Smurfocalypse chapter 87: The Seven Smurf Deathmatch Part 4: The Radioactive Poltergeist!
Titan's trump card Carambola the Smurf hunter was dead. With each passing moment Titan's forces grew weaker and weaker as the knights cut through them, but there were still powerful warriors amongst Titan's ranks that he was confident could bring destruction to Earth starting with the slaughter of the knights and all the Smurfs in the port.
"Poltergeist! Time to even the odds!" Titan yelled.
The Smurf known as Poltergeist stepped forward. Clad in heavy armor from head to toe with a layer of chainmail under the armor, there was no part of this Smurf that was unprotected except for his eyes. The helmet had a small slit near the eyes for visibility purposes. In his hand was a Morningstar. The knights saw the Cosmic Smurf step forward into the arena, Falconer turned to Hefty.
"My turn Hefty." Falconer said.
Then he looked to his falcon.
"It's do or die Zarus." Falconer said.
Then he stepped out into the arena to meet his opponent. Poltergeist kicks HD's severed head out of his way as he walks, and literally steps on Carambola's body showing no respect for his fallen companions.
"Be careful out there cousin…" Archer said.
Falconer stands in the arena with Zarus perched on his right arm and sizes up his opponent. This would be a tough battle for Falconer. His armor type already puts him at a disadvantage against his opponent's Morningstar. However Falconer truly believed there was nothing he couldn't achieve with Zarus by his side.
"Have nothing to say?" Falconer asked.
Poltergeist just shook his head.
"There is little point to talking to someone who is already dead." Poltergeist said as he readied his stance.
"Very well then. Zarus! You know what to do!" Falconer said.
The falcon screeched and took flight soaring through the air towards Poltergeist. Zarus swooped in for an attack, but then something unexpected happened as he approached the Smurf.
"Radiation Field!" Poltergeist yelled.
Just then Poltergeist's body emitted visible blue Smurf essence in the form of an aura which quickly expanded and struck the falcon out of the sky as it expanded. Zarus cried out in distress as he fell out of the air and landed on the ground with a thud. He then began to squirm as though trying to stand, but he couldn't as though he were grievously injured.
"Zarus!" Falconer screams in horror.
Titan threw back his head and laughed as Zarus screeched in distress and writhed on the ground.
"You son of a bitch! What did you do to my bird?! What is radiation?!" Falconer said.
Poltergeist laughs before he responds.
"It's a powerful poison from Outer Smurf, and your falcon just took a heavy dose of it. On my planet radiation destroys you from the inside out, and there is no cure. Your falcon is as good as dead, and if you get close to me you'll soon be next." Poltergeist said.
"I don't have to get close to you to kill you." Falconer said as he drew his Smurf gun.
Poltergeist just looks at the Smurf Gun and laughs.
"And what sort of toy is this?" Poltergeist asked.
"Your about to find out." Falconer said.
Falconer aimed down the sights of his weapon and fired a deadly projectile which soared through the air towards his opponent. However the mere force of Poltergeist's aura shredded the bullet to pieces before it could do any damage. Falconer's eyes widened as the bullet shredded into barely visible pieces and scattered about the arena. Falconer was being backed into a corner, and most of his techniques were very quickly outclassed by his opponent's Smurf essence.
"This is bad. It seems most of Falconer's techniques have be made obsolete." Archer said.
"His only hope is his skill with the knife." Farmer said.
"But against an armored opponent like that? How can he possibly expect to win with just an ordinary knife?" Timber said.
Sweepy then tossed the armor shredding kris into the arena, the blade landing just in front of Falconer.
"With that." Sweepy said.
Falconer picked up the weapon and held it firmly in his right hand as he stared down his opponent. Zarus was still suffering from radiation poisoning in the background. Falconer was alone in the battlefield with his opponent.
"Can Falconer still fight without Zarus?" Carpenter asked.
"I'm not sure, but I hope so." Brainy said.
"You can do it Falconer!" Coconut screams.
Just then an unpleasant scent filled the air followed by Elaeis crying.
"Uh oh, did someone make a stinky in their shorts? Guess its time for a fresh diaper." Coconut said as she walked off.
"Probably for the best anyway. A Smurfling shouldn't be watching this." Architect said.
Poltergeist then rushed Falconer showing great speed in his heavy armor. He lifts his mace and prepares to swing it into Falconer's chest, but Falconer slashes Poltergeist across the stomach with the enchanted weapon shredding the chest plate and exposing the Smurf's bare stomach. Poltergeist attempts to retaliate by swinging his mace at Falconer, but Falconer leaps over the weapon as though it were a jump rope and stabs Poltergeist in the forehead with the kris leaving behind a gaping hole in the helmet, but Poltergeist sustained no damage. The whole time Falconer was being exposed to deadly radiation emitting from his opponent's aura. In his heavy armor Poltergeist was at a disadvantage in close combat against Falconer's light armor and weapon. Falconer remembered his training and performed feats of incredible agility as he flipped over Poltergeist's head and jabbed him in the back with the dagger. Poltergeist turns around to hit Falconer, but the Smurf ducks and follows up with another attack to the stomach this time piercing flesh. He then pulls the dagger out and strikes Poltergeist against the torso with the enchanted weapon causing it to rip another gash in Poltergeist's armor.
"Your fast, but the longer you fight me the sicker you'll get. Then you'll eventually die anyway. You may as well surrender." Poltergeist said.
"I'll never surrender to the likes of you!" Falconer said as he jabbed at Poltergeist again.
Poltergeist leaps back and quickly swings his Morningstar at Falconer. It wasn't a direct hit, but the spikes on the weapon scraped against Falconer's armor and he felt the force of the attack partially causing him to stagger. Poltergeist follows up with another attack and strikes Falconer in the gut. His armor absorbed most of the damage, but there would definitely be some discomfort. Falconer doubles over and Poltergeist strikes the helmet right off his head sending it clear across the arena. Falconer then began to feel nauseous as the battle progressed. The attacked he sustained caused a headache, and added to that were the side effects of being exposed to heavy radiation. He couldn't take it anymore and threw up right there on the spot. Poltergeist just laughs and then hits him over the back with his Morningstar causing the armor to shred and making Falconer hit the floor next to his own vomit.
"Falconer!" Hefty shouts.
"He's being poisoned!" Sweepy shouts.
"And now I'm going to tear you apart!" Poltergeist says as he lifts Falconer into the air.
"Radiation Field!" Poltergeist screams.
His aura flared high above his body and the force of it was beginning to pull Falconer apart just as it had his bullet. Falconer screamed in protest and tried to escape. He was able to when he stabbed Poltergeist in the shoulder causing the Smurf to curse and drop him. Falconer quickly got to his feet and before Poltergeist could fetch his weapon he stabbed him in the chest plate near his ribs. The tip of the blade penetrates the armor and jabs him in his ribs causing him to scream out. Poltergeist runs for his weapon only for it to be picked up by Zarus. The falcon was back on his feet and was able to fly once again, but both of them were suffering from the effects of radiation. Zarus was covered in painful looking burns, but the falcon lifts the Morningstar into the air and drops it right on Poltergeist's head causing a sickening clanging sound as the helmet caved in upon itself.
"Zarus! You're alive!" Falconer said.
Zarus was not an ordinary falcon. Magic coursed through his very being which caused him to live over a hundred years. This magic also coursed through his blood, and the magic was dispelling some of the radiation. Falconer was naturally gifted with magic as well being able to communicate with animals, but he didn't possess enough raw magic to do what Zarus' body could do. Falconer was feeling very sick, and it was making it difficult for him to fight as he tried to stab at Poltergeist again, but the attack was dodged and Poltergeist runs for his Morningstar and collects it. Poltegeist swings his Morningstar at Falconer's chest and the spikes rip through the armor and cut into his ribs causing a few of them to break. The radiation was weakening everything from his bones to his muscles. Falconer collapses, and in an attempt to save his life Zarus swoops in and grabs him up. Zarus flies a safe distance away and puts Falconer back on the ground. Falconer stands and once again he is ready for a fight.
"I've felt worse pain than this… I can survive I know I can. Maybe if I focus like when I talk to Zarus I can awaken my own Smurf essence." Falconer thought.
"Here goes nothing." Falconer said.
Falconer then began to concentrate as Poltergeist rushed towards him, and sure enough a blue aura of pure Smurf essence enveloped his being. Falconer had joined the ranks of the Super Smurfs. As Poltergeist made it way to Falconer. Falconer swung his dagger as the Smurf's chest, and a torrent of sand rushed seemingly from the knife and barraged Poltergeist sending him back with a little force.
"Sand? I wasn't expecting sand, but I can work with it. Zarus quick! Let's have that helmet off!" Falconer said.
Zarus swopped down from the air while Poltergeist was recovering from the attack and pulled the helmet right off his head. Zarus carried the helmet far away, and Falconer released another blast of sand from his Smurf essence which hit Poltergeist in the face. Sand wedged itself into the Smurf's eyes causing permanent damage which allowed Falconer strike the Smurf across the throat with the kris. This ended the battle and Poltergeist died a painful death of blood loss and suffocation. With his death all of the effects of the radiation subsided. All that was left to worry about for Falconer was his messed up rib cage which was bleeding profusely. A quick potion from Alchemist fixed him up, and the death match was set to continue.
