Staying Together Through Every Journey
Chapter 1
Leo smiled as he waited for Emma to get ready for their date. After Balan had adopted them and they had been living with him for a year, the two had realized how much they cared for each other and the boy was now taking the girl on the date he had asked her about at the party.
Balan, who was passing by with a few Tims, smiled at his son. "Everything alright, Leo?" He asked.
The boy nodded. "Just waiting for Emma to get ready, Dad," he said. "I'm taking her to Attilio's amusement park."
"Ah, that's what he meant by he would be having a couple VIP guests there tonight," the tall being said with a smile.
Leo shrugged a bit bashfully. "I told him he didn't have to do that, but he insisted and well...I just couldn't say no after he insisted."
Balan chuckled, ruffling his son's hair playfully. Just then, the door to Emma's bedroom opened and she came out with a smile. She wore a green dress that matched her eyes and her blue jean jacket while black flats were on her feet and she had her purse at her left side with the strap crossing from her right shoulder to her left side. "Sorry I took so long," she said sheepishly. "I couldn't decide on a dress."
The blue-eyed boy's eyes widened at seeing her and he smiled. "You look great, Emma," he said, glad he had worn his best blue jeans and a light blue buttoned shirt and black shoes.
The girl blushed, but smiled. Balan smiled as well before kneeling down to be level with his children. "Have fun, my dears, and be careful out there," he said.
"We will, Dad," Emma promised.
"What time do you want us back, Dad?" Leo asked.
The maestro smiled. "Since it is a weekend and Attilio is letting you two have the park to yourselves, your curfew is one o'clock tomorrow morning," he said. "I'll be up waiting for you two."
"Okay, Dad," the teenage girl said.
Balan nodded and looked at his son. "Leo, I trust you will be a gentleman to Emma tonight?" He said.
"I will, Dad. I promise," the teenage boy said, knowing that Balan did trust him, but he was also just gently reminding him too.
The tall being nodded. "Alright, let's get you both to the train."
As Balan led them to the station platform, Emma and Leo held hands, excited about their first date. "We have to remember to thank Attilio for allowing us to have the park to ourselves," the girl said.
"We will," the boy promised.
They soon made it and Balan saw them onto the train. "Have fun, my dears," he said, giving them both hugs, which they returned. "I'll see you both later."
"Bye, Dad," Emma said.
"See you later, Dad," Leo said before the tall being headed out and the train headed for the amusement park. Attilio met them at the entrance and he smiled at them.
"Hello, you two," he said. "Enjoy yourselves and don't hesitate to call me for anything."
"We will and thank you so much, Attilio," Emma said.
"It really is kind of you to do this for me and Emma," Leo said.
"I'm more than happy to do so," the clown man said before gesturing to the open gate. "Go on now. The park awaits."
Grinning, the two headed in, deciding to go on the rides first. "What ride do you want to do first, Emma?" Leo asked.
"How about Bumper Cars first?" She suggested.
He grinned and they were soon laughing as they chased each other playfully with the bumper cars before going onto the rollercoaster. Emma squealed in surprise and laughter as the rushing wind made her hair fly all over the place and Leo's hair fared no better as he laughed too.
By the time they got off the rollercoaster, they were giggling nonstop and trying to smooth their hair down, a nearby fun house mirror making them laugh again as they saw how silly they looked. "That was fun!" Emma said as her hair finally smoothed down.
"Totally," Leo said as he smoothed his hair down too.
"How about you pick the next ride, Leo?" The girl said.
"You sure?" He asked.
She nodded and he decided to select the swan ride, which was a ride where the riders sat in a giant swan and it would glide gently over the lake. Emma smiled at him as he helped her into the ride and he stepped in behind her before they sat down and the ride started.
Emma looked up to see the first-quarter moon was in the sky and the stars were bright too as the lights of the carnival faded away briefly as the ride moved away from it all to give the two a better view of the night sky. "It's so amazing," she said.
Leo smiled and nodded. "Yeah," he said, gazing up at the stars too before looking at Emma as he noticed she hugged herself a bit. "You okay?"
"Yes, just a little cold," she admitted.
He placed an arm around her, letting her lean against him. "There you go," he said with another smile.
She smiled at his thoughtfulness and they sat in comfortable silence as the ride continued until the end and they got up, deciding to grab some food. The menus had fried dough, hot dogs, ice cream, and all other kinds of wonderful foods. Placing their order, they waited until it was ready before sitting down to enjoy their food.
Leo smiled. "Are you having fun, Emma?" He asked.
"Yes, Leo," she said. "Do you think we could go on the ferris wheel before we head back home?"
"Sure," he said as he checked the time and noticed it was ten o'clock. "We still have a few hours."
After eating their food, they went for a walk, playing a few games and winning some neat prizes before going on the swings and the G-Force spaceship, which they enjoyed and thankfully didn't get too dizzy on.
After a few more rides, Leo saw it was almost midnight. "How about that ferris wheel now?" He suggested. "It's almost midnight."
Emma nodded and as the ride carried them to the top where they could see everything, fireworks began appearing in the sky and created a spectacular show for the two.
After the ride ended, Leo decided to do something. "Emma, I have something to tell you," he said.
"Yes, Leo?" She asked.
He took a deep breath and took both her hands into his. "I promise you, no matter what, I'll never leave you," he said. "I'll always be with you forever. Never to be separated."
Emma smiled before gently squeezing Leo's hands. "And I promise you that I will never leave you," she said. "I'll also be with you forever. Never to be separated."
They smiled at each other before heading to the station platform to wait for the train, which arrived moments later and they got on board, heading for home.
Balan was in the living room reading when he heard the doors open and he glanced up at the time, seeing it was a few minutes before one o'clock and he smiled, turning his head to greet his children as they came in. "Hello, you two," he said.
"Hey, Dad," Leo said.
"Did you two have fun at the amusement park?"
"We did," Emma said, smiling before covering her mouth as a yawn escaped her. Leo tried to stifle a yawn, but couldn't, making Balan chuckle.
"Come here, my dears," he said, getting up and in five minutes, he had turned one of the couches into a bed for the two. Sleepily, the two teens removed their shoes and settled down on the couch together as Balan tucked them in, placing a fatherly kiss on their foreheads. "Goodnight, my little stars. I love you," he said, brushing his hand gently over their heads.
"Night, Dad. Love you too," Leo said sleepily.
"Night, Dad. Love...you too," Emma said, a yawn interrupting her before both teens fell sound asleep and Balan made sure the room was warm and that the two would be warm for the night before heading to bed himself, glad the first date for both Emma and Leo had gone so well.
And here it begins. :)
