Cordelia wasn't sure she was in labor. I mean, the occasional spasms in her belly hadn't really been that intense after all. The pain in her lower back? Well, she'd been having pain in her lower back off and on for a few months. Xander gave great back rubs. He did have great hands after all. However the fact that her pants were now wet and there was a puddle around her feet was quite possibly a valid clue that she was actually in labor. The spasm of intense pain that had her screaming Xander's name pretty much clinched it.
Xander came quickly at Cordelia's cry. It was tinged slightly in fear. When he stuck his head in the door of the bathroom, she grabbed his ear and calmly informed him, SHE WAS IN LABOR. Yes, it was at top volume. She was, after all quite calm. Xander hoped his eardrum would recover. He told her he'd call Samantha and let her know they were on their way. Cordelia took off her messy clothes and put them in the hamper, cleaning herself up as best she could, then dawning a dress she'd chosen months before to wear to the hospital, since it would be easy to get off once she got there.
Xander began that dance that fathers to be do, known as 'the running around like a chicken with its head cut off' dance. He managed to get Cordelia's suitcase in the car, called everyone to let them know the baby was the way and got Cordelia in the car. He also managed to get them to the hospital in one piece.
After several hours he came out to inform the grandparents, Madeleine and Charles Chase and Rory Harris, the aunts Rhonda, Heidi, Willow, Tara and Sarah, the aunt and uncle Jenny and Giles, and the godparents, Jesse and Faith that a six pound six ounce girl with a head full of dark hair had born to him and Cordelia.
Her name was Abigail Anne Harris-Chase.
