Chapter 10: As Low as Dishonor (5/5)
Jon Arryn:
"My Lord?"
Jon Arryn was abruptly startled by the calling of one of the Knights of the Vale. "Huh?"
"Forgive me, my Lord." He spoke to the Warden of the East. "You seemed to have fallen asleep."
Sadly, that was indeed the case. "Y-yes, forgive me." He apologized for the inconvenience. "I wasn't able to get enough sleep the previous night. " Or any night since we departed from the Gates of the Moon.
A few days ago, Jon Arryn left the Gates of the Moon accompanied by a few Knights and some of his personal guards in order to make his way to Gulltown to continue his investigation towards the disappearance of the sons of Yohn Royce. But the day before his departure, Jon saw something that terrified him to the point of giving him nightmares. The sight of Raziel viciously killing the son of a shepherd in a forest while he was teaching him Falconry. The Hand of the King has seem a lot of people die during his lifetime, he also saw a lot of murders being committed. But seeing the little boy that he considered his grandson in everything but blood, killing another boy that was not much older than himself was something that Jon was having difficulty to handle. Especially considering Raziel's complete lack of remorse and how naturally he acted about it afterwards.
Raziel did explain to Jon what happened on their way back. That his eagle killed a sheep that belonged to that boy's father and the boy got angry at him. He proceeded to tell him that he tried to apologize to the boy and offer some compensation for the sheep, but the boy wouldn't listen and he started to hit Raziel and pushed his face into the dirt. Jon actually believed his story, and agreed that the boy was out of line and was definitely going to suffer severe punishment for attacking the Crown Prince. But the simple fact that Raziel, a boy that was not even ten yet, killed the boy with no hesitation whatsoever still disturbed him.
Jon has been having difficulty sleeping since then. As the image of Raziel killing that boy keeps appearing in his dreams.
"My Lord, we must make a stop to feed the horses." The Knight told the Hand of the King.
Jon heard the knight loud and clear. Checking the sky, he noticed that it was going to get dark soon. "Let's set up camp, we should arrive at Gulltown before the evening tomorrow."
"Yes, my Lord." The Knight spoke to Jon.
The Knight took care of ordering the other guards to set camp for the upcoming night, while Jon descended from his horse with a bit of difficulty in order to check around the area for a bit. They were at a relatively distance to the Ironoaks Castle, but Jon decided against going there as they would have to distance themselves from the way to Gulltown. So camping there will be preferable, despite the cold winds that were coming from the sea, which wasn't too far away from them. Moving his head back, he sees the guards and the Knights at his service preparing the ground to camp. Thoughts about Raziel kept coming into his mind as he observed them. I feel like I should inform the King and the Queen about this. He thought about it. What for? He immediately decided against it. Robert would have done the same only sooner than Raziel did, he once smashed a man's face in with a chair in a drunken brawl over a wench. Jon remembers the event with deep shame, mostly because Robert was only thirteen at the time. The Queen would actually chastise me for allowing such a thing to happen with Raziel under his watch and probably just be angry that her son dirtied his hands with the blood of a lowborn . The old man thought as he decided to find himself a place to sit,
Finding a place in front of a fireplace that one of the Knight's squires was setting for the night. Jon decided to think about possibilities of what he's going to find in Gulltown. He was worried, and his worries just increased each day. Part of him prayed that they were still alive as he certainly wouldn't want to deliver the news to his good old friend that he was killed. But each day it passed, the possibility was higher, but he still had hope. He made a personal vow that he would get to the bottom of this and if by some tragedy, Yohn's sons are dead, he would grant him justice for their deaths. There's also the fact that Yohn still hasn't found the supposed second entrance and the previous attack. Before his departure, Yohn wrote to him that he found a clue, but it was nothing concrete yet. The letter also rushed Jon to discover what happened with his sons. Which only caused Jon to become even more focused on the task, as Yohn's desperation was probably increasing with each passing day.
As he watches one of the squires finishing the setting of the fireplace, Jon ends up sparing a thought about his great-nephew for a second. Robyn is really mad at Raziel over the business regarding the wrestling match and the valyrian steel dagger. I can't really blame him for that, Raziel did win the match using a dirty tactic, but it wasn't against the rules input on the match. And honestly, only a complete fool would bet such a rare thing on a wrestling match to begin with. Jon was still shocked that his heir could be so foolish. I'm also really disappointed with how he's handling the loss. I understand that no one enjoys being defeated but his constant complaints are a little out of control. Before his departure, Robyn practically spent an hour complaining about how Raziel cheated and trying to convince Lord Arryn to take the dagger back for him. When Jon refused, explaining that despite the dirty tactic, Raziel didn't break any rules so his victory was valid. He also criticized Robyn's decision of betting the valyrian steel dagger and instructed him to be more aware of risks like that in the future. Robyn seemed to have taken his advice, which pleased Jon.
After a few more minutes, the fire was started and Jon decided to get close to it in order to keep himself warm.
Raziel Baratheon:
"This is so good!"
The Crown Prince of Westeros was currently sitting down on a table inside the dining hall of the Gates of the Moon, enjoying a nice plate of roasted Lamb that he was sharing with his friend.
"Enjoy it, that's the last piece of it." Raziel informed her as he drank a cup of watered down wine. "Did you like the mantle?"
For the last few days, he has been slowly eating the pieces of the sheep that Artys killed. Which was delicious, he also took its fur and ordered a mantle to be made from it.
"Yes, thanks once again, it's very warm." Raziel gave the mantle as a gift to Mya Stone, whom he also shared the meat of the sheep with. She was chewing the meat with a lot of satisfaction on her face. He also had the rabbits that he got from the hunt cooked and served to the other servants.
"Did the others enjoy their meals?" He asked before he took a bite.
"Enjoyed? They were actually shocked that you actually shared your hunt with them." She said before she drank a cup of water. I already got a sheep to eat, so there's no harm in sharing the rabbits with the others. "But they were really thankful for the food."
"That's good to hear." He replied with a smile before he took another bite of his meat.
Both of them were sitting down on one of the tables that were meant for the servants, mainly because it was the usual spot where Mya eat, and Raziel didn't want to make her uncomfortable by making her sit on the table meant for the highborns. But honestly, Raziel saw no difference on the tables other than the fact that the one he was sitting on wasn't as clean or polished as the ones meant for highborns, and part of him actually wonders if it's on purpose or something like that. He wouldn't be surprised if it was.
As he appreciates the taste of the delicious lamb. Raziel thought about his conversion with Jon before his departure to Gulltown, where he explained to Jon why he killed that shepherd's son, who's name he later learned to be App, apparently named after an Apple. Jon had one of his guards deliver the boy's corpse alongside some coins back to his father. Who, according to the guard, barely reacted to the boy's death and gladly took the coin. Something that repulsed Jon, and even Raziel a little bit despite him being the one that killed him. Personally, Raziel didn't feel good or bad for killing that boy, mostly because he would have died anyway. Robyn was still avoiding him, not that Raziel cared as his constant whining and complaining would just annoy him anyway. After swallowing the meat, he decided to ask Mya a question.
"I'm curious..." Raziel called her attention and she moved her familiar blue eyes up to look at him. "How did you end up as a servant here?"
Mya finished chewing his meat before she swallowed. "A Knight came into my old home after my mother died and told me to follow him, I was reluctant at first but I didn't have anywhere else to go so I just went with him." She explained before she took a sip of her water. "He brought me to the castle and they gave me food, clothes and told me that I could live here." The black haired girl signaled him to get closer, which he complied. "I think it was my father's doing." She whispered to him.
Raziel suspects the same. "Have you ever tried to figure out who he is or was?" He asked, basically wondering if he was still alive or if he was dead.
"I did, but..." Mya looked away a little sad.
Raziel just sat there waiting for a response, until he actually understood. "He probably wants to keep your existence a secret."
Mya nodded. "Probably..." She sounded a little upset about that.
There is a certain stigma that comes from being born as a bastard. Raziel thought as he watched Mya's sad face. They are said to be born from lust, lies, and weakness, and as such, they are said to be wanton and treacherous by nature. The Prince genuinely believed that to be nothing more than a load of nonsense, but there are people that actually believe that and there is no changing their minds. But Raziel certainly wouldn't consider Mya Stone, much less his cousin, Joy Hill, as wanton or treacherous. Taking a deep breath, Raziel made a decision. "Mya, I'm going to find out who your father is or was, you have my word."
"Huh?"That surprised the girl, since she widened her eyes in response. "You don't have to do that, I don't want to cause him any trouble."
"Then don't cause him any trouble, but you deserve to know who your father is." Raziel told her in response and it was true, everyone should know who their father is, independent if they are good or bad. "Besides, there's no harm in knowing."
She seemed a bit reluctant, but in the end. "I guess you're right..." The Prince could tell that she wanted to know, which made him more determined. But then she looked at him with a serious face. "Don't take this the wrong way but..." She seemed a little reluctant to say it. "Why are you being so nice to me?"
Raziel barely reacted to that question. "It's a little difficult to explain." It really was.
"Try, I wanna know." Mya insisted.
"Well..." How do I put it? "I... I feel like I know you." What am I saying? Of course I know her, we literally met not long ago. "What I mean is... It feels like... I already know you, I don't know how to put it." The Prince was trying his best to find the right words. "There's something... Really familiar about you, like I've always known you even before we actually met." That was the best way that he managed to find to explain it.
"I know what you mean." Mya responded to him.
"You do?" He asked in confusion.
"When I saw you for the first time, I could swear that I saw you before but I know that I didn't." She explained to him.
"Exactly," It was the same thing for Raziel. "I don't know why I feel like this, but I really feel close to you because of it." The black haired boy revealed it to her. "Which really makes me wanna help you even more."
Mya gave that familiar smile of hers. "I really appreciate it."
Raziel smiled as well, before he took the final bite of his meal.
Mya did the same and once she was done, she stood up from her seat.
After enjoying the last piece of the sheep that his Eagle killed, Raziel and Mya went their separate ways. Mya went to tend to the mules while Raziel went to the room where he was staying on the Gates of the Moon, where he sat down on a small wooden table in order to read a little. The book was one of the many copies of Inventories, the book written by Archmaester Thurgood which stated the existence of two hundred twenty-seven Valyrian steel blades in all of Westeros, although some have since disappeared. The book has a very detailed description and drawings of each blade alongside the details of the current state of them. Though some information should be rewritten as Red Rain is stated to be a Valyrian steel sword belonging to House Drumm, which isn't really true anymore and the drawing in the book doesn't really look like it anymore either. I personally prefer the changes that my grandfather made to the blade. Raziel, thought of as Red Rain now belongs to House Lannister and it's now decorated with gold and rubies that suit his mother's house perfectly.
The reason why Raziel decided to read that book specifically, was because of his Valyrian steel dagger. He wanted to see if there's any record of it in the book. There was no actual purpose for it, but Raziel really wanted to know if there was any particular story behind it. It wouldn't be far-fetched since Valyrian steel was rare and any material made of it is bound to either be ancient or particularly old. The Prince couldn't help but read about everything on the pages just out of curiosity. What interested him the most was the Valyrian steel blades with unknown fates.
Blackfyre, the sword of Aegon I Targaryen. Carried by all Targaryen kings until Aegon IV, who gave it to his bastard Daemon, who rose in rebellion against the Targaryens, taking the sword's name for his house. Its whereabouts are currently unknown. Shame, I would have it reforged and renamed as the Stormbringer, making it the Valyrian steel sword of House Baratheon.
Brightroar, the ancestral sword of House Lannister, lost when Tommen II Lannister, King of the Rock, sailed to Valyria and never returned. Joy's father is still missing, just because he went in search of it. Made it worse since House Lannister has a new Valyrian steel blade now.
Dark Sister, the sword wielded by Visenya Targaryen. Its last known owner was Brynden Rivers. I would probably either reforge and call it Dark Fury or give it to Dany as a gift.
Lamentation, the ancestral sword of House Royce, lost in the Storming of the Dragonpit. Wow, the blade is identical to Bronze Yohn's armor.
Orphan-Maker, the ancestral sword of House Roxton. Its last known owner was Lord Unwin Peake. Some rumors imply that the sword was accidentally dropped into the sea by Unwin Peake's youngest son while he was playing with it. The rumor has some logic to it, since the sword went missing sometime before the youngest son in question was beaten near to death by his father and brother for unknown reasons.
Truth, a Valyrian steel sword last carried by Moredo Rogare of Lys. The sword is probably in possession of the Iron Bank of Braavos, since House Rogare fell after collecting an absurd number of debts due to poor management of their treasury.
Vigilance, the ancestral sword of House Hightower. Its last known owner was Lord Ormund Hightower. The sword was most likely destroyed in the First Battle of Tumbleton during the Dance of the Dragons.
A great curved Valyrian steel blade with a dragonbone hilt, wielded by Sandoq the Shadow during the reign of King Aegon III Targaryen. Actually, in a scroll that I found in the room where I also found my harp, it was written that it was buried alongside Sandog as his last wish.
After reading about all of the main swords with unknown fates, Raziel decided to continue his search. After a few more pages, he managed to find it. Found it! He thought as he saw the near identical drawing of a dagger. I was half-expecting to not find anything about it. It was a long shot, but since he did. Okay... According to the book, the dagger was nameless and it was forged around the time that Thurgood was an archmaester of the Citadel, but it had quite the interesting origin. Apparently, the blade was forged by a maester of the Citadel; he was remarkable because his maester's chain only possessed Valyrian steel links in the collar. Valyrian steel links represent the study of magic and occultism, if I'm not mistaken. Once the maester achieved enough links however, he used them to forge the dagger. Only to later sell it for an unknown amount of golden coins to a merchant, in order to fund his journey to further his knowledge of magic. He left the order and went on a solo expedition to Asshai.
Huh, interesting. Raziel thought after he finished reading that. So this was simply the result of a need for gold, can't say that it wasn't smart though. He thought as he reached for the dagger that was on top of the table. A dagger forged from the links of a maester's chain, this is definitely a one of a kind object. The Prince couldn't help but think that. I'm still gonna make a few alterations to it once I return to King's Landing, there's a blacksmith called Tobho Mott that happens to be one of the few armorers who can work Valyrian steel. Raziel overheard Ser Meryn Trant saying that once. But, you can't stay nameless, so what should I call you?
...
...
...
"Oh I know!"
Jon Arryn:
Finally, we have arrived.
After another unpleasant night, plagued by a lack of sleep and very cold winds. The Hand of the King, his personal guards and the Knights of House Arryn, arrived at Gulltown, the major port city of the Vale of Arryn. The day was bright and the weather was pleasant enough, despite the cold wind that was coming from the sea. Gulltown was quiet and some of its habitants seemed awfully busy with something. But that didn't really bother Jon as peace and quiet is always something that he welcomes with open arms.
He wasted no time in moving towards the home of House Arryn of Gulltown, the small cadet branch of House Arryn located in the city of Gulltown. They chose to marry merchants in Gulltown, making them richer than most of their cousins. However they are considered uncouth, so they are not discussed by the rest of the family. Jon himself never really understood the reason behind it, especially since House Arryn needed all of the numbers that they could get. Especially since Jon and Robyn are the last members.
They reside in a nice looking mansion located east of Gulltown. It would only take a small walk to get there, passing through some merchants and the habitants of the place. The old man did his best to not attract any attention, which was working lovingly so far. Mostly because of how quiet the city was, which was a little strange in Jon's opinion. But he ultimately chose to ignore it as he was focused on his task at hand.
Eventually, the Hand of the King arrived at the mansion that belongs to House Arryn of Gulltown. The manor wasn't exactly impressive, it was a very well kept three floor building, painted in the color sky blue, but that's where it ended in terms of decorations for the outside. The last time I was here was four decades ago. Jon thought as he approached the building.
One of his guards was kind enough to knock on the main door for him. After five or six knocks, the door was opened by a middle-aged woman with brown hair dressed in a simple gray dress, she was obviously a servant. "Lord Arryn," She bowed respectfully. "Lord Arryn is expecting you." Comically enough, the Lord that she serves is also a Lord Arryn, which made it a little confusing.
The woman welcomed them inside, with Jon being the first to enter and everyone followed him through the door frame. "If it isn't too much to ask, would you kindly serve a drink to my guards and the kind Knights that served as my escort?" Jon requested the servant as it has been a long trip.
"As you wish, M'lord." The servant immediately complied.
The inside of the manor, as opposed to the outside, was very decorated. The entire decorations seemed to be entirely based on Myrish culture. Jon himself wasn't familiar with it, but he could tell that the tapestry was Myrish, there were also several Myrish paintings and miniatures. The Hand of the King followed the woman, who led them into a door with the symbol of House Arryn painted on it. The woman unceremoniously opened the door, which revealed some type of meeting room. The room was relatively dark, the walls had a dark blue color and there were several comfortable looking chairs surrounding a circle shaped wooden table. On the inside, there was a man and a woman sitting on the inside.
"M'Lord and M'Lady, I present the Hand of the Hand." The woman announced his presence to them.
Both the man and the woman stood up and Jon took a good look at them.
The man was middle-aged, relatively overweight and half of his hair was gone. He had sky blue eyes, a perfectly trimmed beard and a large nose. His name was Lyro, and he was Jon's very distant cousin. He was wearing a similar outfit to Jon, though he seemed to be made of a different material and the color was brighter.
The woman with him was apparently his wife. She was a very attractive young woman with olive skin, dark curls, lovely green eyes and a curvy figure that were only highlighted by her relatively revealing green outfit that only highlighted her eyes.
"It's an honor to receive you at our residence, Lord Hand." Lyro Arryn greeted Jon Arryn with a bow.
"The honor is mine and thank you for receiving me." Jon immediately returned the gesture.
"Allow me to introduce you to my wife and Lady." Lyro spoke politely.
The beautiful woman bowed to Jon respectfully. "I am Bau Arryn, it's an honor to meet another member of House Arryn." She had a strange but charming accent.
"Once again, the honor is all mine." Jon respectfully bowed to his cousin's wife in return. For what I heard, Lyro was originally married to a woman from House Lipps, but Lyro had the marriage annulled after the rebellion. Jon thought as he met Lyro's second wife. "Forgive me, if I may sound rude but I have something important to discuss with my cousin."
"Not rude at all, dear, would kindly make sure that his guards are shown proper hospitality?" Lyro told his wife.
She nodded before she moved pass Jon.
"All of you can rest now, but please don't take advantage of my cousin's hospitality." Jon informed his guards and the Knights.
None of them said a word, but they bowed to him before they accompanied Bau, probably to be taken to a place where they could all rest and be served. Lyro himself welcomed Jon inside the meeting room before he closed the door behind him, signalling Jon to sit down in one of the chairs. Which he gladly did, and the chairs were unbelievably comfortable.
"Would you like something to drink?" Lyro asked as picked up a jug and filled a cup with a strange pale green liquid.
In his curiosity, Jon ended up accepting it. "Yes, please." He filled a cup for Jon and handed it to him, and Jon was surprised by the taste of it, it was a very peculiar but strangely pleasant taste.
"It's Myrish Wine, many of the cities found across the narrow sea produce their own brands of wine." Lyro informed Jon, that information is well known but a lot of people never really try the kind of wines found in Essos.
"You seem to have love for Myr." Jon spoke as he appreciated the taste of the Myrish Wine.
Lyro smiled at him before responding. "I worship everything about Myr." He announced proudly. "After annulling my first marriage, I decided to visit it and simply fell in love with everything about that place, including my beloved Bau."
As Jon finished his cup, he decided to ask him something. "Forgive me if this is an undesirable question but..." He was simply curious. "Was there a particular reason for the annulment of your first marriage."
"Not at all, I understand how annulments are viewed." Lyro sat down on one of the chairs before he spoke. "The truth is, it was a loveless and childless marriage that was arranged by my father when I was still a young man. We never really got along with one another despite being married for twenty years, so we both decided to finally put an end to it." His cousin explained to him without showing any resentment. "Last I heard of her, she has joined the Silent Sisters.
"I see." Jon couldn't really judge, he was married twice and deeply loved both of his wives. So he can't really judge someone for wanting to rid themselves of an unhappy marriage, especially if both of them agreed that it was for the best. But now it was time to get serious. "Now, I really need to know what you discovered about the disappearance of Robar and Waymar Royce."
Lyro's smile disappeared from his face and a serious expression appeared in its place. "I'm afraid I have bad news."
Jon sighed, already preparing himself to hear it. "Any news is better than none." The old man commented in response.
"After I received your letter, I conducted a small search for the sons of Bronze Yohn. I asked my sworn shield to secretly conduct a search around Gulltown for either their location or the possible cause of their disappearance." Lyro explained before he leaned back on his seat. "After asking around, he came upon a merchant that saw Waymar Royce buying something from a mysterious merchant."
"What exactly did he bring?" Jon asked in curiosity.
"Apparently, it was an armor of unknown origin but that's not really the problem.." Lyro answered his question. "The problem is that the merchant that my sworn shield spoke with mentioned that he never really saw that merchant before and he knows every single merchant in the city, and he also claimed that a strange number of ships carrying a considerable amount of goods has been coming in and out of Gulltown in a strange speed."
Jon was very confused after hearing that. Every single ship that comes in and out of Gulltown needs to pay a fee, especially if it's a merchant looking to trade. Even so, the ship usually remains for at least a day or two and I wonder what he means by great speed. Unless... Jon just came up with a terrible idea of what exactly could this be about and he didn't like it a single bit. I need to make sure... He immediately set himself an objective. The Hand of the King then stood up from his seat and spoke. "I am exceptionally grateful for your support and what you just told me was very useful." His cousin also stood up from his seat. "I must check the clue that you just delivered to me right away."
"I'm glad that I could be of help to you, and if the necessity arises, you can use my home as a temporary residence for your stay in Gulltown." Lyro politely offered his cousin.
"Once again, I'm grateful and accept your offer, I shall stay here for the time being until I uncover the nature of the information that you just gave me." Jon decided to accept his cousin's request and also asked him a favor. "But I must request, my presence here cannot be discovered by Lord Grafton." He will find out eventually but the longer it takes, the better.
"As you wish." Lyro accepted his request. "Also, I almost forgot." He seemed to have remembered something. "The Lord and head of House Baelish of the Fingers was here before your arrival and requested me to deliver you a message."
Jon sighed, as he momentarily forgot about Lord Baelish's requested audience. "What is the message?" He asked in order to get that business over with in order to continue his investigation.
"To meet with him on the spot next to the Gulltower, because he has information regarding something shady that is happening inside Gulltown." Lory explained to Jon.
"Huh?"
After his cousin informed him of the message that Lord Baelish had delivered for him. Jon immediately took two of his guards in order to make his way towards the Gull tower in order to check what was that about. Passing through the Walled City without attracting attention was easy, as most of its inhabitants didn't knew who he was, but he was careful enough to hide his presence by not wearing anything with the Arryn sigil or the Hand of the King badge, and he was also wearing a cloak that his cousin was nice enough to give it to him.
Passing through the streets, Jon noticed a great number of children playing around. Which sadly brought back the memory of Raziel killing that Shepherd's son once again. The Hand of the King just shakes that awful memory off for the time being in order to focus on the task. Walking past a humid and relatively dirty ground, Jon and his guards passed through an alleyway where a very young girl dressed in revealing clothes stared at them, with one of his guards sparing a look of lust at the girl. It disgusted Jon as the girl seemed to be a year or two older than Robyn at most and he would have reprimanded his guard if he kept staring at her. Luckily for him, this unpleasant trip came to end as the end of the alley revealed the Gull Tower. But Jon had to go to a specific place to meet with Lord Baelish. The place where they were supposed to meet was an abandoned building that apparently belonged to him. It was located west of the Gull Tower, which was where Jon and his guards were currently at. But Jon had no idea which building it was, as all of them seemed abandoned to him.
Standing in the middle of an empty street with his guards, Jon was having an immense difficulty to discover which of the abandoned buildings around him he was supposed to enter.
Until.
"Lord of the Vale." Suddenly, Jon heard someone calling him from a window of the third building on the left.
"Lord Baelish?" Jon asked as he approached the building in order to take a good look at the man. He was a fairly young man with sharp features, a small pointed beard on his chin and dark hair.
"Since my father died, I'm afraid." He joked, not a particularly funny one. "Come on in please."
Jon nodded, before entering the building alongside his guards. Despite being abandoned, it looked relatively well kept on the inside, despite having no decorations or even furniture. It seems like it's ready to be used. The Head of the King thought as he observed his surroundings. After a second or two, that man that he came searching for appeared descending a staircase that led to the second floor. Once he was on the same floor as them, Jon noticed that he was a short man of slender build.
"My Lord, Ser, Ser." He bowed to Jon and his two guards respectfully. "I would offer you a seat, but the recent restorations didn't allow me to get any seats yet."
"It's no problem, and if these restorations are your doing, I must praise your work." Jon spoke as part of him was a little impressed.
"This is all simply an investment, a friend of mine plans on opening a tailor shop and I decided to help him get started." The man with laughing gray-green eyes informed the Hand of the King.
"That's awfully nice of you." Jon was surprised.
"I will be much nicer if I receive a good return from this investment." Lord Baelish spoke with a small laughter but Jon couldn't help but notice that his eyes were not accompanying his laughter.
Jon was tired, and he would really like to lay down. So he decided to get to the point already. "Lord Baelish, you left a message to me regarding something shady that is happening inside Gulltown." The Hand of the King decided to speak. "I would be very grateful if you go straight to the point in regards to that."
Petyr Baelish barely reacted to what Lord Arryn said, he simply took a deep breath before he answered the question. "What if I told you that Lord Grafton embezzled the funds of the trade in Gulltown."
Jon had no reaction whatsoever to what he said, because that was already his suspicion. "How do you know that?" That was the question that he wanted to know.
"Let's just say that... One of my investments ended up suffering as a result of this and I would like this to be resolved so the legitimate businesses don't suffer as a result of that." Baelish revealed it to Jon.
With a deep breath, Jon asked. "Tell me everything you know."
Raziel Baratheon:
Dear Mother,
My days in the Vale have been really pleasant. Despite finding Robyn Arryn to be particularly annoying, he is ignoring me because I beat him in a Wrestling match and won a Valyrian steel dagger from him.
Jon also taught me Falconry, which was fun except for a single detail. Which was a Shepherd's son that attacked me because my Eagle killed his sheep. He punched me, pushed me into the dirt and called me Little Shit. I got so mad that I actually killed him by slicing his throat with the Valyrian steel dagger.
I know, I know, I shouldn't have dirty my hands with something like that, but I was so angry that I wanted to be the one to do it.
Please don't be mad.
I miss you and I can't wait to see you again.
With Love, Your son.
Raziel Baratheon.
Raziel finished writing a letter to his mother, he sealed it right away. Before he picked another piece of paper to write another one.
Dear Myrcella and Joy,
I know you girls asked me to write separate letters to each of you, but I think it's a waste of time because the letters would literally say the exact same thing.
Which is, I miss the two of you everyday and I really wish I could be on the receiving end of your hugs and kisses once again. Especially with the cold winds of the Vale.
Also, I made another friend, her name is Mya Stone. Yes, she's a natural daughter like Joy. And no, we don't kiss like Joy and I do.
She doesn't know who her father is, and I promised to help her find out who he is.
I think she deserves to know.
You girls think I'm doing something wrong? Because she's afraid that she's going to cause trouble for him as a result.
Anyway, you two forgot to tell me how Tommen is doing in your last letter.
Also, what happened to Uncle Tyrion's marriage? I haven't heard anything about that in a while.
With Love, your dear cousin.
Raziel Baratheon.
The Prince finished writing a letter to his cousins. Once again, he sealed right away in order to write one last letter.
Dear Dany,
I hope you liked the gift that I sent you. It was from an animal that I hunted with my new pet.
I can't wait to introduce you to Artys. I'm already certain that you'll adore him just as you did Symeon.
As for the question you asked me last time, the answer is yes.
I know this is a short letter, but not much has happened these last few days.
Unless you want to hear about what I did with the Shepherd's son , but I don't think you will.
There was also a Wrestling match, but I'm pretty sure that you don't even know what wrestling is.
So, here's a small explanation.
Wrestling is a sport or activity of grappling with an opponent and trying to throw or hold them down on the ground, typically according to a code of rules.
I had an small competition with some Squires and managed to win three matches but also lost four of them. But I'm not mad, I actually learn a lot from the lost and I'm going to be prepared for the next one.
I miss you, my Dragon Princess.
With love
Your Stag Prince.
Raziel sealed the final letter and stood up from his table in order to send them to his loved ones. Passing through the door frame, Sandor Clegane quietly started to follow him through the corridors as always. The Prince has gotten used to the Hound's presence, his heavy steps that always follows behind him are strangely menacing, which he likes it.
As he walked Raziel noticed Robyn looking through an open window that showed a sight of the horizon. I should try to mend my relationship with Robyn, despite my annoyance towards him. He thought as he took a deep breath and approached the Heir of the Vale.
"Hi." Robyn greeted him as he moved his head to stare at him with his sky blue eyes.
Taking another deep breath, Raziel decided to speak. "I'm sorry for using a dirty trick in the wrestling match, but the truth is, I really wanted the Valyrian steel dagger." The Heir of the Vale was taken by surprise by the Crown Prince's confession. "I ask you for forgiveness and if you want the dagger back, you can have it." He offered. Come on... Take the bait...
Robyn was taken aback by Raziel's offer and his apology, and seemed to be really considering what he offered. But. "N-no, you won the dagger despite the dirty trick." The older boy clarified. "But I accept your apology and apologize for acting like a sore loser."
"I accept your apology as well." Raziel spoke, trying to control himself to not laugh. He actually believed that I was going to give it back to him?! HAHAHAHAHA! Luckily, I knew he would do the honorable thing. "Can we... be friends again?"
Robyn chuckled with the question. "We never stopped being friends, we merely had a quarrel."
Raziel gave a smile. "Can we train together?" He asked as he displayed the letters. "After I sent these letters to my mother and cousins, of course."
Robyn smiled. "Sure, let me accompany you."
With that, the two of them started to move towards the area where the raven's are kept. It's for the best, despite having a somewhat negative opinion about Robyn, we are better off as friends than enemies. Besides, it would be nice to get on his good side again since Jon has been acting weird around him since the whole thing with the Shepherd's son and maybe this will get him off my back. "Did you knew that the dagger was forged from an Maester's link?"
Robyn seemed surprised by the revelation. "Really?"
"Yes, apparently he only made the dagger to sell it in order to fund a expedition to Asshai." Raziel revealed to him. "How it end up with that merchant that you brought it from, is a different question."
"My uncle Waymar was the one that brought it for me, he always brings the most interesting things from Gulltown." Robyn informed him.
Ummm... For some reason, Raziel felt a little strange after hearing that.
Thanks for reading this chapter, I appreciate all of your support.
I received a lot of criticism over the length of the A/N and I will only answer by saying. I literally write them as soon as I receive them and leave it written down before I copy and pasted once the chapter is finished. I never really paid attention to the length and for that, I deeply apologize. I simply like to respond to all of the questions I receive, since a lot of authors don't even bother to do that.
I promise that this will not be problem in future chapters.
As always Questions and Answers:
Since I had fun having a crack at guessing who Raziel's kingsguard could be made up from figure if have some fun guessing his small council to
Hand of the King -
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard - Jon Snow
Mistress of Whispers - Alayne Stone
Master of Law - Tommen Lannister
Mistress of Ships - Asha Greyjoy
Master of Coin - Willas Tyrell
Grand Maester - Sam Tarly or Marwyn
Got a little stumped for the Hand of the King
With Tommen by the way I can see him growing up to be more akin to his great uncle Kevan and he just obeys what Raziel and Myrcella tell him without question
I also see it being said that Raziel's Queens can also freely attend all small council meetings and help govern
Can I also assume something about Raziel's rule aside from ensuring he rules with absolute power and more authority than any previous king can I assume one of the ways he'll reform the realm is enact more Dornish laws across all the kingdoms
So while religion might be the thing Raziel cares the least for do hope Melisandre gets permission to construct a grand red temple in Kingslanding I also hope she's not the only red priest we see declare Raziel Azor Ahai but it's quite clear that Melisandre leads the red gods followers in Westros
In regards to Raziel's title if I remember right from the nights watch preview he has Giantslayer as one so thought I'd have a crack at guessing how he gets that title and I think he'll get it when he first meets Mance and the Wildings a chuffed with themselves that the Prince of the kneelers has walked into their camp and one way or another a fight is set up between Raziel and a warrior Giant
Raziel then shocks and horrifys the onlookers by easily killing the giant say he dodges a attack and clampers up the giant and just stabs into its brain he then stands atop its corpse daring anyone else to fight him
Since previews are always good
Working through the Martells why not one with Oberyn and Ellaria or to round out the older half of the sand snakes Obara and Nymeria oh random thing with Obara if she doesn't swear her spear directly to Raziel himself could she be Arianne's sworn sword
For a non Martell related one hm perhaps Melisandre or Myrcella, Joy and Jeyne and which ever one you don't go for definitely the preview request for the chapter after the next one haha
I imagine Raziel will actually also make Kingslanding into a grand city but will he also improve and expand on the Red Keep to make it again both grander and more formidable
Another happy side effect of Petyr not rising to the highs that he did in canon is while Robert might still like spending a lot with no Littlefinger around to steal, pilfer and hide away most of the crown finances when Raziel inherits the crown instead of inheriting vast debts Raziel should inherit a royal treasury that could still be called healthy
Ps hope Melisandre doesn't need a glamour to look as good as she does haha
Personally:
Hand of the King - Probably his uncle Tyrion or Tywin. (Though, he would only consider the latter if he is desperate.)
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard - He would probably put Brienne on it just to piss people off.
Mistress of Whispers - Not officially, but... (He would prefer that people don't know what she's capable of.)
Master of Law - Yes, he would put Willas on it. But he would also consider Stannis.
Mistress of Ships - Either Davos or Asha.
Master of Coin - He would actually put Tommen on it. (Under Tywin's tutelage, he develops the same talent for raising of funds.)
Grand Maester - He would only trust Sam to that job despite becoming good friends with Marwyn.
You got that right, a Tommen mostly raised by Tywin will mostly turn into his uncle Kevan.
Don't know if she would be interested in that.
He would try, if he would succeed or not, it's a different story.
He will allow her to spread her religion, but he won't allow her to force it into people.
No commentaries on that one.
There was literally nothing even remotely easy about how he did and that's all that I'm going to say.
I'm gonna cut down on the previews on the story due to the amount of criticism that I received from readers over it, so sorry.
That would definitely be the case since Raziel really respects Obara.
If he has the funds to spare.
I have to say, I fvcking love this! the only bad thing is that there aren't a lot of chapter and I don't wanna keep reading because I don't want this to end. I enjoy this, this is well thought out. and I am enjoying the pace of the story as well but as I said, I don't want this to end. lol. Good job author, Keep up the good work!
I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope you stick around to read the future chapters.
I'm disappointed both that it took me so long to read this great story and that there are only 22 chs
it seems like you respond to every comment (which is great) but the comment section was longer than the actual story. they should at least be 50-50, right? or better
so will any kids be popping up? the high born would have moon tea at the ready, but the lowborns? and lets not pretend the C would let anything from R go to waste lol, id think that once she knew she was expecting (cause you know shed be inspecting herself for signs after their first time and every time after) I think that's when she either kills robert or makes him think they slept together (probably involving lots of alcohol)
if that is in the cards for C (or if you think one would be interesting to write) think we could get a snippet of: CR in action, C finding out shes expecting, C contemplating her plan, and C telling R shes expecting?
Sorry about that, I have very limited time to write so...
As I explained above, I write the answers to the reviews before the story itself and copy and past them once the chapter is done, and I have pretty annoying habit of not paying attention to the length . So I deeply apologize over that.
Raziel is exceptionally careful with that, but his mother would certainly do something like that. (The vast majority of the readers actually want her to get pregnant.)
Why is the authors note longer then the actual story
Because I get a lot of questions and this is the only way to actually answer them.
That whole situation with she shepherds son was ridiculous. The kid would have never done something like that if he saw what he was wearing.
Smallfolk aren't exactly known for being smart. He was blinded by his rage and Raziel's clothes didn't look so good after he was pushed into the dirt.
It's actually getting to be pretty annoying that about half of each chapters length is really just authors notes
I already apologized for that and explained why and promised that this will not be a problem in the future.
I'm going to be honest here, I'm fairly confident that dragon dreams is just another name for possessing green sight. Also such dreams and visions were never described in the way the fandom seems to present them. They literally see the future there is no point of interpretation because it's literally the future.
A lot of things in the series are never explained and I highly doubt that GRRM will ever explain it (Or will ever finish the fucking series.), so the fandom has to come up with their own explanations to fill up the gaps. I personally would love a detailed explanation of how magic really works in Westeros.
This doesn't really matter but I'm surprised Cersei isn't having him fuck her by now, you can get an erection by about 7 but you'd be firing blanks instead of sperm. Also I fail to see why he would be afraid of pleasuring her, when you grow up doing something it becomes normalized.
Part of him is still afraid because of how forceful she is at times, but he is used to it.
This is actually one of the most related Jorahs I've ever seen
What?
I honestly don't think Jorah is the kind of person to pursue a married women. It also doesn't really make any sense for him to be there seeing how he's the lord of bear island, he has duties and responsibilities that would keep him from such a journey.
My friend... He literally bankrupt himself for this woman, was willing to commit serious crimes like selling people into slavery and he still moping about her even after she dumped him to become a concubine. His attraction towards Dany is severely implied that it was because she reminded him of his wife and Jorah did prove to be quite prone to obsessive behavior. So it isn't too hard to believe that he would do this type of thing. (His duties and responsibilities could be done by anyone, it's not like Bear Island has a lot going for it in the first place.)
Will raziel impregnate mya
She would kill him if he did. (Not literally of course.)
enjoying the story. I hope he grabs his half sisters for some fun times.
Well...
I'm sure he will fuck his mom, might as well throw the older sister in there too.
haha...
I have to say, the story is very interesting but I came here for the story. Not the long replies to reviews. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating. I've been following this story since its early start (somewhere around around that) but I can't fathom that this has more of authors note than the actual story itself.
I am not going to explain it again, read what I wrote above for an explanation.
really liked him admiting to missing kissing and him killig someone for the first time
Can we have a preview of his and cerseis first time having sex
That's Raziel to you.
Nope, sorry, I'm gonna cut down on the previews due to the criticisms I receive over the leghnt of the A/N
Another great chapter, I liked how in this chapter we got to see a more arrogant and dark side of Razeil. From his dealings with Robyn to him killing that shepherd's son. And I know you are getting a lot of criticism about your previews, but please don't worry about them, it's just the normal people who like spoilers against people who don't like them. If people don't like previews they know when to stop reading. Keep writing your story the way you want. As always can't wait for the next chapter.
Thanks, I deeply appreciate your words.
I hope cerci dies.
MMMMMMMMM...
Jesus Cersei is very disturbing.
Good, because that's point.
You know I had fun picturing Raziel just looking at Robyn clearly indicating for him to shut the hell up and of course Robyn not getting the message still at least his mood improved when he saw Mya again
Eh not to sure how much wrestling is a official thing taught as part of a marital education as the marital education and fighting seems entirely focused on teaching how to fight with various weapons unharmed combat again not so much
Still at least the wrestling event gave Raziel a chance to vent some of his building annoyance with Robyn and also let him get his hands on the Valyrian steel dagger he had and boy did losing that match being out the whiny side of Robyn definitely saw the echo of his canon self and good that Raziel got to spend time beating the shit out of all the other squires haha
Mya giving Raziel a tour was nice to but when he started learning about how she is a Bastard got me thinking when is he going to realise she is his sister haha also yes Mya sucking on Raziel's finger got me thinking skip forward a few years and Mya is sucking on another part of Raziel haha anyway nice scene and liked Raziel firmly establishing the fact he decides who can call him by name
With Jon and Raz talking about how Bear Island was won yeah I think it really was won by the Starks in a wrestling match considering it was a contest with the Iron Born
Now with that dumbass shepherds son got to admire Raziel's patience it went as far as could be expected he gave the idiot a chance but nope he was to stupid to take it so I liked it when Raziel essentially just said okay fuck this I'm killing him and with how he killed him yeah to be frank Raziel sparred the boy a likely more painful end the moment that idiot laid a hand on Raziel he was a dead man so either he was going to die at Raziel's hand or he was going to get chucked out the moon door oh or Sandor would have killed the boy
Loved the touch at the end with Raziel saying he's now going to eat that sheep this was all over
I also see Raziel being able to perfectly explain his actions to after all he can say that the boy did in fact attack him and that he tried to reason with him and that the boy was going to die anyway I can see Jon understanding all this and agreeing that the boy was doomed anyway
Happy to help with the eagle haha
With Cersei and the younger Queens then without the prophecy over her head it'll be interesting to see how Cersei is with some of the girls maybe even actually liking some of them haha
Funny enough I've been meaning to bring up Brienne good to know he'll be meeting her in the Stormlands I assume and that she'll be joining his guard I also think it be nice if Brienne is aware Raziel is far from being truly honourable but she appreciates the fact he would never asks her to do something that would be against her own honour plus Raziel not mocking her for being a female fighter and accepting her which is something Brienne really wants at the end of the day
I can also imagine just how happy she'd be the day he knights her as the first female knight and also when he names her to his Kingsguard
Haha fair enough on the snake being Tyene's and if the Direwolf Nymeria is more obedient to Raziel I imagine Lady would heed his commands to
Alayne having a Shadowcat would be great I think one because I see her being like her mistress in that she'd heed every command of Raziel anyway and Alayne could the Shadowcat as her personal sigil so you could have the Shadowcat on either a field of light green or blue and Alayne herself would also likely end up being called Lady Alayne the Shadowcat or Lady Shadow but yeah the Shadowcat could be the sigil her and Raziel's line carries on
Just so so you know to I can't help but see the child of Raziel and Alayne being a daughter that loves and is as obsessed with Raziel as much as Alayne is and yes when I say love I do really mean she loves him not only as a father haha in other words she'd truly be Alayne's heir haha
Okay after that battle while the Kraken sinks the ship the surviving Ironborn better be going around calling Raziel the son of the Storm and Drowned God for the lighting and the Kraken to which again I hope when he sees the Kraken Raziel reacts with excitement at the sight
With Gendry as a fighter could Raziel alternatively state "good with the hammer but not quite as big or as strong as father was" and like you said lacking the enthusiasm for fighting that Robert had and yeah glad Raziel's younger brothers will be worshiping the ground he walks on and I imagine that statement would apply to his friends like Sam to
Good to know Jeyne Westerling will be with Myrcella as a lady in waiting
As ever love the previews we get of the future
The first one with Margaery I loved seeing Raz and Margeary interact in regards to Sansa I think she might surprise Raziel by being fine with who he is you said after all Raziel isn't ever going to be knocked off the pedestal Sansa puts him on and I can see Sansa saying something akin to would you still love me and Raziel of course saying yes plus I imagine Raz will have fun bringing Sansa into his and his other lovers debauchery haha
Which speaking of love learning that when Raziel fucks Myrcella and Joy they are going to have a audience of ladies haha and of course it's lovely learning that Raziel will get Joy legitimised
The one with them all in Pentos was also good little concerning about how Dany still gets called Khaleesi and the fact Visery is still about but all good really also liked the implication that Mya might also have been taken as a lover by Raz at that point considering how they where all resting on the bed
Of course it was also nice getting Raziel fucking Dany haha
That is precisely what was happening.
We don't really know what is the training regime in Westeros. I can only assume that it's the same as in real-life during the Medieval Europe, which Wrestling was a sport played for fitness. And they were not really training, they were just having a match for fun, Raziel only noted the benefits while remembering Duncan the Tall.
Robyn is basically Sweetrobin if he was raised by House Royce.
Haha...
Me too...
Raziel is very tough to anger, but when you do, he's as vicious as Joffrey.
It was killed by his Eagle so...
The poor old man will still be disturbed by how Raziel did it though.
Thanks again...
Cersei liking someone, unlikely, her favorite ones will be the ones that she can easily manipulate.
He will ask her to do the respectful work while Sandor gets the dirty work and lets leave it at that.
That's Raziel to you, always doing controversial stuff.
Probably.
That's an interesting idea.
I don't know about that (Personally, I see their daughter getting obsessed with one of her half-brothers.) but I kind of imagine an older Alayne (Looking like Lucretia from Spartacus.) instructing her daughter on how to get rid of her rivals for her object of obsession's love (Sadly, she wouldn't inherit her mother's cuckquean attitude.)
Maybe the Stormbringer.
Pretty much, yes.
Yup.
Maybe after some manipulation from the Queen and after her dear cousin purposefully inputs some paranoia over the fragility of their betrothal.
He needs to make sure that Joy is going to be okay without her father around and he knows that his grandfather will make sure that she's looked after if she bears the name Lannister.
Hahaha, don't worry, her Khal is not Drogo. Raziel is still there to specifically hunt him down.
Haha...
I loven the story but i think you're going a bit overboard with the rewiews. This chapter had More rewiews and answering tha actual story.
I apologize for that.
This was super gross and uncomfortable. Cersei is an awful person and a lunatic.
Good, it was supposed to be uncomfortable and even disturbing.
its not really a harem if the girls go around fucking other guys mate, that just means he's in a bunch of open relationships
Arianne is the only one that would really qualify as an open relationship to be sincere.
bro honest opinion you have made the story SHIT! Your author's notes are larger than the chapters and you show whole plots in forms of previews.
Thanks for your honest opinion and I hope you don't give up on the story over that. I'm sorry for the A/N but I get a lot of questions and I really like to answer them all, but I promise that I will solve the length problem. The previews are there because of the time it takes to update, simply to show what you can expect from this due to the relatively slow pacing that I use in my writing.
Is Raziel going to have lovers from foreign countries?
Like from the Free cities, Yi Ti or someother places besides Westeros
Maybe....
Catelyn should come in this harem as well
Raziel wouldn't touch Catelyn, even if you forced him to. Because she repulses him. And Catelyn really dislikes Raziel due to his relationship with her children and niece. (constantly butting heads with Robb, teasing and making Sansa jealous, encouraging Arya's wild behavior, being an anti-role model to Bran, being BFFs with Jon, Etc.)
Welcome back, I miss this story. I have to make sure even though I know I didn't read it. But did Cersei she with him and I missed it? Anyway please keep Cersei in the harem with going yandere for son.
They haven't gone all the way yet.
Catelyn souls come in this s harem as well lol
Anyway thank you
No, she shouldn't.
You welcome
im confused about one thing, this is a harem right? does that mean alll the chicks he sleeps w are going to be loyal to him or will they fuck around aswell? I srsly doubt arianne would be loyak to him considering her character in got
Raziel's response to that:
{
Arianne: And If I tell you tell you that I might get myself a lover in your absence?
Raziel: (Smirks) I would tell you to try to have fun, but we both know that he won't measure up to me.
Arianne: (Smirks as well) Who said that it has to be a he?
Raziel: Or both, I just have one request. If you get a woman as your lover, I want to hear all of the details in letters.
Arianne: And if it's a man?
Raziel: (Approached her ear to whisper.) Think about me, while he's fucking you.
Arianne: No problem, I will even scream your name for him to hear it. (Licks his ear seductively.)
Raziel: Describe the face that he makes afterwards in the letter then.
Arianne: (Moves her head back and stares at him with her large dark eyes.) Farewell, My Prince.
Raziel: Farewell, My Princess.
(The two of them passionately kissed one another in the lips in front of everyone in the harbor.)
}
Dumb Sheperd son attacking someone with a hawk... if that hawk isn't a clue that the guy is potentially wealthy than I don't know what is lol.
All in all, Raziel definitely proved he's Cersei's son as much as Robert's
Smallfolk aren't exactly known for their brains. Ummm, It's an Eagle, not a Hawk and Raziel sent him flying away before he spoke to the Shepherd.
He has all of his families (Baratheon and Lannister) good and bad traits.
looking forward for new chapter.
I'm glad.
WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!
"Alayne Rivers entering the room carrying that strange weapon of hers that smells like brimstone."
Are you implying that Alayne Rivers has a gun? You did imply that Raziel is going to be making Gunpowder in the preview where he was fucking his mother.
Let's just say that... Raziel learned the recipe for the YiTish Powder after seeing some YiTish weapons in practice.
{Question from another story:}
Got a few questions
One with the Dragon Ball story would it start at the beginning of Z so Zaspion already went through everything in dragon ball and absolutely crushed everything
I mean christ at the start of Z I could see him beating Frieza easily even in just his base form
Hope he has a rate of growth akin to canon Broly
Can he have learned all of Roshi's techniques to pair with his own moves
When he has children can it be noted that while they are powerful and have high potential their potential is nothing compared to Zaspions own
Will Zaspion arrive on earth a bit older than Goku was so he actually knows what he is and all that
Hope it's noted to that while he loves fighting Zaspion is a great husband and father to
Lastly are you a fan of One Piece and Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel
No, it would start on the original Dragon Ball, but the events of Z will occur much sooner due to Zaspion's absurd power level.
Not as tall as Broly, but he almost reaches his height.
That's precisely what will happen.
Kind of..
Slightly older than Goku, yes.
Definitely. He sadly has a bit of Saitama situation going for him.
One Piece, yes. Used to binge watch with my Best friend before she started to date my bully.
Helluva Boss/Hazbin Hotel, never saw it, is it any good?
