my dream so easily."
"I'm not here for flattery. You either release them or I stake you," Suri growled as she wrapped her arms around Mina but found that it didn't break the mind tricks. She struggled to try and keep her still without hurting her while Mina continued to try and dance to the music. "You know damn well we're in the right to do that."
"Ah, yes, just as cold blooded as I had heard. No wonder Gemini took so much of a liking to you," the vampire replied, all of the humor in him slipping away into a cold emotionless mask.
Suri snorted and looked at the vampire with a look of disgust and disbelief before she turned back to Akeno.
"Pfft! Is he for real?"
Suri shook her head at the lioness who began walking from the now closed doors towards the desk. She said nothing but gave Suri something that had a flash of being apologetic but not and was clearly saying something like I'm sorry, but you totally deserve this. Upon seeing that look Suri began slowly nodding and realized why Akeno was so okay with all of this.
"Fine. The hell do you want, De'Jon, was it? What do I have to do to make this stop?" Suri motioned towards Mina who was still dancing to what was now a remixed version of Chopin's Nocturne that had just started playing. And from what Suri could see, even though Mina's eyes were dead and lifeless, the sheen of sweat across her body said she was working herself to exhaustion. "If she's hurt, I swear to the gods I will-"
De'Jon grinned, baring fangs as he snapped his finger. In an instant Mina collapsed to the floor, breathing heavily and groaning in pain as she laid limp on the ground. Suri crashed to her knees beside her girlfriend and cradled the pinkette into her arms, quietly whispering her worries as Mina's eyes slowly blinked back to life. The dullness in her amber eyes was now back to its full shining brilliance and she now felt life coming back into Mina's entire body.
"W-What? Suri? Where.. are we?"
"Still in Musutafu thankfully. You've been under his spell," Suri answered, looking up at the vampire with anger burning in her eyes,
"I'm sorry… I tried to do what you said," Mina began but Suri held a finger to her lips and the two girls locked eyes. Mina watched as the anger for De'Jon was instantly replaced with regrets and remorse towards her in Suri's eyes.
"No. He got me too," Suri sighed. "I should have told you guys to run as soon as I felt them."
"That would not have changed the need for this meeting, my dearest," De'Jon said, still sitting comfortably in his chair. It struck Suri as odd that, as powerful as she'd felt Akeno was, she had taken a place standing in front of the bench seats and off to the side. Like she was nothing more than just another bodyguard. "There are things that are in need of discussion."
"Yeah. Yeah there are," Suri scoffed as she helped Mina to her feet and then walked her to one of the couches lining the dancefloor. Once she was seated and rested, Suri trained her eyes back on the main vampire and narrowed them. "Ya see, where I come from, our Master of the City doesn't pull shit like this. Hell, I've heard the Master of Denver is a fucking slimeball but even he doesn't stoop this low."
"You silly Americans, thinking you're the most high and mighty-"
"No! This has nothing to do with that," Suri argued, cutting De'Jon off from saying anything more nonsensical. "That's you. You're the one thinking you're high and mighty right now because you don't see anything wrong with what you're doing."
"I am only going about making that which was promised to me mine," De'Jon replied, his emotionless tone filling with a touch of anger and frustration.
"Like I told Akeno, my dance card is full, bro. I've got enough to keep me filled emotionally for a few lifetimes over," Suri snickered humorously and shook her head at the vampire.
"Did you now?" He eyed the lioness for a brief moment before looking back towards Suri and narrowing his eyes at her. "Because as I see it, that's a lie. Several months ago when I began letting you fill my waking thoughts you had no one. Then you had two, then a third. For a while I thought you may have been satisfied and then a month ago, this one," he motioned towards Yumie then. "And now you seek to add these ones," he said, next motioning towards Ryuko, Mai, and Aiko. "See, I think you can make room for one more."
"I… already am," Suri cringed as she corrected the vampire's count of lovers and potential lovers. "My pack's second in command might as well be added to that list."
De'Jon's eyes went wide, filling with enough shock that his mouth opened and left him speechless in that brief moment of realization. Once the shock wore off, his eyes and expression went blank and stoic which made all of the warning signs in Suri's mind begin to go haywire. She'd done pissed him the fuck off.
"Even so," Suri added. "Anyone that I'm dating or sleeping with is the business of myself and those I choose to date or sleep with. And the way I see it, you blew that opportunity."
"Did I now?" De'Jon asked incredulously.
"Yeah," Suri scoffed. "Between your dad getting Lady Oda to bring us here to get mind fucked by him that night and your actions tonight? You know that vampire mind tricks are punishable when you perform them on anyone without consent. What you did was assault and you mind fucking us is basically rape. You know that!"
"And would you have just come along if we hadn't had the need to… persuade you?" he asked in a tone that had a little humor in it before saying the suggestive word in a sing-song voice.
"Persuaded?" Suri sneered, her brows lowering in a deep scowl full of anger and pure rage.
"Why do you need us anyway?" Mina asked as her own anger with the situation poured from her voice and the raging fire in her eyes.
"Technically, I only desire Suri," De'Jon shrugged and moved to stand up and walk around from behind his desk and out onto the dance floor casually approaching Suri. "But my wishes could be entrusted to more maidens such as yourself."
Neither Suri or Mina liked the way he had phrased his words and both of their minds began to race, screaming at them that they needed to leave. If they didn't? They were going to hate whatever he was going to say next.
"Say that. One more time. Slowly," Suri said in a low tone thick with a growl rumbling in the back of her throat.
To that he simply grinned wide, baring fangs in an overconfident, high and mighty sort of way as he all but slowly strutted, making a slow circle around Suri. She could feel him practically eyeing her up, dressing and undressing her before his glances did the same towards Mina. Then came the touch. He nonchalantly dragged his fingertips across her hip, made no effort in being sneaky about feeling over her ass and then took hold of Suri's right wrist. It would have been suave if he hadn't been so jaded and Suri hadn't been so pissed off. It could have made her shiver in delight in the way he brought her hand up and kissed the back of her knuckles while rolling his eyes up to look at her. It could have been so romantic. Except it wasn't. Because, in that moment, all she wanted was for that touch and gesture to come from someone else completely.
"I desire you to be my maiden," De'Jon said in a cool seductive tone. Cool because his icy breath tickled at the warmth of Suri's skin. "I will be your husband, king, and master. You will be my blushing bride and mother to my children."
"Excuse me?" Suri scoffed and tried pulling her hand away from the vampire but he caught her and held her hand in place seemingly effortlessly.
"You and your band of maidens will be mine. Mine alone," he said, making sure she knew what he meant by his alone. "You will be the ones who I shall breed for a worthy generation of strong offspring that will outlive the humans of this world."
"No."
"You know it as well as all of us. Humans are a doomed species, we need to go back to how we were once upon a time. Stronger, better, more resilient to the man-made apocalypse that is coming on the horizon."
"Let. Go."
"You know I'm right, Suri. You can feel it coming too, can't you?"
"De'Jon…"
"Yes! Your voice is so lovely when you say my name. I can't wait to hear it more!"
"If you don't let go in the count of three, I'm taking that damn hand with me," Suri warned in a low purr that was filled with danger.
"Oooo. I do love how fiesty you are~"
"Three."
"Are all of your maidens as wild as you are?"
"Two."
"Oh, I do hope so. How do they feel about biting, my love?"
"How do you feel about acid burns?" Mina warned with her own danger filled purr.
"Hmm?"
A sick sizzling sound began to fill the room followed by the smell of burning flesh. De'Jon was taken aback because he had his sights set on Mina, had felt her come up to him and Suri, and felt her take hold of his wrist. There was a brief feeling that he was about to get lucky, then came the painful realization of what her true intentions had been as he looked down and found his skin melting from where she was touching him. His eyes went wide and he screamed in agony as Suri ripped away from him and took Mina with her as they backed away from the vampire. The souvenir that Suri took with her was her warning fulfilled because he hadn't taken her threat seriously, though she hadn't expected to receive Mina's help.
She'd planned on taking it by force.
De'Jon hissed and growled in pain as he fell to one knee and clutched the stub of his wrist where his left hand had once been, He seethed in a mix of pain and rage to the point he was practically foaming at the mouth as he snapped his head up to glare hatefully at the pair of girls in front of him. The rabid look on his face was enough to make Mina back away a few steps further than Suri who stared down at him with a glare of her own. She wasn't amused like a part of her wanted to be. No. She was ready for a fight.
"You were warned, De'Jon," Suri said in a cold, calm voice.
"You bitch!" he screamed before vanishing from the spot in front of her.
Suri jumped in surprise and then began looking around rapidly, trying to find where the vampire had disappeared to. She turned in time to catch a right fist in her gut, hard enough that she felt her sternum almost crack from the force. It knocked the wind out of her and she doubled over in response to the pain only to be grabbed by the hair as she keeled over. She hissed with the sharp pain of the hair pulling, even more as she felt her weight shift and her feet left the ground. His nails dug into her scalp as he swung her around like a toy doll and tossed her across the room where she hit the floor and began rolling like a discarded ball.
She grunted and hissed as she went tumbling violently across the floor before she was able to correct herself and force herself to get to her knees at the end of the journey. When Suri looked up she caught the sight of Mina trying to dodge the vampire and was only able to keep him at bay by wildly throwing showers of acid around her. He apparently hated the feeling of his skin, no matter how dead it was, melting away and being torn from him as a result of her Quirk. It was as good of an advantage as they could hope for and it bought Suri time to will herself to her feet and dig into her power. Or what she had anyway because she'd just now realized she couldn't feel Atiena's presence inside her mind and body.
"Atiena? Girl, I need you big time right now," Suri muttered under her breath.
No answer.
"Dammit," Suri growled and began running towards the pair, using her natural inhuman speed and strength to get to Mina's side. Was she as fast? No. Did it matter? In the long run, yes it did because when she got to De'Jon she screamed and threw a hard right fist of her own at him only for him to catch her without much effort at all. It begged the next question. "The hell did you do to my beast, you bastard?"
"Ah, Atiena? Your… animal was quite easy to tame," De'Jon chuckled and pushed forward, forcing Suri to walk backwards. "You are so arrogant to think that you are above me. That a mutt like you could compare to a Bloodborne such as I and come out unscathed? Your clans are foolish and have raised you to be foolish. That's why I was going to make you mine, Suri, I can take that wild, raw power you have, that you flaunt so dauntlessly, and refine it into something pure. A pure queen to my king, one that could rule over all vampires and lycanthropes. A power that no one would be able to challenge and would make silly titles like Villains, Reavers, even Heroes a thing of the past."
"You make it sound like you're trying to become a god," Suri hissed back and leapt into the air, bringing her knees to her chest before launching them outward. She planted two hard kicks into the vampire's chest which sent him backwards and out of his grip.
As he was recovering from the hard dropkick, Suri landed and then rose upwards putting her shoulder into his chest to keep up the attack. Pushing him back further she balled her fists and started throwing haymakers at the vampire, striking him across the jaw back and forth several times. Even with how hard she was punching him, which would have dazed or knocked out most opponents, De'Jon grinned. He took the hits with a smile, baring eager fangs as his face was rocked again and again, each blow resulting in a loud meaty smack.
"Come on, darling. I know you can hit harder than that," he snickered, parrying the next couple hard jabs with ease.
Suri growled and kept coming at him, sneering as she threw punch after punch and kick after kick towards him. Her vision jumped to the side of them and found Aiko and Mai, now free of De'Jon's spell, fending off a raging Akeno. Neither of them had any sign of beginning their lycanthropic changes which meant their beasts were still under the vampire's whims somewhere inside their soul just like Atiena was. Still the two of them charged and attacked the lioness with everything they had. Watching them however proved to be a perilous distraction as Suri got caught off guard on her next set of attacks.
Suri's hard right hook was caught without so much as any effort by the vampire who held in place and simply grinned wide. Suri growled and rolled into De'Jon's grip, spinning on her toes to wind up a hard right elbow into the side of his temple. Her elbow connected with a thick smack but instead of him stumbling; he caught her tighter. He locked her into his grip, clamping her neck against his bicep and her back to his chest.
"You're caught up in your own twisted fantasy, De'Jon," Suri said in a choked, pleading tone as she struggled and panicked against the vampire holding her hostage.
Suri heard Mina, Tooru, Ryuko, and Yumei call out to her as they watched her struggle against De'Jon, all of them trying to rush to her aid. She watched as Tooru, Yumie, and Ryuko were intercepted by the horde of lesser vampires that made up De'Jon's entourage. She could hear Mina struggling against another vampire somewhere behind them and heard both Aiko and Mai hitting the floor from one of Akeno's attacks.
"No, this is no fantasy," De'Jon laughed, his sickly sweet voice reverberating against her ear.
Suri heard Mina call for her again, knew she rushed the De'Jon from behind and then watched as she was struck. The vampire smacked the pinkette with the stub of his wrist and gave Suri the view to watch her fall to the ground in a daze. His smooth tone haunted her as she watched Mina struggle to get back up and felt him jerk her head to the side. The next thing she felt was a sharp pain that lasted for a split second and then her vision began to cloud over and darken. Then the last thing she heard was his voice, lulling her to sleep in a twisted comforting tone, whispering in her ear.
"But this is. Sweet dreams, my love."
And with that Suri had nowhere to go but into the darkness that awaited her.
