Who knows by Marion Black song inspiration for this chapter
Cal walked over to his phone and dialed Torres's cell phone. "Torres are you and Foster back from your meeting?" "Or have you all left for the day ?"
"Yeah, I'm on my way up the elevator as we speak, I was going to grab my keys and head home. "What's going on?" Cal could hear the elevator ding at the end of her words and her heels clicking softly.
"Come to my office before you head out, there is a client I would like you to meet." Ria walked into Lightman's office, noticing the well dressed and extremely good looking man seated there. She was smiling to herself as she took the man in.
"This is Perry Lavigne" Cal spoke, watching the same pupil dilation that Heidi and Zoe had in his young protégé. Perry stood up, shaking Rias' hand with a welcoming smile on his face.
"He's a fashion designa" Cal said with added flare as he flicked his wrist and hand in a flamboyant manner towards Perry. looking at Torres, as she processed the meaning behind his tone and expression. Her face showed understanding and a small hint of disappointment . He started chuckling to himself looking at Perry, I see no signs of arousal. I can't say for a fact he is gay, but he does not seem interested in Zoe or Ria in any way. No arousal ,or flirtation .
"Lovely to meet you, Mr Lavigne. Lightman, can I speak to you for a quick sec" Torres walked near Lightman's study , Cal in tow. "Before we get started, Foster wanted me to tell you the good news. We landed Goldstein law as a client! Well…Foster landed Goldstein law," Ria proclaimed proudly with a hint of amusement…. and something else. Cal could not fully pick up on what that could mean just yet.
"That's a huge client, so the meeting went well, eh?" " Ria smiled then tried to hide her amusement as Cal continued, "What?" What happened that's got you all giddy? "And why couldn't Foster tell me such great news herself?" Cal moved close to her face.
" Fosters just finishing up; she said she might miss you and told me to tell you." She said this firmly, crossing her arms in front of herself. "The meeting went fantastic, you should know. Foster had them eating from her hands by the end. They could not be more thrilled to work with our office…or more or less Foster" she spoke in a soft voice, smiling as she remembered the group of lawyers' faces as Gillian spoke with them. Half of them married, trying to conceal their desire and arousal while taking in the brilliant Doctor. The other half not bothering to hide it at all.
" they agreed to a one year contract with the Lightman Group by the end of the meeting," she said, her smile warm but something else showing through.
"Something else happened that you're not saying that has you so amused... "Alright, spill it Torres"
Smirking and speaking with amusement, Torres continued, "The main lawyer we were speaking with , Bill, had the hots for Foster and I mean, he really…"
"I get it Torres! Continue: " Cal spoke harsher than intended. Who doesn't have the hots for her? Make a mental note to keep this Bill character away from Foster.
"He asked her out at the end of our dinner... Foster, ever the professional, turned him down gently, letting him know she does not date clients. ethics and all. I have never seen a man with such a big ego get deflated so fast," Ria laughed after she spoke, Bill was attractive, smart, but definitely full of himself. He seemed to be the type who was not used to not getting everything he wanted. For Foster to turn him down so kindly and sweetly was something to see.
Cal smiled and laughed softly that's my girl turning down these plonkers. Well, she's not my girl. You want her to be your girl. Stop thinking like that, you can't have her not like that…. Not like you truly want. "Well, that is some good news."
Looking at Torres she mouthed the word 'jealous' to him silently so that Perry and Zoe could not hear. Zoe was looking at her with irritation and annoyance, and Perry with curiosity.
"Oight back to fashion man," he walked back to Perry and Zoe. Zoe is looking more annoyed for the delay.
Looking to Zoe he spoke with assurance "Sorry, luv business called. " turning to Perry he continued "Back to your liar. We will just need all of your employees to come to our office, or we can come to yours; which would be betta? Oh, and of course we need to discuss the charge for our service"
"My apologies for complicating things, Doctor Lightman," Perry spoke firmly before Lightman could continue "but half my staff are actually located in France." In a small village... with no internet. I like it that way because it keeps me away from the outside world and lets me focus on my art and nothing else. They do have phones; however, is there any way this can be accomplished over the phone?" He spoke with hesitation and concern. He was hoping his case wasn't to difficult for Lightman.
"Well, that does complicate things, Mr. Lavign. Torres you're out," turning to Ria her mouth open in shock, "your not a voice expert, luv that's Foster's Arena," Ria acknowledged with a small nod of understanding. Foster would have to of course agree to working this case…that Zoe brought in. We aren't really in a position to turn down any business now are we. He thought solemnly.
"Do they at least speak English?" He looked to Perry who shook his head no.
"Look mate I haven't taken French since high school, and last time I was in France, I spent the entire time drunk off my ass. The most I can do is order a beer or ask you to come to bed with me. Both are not helpful in this case…I assume any way…. We will need a translator." He said it with a huff of frustration and irritation.
"Je peux traduire….I can translate "
