Chapter 17: Finally Found Them!

With a ship means things had to be official… and that meant a Jolly Roger. Luffy drew it up.

However there was ap problem…

His artwork was bad.

Really, really bad…

"What is that?" asked Ko.

"Since we're really pirates now! I made this!" said Luffy.

Everyone was very quiet.

"Oh that's an interesting take on a Jolly Roger!" said Usa.

"I don't think it was on purpose…" said Ko with a sweat drop.

"Oh.." said Usa.

"It is scary…" said Nami sarcastically.

Luffy pouted.

"Don't worry I have the art skills." Said Usopp.

He held up another Jolly Roger… but it's clear it was for him.

"That's not our symbol!" yelled both Zoro and Luffy.

They also whacked him for good measure.

Thankfully they got him to create a good one based on Luffy's design.

"And now let's paint the sail!" said Luffy.

They did managed to paint the sail correctly, though almost everyone was tired.

Luffy however wasn't tired.

He decided to try out the cannons.

This got Usopp up.

As Luffy was trying to hit a large rock with the cannon.

However Usopp managed to hit the rock that he was aiming for.

And with that Luffy declared Usopp the crew's sharpshooter.

After everyone got same rest they knew they had to talk about something…

"All right! Looks like we have all of the crew we need." Said Nami.

"We can't leave yet." Said Ko.

"Why?" asked Nami.

There was an awkward silence.

"Maybe it's time to come clean about why we're in the East Blue." Said Usa.

Ko sighed… knowing it had to come out sooner or later.

"We're not here on faction but to find someone…" said Ko.

"Why did you come here?" asked Usopp.

Both of them took a breath.

"You see…" said Ko.

That was when they heard a crash.

"Come out here now!" yelled a voice.

Most of them look out the windows to see a man destroying things on deck.

The one who didn't was Zoro who was actually taking a nap.

Luffy went out and fought the guy causing problems and Zoro woke up.

"What's going on?" asked Zoro.

"Some random guy showed up to fight." Said Usa.

Zoro blinked and realized he recognized the voice.

He got up and went outside just as Luffy had beaten the guy.

"Johnny it is you!" said Zoro surprised to see the guy.

"Big Brother Zoro!" said the man named Johnny surprised, "What are you doing on a pirate ship?"

"Long story." Said Zoro, "Where Yosaku?"

"It's terrible!" cried Johnny.

HE brought a very sick and injured man on board who was indeed Yosaku.

IT was clear they were friends of Zoro, though they didn't explain yet who they were.

Turned out the two of them were resting by the rock that Usopp had shot down earlier.

Of course both Usopp and Luffy apologized for this and nearly killing Yosaku.

"It's fine…" said Johnny, "These injuries have nothing do with that…"

He began to explain what happened to his partner, that he got sick… his teeth were falling out and old wounds reopened.

Nami ended up hitting him.

"Don't hit him! He didn't know!" said Usa.

"Luffy! Usopp! Grab a bunch of limes and put the juice in his mouth!" ordered Nami,.

The two nodded knowing it was better not to make her any more mad.

They began to squeeze the lime juice into Yosaku's mouth.

"So you figured it out too." Said Nami.

Usa nodded.

That was when Nami noticed Ko was missing.

"Wait…" she said.

Usa laughed and pointed upward.

Turned out Ko was on top of the sail… looking kind of grumpy.

"What's wrong?" asked Nami.

"I can't stand citrus fruits." Said Ko.

Nami was about to say something but then remember something growing up.

"It's a cat thing isn't it?" asked Nami.

"It's a cat thing." Sighed Ko.

Nami nodded, after all growing up she had seen plenty of cats get upset with a certain fruit's smell.

"So you know what's wrong?" asked Johnny.

'Scurvy." Said Nami.

"Scurvy?" asked Johnny.

Nami nodded and explained Scurvy to everyone… but Usa and Ko as it was clear they knew what it was.

It was a daisies caused by vitamin c deficiency and other malnutrition.

She explained to the everyone who didn't knows…

"So you understand this?" asked Nami.

The rest of the crew made noises, though during this talk, Luffy kept giving Yosaku more and more limes to help him get better quicker.

He also had a question about Ko.

"Wait… if Ko doesn't like citrus then how come she doesn't get scurvy?" asked Luffy.

"I eat tomatoes, strawberries and kiwis." Said Ko, "All of them are high in vitamin c."

"oh neat!" said Luffy.

Though the bounty hunter jumped in joy once he was feeling better.

He and Johnny started to dance around.

"You shouldn't be dancing!" yelled Nami.

Once they stopped dancing the two introduced themselves.

"I'm Johnny." Said Johnny.

"And I'm Yosaku." Said Yosaku.

"We're former bounty hunting partners of Big Brother Zoro!" said Johnny.

"Though it's surprising to know he opined a pirate crew." Said Yosaku.

"It's a long story." Sighed Zoro.

"Thank you for saving me… without you I would have…" said Yosaku.

However he was cut off when he coughed up a lot of blood and collapsed.

"Yosaku!" cried Johnny.

"I told you not to dance around!" yelled Nami.

Nami sighed at this.

"You get why good nutrition is important right?" asked Usa.

The three men of the crew nodded.

Ko meanwhile rolled her eyes at the thing.

That was when she noticed a ship in the distance, it wasn't too far away but it was close enough to be seen by the naked eye.

She decided to see what it was just in case and she took out a telescope.

It was a pirate ship…

A pirate ship with a mark…

She eyes winded at the Jolly Roger.

"Usa!" called out Ko.

Usa looked up.

"What is it?" she asked.

"I found him!" she yelled.

She then jumped down and landed perfectly.

"Found who?" asked Luffy stuffing more limes into Yosaku.

Ko covered her nose.

"Captain Oblivious." Said Ko, "Would you help us kick someone's ass if it was personal?"

Luffy looked at them and started grinning.

Not too far away on the pirate ship; they stopped the Going Merry.

"So it's a small ship but easy pickings…" said the captain, "It should be fun!"

And little did he know that the other ship had two girls who wanted to well… it's hard to pin down what they wanted, but they wanted him hurt badly for sure…

And kittle did they know it was going to be a complicated fight for sure…
