If I had a nickel for everytime I encountered a mythological monster that is nicknamed after a Spider-Man villain, I'd have two. Which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice, right? I mean, first we got a harpy that was nicknamed, "The Vulture". Now, we have a (somewhat) hispanic, drug dealing manticore nicknamed "Skorpion" out in the streets.

Yeah, Manuel's a manticore. How do I know this? Well don't forget that I was into mythology way before I knew it was real. So I did a lot of research on the subject. If you don't recall what a manticore was, it's a chimera-like hybrid monster that was part-lion; part-skorpion and part-human.

I don't know why he's hispanic, though.

Maybe some manticores lived in Mexico? Wait…

"Hey, Scorpion! By any chance, are you related to the Chupacabra?" I asked as I dodge his attacks. Thanks to my new powers, my Spider-Instinct really helps me in combat. I have been dodging a lot of Scorpion's attacks from either his claws or stinger. Sam has been hanging in there as well as she continues to parry and dodge those hounds attacks. Which is kind of surprising, she doesn't have the Spider-Sense like I do. Maybe it's the result of her powers awakening?

Wait… Has she truly unlocked Ultra Instinct?!

Nah… That'd be stupid. I mean, what kind of idiotic writer would give a character such a powerful skill so early in development? And what's next, a tsundere love-interest who is a princess in disguise and an edge lord rival who's entire village was slaughtered?

Though, it's possible that her powers awakening may have affected her body. Annabeth did say that once a demigod realizes who they are, their powers would awaken and show more often. Since Sam's a daughter of Athena, she may have already awakened her battle-skills and tactical intelligence.

"Holy crap, Stella! I'm like Kassandra and Alexios from Assassin's Creed! I'm the freaking Eagle Bearer!"

But then again, she's still Samantha Stacy, a hardcore gamer and a Otaku.

"Focus, Sam!" I said as I swung my knife at Scorpion. "How did you guys even find us?!"

"Wasn't that hard! You were using modern technology!"

"What?!" I said as I parried his claws. "What does that even mean?!"

Scorpion laughed, "They haven't told you? Demigods using modern technology tend to leave out signals that let us monsters know where you are. For example, your little speaker there brought out a strong signal to let not just me, but some of my friends as well."

Okay… that is the stupidest thing I have ever heard, but it does explain why Sam couldn't have a phone. But what about Percy and his friends?! They have phones! What, did they make it monster-proof or something? I mean, Sam watched anime on the library's computers (mostly because she doesn't have one at home) and played games in my apartment since her father refused to let her get- oh wow, that explains SO much.

And I forgot about the fight.

Scorpion does a sweep attack on the ground to make me trip, but my spidey sense told me to jump back. And so I did and landed on the wall.

"I see… so the rumors are true. You truly have the powers of Lady Arachne."

"And you're a monster that sells drugs to humans. Like, why?"

Scorpion smirked, "I like my food to have some spice to them."

Oh wow, that is dark. Remember kids, if a stranger offers you weird products, don't take them. He may be a monster who prefers his food to have seasoning and raw.

I shot my webs at him but he dodged them. He then swung his stinger at me and dozens of nails were shot. I dodged them with the help of my web shooters and zipped upwards to get to high ground. I tried to stab him from up top, but he caught me and pushed me back.

Meanwhile, Sam is handling herself pretty well. She managed to swing out a couple of those beasts to the ground and they evaporated to dust. She only trained with that sword and broken spear for about a week but she's already a pro at it. Then again, she got some inspiration from video games and anime. Her movements and techniques have been very similar to that of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, yet I can see some original movements that she most likely came up with during training. She's strong yet agile, she jumped on one of the hounds and stabbed one from behind with her sword, then sliced another's head off.

Sam has always been amazing, but this? This is beyond amazing.

I guess being a gamer otaku has some perks, I guess?
"Still," Scorpion spoke. "I'm surprised to find you, Estelle Blofis."

"Why's that?" I asked.

"Lord Typhon has put up a bounty for your brother. Apparently, he wants him alive for a ritual."

Oh, that doesn't sound good.

"Perhaps if we capture you, he'll agree to be taken captive for your safety."

"If you think I'm letting you get us that easily, then you're surely mistaken," I said as I attempted another hit at Scorpion.

Despite this guy being a monster, he was very experienced. I can't imagine how many fights he's been in. Or worse, how many humans he ate…

Ugh, I shiver at the thought.

Scorpion launched his stinger at me, but I caught it just in time. However, that was his intention; he swung backward and launched me off my feet and toward a large crate.

I slammed toward it and left a big dent on it.

Thank the gods that the curse has given me super-human strength. I groaned in pain and tried to get up; but before I could get up, Scorpion tried to jump me. But Sam intervenes by throwing her spear at him. He dodged it though but he backed off.

Sam rushes to get between us.

"You okay, Stella?" She asked.

"Yeah, what about his friends?"

"Took care of them!"

I looked around and noticed a lot of dust near the big doors. Last time I checked, she was facing about 5 to 6 of those beasts.

"Remind me to never get on your bad side," I said.

Sam and I stood in a fighting position against Scorpion. Sam took out all of his friends while I was holding him off.

"Looks like you're outnumbered," I said.

Scorpion laughed, "Oh chica, I'm afraid we're even now."

I frowned at his reply but when I got another tingling sense, I knew something big was coming.

And I mean BIG.

"SAM!" I yelled as I heard a rumbling noise coming toward us. I pushed Sam away when all of a sudden, a loud crashing noise arrived from behind me.

BANG

The crates and wall collapsed and debris was flying everywhere. But thanks to my Spidey-sense and web shooters, I managed to dodge most of it. Keyword: most. A small brick hit my web and made me fall down to the ground as a pile of debris fell on me. Luckily it wasn't enough to kill me. Sam, luckily avoided the area and was just near the water docks.

"Stella!" She yelled.

I stood up and coughed out any dirt or smoke from my lungs to catch my breath. Sam sighs in relief as she sees me.

"Oh thank the gods!" She said, "You're okay, I was worried for- OH MY GOD! THE MINOTAUR!"

Sam gasped excitedly as I looked behind myself and saw a big buffed-up monster rising from the debris.

"I thought that was you!" Sam squealed. "Oh my gosh, I'm about to freak out!"

Yeah… the minotaur is our favorite monster for SEVERAL reasons.

"You probably get this a lot!" Sam said to the minotaur. "But I am a HUGE fan! Tale of Theseus, Chronicles of Narnia, Final Fantasy and Danmachi. You know, it's been a dream of mine to gaze upon you as you charge with murderous intent. I don't mean right now."

The bull started charging at me and Sam as she continued to ramble on. I shot a web up to the ceiling and grabbed Sam as I swung us upwards to avoid the Minotaur. Now I know that you think that it's weird, considering this is the second time we met him. But to be fair, he covered himself the first time and we were still contemplating the fact that mythology is real.

The Minotaur stopped just before he fell to docks and roared.

Sam laughed, "That is such a Minotaur thing to do!"

Irritated, I replied, "Sam! Focus! We nearly died because of him! He came in here, charging like a… rhino… oh no…" I said as Sam smirked.

"Looks like we found your villain number three. Now just three more and we got the Sinister Six."

"Sam!"

A green gooey liquid hit my web and disintegrated it. Sam and I fell and as I looked up, I saw Scorpion with his tail out.

"I didn't know manticores could do that!" I said.

He laughed, "We don't, but good ol' papa gave me a bit of an upgrade. Me, Vulture and the big guy there got one as well."

"Oh really? What did he get?" I asked, referring to the minotaur. "Extra strength?"

The minotaur growled as he turned around and faced us.

"I can speak now… Jackson."

"Huh?" I said as the minotaur spoke.

"Oh yeah, Typhon gave minotaur here intelligence."

Sam scoffed, "The ability to speak does not make one intelligent."

"Not the time for Star Wars Reference, Sam!" I said.

So here's what I know so far: The Vulture has been given sharp talon feets and bladed feathers; The Minotaur was given intelligence so he can speak and actually think (for once) and the Manticore, named the Scorpion in the streets, was given acid. All of them from Typhon, the creator of monsters.

How on earth is Percy and his friends going to beat this guy?! Not to mention that he also beat Poseidon, when he's still weakened!

If this was a story, who in their right mind would make someone THIS powerful and still not even using his full potential?!

Ugh, getting off-track, anyways, The minotaur charges at us but Sam dodged and I jumped on him. I shot my webs at his face, blinding him as he kept charging, then I used my webs to guide the minotaur back to the ocean. It's pretty much that technique Spider-man used in the game when he was fighting Rhino. Unfortunately, he stopped, grabbed me and threw me to the ground. He ripped off the web and threw a fist towards me. I dodged just in time before his fist slammed the ground, leaving a crater there.

Sam was having difficulties fighting Scorpion. She doesn't have a shield with her and only has her broken spear since she dropped her sword with her in the debris. Scorpion was being relentless with his claws and stingers that all Sam can do is dodge.

If only Piccolo can see us now.

Anyways, as Sam deals with Scorpion, I am dealing with the big guy. Now, since Danmachi is also my favorite anime (It's really good by the way, despite the fanservice), I know a thing or two about minotaurs, especially ones that can think.

"Okay, big guy, listen," I said. "I get that you're angry and such, but can we talk about this?"

The minotaur roared, "He hurt me! So I hurt him!"

"Who?"

"JACKSON!" He threw a punch at me but I dodged it and made him hit a pillar instead. I forgot that Percy fought the minotaur twice in his life; and won too. So, I guess he was a sore loser?

"You smell like him!" He yelled. "HE HURT ME!"

The minotaur and Percy must really have a bad relationship.

Probably ain't the only one either.

He keeps trying to crush me with his fists but thanks to my spider abilities, I am able to dodge most of his attacks. Most though, apparently now that he has an intelligent mind, he seems to be thinking. Now of course, he JUST got intelligence so he's still within toddler level. But he is gaining some smarts. He threw another punch to the ground and jumped to dodge it, but he thought ahead and grabbed my leg just as I dodged. He then threw me toward Sam and we both crashed toward a corner.

I groaned in pain as I got up.

"You alright, Sammy?" I asked.

"Yeah," Sam replied. "Shame the minotaur isn't friendly. He could've gone pro in baseball."

On that we can agree.

Sam and I are cornered by the dynamic duo. Not Batman and Robin, Scorpion and the Minotaur.

"You're outmatched, chica," Scorpion said. "And there's no one around to save you, princessa!"

Sam and I readied weapons for their attack. But I noticed a loud rumbling heading this way. The monsters heard it too and were confused.

What's weird is that my Spidey-senses weren't tingling.

CRASH

A huge animal burst from the walls and rammed toward Scorpion to an opened crate. The minotaur lost focus toward us and was about to head to face the animal. And wouldn't you believe it, it's a freaking rhino. I don't know if this is just coincidental or just fate playing a sick joke on me. But anyways, The Minotaur was unaware about the giant water tentacles that were arriving from behind him. They clasped onto him tightly and dragged him toward the ocean. The Minotaur tries to break free but since it's water, he can't seem to get a grasp on it. Meanwhile, the crate where Scorpion was rammed into started to crumble downward from a crack on the earth that started to appear. The entrance inside the crate was starting to be blocked as it sank downwards to the ground.

Sam sighs in relief.

"Looks like we're safe," she said.

Suddenly, the Rhino started to morph and became human. Specifically, Frank.

"Oh… nevermind," Sam said.

Hazel and Annabeth arrived from the same entrance Frank made as he burst in unannounced.

And guess who brought the water tentacles?

Arriving from sea-side was my very irritated older brother, Percy Jackson, riding a black pegasus.

"I'll take it back," Sam said. "We're so dead."

Author's Note:

Hi everyone, hoped you enjoy that, there will be some more action-pack scenes later on but for now, the next chapter will be with more dialogues (and family drama). But there will be a couple more action chapters before we get to my favorite part of the story I really want to write. I do like to apologize if the scenes seem to fast-pace; it's been a while since I read a PJO book and I can't recall if the fight scenes were long or short. I'm doing my best to keep it the same as the books yet keeping it to my writing style.

Also, regarding with the Minotaur talking for the first time, I do not recall if he truly ever had the ability to speak in the past, but in this story, all three monsters received abilities to be a challenge against Percy and his friends. How they got it will be explained later on in the story.

Thank you for reading my story, leave a like and comment if you want and I will see you all in the next update.
