Chapter 1
"Great job!" said Asami as she hugged Mako, " What a comeback Korra. I've never seen a hat trick like that."
"Thanks. But if it hadn't been for you and your father we wouldn't have had the chance to play. So thank you." Korra responded as the bell rings in the distant area, signaling the start of the semifinals match that their rivals, the Wolfbats, are in. Immediately loud shouts are heard from the platform as the combatants start the round.
"Uh, if everyone's done with the thank you party," Bolin said miserably, gently rubbing his shoulder, "I need some medical attention over here."
"Ooh, let me help," Korra said, smiling as she walked over. Turning away from Asami and Mako.
"Ow! Gah, haven't you hurt me enough woman?" Bolin cried as Korra touched his bruised shoulder.
"Relax! I'm a healer. I learned from Katara, the best there is," said Korra as she bends the water from a nearby bucket of ice water and brings it to Bolin's shoulder. It started to glow blue and she gently placed it on his bruise.
"No no no no!" Bolin cried, then sighed, "Oooh, that's the stuff."
"Bolin, I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. I didn't mean to let things get so out of hand."
"Aah, I'll be alright. We had fun together, didn't we?"
"I had a great time, honestly. You are one of a kind Bolin."
"Please, go on," Bolin smirked, "I enjoy praise."
"Korra, Bo, you better come see this." Mako said urgently. Korra and Bolin look over to see Mako and Asami staring at the ring, a look of horror on their faces.
"What is it bro? Please tell me the Wolfbats getting a beat down from those other rookies?"
"See for yourself."
They walked over and saw Tahno and Shaozu already in their third zone, with their third member already in the water, trying their best to dodge the barrage of water and fire blasts coming at them from both sides. Their opponents were merciless, the firebender was holding nothing back as he shot a flurry of fireballs. The waterbender was more calm, using the water from the drain and sending them off in quick rapid strikes, targeting Tahno's arms and legs preventing him from completing his movements. The accuracy and speed of the waterbender and the fury of the firebender was intimidating, but the earthbender didn't look like much of a threat. He wasn't attacking, instead, he was actually bending down to pick up the discs, and after that started to throw them at the remaining Wolfbats.
"Is he even an earthbender?" Asami asked, "He doesn't seem to actually be bending the discs." Just as the words were out of her mouth, a disc hit Shaozu square in the chest knocking him off the platform and into the water.
"I don't think it really matters, he hits just as hard as anyone else," Mako said in amazement.
"He's way slower than any earthbender, especially me. I could take him easily," Bolin said confidently.
"They went for the Wolfbats earthbender first, he didn't last five seconds," Mako said grimly as he watched Tahno get swept off his feet by a water blast and launched from the stage from a well placed disc and fireball.
"I don't believe it folks," the radio announcer said, "With a brutal round one knockout the defending champs are out of the tournament, beaten by the only other rookie team in the tournament. For the first time since its inception, two rookie teams will fight in the championship. But who will win? The Fire Ferrets? With the Avatar and their exceptional teamwork that defeated opponents far more experienced than themselves? Or the most destructive team ever known? With every win a knockout? What will win? Teamwork? Or raw strength? I hope the Fire Ferrets are ready for their new challenger: Magnolia's Fairy Tail!"
