Omake #15 – A Show of Growth (Canon) – Ashley Spinelli – (During events of Chapter 96)

(Kassai Institute | May 31st | 6:00 a.m.)

Ashley Spinelli was a rough and tumble girl. However, she was offset with the changes she'd go through attending Kassai, namely the physical changes. It started small, her skin looked a bit clearer…and her vitality was getting better. But she did not notice she was slowly growing, failing to notice her clothes were getting a bit snug.

Her alarm clock blared as she groaned…she slammed her fist down on it. Given classes were basically over at this point, she forgot to take off the alarm. Given Sissi had graduated early, it left Spinelli with the dorm to herself which she was more than happy to have. Her Pokémon were either waking up or still asleep. Her Tentacool was now a Tentacruel that she named Amadeo. Her Butterfree that she now called 'Emilia' was on perch. Emilia was not exactly all too good at battles, but Spinelli kept her around more like company (thus she was not on the active team). She had made other additions to her team. Her main flyer, Antonella, a Xatu, got off what was Sissi's bed. She was grateful for being able to sleep on a bed and not be in her ball all the time. She lamented inwardly about not having the bed for herself as she shared it with Placido, Spinelli's Ampharos, who was still asleep. Of course, her Pinsir (Giulia), Glaceon (Aurelio), and the most recent addition (and most recently evolved) to the team: Infernape (Durante) were still sleeping.

Antonella looked over at her trainer only to balk.

"What's wrong?" Spinelli said as Antonella pointed to her mirror. "The mirror?"

Before she could even look in the mirror, she noticed her voice sounded less scratchy. That got her to go to the mirror, a full length one that was something Sissi left behind for Spinelli to have. Not that she used it or touched it though until now. She stepped back in shock at her reflection seeing that she was now a foot taller with her hair grown out to her mid back. She is still rather slender and lithe but there is a clear showing of developing curves. She had something of a chest size now…even if it was small. Her eyes widened with a bit of shock as she was realized she looked like a tanned and small version of her mother…although she did not have the muscle that she had. Given her the exercise and pursuit to learn how to fight, she was glad the reasons for her dedication were more visible. She trailed a finger on her tight stomach pleased with the muscle. She realized nearly all her clothes wouldn't fit her at all.

"Shit, I'm going to need new clothing." She said under her breath as she flipped the mirror. "Huh?"

The backside of the mirror had an envelope taped to the back that she opened up to find a letter.

'Ashley,

I wanted to leave you this mirror as a gift for you being a good roommate and being you're going to be at the school longer. I figured even a tomboy like yourself will want to primp yourself up in the mirror. I also want to apologize for being insensitive somethings…not everyone is up on the richer side of life like me. So I left you something in the envelope.

Inside the envelope? A neat stack of Pokédollar bills.

Omake #15 – Plans for the Future (Canon) – Shinji and Asuka – (During events of Chapter 99)

(Viridian City | June 7th | 10:00 a.m.)

Asuka was never more grateful to Professor Tree for letting them stay with him as his lab. She still was not fully on board with his pot usage. She and Shinji were outside that morning watching the Pokémon run around. The days had been peaceful with Shinji having been able to celebrate his 15th birthday yesterday.

"Shinji, what's our future plans?" Asuka asked out of the blue. "We got together…we got married. Now what?"

"Is this on kids or where we're going to settle down at?" Shinji asked.

"Second one. We already agreed to give it a bit of time before we go for having kids. You sure about Cianwood City?" Asuka remarked as Shinji nodded. "I just wanted to make sure."

Asuka seemed to hesitate at first but confessed something.

"My father called me recently…wanting to reconnect." Asuka said. "Looking back, I pushed him away as much as he pushed me."

"You never did mention all the details." Shinji said.

"My mother grew sick mentally…something was wrong with her. Not sure what…but she had to be put into the hospital. There was little they could do. My father began an affair with one of the doctors…and then soon after my mother took her own life….but not before trying to strangle me." Asuka said weakly.

Shinji quietly pulled her into a hug.

"I ended up in the school and largely forgot about it as I just refused to speak to him. He called because he found out I got married." Asuka said.

"So, what's he been up to?" Shinji asked.

"I have a half sibling. Turns out his affair partner got pregnant not before I was sent off to school." Asuka said gently.

"I get it…so what happens now?" Shinji asked.

"My father wants to visit us…I managed to hold that off until July." Asuka said with a sigh. "I know this sounds petty, but part of me just wants you to get me knocked up out of spite. But I can't be doing that…"

"Not that I'd say no to angry sex from you." Shinji said with a grin. "Especially when I tug your hair."

"Shinji~" Asuka whined. "Not in the open where someone could hear. And we can't…we're not ready."

"Well, we're soon going to have a house in Cianwood. I did have to ask Rei to help me to do it, but we're going to have our own home." Shinji said, ecstatic. "And ironically enough, it'll be ready in July."

Asuka groaned but perked up suddenly.

"You know…my dad sounds real guilty on the phone…think he'll try to make it up with gifts and stuff." She asked him.

"Oh yeah." Shinji snarked.

Omake #16 – Sideline Commentary (Canon) – Ashley Spinelli – (During events of Chapter 99-103)

(Kassai Institute | June 7th)

Spinelli found herself looking at the mirror again. Before Kensuke, Toji, and Hikari left after graduating, they had taken Spinelli out shopping to celebrate. With her growth, she blended into the crowd here a bit…and found herself getting attention. Spinelli never saw her as a vain person like the dreaded Ashley, but it did give her confidence boost. Now, she had completed the new look. Black eyeliner, silver stud earrings, a silver helix magnetic band 'piercing' in her right hair, and her long hair in a low ponytail using her old hairbands. She now wore a Red Splatter Paint T-Shirt under a slightly oversized black double-breasted leather jacket, cutoff dark blue jeans over her old (and now distressed for it to fit) red and orange stripped leggings, black ankle boots with orange laces and soles, studded armbands, her school's white band around her right arm, black fingerless gloves, and an orange bandana tied around her left arm. Her jacket had several patches on it, one of them being a US Flag, and a design of a Mega Gyrados skull on the back. Given school was over for the summer aside from the leftover summer courses to get her 'equivalency' that were thankfully in the afternoon and evening, she did not have to wear the uniform.

She looked at her computer, it was time to make the call. Given it was early morning on her end, it was clearly later in the afternoon. Given the event that her old school was hosting to celebrate test scores, most of them were still going to be at the school…which was why they wanted her to call today. Calmly, she got it set up, sticking to an audio channel at first.

"I'm calling in, can you guys hear me?" Spinelli asked.

"We can hear you long and clear." Miss Finster said as Spinelli chuckled. "We're waiting on video."

"Ms. Finster, I'm just going to say that my time over here had changed me." Spinelli said before putting on the video feed. "Quite drastically."

The looks on her classmate's faces were admittedly priceless, especially the Ashleys. T.J. was simply frozen.

"What the fuck?!" Ashley Q screeched.

"I'd chide you for that, but I was thinking that in my mind." Ms. Finster said. "But good grief, Spinelli, what happened to you?"

"To make the complicated part short, eating the food here had an effect on my body." Spinelli said.

"I knew it. It's been rumored that the meat and plant life around the regions are extremely potent for nutrition. It's likely Spinelli's pituitary gland was kicked into overdrive from all nutrients and active lifestyle." Gretchen said before sighing. "In layman term's, living over there has her stronger and healthier."

"Well, I actually have a lot to talk about. Namely that I got my trainer license!" Spinelli said, pulling it out of her jacket. "However, I can't consider going on the journey outside Sevii until September. For now, I have free rein of the Sevii Islands to fully explore until then. And I'm still having to take classes to get my 'equivalency'…basically a GED."

"How's that going?" Vince asked.

"It's not that bad…it's all condensed to what is needed for you to be an adult alongside 'life skills'. Learning Japanese wasn't so bad." Spinelli said dryly. "With how it's set up, it sets you up to either go into Pokémon training, find a job, or go to college for further education. Or some combination of the thr-"

She was cut off by the rest of her Pokémon waking up. Aurelio immediately went for Spinelli's lap to sit in, quickly getting attention from people calling him cute.

"The little bugger is doing this on purpose…" Spinelli said, taking him off her lap and on the desk.

"Frosty little shit." Durante barked coming into view.

"That monkey's on fire. Man, why didn't my parents let me come sooner?" TJ complained.

"Yes, it breathes fire." Spinelli said. "Let me introduce you to the rest of this. The bird standing in the corner looking all sagelike is Antonella. The frosty one is Aurelio. The one with the red light for a tail is Placido, Giulia is the giant stag bettle, and the monkey king himself is called Durante. Amadeo evolved to his final form. I'll take your-"

There was a banging on the door as Amadeo opened the door to see Sakura run in.

"Spinelli, you're not going to believe. Someone's going to challenge the Elite Four." Sakura said as Spinelli's eyes widened.

"I assume that's a bad thing-"

"Depends on who…the Elite Four are considered the best trainers in a region acting as vanguards. Traditionally, a trainer would face them in a gauntle-"

"Yes, that's what happening. It's Crimson…and it's all over TV." Sakura said.

It was a small miracle that Sakura had the skills to set up means for a feed so Spinelli's friends would be able to watch.

~Crimson vs Lorelei~

"There's the first member of the Elite Four…Lorelei…master of the Ice-type." Sakura said dramatically.

"Oh my god, that's Crimson…he looks so roguish." Ashley A said with a dreamy expression.

"Forgot about her, look at Lorelei…" Randall said with a dreamy sigh.

The battle was intense, but it was clearly Crimson had the upper hand through the find. Mikey found himself a fan of Tessa. Crimson would take the win before moving on to the next member of the Elite Four.

~Crimson vs Bruno~

Spinelli hated to admit, but she might have also made goo-goo eyes at Bruno's physique. Then again, most of the other girls were. But the fight got her attention given it was more intense than the first one. Bets were made on how far Crimson would go. Principal Prickly wanted in on that action. Then Crimson took the victory. Those betting for Crimson made bank that moment and felt they could bet on him again.

~Crimson vs Agatha~

For the Ashleys, some points of admiration they took away from Crimson giving one of his led Pokémon was a Ghost type. It was a haunting reminder that ghosts basically were real.

"Agatha kinda reminds me of Ms. Finster." TJ said as Ms. Finster glared at him. "You're both so mature and wise…"

Then they watched Agatha release her Gengar to merge with her shadow before changing her appearance to look younger. The adults were seriously considering going to the regions just to inquire about that, only to see Agatha clearly looked unhinged and the fight was completely brutal. For Spinelli's class, they got to see the rough side of battling. Too many close calls that got several to change their bet to Agatha only to curse when Crimson pulled out the victory.

"It's only Lance now…and seeing that he's acting champion…it's going to a tough fight." Hikari said.

"I'm betting all or nothing." TJ said.

"I highly doubt-"

~Crimson vs Lance~

Principal Prickly was not even mad. The fight was amazing, but he'd say that the Agatha fight was better. No, it was the fact that he decided to humor TJ and bet 100 dollars. Now he was down 100 dollars, and TJ was doing a victory dance. The class would bid their goodbyes along with the staff as Spinelli hung up.

"Your friends are pretty cool." Sakura said. "But we should go Ashley…we're going to miss lunch."

Spinelli returned her Pokémon to her balls except for Butterfree before leaving with her, realizing that she skipped breakfast to watch all that.

(A/N: Blargsnarf had a design for an older Spinelli that was just a sketch and helped inspired my take for a new look for Spinelli. For those curious, she's about five foot one with a size of AA. I realized I could give her and Sissi a nice character moment and scratch my itch to make this story more complete. And yes, the details with Asuka's father were slightly lifted from the NGE manga. Now back to the adventure!)
