Chapter 1: Beginnings
"Hey Snow, what are you doing back there?Hurry up, we're gonna miss them."Said the energetic girl.
"Well stop running so fast Saya and maybe I can catch up" exclaimed Snow. I've known Saya my entire life, me and her have been obsessed with heroes,Inspired even ever since that All Might video. Who wasn't? The symbol of peace is what every hero should strive to be.
As we're running through the streets of Aptos there we saw 2 pro heroes stopping a bank robbery. The 2 pro heroes were none other than Aptos' greatest Eyepatch and Phantom,together they make team Grim Reapers. Despite their scary name they couldn't be far more different from grim reapers in fiction.
"PHANTOM RESTRAIN THEM!"shouted Eyepatch as he was getting ready to activate his quirk.
"Got it" with Phantom affirming her orders she turns invisible."Alright gotta make this count" Phantom readies her whip and releases it. Much to her dismay one of the villain's quirks was turning into a jelly like substance and avoided her whip all together. Only capturing two of the three villains, Eyepatch activates his quirk. Stunned with fear the villains freeze up, giving up any resistance they had.
"Eyepatch one got away, go after them,I'll stay here and watch these two". And in a moment's notice Eyepatch is darting down the street chasing after the villain.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT MAN" said the poor villain running as fast as he could away from Eyepatch. The villain dares to look back once and he's gone. Eyepatch disappeared without a trace until suddenly he falls right onto the villain knocking him out instantly."I'm gonna have to thank Phantom for making this grappling hook,beats trying to scale buildings."
"HOORAY THE HEROES SAVED THE DAY AGAIN" all you can hear from the civilians from Aptos was their excitement and praise to the duo of heroes.
"Well I'm sure the police can handle it from here right Phantom." "Yeah we should start heading out don't wanna be late to our little arrangement" "Trust me I've been waiting for this all week" Phantom holds onto Eyepatch and grapples onto the nearest rooftop and with that they're out of view.
"Man it was so cool mom you just had to see it."
"Ok you can tell me all about it in a second just let me take your temperature Snow." This was a regular occurrence to me ever since I was young. My quirk works the same as my Father Hayato. Our Quirk is called absolute zero we're able to use our own blood to shape it into a physical material like a sword for example,and freeze it at will. If not careful enough you can end up damaging yourself severely. Taking my temperature was a way to see if my quirk was active or not because I'm still untrained and can hurt myself badly at my young age.
"But you checked my temperature yesterday mom. Can't it wait til tomorrow."
"Snow you should know how important it is, don't want to hurt yourself before your first day at your new school." Saori my mom was always over protective and a big worry wart but her heart is in the right place.
"Snow listen to your mother she always knows best."
"*sigh* Ok". As my mother is taking my temperature, I notice my father looking through his briefcase with a concerned look."Hey dad whatcha looking for?"
"It's nothing Snow,Saori dear, how's his temperature?" "98.6 so his quirk isn't active. Wish that I didn't have to do this all of the time ``
''Don't worry starting next week I'll be teaching Snow how to use his quirk." I was overfilled with excitement hearing my dad say he'll teach me how to use my quirk. Of course it would be the basics, you can't exactly teach a 5 year old how to wield a sword or in my father's case twin daggers. Nonetheless my journey to becoming a hero was starting and I couldn't wait.
"But dad I wanna start now I wanna be as cool as both you and Eyepatch"
"Why not I can teach you one thing right before you head to bed. Let me see your hand." I extend my hand out to my father, he demonstrates making a snowflake. Then he ushered me to try it and to no avail nothing happened,the only thing that I was able to do was make my hand cold in the process.
"Dad it isn't working."
My dad lets out a small chuckle before speaking."Don't worry in due time Snow it took me a long time to master my quirk. I want you to practice for 30 minutes a day trying to make a snowflake." I tried a couple more times and kept on failing. I let out a big yawn and my mother picked me up.
"Looks like my little snowflake is sleepy."
"No I'm not" I say this as I'm fighting back another yawn.
"Tomorrow is your first day at your new school Snow. Don't want to start it off with a tardy."
"No mom."
"Good."
"Goodnight Dad"
"Goodnight Snow,oh and Saori you don't mind dropping him off at school. I'll be working early in the morning again." My mother brings me into my room and tucks me into bed. Kisses me on the forehead and says"Goodnight Snow"
"Goodnight mom" My mother closes the door and the tiredness quickly takes over and I fall asleep.
My mother is now resuming the conversation with my father as to why he has to leave for work early again. "I don't mind taking Snow to his new school but is everything alright dear this is the 5th time you've left for work early" My Father is a hero without borders so to the most literal sense he gets called out to all over the world, so we never stay in one place for too long hence why tomorrow will be the start of my new school. He has a skill set which isn't becoming of a hero more so tows along the lines of a vigilante.
"Yeah everything is alright honey I'll make it back before Snow gets out of school to pick him up."
"Please don't let this be a dangerous job,...just make it back home safe." My father reaches out to my mother and hugs her tightly.
"This week will be my last and we'll be staying here permanently. Aptos is a quiet little town with little noise. Who knows, it might be fun to tag along with the grim reapers."
"It sure would be a much needed change of pace to not have to move every 3 months or so. It's also a plus that the Sasaki's here are people whom we're friends with already."
"Yeah, a familiar face is definitely a plus,this place is good for Snow and you can start up your flower shop idea."
"One step at a time first let's get acquainted with the neighbors and have Snow settle in." My mother and Father let out a big yawn in unison.
"guess we should start heading to bed ourselves we have a big day tomorrow" My mother nods her head in agreement and both head to their room to sleep.
Author's note: So I know this is probably terribly long(or incredibly short) but I really wanted to establish the groundwork. This is the first ever time writing a fanfic so please any and all criticism is appreciated. So there's a couple of things I want to mention like the grim reapers quirks.
Their quirks are as follows: Eyepatch: Has heterochromia due to his quirk which plays into why he wears an eyepatch. To expose his one glaring red eye to strike fear into villains in the most literal sense. The drawback is that he needs to make direct eye contact and needs total concentration in order for the fear paralysis to kick in. Phantom's quirk makes her invisible to naked eye being extremely useful for surprise attacks; her drawback is she has a time limit to her invisibility. I wanted both of their quirks to work in Tandem and yes both are a couple. Just don't expect them to be major characters in the story;but their heroics and achievements will be talked about and play a huge role in Snow's character. Much as his parent's as well his father more so but his mother will definitely be playing a major role. Saori does have a quirk but it's a simple one creating rose petals. She was also a hero(A small time hero at that kinda like manual) and that's how she met Hayato but has since retired ever since Snow was born. To quickly go over the references, eyepatch is a reference to Kaneki's alias from tokyo ghoul,Aptos is a reference to sonic unleashed, I was debating either Aptos or Soleanna but went with Aptos. I want to use Soleanna at some point though. That's it for now. I hope you guys enjoyed and see you in the next chapter.
