"I love you"
They were three short words, but they hit Crow like a freight train. Beast Girl had a habit of flirting with hero, villain and civilian alike, so the many times he was the recipient never meant anything in his mind. To hear this caught him completely off guard.
He quickly pulled his hood up to conceal his blush and the sound of a light fixture bursting into shards signaled a brief spike in emotion.
Crow was grateful that the broken light further hid his face.
Beast Girl stared at the splotchy blackness that she could now just barely make out to be his face very timidly. She waited for several seconds to hear a response.
After a long and awkward silence, Crow responded:"I have no interest in romance at present. Especially not with the annoying, hyperactive and not impossibly autistic girl of the team".
Beast Girl would've been heartbroken, if she couldn't tell Crow was lying through his teeth. She responded by faking a pout and timidly saying "Oh...okay then" as she slowly closed the door and forced out a single fake tear.
Gabby entered the commons room and hopped over the couch into a stretch out position with her entire body on the couch.
Cyborg glanced at her and said "You're lucky you're a human paperweight or I'd be pissed at you for doing that."
"Well then I guess it's a good thing I am. What are you playing anyway?"
"Cut the small talk, Gabby, I heard you're little conversation with Crow"
She blushed and said "Nosy much? And can we not talk about that? I'd rather not think of him right now" with a fake distressed undertone in her voice
Cyborg gave her a sympathetic look and said "Fine, and if you still want to know I'm playing Hitman Blood Money."
A few seconds passed with no responses, then Cyborg glanced around the room to find that Gabby had vanished.
Gabby knocked on Starfire's door. She opened it and calmly asked "Greetings friend, how went your approach of Friend Crow?"
Gabby looked to both ends of the hallway and said "Star, let me come in, we need to talk in private".
Starfire replied "As you wish" and let Gabby enter room. Once the door was shut Gabby said "Alright, he denied it but now I'm one-hundred-percent certain that he's into me".
"You believe Crow was untruthful when he rejected your romantic advance? Why?".
"He pulled his hood up to hide his face going red, and I think he deliberately exploded the light in the hallway to hide it even more".
Starfire contemplated Gabby's words.
"Perhaps you are right, when me and Crow switched bodies I discovered that strong emotions can cause unintended damage to the physical world. It's likely your confession of love to Crow was the cause of the light breaking. I still do not think it is wise to continue pursuing Crow against his wishes".
"Pfft. For such a built guy he sure is shy. I'll get to him sooner or later".
Starfire gave a slight nod. "If you insist"
Robin parked his cycle in an alleyway and looked entranced by his own thoughts. He was suddenly startled by Gabby, in the form of a parrot, landing on his shoulder.
"Christ, Gabby, what was that for?" He asked with his heart racing.
She laughed as she flew off his shoulder and morphed into human form, then said "I've talked to the other titans about this, but I want your two cents for closure if nothing else"
Robin raised his eyebrow and asked "about?"
"About Crow. I've been crushing hard on him recently and I told him about it earlier. He brushed me off but he looked shocked and made the light in the hallway explode. Star told me that happens when he feels strong emotions. I know he's into me, but how do I get him to admit it?"
Robin sighed and replied "If Crow doesn't want to get...involved with you, that's his decision. I don't want to intrude on his privacy and honestly, you shouldn't either. Sort your issues out among yourselves, just don't let them become a hindrance to the team".
Gabby just nodded, morphed into an eagle, and flew away.
Gabby paced around her room contemplating the advice she'd given. Although it was brief she wasn't a quitter and was determined to win Crow's affection.
After an hour or two of sharp internal debate, she finally had an idea.
