Late at night, cop cars surround a bank as there is a hostage situation inside. Terrorists are holding those inside the bank hostage for their cause since it was daylight. Elisa and Athena arrive at the scene and walk over to Matt before ducking behind a cop car with him. Three large lights shined at a window on the seventh floor of the building.
"This has gone on all day. We should go in," Matt said to Elisa and Athena.
"Uh-uh. They got confirmed IDs on the hostages," Elisa told him.
"Captain Chavez says to keep trying. They have to give up soon," Athena said.
Matt stood up and spoke through a blowhorn, "It's getting late. Tired people make mistakes. Let's stop right here before somebody gets hurt."
A female terrorist smashes a window with the butt of her gun, "We will never give in. Our cause is worth any sacrifice."
The terrorist then shoots at the hood of a few cop cars below. Matt, Elisa, Athena, and a uniformed cop ran away when the female terrorist shot the car they were hiding behind. Matt, Elisa, and Athena duck behind another vehicle.
"Think they're starting to see it our way?" Matt asked.
Athena looked up at the night sky and saw the silhouettes of the gargoyles and Etrigan created by the moon's light, "Not yet, but they will."
Inside the building, five people are being held hostage: A man, Brendan, a woman, Margot, and three little girls. The three girls wore the same outfit but had different hair colors. Luna had white hair, Seline had black, and Pheobe was blonde. Five terrorists were holding them hostage: A woman and four men. And the female terrorists was the one in charge.
"What are you gonna do to us?" Brendan asked.
"If our demands are met, nothing. If not..." The female terrorist answered.
"Please, just let us go," Margot pleaded.
"It'll be over soon," Phoebe said.
As if on cue, Goliath bursts through the wall behind one of the male terrorists. The male terrorist turns and points his gun at Goliath, but the gargoyle grabs the gun and breaks it in half as his eyes glow with rage. The terrorist tries to flee, but Goliath grabs him before throwing him against the wall, knocking him unconscious.
"It-it's a monster!" Brendan cried.
"Shoot it," The female terrorist ordered.
The terrorists fired at Goliath, but he quickly dodged their attack. When the terrorists thought they had cornered Goliath, the rest of the Manhatten Clan and Etrigan burst through the ceiling. Lexington, Brooklyn, and Broadway landed on the male terrorists, and Etrigan stood behind them.
The female terrorist runs into the giant vault and tries to close it, but Goliath grabs the door and pulls it open. Etrigan stands beside his father-in-law, and the two's eyes glow with rage.
"Stay back," The female terrorist told them before Etrigran grabbed her gun and crushed it into a ball. The female terrorist fell down as she backed away, "Don't hurt me."
"You have more to fear from your own cowardice than from us," Goliath told her.
Meanwhile, outside the vault, the others trapped each of the male terrorists in sacks. And a rope was wrapped around each of the terrorists' arms.
"Relax, folks. You're safe now," Lexington said as he walked to the hostages.
"Get away!" Brendan exclaimed as he used Margot as a human shield.
"Don't come near me," Margot told the gargoyles.
"Don't gush all over us, OK? It's kind of embarrassing," Brooklyn said.
A moment later, Goliath and Etrigan walked out of the vault. Goliath holds the female terrorist in the air by the back of her shirt. He drops her next to the other terrorists.
"We will go now. The police can deal with them," Goliath told the others of his clan before walking away.
"The cause is everything until her own life is threatened," Seline told Goliath, "Still, it's good that you saved her.
"If you forgot what she's forgotten, that every life is precious, then you'll be no different from her," Phoebe informed him.
"I'll never be like this terrorist," Goliath told the little girls as he looked and gestured toward the criminals he and his clan dealt with.
"We were not talking about this terrorist," Luna stated.
There was a sudden gust of wind, and the three little girls had disappeared.
"The children! Where did they go?" Goliath asked Brendan and Margot.
"What children?" Brendan asked, confused by what Goliath meant.
"Come on," Brooklyn walked over and touched the spot where the little girls stood, "They were right here a second ago."
"Please, there were no children here," Margot said, afraid of the gargoyles and Etrigan.
"Three little girls stood in this place but seemed to have disappeared without a trace," Etrigan said.
"If there were no children, then what did we see?" Lexington asked.
"And who were they talking about?" Goliath added.
After arresting the terrorists and locking them up, Matt, Elisa, and Athena's shifts were over, and the three were ready to sleep. Jason soon arrived at the precinct and drove Athena back to their home. On the way, Jason was telling Athena about the three little girls.
"The three girls were there the entire time Goliath, the others, and myself were dealing with the terrorists. Goliath had a conversation with them, but then they disappeared. The two hostages said they never saw any little girls."
"How strange," Athena commented, "What did they say?"
"The black-haired little girl said, "The cause is everything until her own life is threatened. Still, it's good that you saved her." The blonde girl said, "If you forgot what she's forgotten, that every life is precious, then you'll be no different from her." Goliath then said he would never be like the terrorists we fought to which the white-haired little girl responded, "We were not talking about this terrorist"," Jason informed his wife.
Athena yawns, "Let's get some sleep and talk about it later. I don't think I've ever been this tired before in my life."
"Seeing as you've been alive for over a thousand years, you must be exhausted, my love," Jason chuckled.
When they arrived home, Jason and Athena changed and got into bed. The husband and wife quickly fell asleep moments after lying in bed. During their slumber, Athena opened her eyes and was in a dream. Athena knew it was a dream because she was not in her bed but on an island.
Soon, three women appeared before Athena dressed in white gowns and had different colored hair: blonde, black, and white.
"A child of two worlds: human and gargoyle," Luna spoke, "Hated by your own kind for who raised you."
"And despised by the gargoyle who raised you as her own because of your humanity," Seline added.
"We shall offer you a glimpse into the past to know the future," Pheobe said.
"Who are you?" Athena asked.
"We are merely messengers here to bring you the knowledge you did not know you needed," Luna answered cryptically.
A silver mist swirled around the three women, and they disappeared. Suddenly, a silver mist swirled around Athena. And she was transported to Castle Wyvern in Scotland in the year 994 A.D. Athena was surprised because those standing before her were Goliath, Demona, the Captain of the Guard, and herself. Athena quickly realized this was the night before the massacre. But she wondered why the three women sent her here.
Goliath unwraps the bandage from his claw, which has healed from the previous night, and flexes it.
"Those Vikings may return at daybreak, Goliath. I say, take all your gargoyles and make sure they're gone," The Captain insisted.
"I agree," Demona said, "Let us go out in force and put an end to these pigs once and for all."
"Too dangerous," Goliath told them, "I don't want to leave the castle unprotected."
"Their leader swore he'd be back," The Captain argued, "It's best to hurry them far away now and not take that chance."
"Very well," Goliath reluctantly agreed, "But I shall do it. I can scare those cowards away without any help."
Goliath stretched his wings and prepared to take off, but Demona stopped him. She grabbed his arm and had a desperate look in her eye.
"That is too dangerous for you!" Demona pleaded, "Let me come along, at least!"
Goliath turns to her and puts his hands on her shoulders, "You and the others will stay here at the castle. You are my best warrior. I leave you in command."
"No. I cannot let you!" She argued.
"I won't go alone," He promised and hugged her close, trying to quiet her fears, "Remember, you and I are one. Now and forever."
His beloved looked up at him sadly but said nothing as he turned away. Though Demona reached for him as he prepared to take off, she did not stop him.
The female gargoyle turns to Athena, "Why don't you go join the others and make sure they won't get into trouble."
"Of course, Mother," Athena nodded and walked down to the bonfire in the courtyard.
When Athena was gone, Demona's sadness turned to anger.
"This ruins everything!" Demona exclaimed, "The plan was to have all the gargoyles away during the attack so we could return to claim an empty castle!"
The present Athena tried not to let a tear form as she listed to Demona's betrayal.
The Captain approached Demona, placing a hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her anger.
"The plan can still work," He insisted, "I'll signal Hakon. Tell him to attack during the day. The humans will still be taken-"
Demona cuts him off by grabbing the front of his cloak and dragging him forward.
"You fool!" She snarled, "Have you forgotten? Gargoyles are stone during the day! We'll be helpless!"
Demona threw him to the ground in disgust. The Captain didn't seem fazed as he got back up, straightening his cloak.
"Not while I'm about," The Captain insisted, "I swear I'll keep your clan safe."
Demona was hesitant to place the lives of her clan in the hands of the Captain, but having little to no choice, she begrudgingly agreed.
The silver mist returned and clouded Athena's vision. When the most cleared, the scene changed to moments before the gargoyles would be turned to stone at sunrise. Coldstone and Desdemona walk past Athena toward their perches. Demona glides down from the tower and lands between them.
"Listen, quickly. There's something…." Demona began before spotting the Vikings creeping toward the castle for an attack. She sighs, "Nevermind. It's nothing."
Demona walked away from Coldstone and Desdemona toward the castle's edge. She jumped over the edge before gliding away from Wyvern. Demona then took refuge beneath the cliff as the sun rose. As Demona's body turned to stone with the rising sun, a tear ran down her face as she heard the Vikings beginning their attack, and she left her clan helpless.
Athena was once again forced to witness the massacre of her family. Rage coursed through Athena's veins. She was angry at the Vikings, the Captain, and Demona. She had the choice to save the clan but did not take it. Athena knew that it was Demona's fault the Clan died. A rage and pain-filled scream escaped Athena's lips.
Athena shot up awake and in a cold sweat, gasping for air, causing Jason to wake up. At first, he was barely awake and confused, but then Jason saw Athena, causing him to be fully awake and concerned.
"Athena, what happened?" Jason asked.
"I'm not sure, but I think I was shown the past. Three women appeared in my dream and told me they were messengers to bring me the knowledge I did not know I needed," Athena answered before tears ran down her face, "Demona... She…"
"What did Demona do?"
"She betrayed the clan," Athena responded in a sob. Tears continued to run down Athena's face as Jason held her close. Athena freed herself from Jason and got out of bed as her sadness turned into anger, "Demona is why my family is dead, not the Vikings! She claimed the humans were the ones to blame! Demona is the one to blame!" Athena exclaimed, throwing her arms about, "She could have saved the clan, but instead, she abandoned them! She abandoned me!"
The rage coursing through Athena made her magic unstable. After Athena spoke the last sentence, a fireball shot from her right hand and hit one of the curtains next to the fireplace, causing it to catch fire. Athena then falls to her hands and knees, crying as her rage returns to sadness. Jason calmly got out of bed and walked over to Athena. Jason waved his hand at the fire, causing it to diminish. Jason got on the floor, and Athena felt his arms wrap around her, pulling her into a loving embrace.
Jason places a hand under Athena's chin before lifting her head toward him. Athena looked at her husband with tears running down her face before Jason whipped them away.
"Demona does not deserve your tears, my love," Jason said with a comforting voice, "Her very name does not deserve to be spoken by you. Demona has lost everything because of what she did a thousand years ago. But you have gained more than she will ever have. You have your father and uncles with you, while she has only her hate."
After a moment, Athena managed to stop crying thanks to the comforting words from her husband. Jason held Athena in his arms as he helped her off the floor. The husband and wife looked into each other's eyes before sharing a small kiss. When the kiss ended, the two returned to bed and slept in each other's arms.
An alarm clock woke the sleeping husband and wife. The two lay on their sides, and Jason had an arm wrapped around Athena's waist, causing her back to be pulled toward his chest. Athena groaned in annoyance at the clock as it played the golden oldies radio station it was always tuned onto. The song causing Athena to wake up was "Oh Boy" by Buddy Holly and The Crickets. Athena reached toward the alarm clock and turned it off. She felt Jason remove his arm from her waist and sat up as he yawned.
"Good evening, dear," Jason greeted his wife before kissing her cheek.
"Good evening," Athena returned. She glanced at the clock, "We better hurry, or we'll miss greeting the boys when they wake up."
The two cleaned up, dressed, and ate a small meal before going to the roof.
"Gone, gone the form of man. Rise the Demon Etrigan!" Jason spoke, causing him to turn into Etrigan.
"Good evening, my dear maiden. You look beautiful this night. Come, we must go for a flight," Etrigan said before holding Athena bridal style.
Etrigan's wings appeared and spread out before he jumped off the roof and flew toward the clock tower as the sun set and the moon rose. Gliding through the sky, Athena looked down at the people below and felt something odd, even for New York.
"Etrigan, can you fly a little closer to the ground? There's something I need to check out," Athena said.
"As you wish," He simply responded before flying lower.
As they got lower, Athena's eyes grew wide as she could see what she felt was wrong. Athena and Etrigan gasped in shock before landing in the middle of the street before he set Athena down. Not one person screamed in horror at the sight of the Medival Demon. But they could not even if they wanted to because they were all stone.
"In the city that never sleeps, statues of humans cover the street. Perhaps this is all a ruse by a foe to deceit," Etrigan said.
Athena approached one of the statues and placed her hand on its forehead. Athena closed her eyes, and when she opened them, they were glowing blue. After a few seconds, Athena's eyes returned to normal, and she had a slightly sad expression.
"They're not statues, Etrigan," Athena told him before turning to face him, "I think someone somehow turned these people to stone. As far as I can tell by the one I touched, they're still alive, just sleeping. Much like my family when they turn to stone during the day."
Etrigan walked toward his wife and the human statue before sniffing the human turned to stone. Etrigan stopped sniffing and growled, "The statue reeks of the forces of darkness. What person could ever deliver such harshness?"
"There is one person who comes to mind, but we need to find Elisa, my father, and the others," Athena said.
Etrigan picked Athena up in his arms before flying up to the sky. Not long after taking flight, Athena spotted Goliath, Hudson, Brooklyn, and Lexington gliding through the sky.
"There they are," Athena pointed out her family to Etrigran. The two then moved closer to the Gargoyles, "Father! Father!"
"Daughter!" Goliath said with relief in his voice. He, Etrigan, and the other Gargoyles soon landed on the rooftop of a tall building.
Etrigan allowed Athena out of his arms so the father and daughter could hug. When the hug ended, Goliath placed his hands on Athena's shoulders and looked at her with a father's worry.
"Are the two of you safe?" Goliath asked.
"We are," Athena replied, "I take it you guys have seen the statues all over the city?"
"Indeed, lass," Hudson answered, "There was a statue of Elisa in the clocktower when we woke up, but your father does not think it was a statue."
"Then he assumes right. I conducted a little spell on one of the statues, and they are human," Athena informed her family, "And as far as I can tell, they are asleep. Much like you guys when you turn to stone."
"Freaky," Brooklyn commented.
"Where were you guys heading?" Athena inquired.
"We were just on our way to see a friend of mine: Robbins," Hudson answered, "I am hoping he will know something."
"Perhaps he will. We better get-Agh!" Athena clutched her head as she felt tremendous intense pain in her head.
"Athena!" Etrigan and the Gargoyles exclaimed.
Athena's legs gave out and would have collapsed to the ground if Etrigan had not caught her. The pain caused Athena to lose consciousness. And she was transported back to Castle Wyvern a thousand years ago like before. Athena looked around and realized it was the night after the massacre as she saw the shattered stone remains of her Clan.
Soon, Demona appeared at the Castle next to Athena and was confused that she saw no one, human or gargoyle. As Demona continued looking around, a sense of dread and fear began to form.
"Brothers?" Demona called, "Sisters?"
Demona's foot hit a small piece of rubble. And she was about to toss it away in annoyance, but then she noticed something. The rock was the stone face of one of her Clan members. Demona dropped the stone in horror before frantically looking around. As she did, Demona finally noticed all the small piles of rubble where her Clan members had once stood during the daylight.
Devastating sorrow and grief took hold of Demona as she fell to her knees, screaming in pain and anguish. Soon, tears fell from the loss of her Clan. Suddenly, a shadow passed over her. Looking up, Demona saw the silhouette of Goliath and Hudson approaching the tallest tower.
"Goliath?" Demona whispered.
She watched them land on the tower, Goliath kneeling at the sight of their fallen Clan. Ashamed at the part she played in this tragedy, Demona fled from the Castle as she could not face Goliath at that moment.
"I can't face him. Not yet. I'll come back later," Demona planned, "Say I was seeking him. He'll be so glad I'm alive!"
The silver mist swirled around Athena before fading. Athena knew it took her to when Demona returned to the Castle, and she saw her returning. Athena noticed she was at the tallest tower and saw her father in his stone sleep. Athena looked over the edge and saw herself, Princess Katherine, Magus, Tom, and his Mother, Mary, loading the gargoyle eggs from the rookery onto the wagon.
Athena looked up to see Demona flying back to the Castle. The sight of her made Athena's blood boil. Along the tallest tower of the Castle, Demona could see the stone statues of five of her comrades.
"Stone?" Demona questioned as she landed on the tower and examined her friends, "At night? How can this be?"
As Demona looked up, her tears threatened to return as she spotted Goliath's stone form.
"Oh, my love…." Demona said in grief, "What have I-?"
Before Demona could finish her sentence, she remembered the Captain's broken promise. She remembered the hatred the humans had shown her, her daughter, and her Clan. With these unpleasant memories, Demona's sadness turned to bitterness and hatred.
"What have they done to you?!"
The sounds of a neighing horse pulled Demona out of her hatred. Curious to see if it was her daughter and afraid someone was coming to smash what remained of her Clan, Demona approached the edge of the battlements to see Magus, Athena, Mary, and Princess Katharine loading the gargoyle eggs from the rookery into a wagon. Tom closed the back of the wagon, climbing in with the eggs as it rolled away from the Castle. Athena hopped on a horse and followed them from behind.
Demona watched as her daughter and the wagon with the eggs slowly disappeared from sight. Demona wanted to go after them, reclaim the eggs and her daughter, but she knew she alone could not protect them. Reluctantly, Demona turned away, climbing the tall tower until she was beside Goliath's statue.
Demona lovingly touched Goliath's face. She pressed two fingers to her lips before using them to kiss Golitath's stone-cold lips. As Demona cried, she kissed Goliath's forehead, and her tears fell on him. She turned away from the Castle, flying off into the night. Athena turned away from Demona and toward her father as the tears ran down his face, making it appear he was crying. A slight sadness for Demona overcame Athena, but it left as quickly as it came. Soon, the silver mist returned and covered Athena.
When the mist faded, Athena saw she was in a stable on a farm not far from Castle Wyvern. Suddenly, the horses scream and whine in fear, causing a young boy named Gillecomgain to enter the stables. Athena was unsure how she knew the young boy's name but assumed it had something to do with the three women. The boy had a pitchfork in his hands, holding it like a spear, ready to defend the animals.
"Who's there?" Gilecomgain called, "Show yourself, you thief!"
Suddenly, Demona came out of the shadows, raking the child across the face. He fell, dropping the pitchfork as blood poured from between his fingers.
"Agh! My face!" Gilecomgain cried.
"That'll teach you, humans, to betray us," Demona snarled at him before she snatched a sack of apples from beside the stable door.
The silver mist covered appeared and Athena again. When Athena opened her eyes, she saw that she was in Etrigan's arms, and everyone was staring at her with great concern.
"Are you alright, daughter?" Goliath asked as he approached Athena.
Etrigan helped Athena down but held her close to aid with her standing. Athena knew that Etrigan was concerned about her, and was worried that whatever happened made her slightly weak.
"I'm fine," Athena responded, taking a breath before she glanced up at Etrigan, "It happened again."
"What happened again, lass?" Hudson inquired.
Athena looked away from her family, hesitant to tell them what was wrong.
"Please, daughter, tell us," Goliath pleaded, his voice filled with concern for his daughter. Athena sighed before she looked back at her family.
"Since yesterday, I've been getting visions of the past. More specifically, of Demona," She confessed, "In my first vision, three women appeared and told me that there is something I need to know, something for the future. They took me to the past, the night before the massacre. I saw Demona and the Captain talking about their bargain. I saw Demona flee from Wyvern as the sun rose and the Vikings were about to attack. She allowed our Clan to be slaughtered!" Athena then burst into tears as she told her family what she saw. She buried her face into Etrigan's chest as he held her close, petting her head.
While the gargoyles knew Demona had struck a bargain with the Captain to keep the Clan safe, they did not know that Demona had left them at the mercy of the Vikings while they slept. Brooklyn's hatred for Demona grew, and he would have said something about getting Demona or going off to search for her alone, but he did not want to upset Athena more.
Etrigan placed a hand under Athena's chin and lifted her head so their eyes would meet, "My love, the visions you are experiencing are not ones of grief but are to give you knowledge as the three women said. Dry your tears so we can save the city and avenge your Clan as Demona's heart fills with dread."
Athena softly smiled at Etrigran and wiped away her tears. After centuries of loving Athena and being bound to Jason, Etrigan had developed a compassionate and caring side that no demon had before.
Athena turned to her family and said, "Etrigan is right. We need to focus on saving the people of New York. Now, let's go visit Hudson's friend."
Etrigan picked up Athena, holding her bridal style before he and the gargoyles jumped off the building. They follow behind Hudson as he leads them to his friend Robbins' home.
After flying through the sky, the gargoyles, Etrigan, and Athena arrived at Robbins' house just northwest of Harlem. The silence in the night was deafening. The silence was rare in the city that never sleeps.
"There's the house of my friend Robbins," Hudson called as he pointed.
"It's so quiet tonight. No horns, nothing," Brooklyn said.
"Let's take a closer look," Goliath told his Clan and son-in-law before they dived toward the ground and landed by Robbins' house.
On the ground, Athena, Etrigan, and the gargoyles looked at the statues of people scattered around. But they now know they are real people cursed to be stone.
"It seems that whatever spell was cast has reached beyond the city," Athena, "We need to see if Robbins has been affected as well."
The six walked toward the house, and Hudson quickly knocked on Robbins' door. Almost immediately, Gilly's barking could be heard as Robbins came to and opened the door.
"Gillie, what's gotten into you? Who's there?" Robbins asked, "I must apologize for my dog, she's not usually..."
"It's me, old friend," Hudson spoke. He knelt down to Gilly and allowed her to lick his face.
"Hudson. I should have known by the way Gilly barked," Robbins smiled before stepping aside to allow the Clan into his home, "Come in, come in."
"My friends would be more comfortable outside," The Elder Gargoyle told his friend.
"I'm so glad you stopped by," Robbins closed the door behind him and stepped further outside, "I was getting jumpy. I can't reach anyone by phone. And it's so quiet out here. Preternaturally quiet."
"We've noticed," Hudson glanced at a pair of statues.
"How long has it been like this?" Brooklyn impatiently asked.
"Your friend is impatient," Robbins remarked.
"The curse of youth," Hudson commented, "But something odd is happening."
"Is there anything you could tell us?" Athena asked, "Any information would help."
"Well, it got quiet at sunset," Robbins recalled, "I wonder if it had anything to do with that odd broadcast."
'What broadcast?" Goliath questioned.
"It's still playing. Come, listen."
The six followed Robbins into his house, and the blind man showed them to his T.V. The Clan, Etrigan, and Athena were shocked to see Demona on the screen, and she was speaking Latin.
"...auditi. In nocte usque. Ad saxum commutate."
"Demona!" Brooklyn exclaimed.
"Lexington, turn off the sound!" Goliath ordered.
Lexington quickly rushed toward the T.V. and pressed the mute button, silencing the broadcast.
"I like to listen to the news on T.V., but today, this woman broke into the signal and began chanting in Latin," Robbins explained, "It's been repeating nonstop on every channel ever since."
"We have to go," Goliath told his Clan.
"Hudson, what's going on?" Robbins asked his friend, "You know more than you're letting on."
"Less than you think. But you and Gilly stay inside, for now, Robbins. It's going to be a bad night," Hudson warned before leaving his friend's house with his Clan.
The gargoyles and Etrigan, carrying Athena, took to the sky again and began their journey to the city. When they returned, the six saw how much of the population was affected by Demona as they flew over the statues.
"Everyone in the city. I didn't know she had this kind of power," Goliath spoke.
"I wouldn't put anything past Demona," Brooklyn told his leader.
"Why wasn't your friend affected?" Lexington asked Hudson.
"You have to see and hear magic for it to touch you," Hudson explained, "A blind man's immune."
"We'll have to split up to find Demona," Goliath told his Clan.
"Right. I'll go north," Brooklyn began flying away before his leader stopped him.
"No. We'll search in pairs," Goliath announced, "Brooklyn, you're with me. Etrigan and Athena will search together. Hudson, Lexington, stop back at the clock tower. Tell Broadway what's going on. He and Bronx should search."
"But that'll leave Elisa unprotected," Lexington told his leader.
"No, Elisa will be safe in the tower. Demona doesn't know she is there," Athena told him.
The six split off in different directions. Goliath and Brooklyn went right. Lexington and Hudson went left toward the Clocktower. Etrigan and Athena kept flying straight.
"Finding Demona will be difficult in this maze," Etrigan spoke, "I fear our courage will be faze."
"Don't be so unsure. I fear finding Demona will be easier than expected, my love," Athena said, grimly looking at the statues below. She feared for their safety as now Demona could do what she pleased with them.
