Okay, before anyone asks or accuses me of such, I am going to tell you this:
NO. This is NOT a copycat version of Cowboy Alchemist's story "Godzilla: The Titan-Slayer of Fairy Tail", nor will I ever have the intention of doing so. I had this idea of a crossover for a long time now. It's only a coincidence that Cowboy Alchemist had the same idea and started a story of his own. My story however is going to be different, though I will admit you may eventually find a few of my ideas very similar to his.
Anyway, welcome readers, to my latest crossover between the Fairy Tail series and the Godzilla franchise; "Titan Slayer".
Like Cowboy Alchemist's fanfic, this story focuses on a new kind of slayer; one that I think you will enjoy very much.
Now, before you begin reading this chapter, I want you to read what I have to say down below (this also includes those who have read "Benjamin's Journal;" since I forgot to mentioned what I have to say there too):
This story is meant to be slow. Don't expect there to be many surprises in the first chapter or in other chapters here and there. But I do promise you, this is going to be a story that will keep you entertain and make you feel emotional as possible...
Now that that's out of the way, let's get right to it.
Here we go!
Legends.
Some are made.
Some are born.
They are both remembered.
Earthland is one world that carries this momentum. Throughout time, there have been names mentioned through history where they are received by many with gratitude, amazement, or simply impression. They are names that are remembered through years upon years across many generations. Ultimately, they are names that are never forgotten.
But what does it take for someone to become a legend?
That is a very good question.
It all depends on what they are or what they have done.
Legends in Earthland all reside on one thing: Ethernano.
Ethernano is a natural energy source that is commonly used by the people who live in this world. It helps them grow. It helps them thrive. It helps them survive. Most people, however, refer to this as Magic.
The use of Magic is what makes people on Earthland Legends, but the common norm that describes a Legend are people who carry a rare form of magic; a Lost Magic.
Magic can do many things, but Lost Magic is a rare sight. It allows users to perform spells that are not seen very well. It gives them abilities that they, and only they, can do. Again, it is a rare sight. More or less, it helps them understand who they really are.
Then there are the rare cases of Lost Magic; the kind of magic where people were taught by beings that once ruled the world, who believed that the only way for their legacy to survive was to pass their knowledge, strength, and power to those they saw were deemed worthy.
These people were known as the Slayers.
It feels ironic for those to be termed by this name, because none of them actually ever 'slayed' their teachers before. Also, and unfortunately, none of them are created equal.
First, there are the Demon Slayers. They are people who were taught of magic by the creatures of Hell. Though they are seen as the weakest by many, none should ever take heed for their incredible potential.
Next, there are the Dragon Slayers. They are people who were taught of magic by the creatures of the skies. In return, they are seen as strong, fast, ferocious, and ultimately, for a select few, unpredictable by many.
Then, there are the God Slayers. They are people who were taught of magic by beings above humanity. Because of their descant, those who gain this power are seen as... evolutionary.
All these beings, all these powerful and dangerous sentient creatures, walked the earth hundreds upon thousands of years ago. From gods to demons, every mortal of their kind wanted to dominate, to show their place in the world of Earthland, and to leave their mark on humanity.
They did just that and earned the role of Legends.
However...
None of these races were capable of creating Order.
Above all Demons...
Above all Dragons...
Above all Gods...
There was a collection of giant monsters that brought balance between the forces of creation and destruction, life and death; each with their own specific set of abilities, but were all nevertheless unbreakable toward those beneath them.
They were known as... the Titans.
Sadly, unlike the other sentient lifeforms that were mentioned, these Titans never really got the recognition they absolutely deserved. All of them were eventually forgotten in time, with only a small number of humanity still believing their existence to this day.
In addition to that, no one publicly knew if the existence of a fourth kind of Slayer was real.
Well, as the old saying goes,...
...nothing lasts forever.
Hargeon.
This was a town like any other seaside town; sprouting with tourism, commercial exchange, trading, sea goers, travelers, and most of all... humans.
More importantly, Hargeon was one of many epicenters of livelihood within the Kingdom of Fiore, and on a grander scale one of hundreds within the continent of Ishgar. Like anywhere else, this small seaside town follows a daily pattern that keeps the town... 'alive.' Each and every human who lives in this town carry out a routine that, as an end result, gives them the liability and betterment to their homes, their families, and their lives.
Some people lead a productive life and take on the responsibility of following the activities that their job provides.
Some people lead a constructive life, where they follow the duty to care for their family and friends.
Some people lead both of these lives and receive a mixture of responsibilities and benefits in return.
This town, Hargeon, is a classic, simple example of civilization; one where everyone is aware of its qualities.
But today, on July 3rd X784, this small seaside town was about to welcome a new guest.
No one was aware of his presence, but swimming up to the shores of Hargeon was a young man not older than 17 years. If someone were to notice, at first glance they wouldn't recognize any difference between him and themselves, and would likely guess that he was just taking a dive through the water to either relinquish the stress of the day or use the time as a casual hobby.
Actually, it was neither of those cases.
Spanning a few moments between now and then, the young man finally reached the shoreline of Hargeon and took his first steps on the warm sand. His now physical appearance was quite an eye catcher.
The young man had long black hair that went down to his knees, with rough tips of grey strands almost covering his eyes; his face sporting months of facial hair. His sun-colored eyes show a look of innocence, but also a look of curiosity.
His choice of wear only consisted of a grainy wool poncho that stretched all the way down to his bare feet; some people would think that there would be another set of clothing underneath, but this was all the boy had.
Now, if they were to learned about this, the boy's lack of clothing would set off a full list of accusations. However, when it comes to the boy, they would soon learn that he had a lack of decency.
Not that he was stupid; he just wouldn't be aware, because for the first time in his life, the young man was now witnessing humanity.
"So, this is civilization," the boy said, as he begins looking at the strange structures and humans before him, the sea water dripping from his hair and sticking to his poncho, "It has so many... colors."
The man's eyes were now filled with more curiosity, and now also confusion.
Since this was his first time seeing humanity, this was also his first time seeing things that he was not used to.
First off, the young man notice here and there the opposite gender of humanity. Throughout his life, until now, the boy never met someone who had,... i-in his point of view, large mounds to their chests, as well as thinner figures. The boy wondered why those certain humans looked like the way they did. He would have to ask one of them about it.
Next were the large mostly squared structures. The young man notice that each of these structures include a rectangular... thing that created an opening at the bottom of the structure, as well as squared reflections next to or above the opening. However, the most confusing bit was that each structure had a different design. He wondered what they were exactly.
The third anomaly that stood out to the boy were these weird shaped objects, both large and small, that floated on the water. Thus far, this was the most amazing thing that the boy saw, especially when he then notice some of these objects carried humans. To think that all his time traveling across the oceans, he would be able to learn that civilization was capable of committing a similar feat.
Lastly, the boy notice all the miscellaneous activities the humans were currently doing. One of them to his right was talking to someone else, while picking out a fruit from a crate filled with the same fruit. Several of them to his left were on one of the floating objects hoisting a large spider-web like thread filled with fish. One in front of him was allowing an animal, which the boy never seen beforehand, move a different weirdly shaped object across the cobblestone. These were only a few examples, and yet the young man was amazed by the works of civilization.
The boy gasped in awe at the sight of Hargeon, at all the things he was introduced with his own eyes; and yet he still felt that there was more to the town than he could see.
His instincts agreed with him all the way.
"Hey, kid! Where'd you come from?"
The boy's thoughts were broken when he heard the voice of an older man.
He turn to his right and saw a man with black hair (along with a mustache) and eyes, while wearing a blue cap, a green cape, a white shirt, and a pair of dark pants and shoes, standing on a wooden pier.
The boy didn't answer at first, as he instead looks around to see if there was anyone else the man was referring to. Seeing that there wasn't, the boy then pointed to himself. "Yes! I'm talking to you, kid!" the man said in a patient manner, "Where did you come from? From what you're wearing, you don't seem to be around here."
The boy was hesitant at answering first, until his instincts told him that the man was no threat. The boy finally said, "Me come from somewhere far away. Do not know how far away, but home is far from here."
The man was a bit taken back by how the boy spoke. The boy's choice of words were not filled out; for a moment, the man wondered why so. Ultimately, the man didn't pry the boy about it. Instead, he asked, "What are you doing here?"
"Me want to know more about civilization," the boy shortly answered.
The man raise an eyebrow at the boy's response. Again, the boy's words were very vague. Luckily, this time the man's had a sense of what the boy was trying to say. "...I think I understand what you're trying to say, kid," the man said, before grinning, "Well, in any case, welcome to Hargeon. This town is filled with people who would happily give the information you need. But, if you want to get a more general sense of where you are, why not go check out the town's library?"
Li-bra-ry..., the boy slowly repeated what the man mentioned. From what the man said, the boy can figure that this 'library' was a place; though he never heard about it before. Nevertheless, this brought more curiosity to the boy's instincts. "Where can me find this library?" the boy asked.
"From here, it's pretty easy actually," the man begins before pointing his finger toward an open intersection behind him, "See that opening over there? Head straight through it and continue on that path. It may be a bit of a walk, but on your left you'll eventually see a large building sticking out over the others. That will be the town's library; you can't miss it."
"So, that is what those structures are," the boy quietly took note of what the man said. In addition, he can feel his instincts tell him that the man was telling the truth; and so, after he nods with determination, the boy began heading toward that direction. "Thank you!" the boy called out to the man.
The man couldn't help but smile at the boy's gratitude; he was sure he did a good deed today.
However, even as he watched the boy's figure disappear within the busy street, the man couldn't help but wonder who that kid really was.
Meanwhile...
"What!? You're telling me this is the only magic shop in this town!?"
"I'm afraid so, young lady. You see, Hargeon is mainly a spot for tourism, while the people who live here are more efficient than they are accustom to magic. In fact, most people here don't even know how to use magic. I built this shop for wizards who happen to be passing through."
" *sigh* Man, I can't believe I came out all this way for nothing," the blonde girl sighed in disappointment.
Now, for those who do know the story behind this, then you should know what is going to happen next.
For those who don't,... well...
...let's just say that she was about to have an important role to this story.
Meanwhile... Again.
"Come on, Natsu. We made it to Hargeon, so you gotta get up."
"Just.. g-give me a second. I-I need to.. get my-mmphf!"
"Excuse me; is your friend gonna be okay?"
"Aye. Whether it's on a boat, train, or wagon, he always gets like this."
"Uuugghh... I hate trains," the pink haired young man groaned.
Now, for those who do know the story behind this, then you should know what is going to happen next.
For those who don't,... well...
...let's just say that he, and his best friend, were about to have an important role to this story.
Back to it...
"Thank you! Come again!" the black haired boy heard the receptionist say, as he exited through the front doors of the town's library.
It was not too long ago when the boy arrived at the huge nearly flat-looking wooden building that he presumed was the 'library;' he was a bit stupefied by how it actually sticked out from the rest of the street. Then again, he did shortly recalled the man he met at the docks describe the 'library' this way.
He released a much bigger reaction when he went inside. The boy found himself staring at the dozens upon dozens of tight packed pieces of paper; he did overhear one of the visitors inside say they were 'books.' Luckily, while he was a bit confused by the design, his instincts did gave him a sense of familiarity, especially when he first open one of these 'books.'
The boy was glad that humanity had followed a method that he learned during his younger years: Words on an object. Even so, it did took him some time to recognize the kind of information he was reading, as well as the books that he was primarily searching for; he required some help with that.
"So much knowledge," the boy spoke aloud. In the end, the boy couldn't help but feel amazed by how much information the town's library carried, and he also couldn't help but wonder what else Hargeon hold in store for him.
The boy's smile turn into a frown and his eyebrows dip.
"Father; why have you never told me?" the boy muttered.
Suddenly, the boy's nose picked up a strong scent.
The boy hum in question and his instincts shift toward the tenacity of the scent. His nostrils expanded, as the boy begins sniffing toward its direction. From what he can think of, the boy felt the scent was very potent... and strangely raw.
This scent peaked the boy's interest; he wondered where was it coming from and why it smelled this way. In addition, his instincts gave him a small sense of caution, but it wasn't enough for the boy to permit that this was a threat... yet.
From the boy's experience, he knew it was possible for that sense of caution to rise. So, without a moment of hesitation, the boy began walking toward the source of the scent.
He would admit, it was a bit difficult for him to get closer to the source; Hargeon was still uncharted territory. But eventually, the boy found what he was looking for.
Safe to say, the sight was rather... interesting.
Now standing before him was a large group of humans, mainly the other type of humanity he was still unfamiliar with, surrounding... something that he wasn't able to see in his point of view. Nevertheless, the boy's nose still picked up the scent, which was much stronger than before. Additionally, many of the humans surrounding the source were cheering for some reason...
The boy wondered what was going on. He never witness anything particularly like this until now. To him, the only thing he could relate to this was that one time he saw a herd of tigers trying to claim dominance over some food.
...Strangely, his instincts now tell him to not think on that further, to which he complied.
Still, the boy wanted to know why and how this was happening. Perhaps me should ask one of them?, the boy thought to himself. Nodding silently, the boy walks up to the nearest human in the group...
...which happen to be the blonde girl from earlier.
"Excuse me; can you tell me what is going on?" the boy called out to her.
Unfortunately, the boy didn't receive an answer from the girl, making the former lower his eyebrows. Perhaps she did not hear me, the boy thought.
Wanting to take a direct approach, the boy this time tap the girl's left shoulder, while saying, "Excuse me; can me ask you what is happening right now?"
Not known to him at the moment, but when he touched the girl, a dangerous attracting spell that took hold of her mind and body suddenly broke free. The girl was thrust back into reality and found herself standing within the midst of the large group of girls. She then heard someone's voice and turn to where it came from; finding the boy now staring at her. "H-Huh?" the girl blurted out.
The boy, while aware by how the girl answered his question, now notice the dumbfound look on her face. The boy tilt his head down sideways to get a better look at the girl and said, "Are you okay?"
The girl blinked at the boy's question. However, what she was more focused on was his presence. The last thing she can clearly remember was arriving at the scene to see the famous Salamander with her own eyes. When she first laid her eyes on the suspected man, that was when everything slowly started to cloud up. Thankfully, with her knowledge, the girl was aware of what kind of spell she was put under.
However, before she was able to answer the boy...
"Igneel! Igneel; there you are!"
...a third voice entered the fray.
Turning to where this particular voice came from, the blonde girl and the black haired boy notice a pink haired boy walking through the group of girls and approaching the suspected Salamander. As they both did so, they notice the atmosphere grow quiet and the pink haired boy's positive attitude shift to a confusing expression.
Additionally, the black haired boy was now able recognize the source of the scent. This smell is coming from a human?, he thought. He can feel no doubt from his instincts, which brought even more confusion. Must be something else about civilization, the boy thought again.
"Who the heck are you?" the pink haired boy asked.
"Who am I?" the Salamander staggered a bit by the former's reaction. The man quickly regained his composure, brought his hand up to his chin, and posed, "Would you smile if I said 'Salamander'?"
That smile never came.
What the Salamander actually got in response, much to his surprise, was the pink haired boy walking away.
Surprisingly, the black haired boy was a bit taken aback by this as well. He also expected the pink haired boy to answer the man; not simply walk away. He wasn't sure why he did so, but his instincts nevertheless gave him the sense of rudeness.
The black haired boy was about to call out toward the pink haired boy, if it weren't for the results that followed.
The black haired boy was now even more surprised when a bunch of the girls suddenly attack the pink haired boy. W-Why are they hurting him?, he thought, startled.
He then notice the man calming the girls down, followed by him trying to reconcile with the pink haired boy by giving him a squared piece of wood with words on it.
To which the boy declined...
...and resulted in the girls attacking him again.
That time was not necessary, the black haired boy thought, while lowering his eyebrows in annoyance. The boy sure knew what the guy did was wrong, but he didn't think it was necessary for the girls to attack him, especially during the second time around.
Wait..., the boy suddenly picked up the smell again, but this time he notice the scent traversing around the other humans; he was still aware the source was on the man, but he now wondered why was this scent covering the girls. He then turn back to the blonde girl. Thinking of it, me am sure this scent was on the human me touched before... ...Now it is not there... Hmmmm...
The black haired boy's sense of caution was starting to grow.
"Now, now, ladies; let's not be too feisty," the Salamander reaffirmed the girls, "I would love to stay and talk to you more, but I believe my time is up."
All at once, with the exception of the blonde one, the girls turn back toward the man and whined, "Aw~ You're leaving already!?"
What the Salamander did next replaced the black haired boy's face with shock.
With the tap of his fingers, purple fire erupted underneath the man's feet, which it then hoist him into the air. "Don't worry, everyone. I'll be having a party on my yacht tonight, and you're all invited!" With that, just as the last words came out of his mouth, the fire underneath the Salamander pushed him pass the girls and over the buildings above.
The black haired boy couldn't help but be amazed by the man's stunt, even as he continued watching the man's form disappear from his view. He also was given a strange sense of familiarity. The human was using Ethernano, the boy summarized. Up until now, the only people capable of using Ethernano were his father and himself. Civilization is so vast..., the boy thought.
"Oh, I should be thanking you too!"
The black haired boy's thoughts were halted by the blonde girl's voice. He turn from the sky and to his left; seeing her standing in front of him, with the pink haired boy and a blue... animal he was also unfamiliar with standing behind the girl.
"You really saved me there," the girl continued, while smiling, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't know what that scum would've done to me. I'm Lucy, by the way. What's your name?"
The black haired boy blink at the girl's words, more specifically toward her question. He wasn't really sure what he did that helped protect this human, but his instincts nonetheless told him to be thankful for what he's done... even though he was confused on it. Still, he was more confused on the girl's last word. "..Name?" the boy slowly replied.
It was now the girl's turn to blink. Her smile dim a little at the boy's answer, while a small amount of confusion covered her face. "Uh... Yah; y'know, your name," the girl place her hand on her chest, "My name is Lucy," she then motion her hand toward him, "What's yours?"
The black haired boy thought further on the girl's choice of words.
Suddenly, he felt his instincts bring him back to a memory many years ago; to a time when he had a conversation with his father. The boy couldn't remember all the details, but his instincts recalled him hearing his father say the exact same word; 'Name.'
With understanding filling his eyes, with the addition of a slow nod, the boy followed by introducing himself with a small smile.
"Gareth Zillion."
Gareth was astounded by how much food Natsu consumed, which is the name of the pink haired boy he was introduced to a short time ago. Then again, his instincts reminded him that his father had at times consumed an even bigger amount.
Frankly, it wasn't long after he introduced himself to Lucy, Natsu, and Happy, which was the name of the blue cat (which was the name of the animal the latter described himself as).
After introductions, Lucy invited them over for lunch. Gareth wasn't really aware of the term, but with the growl coming from his stomach, he predict that it had something to do with food, and he was right.
Now, after traveling to a building he learned was a 'restaurant', Gareth was chewing on a large amount of meat on a bone, while getting a glance of Natsu's large consumption from time to time.
"Now lets just slow down. There's no need for you to eat that much food at such a short rate," Gareth overheard Lucy, who was sitting next to him, attempting to convince Natsu; failing miserably.
Hmm, even this human has the same idea, Gareth thought, as he took another bite.
Seeing that he wasn't gonna slow down either, Lucy changed topic, "So anyway, that Salamander guy was using a Charm spell, which is a type of Hypnosis spell. That kind of magic can attract anyone to you, and because of its potential that spell has been banned many years ago. I can't believe he would use something illegal to get himself popular; what an idiot!"
While it seemed Natsu and Happy slightly took this information in hand, Gareth took it in fully. "Magic?" he questioned, looking at Lucy, "That is Ethernano, right?"
"Mmhmm," Lucy hummed, while nodding.
This explanation just made all the more sense to Gareth. The scent that he smelled from the Salamander was another form of Ethernano; this one being a bad type from what Lucy described it. He had learned from his father that Ethernano can come in many shapes and forms... and can be used through any possible means. For Gareth to witness someone use Ethernano to control someone's mind, he honestly wasn't that surprised.
But he did lose all respect for the guy.
"Thanks to you two, I was able to break free, so bringing you all here is my way of showing my gratitude," Lucy smiled.
"I see," Natsu replied, food still in his mouth, before placing more food in.
Gareth couldn't help but smile at Lucy's show of positivity. Before he arrived here, he had imagined that he would meet humans that show the innocence and clarity like he does. He almost felt lucky to meet someone like her so soon.
"I may not look like it, but I'm a wizard as well," Lucy continued.
"That so?" Natsu added in.
"But I don't have any affiliations with a guild yet," Lucy added.
Gareth was again taken aback by these new words: 'Wizard' and 'Guild.'
Gareth can kinda relate to what the word 'Wizard' meant; from what he saw from the 'Salamander,' he can conclude that the man's use of Ethernano made him a 'Wizard.' What can Lucy do?, he wondered.
As for the word 'Guild', Gareth was completely thrown off. But thankfully, he wouldn't have to ask.
"Perhaps I should explain what a guild is. You see, a guild is a place where wizards gather to take on jobs and earn jewels, while also allowing members to hone and train their magic or individual skills. However, you can't be considered a full pledged wizard if you're not a member of a guild. There are so many guilds around the world, and it's actually really hard to get into the popular ones," Lucy explained, as she continued on gibbering over her admiration of guilds, especially the one she wanted to join.
...But what was said up above was enough for Gareth to somewhat have an idea as to what Lucy was explaining to him. When she mentioned the words 'jobs' and 'train', Gareth can remember the times his father tasked him to do things, if it were related to their survival or to his time training in the use of his father's Ethernano. But he was overall confused by the layout of guilds; he didn't feel his time home went exactly as how guilds worked. Nevertheless, the way Lucy described it gave his instincts the sense of importance; like it played a huge role in civilization.
As he thought about it more, all the information Lucy has given so far was really helpful. Gareth did expect there to be some bad parts within civilization, but he never realize there was something to counteract this. This makes him feel that civilization still has a lot more to offer. With what she has given, Lucy may know more, Gareth thought, Me should ask Lucy.
"By the way, I did overhear you two say you were looking for someone," Lucy change topic yet again.
"Aye! We were looking for Igneel!" Happy answered.
Gareth's thoughts were broken once more by the mentioning of Igneel. Just like Lucy, he had overheard Natsu say this name, and Gareth wondered who was he referring to.
"We'd heard that a salamander was in Hargeon, and we thought it was a good idea to take a look. Unfortunately, it was someone else," Natsu explained, as he took another bite out of his food.
"He didn't really look like a salamander, Natsu," Happy exclaimed.
"Well, they are dragons, so I thought he would be Igneel," Natsu slightly complained.
"What kind of human looks like a dragon?" Lucy sweat dropped.
Both Natsu and Happy look back at Lucy, both seeing the ire confusion on her face. "No, you got it all wrong," Natsu open up, "Igneel's not a human. He's an actual dragon."
"You were raised by a dragon?" Gareth said aloud, his voice filled with surprise, while Lucy was in shock by this revelation... which was then add on to by Gareth's comment.
Natsu and Happy then shift focus on the boy, who has now finished his meal. "How did you know he was raised by one?" Happy said, his voice filled with a little surprise.
"Father told me stories on dragons and other beasts that once walked the world, even stories on how they took humans as the next in kin. Since you said you were looking for a dragon Natsu, my instincts assume this Igneel was the one who took care of you," Gareth explained. He was not wrong. Throughout his childhood, there were times where his father told him stories on beasts he had encountered before, including dragons. It amazed him that he would meet someone under this heritage so soon.
Thinking of it, salamanders and dragons are lizards... and Father is a lizard too, Gareth thought, Is Father related to dragons?
Lucy was surprised by how Gareth was able develop such a cool hypothesis. She would admit that she had read books on dragons before, but she never heard any stories saying about dragons raising humans as their own. However, there was also the way how Gareth sum it all up. What did he mean by 'instincts'?, she thought.
Suddenly, Natsu slam his hands on the table and move his upper body toward Gareth, "Have you ever seen a dragon before!?"
Gareth could feel his instincts flare up for a moment by Natsu's sudden movement, though ultimately they did tell him that he was in no danger. "Me never met dragon before," he simply answered.
Gareth can now see the disappointment forming on Natsu's face, as he then watches him sit back down on his seat. The black haired boy did expect there to be some reaction from Natsu, but Gareth was a bit concern by how he expressed it. ...Did something happen to the dragons?, Gareth thought.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on!" Lucy quickly jumped in, "How can a dragon be in this town!? He would never fit in!"
Both Natsu and Happy gasped; their faces shell shocked by the realization.
"You both just realized that!?" Lucy reacted.
Unknown to all of them, Gareth too realized that. He had known that dragons were big creatures, so of course it wouldn't be possible for them to live here in Hargeon, or any other town for that matter. But as he compared them to the size of his father...
...At this point, he was embarrassed.
"It explains things. Me not sure how it would work," Gareth added, a slight blush barely noticeable on his cheeks. He then turns to Lucy, "Question, Lucy."
"Hmm?" said blonde girl turn back the black haired boy.
"You seem to know much about civilization. Is it okay if you show me more on this place?" Gareth asked.
Civilization?, Lucy was confused by how Gareth word his question. She, as well as Natsu and Happy, wasn't really sure what he was talking about. "Why do you want to know more about Hargeon? Aren't you from here, Gareth?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
Gareth shook his head, "No. Me just arrived here by ocean. Me would like to... understand."
The others were confused again, but this time they got an idea on what Gareth was saying. They believed Gareth was a newcomer to Fiore, and must've traveled here from a distant place by boat. Because of this, they believed he was unaware of his surroundings and wanted someone to guide him.
"To be honest, I'm also new around here," Lucy smiled, "But since your more unfamiliar with this town, I can at least show you where I've been to before, and maybe I can show you places that I plan to go to."
Gareth's instincts took her words as a way of acceptance, and, in return, the boy smiled, "Thank you."
With a plan in mind, Lucy placed a small stack of money on the restaurant's table, as she said to Natsu and Happy, "Anyway, it was nice knowing you two, but we now have to get going. Take care!"
Lucy then grabbed her bag, shift out of her seat, and begins walking toward the front door, with Gareth in tow.
But they didn't get far.
Noticing the odd reaction from the receptionist, Lucy and Gareth turn back around and saw Natsu and Happy kneeling their heads down toward the floorboards, "Thank you for the food!"
Lucy was taken back by this dramatization of gratitude, while Gareth just stood there confused once more. "Stop that! You're embarrassing me!" Lucy shouted back, before squirming, "Look, it's fine. You two saved me, and I payed you back; so we're even."
"But, we really didn't do anything," Natsu answered, as he looks at Happy.
"Aye. We didn't deserve this," Happy added; making Lucy facepalm.
Me pretty sure you did do something, Gareth thought.
Suddenly, an idea popped in Natsu's head, "I got it!" With a swipe from his pant's pocket, he handed Lucy over Salamander's autograph, "You can have this!"
"NO WAY!" Lucy shouted.
At that moment, Gareth wasn't sure if he was amused or even more confused.
"Thank you for your guidance, Lucy. This has been a big help for me," Gareth smiled at the girl, as she began reading the recent issue of Sorcerer Magazine.
"No problem, Gareth. I'm happy to do it anytime," Lucy replied, momentarily looking at him.
It had been a few hours since Gareth and Lucy separated from Natsu and Happy, and like what Gareth requested, Lucy gave him a tour around much of Hargeon. During his time with her, Gareth was able to witness and experience attractions he hasn't seen before; a few that actually stood out to him.
First off, they went back to the magic shop that Lucy visited earlier. Apparently to Gareth, since Ethernano was popularly used in civilization, humans all across the land set up buildings that sold artifacts and Ethernano objects reliable to wizards. Additionally, it was where Gareth learned the concept of Jewels. Unlike home, in order to get something, you have to trade this round piece of gold or a squared piece of green linen known as 'Paper.' That was not all; each item carried in a magic shop, or in any other similar building, varies in the amount of Jewels.
While Gareth was fascinated by all the Ethernano knick knacks in the magic shop, he felt the concept of Jewels was very complicated; but he wasn't completely lost on that subject. Lucy however was not really affected by his reaction; she believed the 'currency' from where he came from was different.
Next, they went to the knights headquarters. This was where Gareth was introduced to the concept of 'Law.' Apparently, in order for civilization to thrive and prosper, there must be a set of rules. These rules must be abide by to keep the peace in a stable condition; otherwise, there would be chaos and anarchy. Gareth didn't know what those words meant, but his instincts told him they weren't good at all. However, if there were those who still intend to break those rules, then they will be punished; that was why these 'Knights' were stationed in Hargeon, as well as other towns throughout the land.
Unlike the first concept, this one was much easier for Gareth to understand. He remembered times where his father told him what to do and what not to do; the concept of 'Law' was similar to that. Unfortunately, Gareth really didn't know if this concept was exactly the same, so he needed to be careful on his choice of actions here.
Finally, the head towards the town's park. Here, Gareth found the sense of reminiscence. Aside from the human structures, 'benches', and cobblestone pathways, the natural smell Gareth received felt like he was back home... to a certain extent. Other than that, he felt more respect toward humanity.
Now, he and Lucy were sitting on one of the many benches in the park; both relaxing after a long day.
Civilization is so different than home, Gareth thought, as he looks back at the blonde human, It is like the days with me and father, but more... specific. Me would not have got this far if not for Lucy. Would have been lost or in trouble.
It was then that another thought popped up. All his time in Hargeon thus far, he never got the chance to know why there were certain humans here and there who looked... very curvy than others; this included the one sitting next to him. Think it is time for me to finally know, Gareth thought.
"Lucy; another question," Gareth started.
"Yes?" Lucy replied, looking back at him once more.
"What are you exactly?" Gareth asked.
Lucy blinked at the odd question, as she didn't expect him to say such a thing. Her lips form a straight line and her left eyebrow arched up, "Come again?"
Gareth's instincts sensed her confusion. "Let me start over," he began, before momentarily thinking about what he should say next. Deciding, he then pointed towards her body, "Why is your chest so... out there?"
"WHOA!" Lucy shouted, as she immediately form a tight grip over her breasts with her arms and the magazine; a huge massive blush appearing on her cheeks, "Okay, what's the big idea!?"
The blonde girl's reaction also immediately flared up Gareth's instincts, making him raise his open hands up to the sides of his face and widen his eyes, "Me sorry; never intended on making you not comfortable."
"Then why did you have to say it like that!?" Lucy glared.
"It is just... me has never met someone like you before," Gareth replied.
There was a long silence between the two, as the boy waited for the girl to respond once more. Thankfully, no one else was around to hear this sudden, awkward conversation.
Finally Lucy respond, as her grip over her chest and her glare loosen a little, "What do you mean?"
Gareth released a deep breath through his nose, place his hands down, and looks away up to the sky, "Before my arrival, the only human me ever knew was myself. Me expected civilization to have many, many humans, but did not expect to see humans such as you," he then turns back to Lucy, "Not that there is anything wrong with you. Me just... confused is all."
"...Are you saying you never actually met a girl before?" Lucy hesitantly asked him.
So that is what Lucy is, Gareth thought. He then followed by shaking his head toward her.
Just like that, all the beliefs Lucy had on Gareth were washed away. As she moved her arms down to her side, and her glare evaporating, her thoughts on the young man were replaced with many questions.
"No offense Gareth, but... where did you come from exactly?" Lucy asked, her eyes now examining the man's face.
"On an island; far away," Gareth simply answered.
Well, that explains his looks, Lucy sweat drops a little. "Then, how did you get here?" she then lowered her eyebrows.
"I swam here," Gareth simply answered again.
Her eyebrows now rosed, "All the way here?"
Gareth nods, "Yes... Thinking of it, me sure it took several hours to get here."
This recent comment made Lucy label Gareth down to two scenarios; either he was a really, really good and fast swimmer... ...or he is a wizard, Lucy thought. Honestly, she was leaning more towards the latter.
"Why did you come here, Gareth?" Lucy asked once more.
She didn't expect the deep, longing look in the young man's eyes. Now, Lucy is a young innocent woman. She has a usual life where some things were unpleasant, while most of which were. She has done things where she knew was right, and she has done things which she would later on admit were mistakes. She also has met people who she considered good, and people who she considered bad.
Lucy is a normal, ordinary girl who is also not perfect; just like everyone else.
But today, Gareth Zillion would be the most bizarre human being she would ever meet, because what he was about to say next would prove it all.
"Me looking for Father," Gareth finally answered.
"...Please don't tell me your dad is a dragon," Lucy slowly deadpanned.
Gareth chuckled at her comment, while shaking his head, "No, no, Father is no dragon... He is more than that."
"Your father's a God!?" Lucy widen her eyes...
...which quickly was reduced when Gareth shook his head once more, "No. More than that."
"What can be more than a god?" Lucy asked; confused yet again, she tried desperately to think up of anything that can be seen better than a God.
But Gareth gave her the answer, by saying, "Have you ever heard the tale of the Titans?"
I did say that this story is going to be slow-paced. So for those who expected the entirety of the first episode of the anime to be in the first chapter, then I do apologize for that; you're gonna have to wait for the first fights next chapter.
This chapter is mainly about the introduction of the Titans, as well as my version of the Titan Slayer under Godzilla: Gareth Zillion. Now, you may think his dialogue is filled with grammatical errors. Actually, that is part of his character. There is a reason as to why he speaks like this, and that reason will be revealed down the road, so please do NOT relate his dialogue to other notable characters, such as Jar Jar Binks for example.
Anyway, I hope you like this chapter; leave a review if you did. Next chapter will definitely include action; a LOT of action!
Lastly, I hope to see you all on the next chapter of the Fairy Tail x Godzilla crossover; "Titan Slayer!"
Stay safe out there, everyone.
