Derry Girls belong to Channel 4 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer belongs to WB

Prologue

In 1993, in a small town of Derry. Erin Quinn is a young 14 year old, who is on her way home from school with her cousin Orla.

Orla is currently sucking on a Dummy Sweet that she has brought from a sweet shop, whilst she looks up at the clouds in a daydream.

Orla takes the dummy out of her mouth. 'Do you think clouds are up there because God is asleep?' She asks curiously.

Erin looks up the sky, then back to Orla, confused by the question or where it came from. 'Why would the clouds mean God is sleeping?'

'Because they say clouds are pillows and maybe God is up there sleeping. If so, he is very lazy because there are loads of them.'

The older cousin looks at her cousin in disbelief. She always finds Orla very eccentric and it does drive her mad but usually just leaves Orla in her own train of thought.

'I don't think they are actual pillows Orla. It's usually small water droplets that that are floating up there.'

Orla winces. 'He has a water bed?'

That does it for Erin, as she sees the park on the left, needing to get some piece and quiet from Orla.

'On that note, I'm somewhere else.' Erin moans.

'Can I come?'

'No Orla, I'll see you at home. I am just going to write on my diary.'

Orla nods and walks home alone. She doesn't mind as it gives her another reason to read the latest chapter in Erin's diary for her school project.

Erin on the other hand, is desperate to get away from Orla for a least an hour. She was just getting a headache from listening to Orla talking and she needs plenty of breaks as she could get.

Erin pulls out her diary from her bag and proceeds to write. She likes to write in her spare time and always considers her writing a masterpiece. This is what she likes to do in her own time. But it sad when the small things and her dream to be a writer will end.

A British Man in a hat walks up to the young Irish girl, with a briefcase in his hand.

'Erin Quinn?'

Chapter 1

1994, Erin first day back in school has been a nightmare. After fighting vampires and demons for the past year, she thought she can start her day normal.

But of course she gets into trouble for bullying after Michelle threaten a first year so they can sit in the back of the bus, getting detention in the progress and witness Sister Declan die in her sleep during that detention, while her friends, Michelle tried to get her lipstick back, Clare stuffing a sandwich in her mouth despite that she trying was saving her money for her sponsor to a boy in Africa, Orla being amazed that Sister Declan eyes were still open while she was "sleeping" and the new "English fella" name James is peeing on a plant pot.

All she wanted is to meet with David and be like a normal teenager just for one day. A life she has lost for the past year.

After the eventful day at school, Erin was ready to leave home with her family until…

'Miss Quinn, can I please talk to you?'

Erin eyes rolls in frustration as she turns to the Librarian name William Carter, who got the job through connections with the Watchers, to train Erin. He is a middle age man in his 50's with grey smartened hair and wears a cassock.

'Can't just give me a day, can't you? Not even one wee day!' She moans in annoyance.

William turns to Sister Michaels office. 'Didn't need to. A plant pot and lipstick. You do know that the cleaners are not too pleased with that plant pot.'

'Can you please tell James where he can go to use toilets, please? He's been banging on about it ever since he arrived to this school.' Erin grunts in frustration.

William nods 'I'll tell him as soon as I see him. Though I am surprised the school would let him attend here, the council struggled to get me the job. Why isn't he in a boy school?'

'He's English.'

The older man frowns, unsure how to respond. 'I see. Well Miss Quinn, I am here to tell you that you will need to be on patrol tonight.'

Erin grits her teeth in annoyance. 'Patrol? There are hardly any vampires or two headed demons in Derry for the past 2 weeks, can't I just have one week off?'

'Evil never rest.'

'They fecking rested last night. I spent a few hours strolling at the cemetery and the only dangerous thing that attacked me was seeing Uncle Colm and started talking to me about one of his stories.' Erin pulls her hair over her ears. 'And besides Carter...' He prefers to be called by his surname. '…I'm grounded. After what happened today my Ma is never going to let me go out tonight.'

Carter crosses his arms. 'And what happens if someone dies because you were at home, "grounded"? What if Michelle dies when she sneaks out? Because you know she will in fact sneak out.' Erin starting to feel more pressured as she listens to her Watcher. 'Or what happens when a mother, father, daughter, son, brother or sister died? Their family will mourn for their loss or might lose their lives if that person comes back as a Vampire. You have a calling, Erin. Just like all the other Slayers before you.'

Erin puts her head down, taking in that guilt trip. She hates listening to them, because it gives her the reason to do her job. The job she hates so much.

'Okay. I'll go after dinner.'

Erin sneaks out of her home as quietly as she could. She has learnt to sneak out properly for a whole year, to make sure her family doesn't get too suspicious. Trying to shake Orla off was always a handful, since she likes to spend her time and talking about stuff that doesn't makes sense to her, or to Orla.

Erin spends most of her nights at the cemetery by herself, strolling along the path. The cemetery is a long field and finds it boring just walking around aimlessly.

'2 weeks and not even one wee Vampire.' Erin moans to herself.

'Erin?'

Erin yelps, as she turns behind her to finds David standing there, curiously looking at her.

'Why are you alone at the cemetery at this time of night?'

The young slayer looks around her, making sure that they have the all clear.

'I enjoy spending my time here.' She said, as Erin awkwardly grins while wincing her nose up.

Good lie… she thought to herself sarcastically.

'You enjoy spending time here?' He asks curiously.

'Everyone has a hobby!' She said, sounding even less believable.

'Right…' Jack, scratched his head, deciding to drop the subject. 'Shame you missed the gig. It was cracking. I even met a girl there.'

Erin heart sank as soon as she heard that.

'Oh?' She says, trying to sound happy.

Jack nods. 'Yeah it was amazing. She told me to meet her round the corner. Take care Erin.'

Erin nods, faking a smile.

And there goes another reason why she hates her life. Detention, grounded, slaying and now lost her chance on a date.

The young slayer closes her eyes, breathing in the air to calm her nerves. It's the only way to keep her calm now. It wasn't writing anymore, since she was caught up with her job and school work, but the peace in the wind. The air blew and the smell of greasy chips in the air from the distant chip shop. The sound of her breathing and the clean oxygen from her lungs. But during her breathing, her eyes open with fear and realisation, turning around, sensing something.

'David.'

Erin runs as fast as she could, thanks to her speed she developed from being the Slayer. She felt it in the pit of the stomach that something wasn't right and that David is in danger.

But the time she arrived, it was too late. David was on the floor, blood on the grass, hovered by a woman with red hair in a black dress and leather boots. Wearing a short leather jacket, while her fangs covered in blood, revealing her vamp face.

'Sorry.' The woman said in a Scottish accent, as she looks at Erin with a mischievous grin. 'Got hungry.'

Erin looks at her in shock and fear. The fear she felt for the past year.

The woman stands up, wiping the blood of her lips.

'Not your boyfriend, is he? He didn't say he was seeing anyone, when I spoke to him.' The woman says viciously, walking up to Erin like seeing her pray.

'So… wanna run lassie?'

Erin's eyes change. The fear faded and anger rises as she gives the vampire the death stare.

The Vampire eyes went from hunter to weary, as she takes the step back. Why isn't this young girls afraid of her?

'Aren't you meant to be running?'

Erin makes her first swings a punch in two weeks, sending the monster flying to the ground. The Vampire recovers as quickly as she could, not feeling that kind of pain from a human with that strength before.

'What the hell?'

Erin pulls out her stake from her back pocket.

'You're her!' The vampire said in fear.

Erin upper lip lifts to her nose.

'I'm me.'

The Vampire gets her strength back as she jumps to her feet and leaps to young blonde. Erin grabs the Vampire by both her arms and pulls the Vampire to her side, making the Vampire land to the ground.

The Vampire rises again and this time, sending a punch, which Erin ducks with ease.

Erin then then rises from her duck, landing 2 more combos to the vampires face, as the Vampire growls in frustration.

Erin tries to plant the stake to the heart, but the Vampire grabs her arm and drags Erin to the floor, dropping her stake.

With Erin pinned to the ground in the tussle. Erin uses her leg and kicks the Vampire upwards, sending the monster flying again.

Erin quickly gets to her knees and crawls to her stake. The Vampire gets on her feet and starts to charge at the Slayer.

Erin picks up the stake and without looking, stabs the Vampire behind her.

The Vampire then turns to dust as Erin slowly gets back on her feet.

Erin slowly looks at David, feeling guilty that she let him off alone at this time, knowing the dangers around here.

'What the actual fuck?'

Erin eyes widen as she turns to see her friends looking at her.

Michelle looks at the dust on the floor and David dead body.

'What the actual, Holy of the unholy, fuck?'

'That's not normal round here is it?' James croaked.

'Did that woman turn to dust? How the heck does that even happen?' Claire said, panicking.

'I liked her hair. It was very pretty.' Said Orla, as she chews on her hoodie drawstring.

'What're you lot doing here?' Erin asks, fear in her eyes knowing her secret is revealed.

'Sneaking out that's what.' Michelle said, gritting her teeth.

'Did we just witness the murder or that woman or was it self defence?' Claire asked everyone whilst panic, with her voice raising higher by every word than normal.

Erin takes a deep breath, unsure how to explain the situation. 'Listen, I need you girls to listen-.'

'I'm a boy.' James says, nervously.

Erin rolls her eyes 'I know but for the moment-.'

Claire speaks again 'Is Erin going to prison? Wait, are we going to prison for abetting? I'm not defending you for this. I will confess to everything, I am not going to prison for you.'

Michelle looks at Claire in disbelief. 'We all know where you stand Claire.'

'Everyone calm down!' Erin says in frustration. 'I will explain everything, but first we need to get William Carter.'

'That old Library guy?' Michelle asks in confusion. 'The feck does he have to do with any of this?'

'I said I will explain everything. Just do as I say please.'

At Carters house, Erin is sitting outside the porch step, having a moment to herself, while Carter is on the phone with the Watchers. Erin is angry at herself for what happened to David and even more angry that she got caught by her friends. She tried so hard to keep her private life and Slayer life separate but now are mixed together.

Carter comes out of her house and sits next to Erin.

'I've spoken to the council. They will be dealing with the David situation, making sure it looks like an accident. Just to give his family some peace.'

Erin doesn't make eye contact.

'Isn't that just lying.'

'It might be a bit of a "wee" lie.' He says trying to be comforting with his joke and failing.

Erin looks at her Watcher in anger, picking a bad moment to try and imitate her phrases.

'I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't of said that. But you know we can't let these demons be common knowledge to this world. We need to keep it contained or the whole world would be in utter chaos.'

Erin looks away again. 'He shouldn't of been dead. If I just took tonight a bit more seriously, I could of protected him. It's my job to do that and I fucked it up. I felt like a right eejit.' Erin starts to tear up, unable to bury her feelings. 'And now they know and now they must think me as some sort of freak.'

Carter wraps his arm over her shoulder.

'They're your friends. They will understand.'

Erin looks to Carter, wiping the tears off her eyes.

'That's the thing though, Carter. They won't ever understand.'

Carter could only swallow, with no words coming out. He wanted to say something comforting but there isn't much to say to Erin. The Slayers life a lonely life that no one, not even the Watchers, can understand.

Erin gets up and walks inside the house, ready to face the music.

All her friends jumps off the sofa as Erin enters the house, all standing awkwardly for her to say something.

Erin looks at them uncomfortably, but takes a deep long breath.

'So I suppose you have questions.'

'A few, yea!' Michelle projected. 'Like "how did you learn to fight like that?" Or "how come you're that strong like a fecking gorilla?" Or "did you just fought a fucking vampire?'

'And is there any Pop-tarts?' Orla asks, joining in to the suggest questions.

Erin closes her eyes, thinking of where to start.

'You guys need to sit down. I'll explain everything.'

The group sat down on Erin's advice, ready to listen.

'Okay, ummm… where should I start?' Erin asks to herself.

There was silent pause. First time the group remained silent for more than the minute. Everyone all looked amongst each other to suggest something.

'How about the beginning?' James suggested, finding his voice.

Erin looks at James, nodding in agreement.

'I was once told that "In every generation, there is a chosen one." And it was the day I met Carter a year ago, after walking home from school…"

Thank you for reading.

I've been off writing Fanfictions for a long time, as I have lost the interest to continue writing.

But then I started watching Derry Girls after binging on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I had this idea for some time and got me motivated to write again.

I'm trying to make it more original storylines than the actual series, but I might write the episodes I enjoy from the show to the story, but I want to make it more different to the actual show.

The characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer will in fact be making an appearance.

Hope everyone likes it!
