Hi there, new author in an old fandom here. This is re-uploaded 'cause I wasn't sure if anyone would actually read this- and wow look at that ya'll did! So, after some research, I realized I should add in some extra stuff:

"MacGyver! MAC!"
Someone was pounding on his front door.
Instantly awake, he jumped off the couch and ran to the door, flinging it wide open.
Jack Dalton stood on the dock. He pushed his way past MacGyver as soon as the door opened.
"Jack! What's wrong?" MacGyver asked his friend. "Friend," however, was a loose term. He never quite knew what kind of trouble Jack was bringing to his doorstep. Last time, he'd been in the middle of a scam involving priceless jewels. Before that, Jack had been caught smuggling orchids illegally- with cocaine hidden in the pots.
For lack of a better term- Jack Dalton was trouble.
He now stood in MacGyver's living room, out of breath.
"Mac. You've got to come to see this!" Jack said.
MacGyver sat down on the couch. "No." He said.
"No?!" Dalton said.
"No!" MacGyver said, throwing up his hands in exasperation. "I refuse to be dragged into another one of your schemes!"
"But, Mac! I promise there's nothing illegal this time! I just want you to come and see this thing I found!"
MacGyver crossed his arms over his chest. "No. Nope. Not again."
"Please! It's only behind my apartment! Just fifteen minutes. I just want to know what you think I should do with this thing."
Finally, his curiosity won. "What thing?" He asked.
"I-I don't know! That's what I want YOU to tell me! It looks kinda like a mirror. In the middle of the woods!"
MacGyver raised an eyebrow.
"Did someone put a mirror in the woods?" He asked.
"No! Or, I don't think so. Why would someone do that?"
MacGyver shrugged. "You tell me."
Dalton walked towards the door.
"Please. Just fifteen minutes."
MacGyver sighed. "Fine. But at the first sign of trouble-"
"I know, I know. You can leave whenever you want to. I promise."
He grabbed his keys and headed out the door.

Colonel Jack O'Neill and his team stepped through the Stargate onto P4X-396, the latest planet on their mission list. They looked around. It was primarily composed of a forest, with a trickling river somewhere out of sight.
"Kind of reminds me of Vancouver," Dr. Daniel Jackson said.
They fanned out, scanning their surroundings. Slowly making their way through the forest, they documented any findings and took soil samples. After about 10 minutes, the group stumbled onto a crumbling building that may have been a hut at some point.
Dr. Jackson pulled out his video camera and started to record. O'Neill sat down on a log, sighing heavily. "Should I radio the SGC now and tell them we're going to be here another day?"
Daniel looked up from the particularly interesting rock he'd been studying.
"Jack, come on. This will be quick."
"And these ruins are in excellent condition, considering the rather corrosive environment," Carter added with a shrug.
"Carter! Not you too!" O'Neill complained. He turned to Teal'c.
"At least I know you're on my side, T." He turned back to him. "Right?"
Teal'c looked at him out of the corner of his eye and raised an eyebrow.

A short hike in the woods behind Dalton's apartment brought them to the object in question.
"It's a mirror," MacGyver said.
"I know," Dalton replied.
The curious object was just over five feet tall and reflected their image at them. It was strange looking, with a jagged border of rock. It looked like it weighed no less than five hundred pounds.
"What should we do with it?" Dalton asked MacGyver.
Dalton was about to reply when something on the ground caught his attention. He picked it up. It looked like a gleaming rock with purple and blue swirls.
Dalton's eyebrows shot up. "I wonder how much this baby is worth!"
MacGyver took it out of his hands. He scrutinized it, fingering the oddly shaped dials on the face. Suddenly, the mirror in front of them shifted its image.
"Woah!" Dalton said. The image now displayed trees instead of their reflections.
"Something's wrong with your mirror," MacGyver said.
Dalton grabbed the stone out of MacGyver's hands. He turned it over and promptly dropped it on the ground. He quickly picked it up again.
"Oops."
Dalton looked back at the mirror. They both stared at it in confusion.
"I wonder if it's a trick. Like it's reflecting the image of the forest around us," MacGyver said, stepping closer to the strange device.
Dalton shrugged. "I'm not going to find out."
MacGyver turned to him. "C'mon. It's not like it's magic or anything. There's probably some pretty neat science behind this thing," He said.
MacGyver took another step toward the mirror and touched the surface.
He vanished.
Dalton took a step backward in shock. He slowly set the stone down again. He waited a few seconds for MacGyver to appear, but finally, his curiosity got the best of him. Dalton carefully extended a single finger and touched the mirror.

It had only been 20 minutes, but Colonel O'Neill was already bored. The rest of his team was excitedly chattering about their findings.
Carter walked up to him. "Sir, we should prepare some samples to return to the SGC. This mineral isn't like anything we've seen before."
He was just about to tell her that was fine when a blast slammed into a tree right by them.
All four members of SG-1 were instantly on their feet, weapons drawn, all scientific investigation forgotten.
Another shot smashed into the ground close to Carter's feet. They all dove for cover behind the ruins.
"Head for the Gate!" O'Neill said to his team as he took a blind shot into the woods.
They glanced at each other and began to run.
As they ran through the woods, more blasts followed them, firing back at their unseen assailant.
They arrived at the Stargate after a few minutes. Daniel faced the DHD and started to dial. The three remaining members aimed their weapons in the direction of the shots.
Suddenly, another shot came at them, grazing Carter's arm and smashing into the DHD. Dr. Jackson was thrown backward at the force of the blast and directly into Teal'c. He hit the ground with a surprised 'oof.'
Carter ran to him. "Are you okay?" She asked, keeping her weapon trained on the forest where the blasts had mysteriously stopped.
He stood up, slightly dazed, glasses askew.
"Yeah. I'm fine, but the DHD's not." A glance at the device in question proved this to be true.
"Go!" O'Neill yelled.
They all took off towards the cover of the woods across from the Stargate. More blasts followed them. Once they hit the forest, they fanned out in a defensive position, facing the gate, weapons at the ready.
A stick snapping behind them caused all four to whirl around, weapons at the ready.
O'Neill's finger twitched on the trigger before he registered his target.
A man stood before them, holding two ends of a broken stick in his hands. He dropped the stick and raised his hands slowly.
"Who are you?" O'Neill barked.
The man looked at him curiously, relatively unfazed at being held at gunpoint. "Name's MacGyver."
"Where are you from? Is there a village near here?" O'Neill questioned.
"Uh, born and raised in Minnesota," MacGyver said.
"On Earth?" Carter asked, confused.
It was the strange man's turn to look confused.
"There's another option?"
Just then, a voice called out. "Mac! Where are you?!" MacGyver raised his eyebrows in an unspoken question. O'Neill nodded.
"Jack! Over here!"
They heard the sounds of a person crashing through the brush. Dalton emerged out of the trees.
"Mac! Thank goodness! I thought-" He caught sight of the four guns pointed at them. "Woah!" He quickly raised his hands.
"Who are those guys?" He whispered.
MacGyver was about to answer but stopped.
"Yeah, who are you guys?" He asked.
SG-1 shared a quick glance at each other. O'Neill spoke. "Uh, we're explorers."
"Pretty heavily armed for just explorers." MacGyver pointed out.
SG-1 was saved from having to answer that by a blast sailing overhead. Everyone, except for Dalton, dove for cover.
Teal'c and Daniel fired back, while Carter squatted down next to O'Neill.
"We have to get back to the Gate!" She said.
"Do you think you can fix the DHD?" O'Neill asked.
"Maybe. It took a direct hit. Iffy at best."
"Gate?" MacGyver asked. "You mean the mirror?"
Carter looked at him. "Mirror?"
"Yeah, that's how we got here, I think."
Carter and O'Neill looked at each other.
"Quantum mirror."
MacGyver stood up and ran deeper into the woods. O'Neill gestured for his team to follow, and ran after him.
They stopped abruptly. Sure enough, it was a quantum mirror. Carter found the control device propped up on a nearby rock. Another blast hit off to their left as she fiddled with the dials.
"Where to?" Carter asked O'Neill.
"Anywhere but here!"
The image on the mirror shifted to a dark room.
"Looks peaceful enough, let's go!"
The six of them touched the mirror and vanished.
They stood in what appeared to be a storage closet.
"Uh, so can someone explain what just happened?" MacGyver said, looking around the room.
O'Neill ignored the question, instead addressing SG-1. "I think this is in one of the storage closets at the SGC."
"There aren't any windows at the SGC." Daniel pointed out. Carter moved to the window on the far side of the closet and looked out.
"Oh," She said quietly. "That's a problem."
The others joined her. A stunning view of Earth, far below them, was visible through the window.
