Sorry for the wait. Long awaited genin test beings now..

GENIN EXAM

Naruto awoke at four-thirty am, wiping his eyes of remaining sleepiness.

"Finally, it's time to become a genin and continue my plan..." Naruto muttered, managing to smirk evilly even when tired.

Naruto appeared at the Training Ground, greeted by the sight of Yugao sharpening her nails with a kunai.

"Let's begin," Naruto said, his eyes trained on her form. "I don't want to waste time."

"Hold on a minute, Naruto," Yugao said, her eyes finally making their way up to his face. "We haven't even begun speaking about the details.." She finished, a smirk marring her features and an inquisitive expression forming on the blonde's. "This test is a combat situated test. Normally, I would use these two bells," Yugao said, pulling out the aforementioned bells. "To make you and your team split up and either learn the meaning of teamwork or fail miserably. Of course, this is a one-man cell. Teamwork is out of the window."

A gracious smile took over Yugao's face, replacing the smirk. Naruto felt his face twitch and a frown began to show on his lips. "So this is a test of strength?" Naruto inquired, receiving a nod from the purple-haired woman. "Don't get me wrong, I'm strong, but a genin against a Jonin, really?" Naruto asked once again, and Yugao answered.

"Yes, really. Of course, to make it easier on you, I will only use one hand." Yugao said, smirking confidently as the boy leaped up to attack her out of rage. With a single finger, she blocked the boy's attack before speaking. "The test begins, now."

TEAM 7

Sasuke, Sakura, and Sai all sat down, waiting uneventfully for their gray-haired team leader to show up. He didn't.

It had been ten minutes since they arrived at the instructed Training Grounds and were beyond angered to find out that Kakashi had not bothered showing up for the exams. Did he take them that lightly?

"When I see him he is minced meat..." Sakura growled, seemingly barring her teeth at the ground while Sasuke watched, sweatdropping. He was a little bit more composed than his pink-haired comrade.

Sai, on the other hand, did not seem to care at all, opting to draw on his compact notebook rather than engage in any conversation with his other teammates. His fake smile still in place, he stroked effortlessly across the pages.

"Hey Sai," Sasuke called, prompting the pale boy to turn around and face him. "Want to spar? You know, kill the time?" Sasuke asked hopefully. He was no Naruto, or at least he thought, but he would make a decent partner.

"No thank you, Sasuke-san." Sai said, his smile widened as he turned back to resume his activities. Sasuke shook his head, muttering about weird artists before turning on his heel and perfecting his Uchiha Clan katas.

BACK WITH NARUTO

Naruto breathed heavily.

He was currently being pursued by Yugao who had a straight, emotionless face for the whole ordeal.

"I know where you are Naruto, come out," Yugao called, her voice flat. She turned in his direction, further proving her claim.

Deciding it was useless to try and evade her, Naruto hopped out of a high-branch tree, once again engaging in combat with the high-level shinobi.

Naruto threw a precise punch at the purple-haired woman who quickly weaved out of the way and delivered a gut-wrenching kick to the side of his stomach. Naruto quickly swallowed the vicious pain and engaged with the woman again, a quick flurry of punches erupting from his fists.

Yugao moved out of the way, completely unscathed by the blonde's whole arsenal of moves. With a mocking smile, she spoke. "Is that it, Naruto? Is this the Academy's rookie of the year? Doesn't seem like much to me. Or maybe the Academy's standards have fallen." The smile dropped off her face and made way for a stony expression.

Naruto restrained himself from yelling angrily and attacking the woman, opting to scowl. He ducked under a high kick from the former ANBU agent and his hand shot out, aiming to punch the woman in her padded chest. He quickly maneuvered out of the way as a violent right hook approached his face.

"Rah!" Naruto grunted as he surged forward, trying his hardest to grab the bells swinging on the woman's hip.

Yugao, with an amused smile playing on her face, serenely dodged the boy's attempt and cleanly chopped him in the forehead, eliciting a pained scream from the demon container.

"At this rate, you will never grab the bells, let alone prove your strength," Yugao said, her voice stony. In all honesty, she preferred if the boy did not pass. She wanted to go back to her old life, which was at least semi-normal and did not include mentoring unstable powerhouses.

"Shut up.." Naruto muttered, his face hidden by blonde bangs. His body shook and the earth beneath him shook even greater. Violent tremors wracked the earth as Naruto's form gathered power.

'Oh?' Yugao, thought, intrigued. She had a fair idea of what it was that the boy was doing, but she had never seen it done like this. 'It seems the Nine-Tails has lent him some chakra. He couldn't have done this on his own.'

Naruto's form continued to tremor. A violent red aura surged around his frame and his hair spun wildly. His whiskers darkened considerably and his eyes were slits, leaving behind no trace of the former Naruto.

"Think you can win now, sensei?" Naruto asked sadistically, cracking his knuckles and charing at the woman. She spun around to dodge the boy's fist, being slightly knicked by it on impact.

'Fast.' Yugao internalized, her face shocked at the speed displayed by the boy who was struggling to keep up with her just minutes ago. 'I have to put an end to this, and fast!'

Naruto continued to barrage the former ANBU agent with punches senselessly. As she continued to dodge the flurry of demonic punches, a kunai was flung towards the strings holding the bells to her hip and tore through them like butter. With a clank, the bells were on the floor.

Naruto hastily scooped them up before backflipping to maintain distance between Yugao. The red aura around him died down before he slowly started to lose consciousness...

WITH TEAM 7

It had been at least two hours and their sensei had still not shown. Sakura looked just about ready to murder the whole village, Sasuke was getting increasingly angry, yet did not cease his kata training. Sai, of course, was coloring in his book like an infant, a fake smile plastered on his pale face.

"Where is that bastard!" Sakura screamed, grabbing a chunk of her pink hair in frustration at her 'sensei's' repeated tardiness.

"Right on time!" Kakashi chirped, his eye crinkling as he appeared in the center of the grounds, smoke remaining from his flashy entrance.

"Are you fucking serious?" Sasuke hissed, his eyes burning into the form of his 'sensei.' "Right on time?! Your late by two hours!" He finished, grabbing at his hair in frustration, not unlike what his other teammate did a little while ago.

"Oh, I guess I overslept," Kakashi said lamely, letting a pleasant smile appear under his black mask. "Well, at least Sai is happy. Right, Sai?" Sai nodded. "Attaboy. Anyways, today's the big day, the genin exams!" The three stared at him waiting to elaborate. So he did. Pulling out a pair of bells, he began his explanation. "These are the bells that will be used for the test. All three of you will try to obtain these bells, the odd one out will be excluded and sent back to the Academy." Kakashi finished, reattaching the bells to his waist.

"So one person goes?" Sai muttered, already formulating what to do during the test.

Sasuke and Sakura's expressions darkened considerably 'Only two succeed? I'll make sure that's me!' The two thought in sync.

"Well, without further ado, let's begin..." Kakashi said, opening his orange book and flipping through the pages with gusto, earning deadpans from each one of his hidden students.

'Well, at least they know to hide. The problem is, they suck at doing it.' Kakashi internalized before making his way to the easiest target, Sakura.

"Hi," Kakashi said, tapping on the shoulder of the pinkette. She was startled but turned nevertheless. Her expression fierce, she began to engage the gray-haired jonin in combat.

Sakura began the fray with a right hook aimed at the man's temple, which was easily evaded. She then followed up with a haymaker that was blocked soundly and then it was time for Kakashi to begin his assault. Aiming precisely at the girl's large forehead, he jutted his hand out and the two forces made an impact.

Grabbing her cranium painfully, Sakura stepped backward, unable to cope with the force that the Jonin exerted on her forehead. Another violent tremor surged through her body as Kakashi delivered a stunning kick toward her leg, sweeping her off the ground.

"Headhunter Jutsu!" The Jonin called out before hoisting her down to the ground and leaving only her head exposed.

Sakura shrieked as the man left her there to rot, her mind spinning wildly.

WITH SASUKE

Kakashi appeared in front of the Uchiha boy, startling him greatly. "'Well, if it isn't second place in the Academy' Uchiha, what brings you here?" He goaded the raven-haired boy, and it clearly worked.

"Second place?!" Sasuke roared before dashing toward the Jonin who pocketed his orange book. "I'll show you!" Sasuke retorted angrily, twisting his body at an awkward angle before lining up a punch and-

Kakashi blocked it with his thumb. "Yes, second place." He said, his eyes crinkling in an eye smile before he kicked the boy in the gut, sending him flying in the beautiful, blue sky. He followed up with a speedy punch to the returned boy's face, only to be shocked when it was caught.

Sasuke weaved hastily between the Jonin's punches, having trouble trying to decipher which way to move in order to avoid the dangerous punches. 'So this is a Jonin, huh?' Sasuke thought, seriously impressed at the man's skill.

Sasuke pivoted his body before unleashing a torrent of fists toward Kakashi's bored frame. Of course, they were all caught and sent back to him. "This is it? I expected more from Itachi's younger brother..."

Sasuke growled before rushing the man's uninterested form. He cocked his fist back and with speed he did not know he was capable of, socked him straight in his cheek. The Jonin was sent backward slightly, rubbing his cheek lightly.

"Color me impressed, Sasuke," Kakashi muttered to the happiness of Sasuke. Of course, that elation was short-lived as Kakashi delivered a round-house kick toward the boy's face, knocking him out cold.

"Promising indeed..."

WITH SAI

He watched as Sasuke and Sakura were dispatched almost effortlessly and knew his fate would be the same. Something had to change. He began to ponder why there were only two bells, yet there were three teammates. Suddenly, it all made sense to him. The bells were only there as a separator, to disband the team and make them splinter.

The true purpose of the exam was to exhibit teamwork. Something they had not done at all. Great.

"I guess I have to inform them," Sai said, his form already set on their trails before something stopped him.

Dropping down in front of him was none other than Kakashi.

"I'm afraid you won't be informing anyone of anything..."

Sakura and Sasuke grumbled as they felt themselves struggle against the wood poles that held them tightly. Sai was sitting down between them, his hands full with a box of food.

"Now, I have decided to give you all one more chance to obtain these bells from me," Kakashi said, then, his tone become serious. "That chance will occur in the afternoon, until then, Sai, do not feed them or else." His form disappeared and left the three genin alone.

As soon as he was out of sight, Sai offered to feed his teammates, much to their shock and confusion. "I garnered that the test is about teamwork and that we need to fight together. There is no use in any of you if you are starved."

Seeing no flaws in their strange teammate's plan, they indulged and began to eat his food.

As they ate, thunderclouds ravaged the skies and rainwater saturated the grass. Bolts of lightning flew downwards and wind blew heavily around the area. "W-what the?!" Sasuke exclaimed, shocked at the rapid, unprecedented change.

"What's going on?!" Sakura inquired, also shocked at the change of events.

Sai narrowed his eyes.

Out came one Kakashi Hatake. "Sai, what did I say would happen if you fed him..." He warned dangerously.

Shamefully, Sai responded. "We would all fail."

"Correct. Under my jurisdiction," With a heavy heart, the genin waited to hear the inevitable. "You all pass!"

Alright guys, genin exams are over, and big stuff coming in the next chapters. Also, I know you guys might be tired of Naruto's frequent blackouts after bouts of using the Nine-Tail's chakra, but he is still unstable, evil, and young. He is not fit for the chakra yet and as he grows older under Yugao's tutilage, he will be able to utilize it with no problems.
