Lisa Gets Some News

One day just before her riding lesson at Pine Hollow, Lisa Atwood was putting her riding boots on.

When her mother, Eleanor entered the house with the mail in hand.

"Lisa, you got a letter, from your cousin on your father's side," Eleanor said. "his name is Benjamin, and he is now the King of the United States of Auradon."

"Let me see Ben's letter." Lisa requested.

Eleanor handed the letter off to Lisa who read it silently.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Lisa exclaimed.

Melanie came out of her bedroom in her soccer uniform.

"What is it, Lisa?" Melanie asked.

Lisa read Ben's letter out loud to Eleanor and Melanie.

Lisa: Dear Lisa,

Mal and I are coming to Willow Creek on a highly important matter.

Carlos De Vil will also be with us.

Mal and I will see you soon,

Your cousin,

King Benjamin of Auradon.

Melanie put her soccer bag on the floor.

"Oh wow! Lisa," Melanie exclaimed. "I wonder what Cousin Ben's matter will be!"

"We will know soon enough, Melanie." Lisa said.

In Castle Beast in Auradon, Ben went into his and Mal's bedroom to find Mal still packing her luggage.

"Are you ready yet, Mal?" Ben asked.

"Almost, Ben!" Mal said.

"Our flight leaves in forty-five minutes!" Ben groaned irritably.

"Sorry, Ben, I didn't realize I was that behind." Mal said.

"Not to worry, it's only a ten minute drive to the airstrip." Ben told Mal.

"I suppose Fairy Godmother already has a sendoff planned?" Mal asked Ben.

"I wouldn't be surprised." Ben chuckled.

At the airstrip, Carlos was waiting on board the royal jet while Fairy Godmother stood outside waiting for Ben and Mal.

The pilot walked up to Carlos, "I've just received word that King Ben and Queen Mal are on their way." she said.

"I'll let Fairy Godmother know." Carlos said.

Carlos stepped outside the jet.

"What is it, Carlos?" Fairy Godmother asked.

"The king and queen are on their way." Carlos said to Fairy Godmother.

In a few minutes, the royal limo arrived.

"Strike up the band!" Fairy Godmother exclaimed.

The band started playing as Ben and Mal stepped out of the limo.

"Please," Ben said to the band. "that's enough."

The band stopped playing its lively fanfare.

"You were cutting that close." Fairy Godmother said to Mal and Ben.

"Sorry, Fairy Godmother, it was my fault." Mal sighed.

"Well, you're here now, that's all that counts." Fairy Godmother said to Mal and Ben.

"Everything ready?" Ben asked Fairy Godmother.

"The royal jet is fueled up and ready to go, have a safe trip." Fairy Godmother said to Ben and Mal.

"Thank you, Fairy Godmother." Ben said.

"You're welcome." Fairy Godmother called to Ben and Mal as they boarded the royal jet.

Back in Willow Creek, Lisa arrived at Pine Hollow only to discover that Pegasus had been tacked up for her in time for the lesson.

"Whoever tacked you up, Pegasus," Lisa said. "thank you."

Carole Hanson appeared in the stable doorway.

"I was careful when tacking up Pegasus for you." Carole said to Lisa.

"Thanks, Carole." Lisa said.

"Anytime, Lisa," Carole said. "now, we had best be getting out there for our lesson."

During the riding lesson, Stephanie Lake who everyone around Willow Creek called Stevie saw that Lisa was a bit more cheerful than usual.

"You're sure in a good mood today Lise." Stevie commented.

Lisa turned Pegasus around to face Stevie who was riding her beloved horse, Belle.

"Why shouldn't I be in a good mood, Stevie?" Lisa asked.

"No reason." Stevie answered Lisa.

Lisa cantered Pegasus around the riding ring.

Lisa jumped Pegasus over a hurdle as Max walked out of his office with Ben, Mal, and Carlos by his side.

"Nicely done, Lisa!" Max exclaimed.

Lisa dismounted Pegasus, Carole dismounted Starlight, and Stevie dismounted Belle.

"Thanks, Max." Lisa said.

Stevie and Carole recognized the couple at once.

"Wow! Carole! Do you see who I see?" Stevie asked.

"I see him but I don't believe it! You're King Ben of Auradon!" Carole exclaimed.

"Yes I am," Ben said. "my father and Lisa's father are brothers."

"Wow! Ben's your cousin, Lise? So that's why you've been in such a good mood today!" Stevie exclaimed.

"And," Mal said. "Benji's matter is bound to change your lives forever, Stevie, Carole, and Lisa."

"What is it?" Stevie asked, she was eager to learn what the King of Auradon had in mind for herself, Carole, and Lisa.

"Well, I might as well get to the point, I'd like to invite the three of you to attend Auradon Prep." Ben told Lisa, Stevie, and Carole.

Lisa, Stevie, and Carole screamed in delight.

"I thought that would please them." Mal said to Ben.

Lisa just realized something.

"But what about our horses? True, Pegasus belongs to Missis Reg and Max..." Lisa began.

"We can't just leave them." Carole protested.

"What would we do without our horses?" Stevie asked Ben.

"Not to worry, Auradon Prep has a fine riding program, I'll make arrangements to have your horses transported in style to Auradon Prep." Ben told the Saddle Club girls.

"Well, what do you say?" the Queen of Auradon asked Lisa, Stevie, and Carole.

Neither Stevie, Carole, nor Lisa hesitated in their answer.

"Yes! Yes! Yes!" Lisa, Carole, and Stevie exclaimed in unison.

Carlos came over to where Mal, Ben, and the Saddle Club were talking.

"I'm Carlos De Vil," Carlos said to Lisa, Carole, and Stevie. "and I'll be your new riding instructor at Auradon Prep."

Stevie faught back a laugh, "You're just a kid yourself! Like us!" she exclaimed.

Ben saw Lisa looking at the silver romani crystal pendant she wore around her neck.

"Anything wrong, Lisa?" Ben asked.

"What about Rafael?" Lisa inquired.

"Rafael? Oh! Your romani boyfriend! He had saved you when your old school horse, Prancer got spooked by a snake!" Ben exclaimed.

Right on cue, Rafael came riding into the ring on Diablo's broad back.

Rafael dismouted Diablo's bare back, walked up to Lisa and kissed her romantically.

"Don't worry, Lisa," Rafael said when the kiss was through. "Phil, Liam, and I are attending Auradon Prep too."

Lisa hugged Rafael, "Oh Darling! That is such wonderful news!" she exclaimed.

That evening at the Lake residence, Stevie was looking through her closet trying to decide what to pack to go with her to her new school.

When there came a knock on her bedroom door.

"Come in!" Stevie called.

Stevie's father entered her bedroom.

"Are you getting ready for your new life in Auradon?" Mister Lake asked Stevie.

"Yes, Dad," Stevie answered. "I am."

Mister Lake just looked at his only daughter.

"Just don't stay up too late, Stevie." Mister Lake advised.

"I won't," Stevie said. "thanks, Dad."

Mister Lake quietly slipped out of his daughter's bedroom.
