CHAPTER 3

Viridian Forest

Route 2

After taking their leave of Viridian City, Caleb, Aria, Pikachu and Felicity have started to make their way to Pewter City. In order to do that, first, they must venture through the Viridian Forest. Aria was holding her Pokédex closely.

"Hard to believe we're Pokémon Trainers. I hope I get to catch more Pokémon like the adorable ones or those ones with gender differences, Caleb." Aria said.

"Me too, Aria." Caleb said.

Just then they heard the sound of flapping and they turned to see a Spearow.

"Luckily this one is not from those Pokémon Hunters." Caleb said with relief and determination.

"As we remember, the key to catching a wild Pokémon is to weaken it in battle before catching it."

*BATTLE! WILD POKÉMON KANTO (POKÉMON HEART GOLD/SOUL SILVER)*

Then Caleb took out a Pokéball.

"Go! Pidgey!" He called his Pokémon and the Pokéball opened and his Pidgey came out to battle and Spearow turned and saw Pidgey fly at it. "Tackle!"

Pidgey flew right at Spearow, landing a Tackle but Spearow then came and pecked at Pidgey.

"That was Peck!" Aria said.

"Eevee!" Felicity added.

"Okay, Pidgey! Use Sand Attack!" Caleb commanded and Pidgey flapped his wings in the ground sending sand at Spearow's eyes. "Okay, use Tackle again!"

Pidgey flew right at Spearow, landing a hit but Spearow pecked Pidgey again.

"Use Roost!" Caleb instructed his Pidgey who landed on the ground as some feather appeared spinning around the bird Pokémon and restored his energies. "Now Tackle, one more time!"

Pidgey lands a Tackle on Spearow which was a critical hit.

"Okay, Spearow looks soft enough, so time for the moment of truth!" Caleb said before taking out a Pokéball and threw it.

It struck Spearow and it flowed inside, the Pokéball wobbling around and around until stars swirled around the Pokéball to confirm the catch and Caleb picked up the Pokéball and held it.

*ENDS*

"I have another Pokémon with me!" He said.

"Wow, that was amazing!" Aria said with awe.

"Eevee, vee!" Felicity added.

"Okay, it's your turn." Caleb told Aria.

"Okay." Aria nodded.

Then she looked around for a Pokémon to catch, her search came to an end when she spotted a Pokémon body, beady red eyes, a small mouth, and ovoid feet, five large, green leaves sprouting from its head, then she pointed her Pokédex at the Pokémon.

Oddish, the Weed Pokémon

Type: Grass/Poison

Oddish buries its sensitive body in the ground during the day to avoid the sun and fool predators. If its leaves are pulled in this state, it will respond by shrieking horribly. It starts to move when its leaves begin absorbing moonlight, which it uses to grow.

"Must have woken up because she's thirsty, but she's really cute." Aria said before turning to Felicity. "Okay, Felicity. Better get ready?"

"Eevee." Felicity nodded.

*BATTLE! WILD POKÉMON KANTO (POKÉMON HEART GOLD/SOUL SILVER)*

"Go for it!" Aria said and Felicity stood before Oddish. The Weed Pokémon turned and saw her. "Okay Felicity, use Tackle!"

Felicity runs towards Oddish but shrieks and dodges her, Felicity tumbles but she gets back up.

"Tackle again!" Aria said and Felicity ran and this time landed a hit on Oddish.

She fell backwards, and she got back up and released two red beams from the leaves on the side of her body at Felicity and when it hit her, the Eevee's body glows red and Oddish absorbs her energy and Oddish heals from her previous damage.

"That was Absorb! Okay Felicity, this time use Quick Attack!" Felicity said and Felicity performed a quick version of the Tackle landing a hit on Oddish. "Now Shadow Ball!"

Felicity launches a sphere of ghostly energy and lands a hit onto Oddish, then Aria takes out a Pokéball and throws it. Oddish flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around until stars swirl around the Pokéball to confirm the catch.

"Wow, I caught another Pokémon!"

"Congratulations, Aria." Caleb said. "You should feel proud."

"Well, it's because we started our journey the same day." Aria said and Caleb smiled.

Pikachu praised Felicity for her battling skills, the Eevee couldn't help but blush.

"Shall we keep going?" Caleb asked.

"Okay." Aria nodded.

Just when they were taking off, they saw a small, round, pink Pokémon who has short limbs and a swirl on its forehead. Its large eyes are red and have pupils and also has a rounded tuft of fur on its head. The blue-haired girl pointed her Pokédex at the little Pokémon.

Igglybuff, the Balloon Pokémon

Type: Normal/Fairy

Instead of walking with its short legs, it moves around by bouncing on its soft, tender body.

"Igglybuff. Such a cutie!" Aria said with heart-shaped pupils before turning to Felicity. "Wanna keep going?"

"Vee." Felicity nodded.

"Go get her." Aria said and her Eevee ran towards Igglybuff, ready to battle. "Use Quick Attack!"

Felicity runs and rams into Igglybuff who comes and hits Felicity with her hand.

"Swift!" Aria said and Felicity tackled Igglybuff again. "Now Quick Attack!"

Felicity lands another Quick Attack and Aria takes out a Pokéball and throws it. Igglybuff flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around and Stars swirl around the Pokéball to confirm the catch.

"And I got Igglybuff!" Aria said in triumph.

"Yeah, two in a row! You're on fire!" Caleb said.

"Yeah! Now I have five Pokémon, we are amazing!" Aria said and she began to hug him, causing Caleb to blush but he felt how soft she is, and he liked it but she realized she hugged him. "I'm sorry, Caleb. I got too excited."

"It's okay, Aria." Caleb said, kept on blushing. "Man, she's so cute."

"We should keep going. Viridian Forest is just ahead, isn't it?" Aria pointed out.

"You're right. We should keep going." Caleb said before continuing.

Viridian Forest

They entered Viridian Forest and they looked around.

"So, this is Viridian Forest. Ever been here before?" Caleb asked.

"Just on camping trips with my dad." Aria replied before asking. "You?"

"First time. You know your way around this place?" Caleb asked.

"Not really. I only came here once, and that's it." Aria said. "But I would like to look around. How about you?"

"I sure would, Aria. We might find some Pokémon to catch while we're here." Caleb said.

With that said, they kept their eyes open for any Pokémon and they stopped when Caleb spotted a familiar caterpillar-like Pokémon.

"A Caterpie!" Caleb took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Caterpie, the Worm Pokémon

Type: Bug

Caterpie has a voracious appetite. It can devour leaves bigger than its body right before your eyes. From its antenna, this Pokémon releases a terrifically strong odor.

"I hate to find out what that odor smells like." Caleb said and he took out a Pokéball. "Go! Spearow!"

*BATTLE! WILD POKÉMON KANTO (POKÉMON HEART GOLD/SOUL SILVER)*

He threw it and Spearow emerged from inside.

"Okay Spearow, use Peck!" Caleb said and Spearow flew at Caterpie and pecked at the caterpillar. "Keep using Peck!"

Spearow pecked at Caterpie, it was super effective and Caterpie was weak enough and Caleb threw a Pokéball at Caterpie. The Worm Pokémon flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around until stars swirl around the Pokéball to confirm the catch.

"And I got myself a Caterpie." Caleb said as Spearow flew back to his trainer and perched on his shoulder.

"Lucky you, Caleb." Aria said as Caleb turned to her. "You got such a cute Pokémon."

"You think Caterpie is cute?" Caleb asked.

"Of course. You remember I helped a Caterpie before, right?" Aria pointed out and Caleb saw she had a point. "Besides, ever since I was little, I always liked Caterpie. I like the way they walk, and the cute little sound they make. Just hearing it is just enough to give me the chills!"

Caleb chuckled, seeing how she's cute when she gets excited but rustling is heard again and then Caleb turned to see another caterpillar-like Pokémon as Caterpie but that one is brown with large stingers on both its rear and head, across its underside are small, pink nubs which it uses to move and in the head, it has two beady, black eyes above a large, pink nose.

"A Weedle." Caleb said, taking out his Pokédex.

Weedle, the Hairy Bug Pokémon

Type: Bug/Poison

Weedle has an extremely acute sense of smell. It is capable of distinguishing its favorite kinds of leaves from those it dislikes just by sniffing with its big red proboscis nose.

"The nose knows." Caleb said before putting his Pokédex away. "Spearow battled enough, so it's Pidgey's turn."

He took out Pidgey's Pokéball and threw it and Pidgey came out to battle.

"Use Tackle!" Caleb commanded and then Pidgey used Tackle hitting Weedle but then Pidgey charged energy from his wings and fired circular razor-like energy blades hitting Weedle. "That move was Air Cutter!"

Despite Weedle being struck by a super effective move, Weedle fought back by shooting multiple darts of purple poison from its stinger from its head.

"Watch out for that Poison Sting!" Caleb said Pidgey manages to dodge by flying upwards. "Use Sand-Attack and end with Tackle!"

Pidgey used Sand Attack and covered Weedle in it and tackled Weedler and then Caleb took out a Pokéball and threw it. Weedle flows inside and the Pokéball wobbles around and around and stars swirl around the Pokéball to confirm the catch.

"And Weedle makes 6!" Caleb said Pidgey perched on his shoulder. "Good work, Pidgey."

He then calls Pidgey back inside before turning to see Aria.

"Any luck, Aria?" He asked her.

"Can't say that I have any." Aria said. "But we could have a stroll in the woods, and see the sights."

"Sure." Caleb replied with a smile.

Then Caleb, Aria, Pikachu and Felicity had a stroll through the forest and they walked around for hours. Meanwhile, Team Rocket are traveling in a cardboard vehicle. They've been searching for Caleb and Pikachu the whole time they've been in Viridian Forest. Meowth is sitting on top while they're moving.

"I'm tired." James complained.

"Stop whining, James!" Jessie snapped at him.

"But Jessie, why are we dragging this stupid tank around?" James asked.

"It's to protect us from Beedrill." Jessie told him. "The stings from Beedrill are really painful. And also, they're poisonous."

"Hey down there! Quit chattering!" Meowth called to them. "Get a move on!"

"What are you doing up there, anyway?" Jessie asked.

"Why don't you come down here and help us out?" James also asked.

"I can't for two reasons." Meowth told the two humans. "One: I'm not tall enough. And two: someone should keep a lookout!"

"Well lookout for this!" Both Jessie and James moved the tank making Meowth fall off, causing the feline Pokémon to start chasing after them.

"Hey, wait a second! Don't leave without me! What if those Beedrill show up!?" Meowth shouted. "Make one little comment, and suddenly, you get dumped off like trash."

Later that night, Caleb, Aria, Pikachu and Felicity made a stop to rest. They had let out two Pidgey, two Rattata, Spearow, Caterpie, Weedle, Oddish, and Igglybuff just so they could eat the apples Caleb and Aria had picked earlier.

"Eat up, guys." Caleb said.

The Pokémon began to eat the apples provided to them, even the Rattata and Pidgey couples shared their apples, and they didn't waste any time wolfing them down; Caterpie and Weedle especially.

"They have such healthy appetites." Aria said.

"Well, they're entitled to one since they had a busy day." Caleb said as Aria went to her backpack and pulled out a couple of sandwiches.

"Not exactly a hearty dinner, but it's better than nothing." Aria said.

"Anything you've got is fine." Caleb said, taking one of the sandwiches, he unwrapped the plastic and took a bite.

"Caleb, I would like to know. What was your dad like? I mean, from how your mom told you." Aria said as Caleb looked at her. "I'm sorry if I'm being insensitive, but I would like to know."

"My dad was a great guy, from what my mom said. She would tell me that he made her laugh, and smile. I remember she told us about that one time, he went through a pack of Houndour just to find materials to make her a present for her birthday." Caleb said.

"He must be a romantic person." Aria said.

"From what I heard, you're right. She loved him more than anything. Even after he died, she stayed loyal to him." Caleb said.

"You mean, your mom never thought of remarrying?" Aria asked.

"She never wanted anyone else. My dad was one-of-a-kind. Nobody would make her smile like he could." Caleb said and Aria smiled.

"I would like to meet him if he was alive." Aria said.

"Yeah." Caleb said before looking up to the sky.

"Also, how well do you know Daisy and Professor Oak?" Aria asked. "The reason I'm asking that is because I got a feeling of how close you seem. It made it look like you're family."

"Professor Oak's family have been very good to us for a long time; my mom especially. Professor Oak loved my mom like she was his own daughter. He's been like a grandpa to me. As for Daisy, she babysat me and Karen when we were little and also I have a big brother." Caleb said.

"Do you have a big brother?" Aria asked with curiosity.

"Yeah, his name is Luke, he decided to go on his journey as a Pokémon Trainer just like me." Caleb explained.

"Wow, it's hard to believe it." Aria said.

"Yeah." Caleb said before changing the subject. "And as for Gary."

"Who's Gary?" Aria asked.

"Just someone who I knew. And that someone is Professor Oak's grandson, but you got that figured out. He started out on his journey the same as another kid I knew since I was little. A girl named Leaf. Gary always gave me a hard time, but Leaf was cool with me." Caleb said.

"She must be a great friend." Aria said.

"Oh, she is. Also, Leaf will like you. I don't know about Gary, though." Caleb said.

"What do you mean?" Aria asked.

"You would have to meet him to know what I mean, Aria. And hopefully, it's not going to be for a while." Caleb said, making Aria to smile. "But there was one thing I wanted to ask you, but I didn't get the chance to."

"What?" Aria asked.

"Are you sure your mom and dad are okay with you being out here with me?" Caleb asked.

"I'm sure. And I don't regret my decision one bit. Also, I know I can feel safe with you around." Aria said and Caleb smiled again.

"Aria." Caleb said and she looked into his eyes. "Just so you know, I promise to protect you as best as I can."

"Caleb, I don't want you to put yourself in harm's way because of me." Aria said.

"I made up my mind the same as you, Aria." Caleb said. "You did say you know you can feel safe with me, didn't you?"

"Yes, I did say that." Aria said. "I do appreciate it, Caleb. And I am grateful."

The two of them looked at each other for a while, unaware of the Pokémon looking at them.

"They look really cute together, don't they?" - Felicity subtitle.

"Yeah, they do." - Pikachu subtitle.

"Pikachu, I wanted to say something to you. I wanted to say, thank you for fending off those awful people last night." - Felicity subtitle.

"Why are you thanking me now?" - Pikachu subtitle.

"I didn't know how at the time, because I'm really shy. I was amazed by how you electrocuted them, and when you shocked those awful Spearow and those Pokémon Hunters." - Felicity said and this caught the attention of Spearow.

"What do you mean 'Pokémon Hunters'?" - Spearow subtitle.

"Pokémon Hunters, bad people who hunt Pokémon for money." - Felicity subtitle.

"Surely those people look like monsters?" - Caterpie subtitle but then Pikachu and Felicity looked at the Worm Pokémon with shocked expressions.

"You saw them?" - Pikachu subtitle.

"Yes, before arriving here, I had to use String Shot and use it to advance from tree to tree to avoid getting captured." - Caterpie subtitle.

"I wasn't going to say anything, but I saw them, too. I barely managed to escape those Pokémon Hunters, in the same way as Caterpie." - Weedle subtitle.

"This is scary." - Igglybuff subtitle.

"You've said it. I'm shaking so hard, my leaves are gonna fall off." - Oddish subtitle.

"Rattata and I were inside, and we don't know that much." - Caleb's Pidgey subtitle.

"Pikachu and Felicity are the Pokémon to turn to for information." - Aria's Rattata subtitle.

"You saw them before. How did you get away from them?" - Spearow subtitle.

"When I was Pichu I was chased by two Pokémon Hunters and that was how I ended up meeting Caleb, however years later two of them appeared, and I could bet more of them will appear." - Pikachu subtitle.

"I got ya." - Spearow subtitle.

A yawn is heard and they turn to see Caleb stretching his arms.

"Time for bed. We should keep going first thing in the morning." Caleb said.

"I'm getting rather sleepy myself." Aria said.

Caleb and Aria unrolled their sleeping bags and went in. Pikachu, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Caterpie and Weedle went up to Caleb as Felicity, Pidgey, Rattata, Oddish and Igglybuff went to Aria. They all fell right to sleep, the sounds of crickets chirping filled the air as the moon shines brightly. Caleb fell right to sleep and started snoring, Aria woke up, startled, and she saw it was only Caleb, she looked at him and she smiled, finding Caleb so cute when he's asleep and the same for the Pokémon, then she returned back to sleep.

The next morning, Aria woke up and gave a light yawn. She looked over to Caleb and saw he was still asleep. She remembered an old trick her mom did to her dad when they were dating. She shushed her Pokémon and tiptoed to Caleb and she stood above his head. He then woke up and saw Aria staring back at him.

"WHOA!" Caleb exclaimed in shock, waking up Pikachu, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Caterpie, and Weedle. He looked right at Aria and she giggled. "Gimme a break, Aria."

"Sorry for waking you up like that. I just couldn't resist." Aria said as Caleb blushed, because he was happy Aria's face was the first thing she saw.

"I bet you couldn't." Caleb said and then they rustling in the bushes is heard.

*BOSS BATTLE (POKÉMON RUMBLE)*

They turned to see something move from the grass. It turns out to be rodent-like Pokémon, similar to Pikachu, but Unlike Pikachu, which both have yellow fur, it has orange fur with two strips of brown fur on its back, it has long ears and feet, but has little stubby arms with no noticeable fingers, also has yellow electrical sacs on its cheeks, and a plump white belly, the tips of its arms and toes are brown, the soles of its feet are tan-colored and the paw pads on the undersides are yellowish orange and also have a long, thin, black tail that ends in a large lightning bolt shape.

"Is that…?" Caleb took out his Pokédex and scanned it.

Raichu, the Mouse Pokémon

The evolved form of Pikachu

Type: Electric

Its electric charges can reach even 100,000 volts. Careless contact can cause even a Copperajah to faint.

"Thought so. That's what Pikachu can evolve into." Caleb said.

"Pika." Pikachu said.

Raichu then charged at the kids and Pokémon but they ducked out of the way.

"Hey, cut that out!" Caleb yelled.

"Rai!" Raichu said as he unleashed his own Thunderbolt which was more powerful than the one from his pre-evolved form as Caleb ducked.

"Whoa! That Thunderbolt looked more powerful!" Caleb said.

"Pika!" Pikachu said.

"I'm okay, Pikachu. Use Thunderbolt!" Caleb commanded and his Pikachu nodded before unleashing his own Thunderbolt, but it wasn't enough to bring Raichu down.

Then Raichu unleashed Thunderbolt again, shocking Pikachu and the other Pokémon and they fell to the ground, beaten before they could fight back.

"Pikachu!" Caleb called him as Aria stepped in.

"I'll take it from here, Caleb." Aria said and she turned to her five Pokémon. "You ready, ladies?"

Felicity, Pidgey, Rattata Oddish and Igglybuff nodded.

"Then, let's go get him! Oddish! Use Acid!" Aria commanded.

Oddish releases a stream of violet acid from her mouth at Raichu but he manages to dodge.

"Pidgey, use Gust!"

Pidgey releases a gust which hits Raichu but it doesn't damage him too much.

"Igglybuff, use Pound! And Rattata, use Bite!"

Igglybuff and Rattata ran towards Raichu with both landing a hit and bite, but Raichu retaliated by pulling his fist back and then his fists and body became outlined by yellow electricity and punched both Igglybuff and Rattata, sending them back.

"That was Thunder Punch!" Aria said.

Then Raichu grabbed Pidgey and Oddish and then jumped into the air and swung his body before throwing his two opponents against Rattata and Iggybuff Both Oddish and taken down her four Pokémon.

"Oh no…!" Aria said with concern as Felicity looked at Raichu, and he looked right back at her.

"You think you can handle me, little girl? You saw what I did to your friends, and I'll do the same to you." - Raichu subtitle.

"I won't let you get away with that, you bully!" - Felicity subtitle as Raichu laughed.

"Try it, sweetheart! Just get ready to cry after I whoop you!" - Raichu subtitle.

Raichu prepared another punch, but Felicity dodged and used Quick Attack into Raichu.

"Good one, Felicity!" Aria praised but Raichu was ticked off now.

Raichu's body becomes outlined in a light blue aura and it charges at the Eevee with incredible speed and lands a hit onto Felicity.

"Use Swift!" Aria commanded and Felicity swung her tail launching stars to hit Raichu. "Now Quick Attack!"

Felicity's body becomes outlined in a light blue aura and it charges at the Mouse Pokémon with incredible speed, however Raichu wasn't willing to give up as Raichu swings around and misses with his electrical punches.

"Okay, use one more Quick Attack!" Aria commanded.

Felicity used Quick Attack on Raichu and the force of the attack was able to bring Raichu down.

Aria then took out a Pokéball and threw it, Raichu flowed inside and the Pokéball wobbled around and around until stars swirled around the Pokéball to confirm the catch.

"And I have myself a Raichu!" Aria said.

"Eevee, vee!" Felicity cheered.

"Wow, that was awesome, Aria." Caleb said, walking up to her. "You just caught your first Electric-type, and fully evolved, too."

"I know, it's amazing!" Aria said.

"Now, what are we gonna do about healing our Pokémon? They're pre beat from that brawl with Raichu." Caleb pointed out.

"Oh, I think I know what to do, Caleb. Come with me." Kairi said and Caleb followed her to a blue fruit with dark blue spots. "And here we are."

"Wow, Oran Berries. How did you know where to find these?" Caleb asked.

"My dad taught me. He's quite skilled when it comes to nature. He told me that you can find berries in any forest, depending on what you're looking for. So, those Oran Berries would help heal our Pokémon when they eat them." Aria said.

"Is that all? I can climb up and grab some." Caleb said.

Then he started to climb up the tree and plucked as many as he could before he began to lose his balance, he fell and landed in the shrubs beneath him as Aria ran towards Caleb.

"Are you okay?" Caleb asked.

"I'm fine. My mom would have killed me if she caught me climbing up." Caleb said, chuckling as Aria shook her head and let out her Pokémon along with Caleb's.

They fed their Pokémon the Oran Berries, healing them of their previous injuries.

"Feel better, guys?" Aria asked them.

"Pika." Pikachu said.

"Caleb, have you climbed a tree before? You looked like a natural." Aria said.

"Yeah, I did. My mom never liked me climbing up trees, because she always said I'd get hurt. She would be right, because I would end up falling off one, and breaking an arm or leg, or if I get stuck." Caleb explained to her while he was checking his clothes. "Also, I end up with holes in my clothes, which is another reason she disliked me climbing up. One time, I ended up with a hole in my shirt, so big, it needed an Onix to squeeze on in. And she chewed me out for ripping up my clothes. By accident of course. So, I stopped climbing trees when I got older and smarter. Plus, I didn't get any rips this time."

"And you didn't end up with broken bones either, but you could have." Aria said as Caleb chuckled nervously.

Suddenly, sinister laughter is heard, then Caleb and Aria turn to the direction of the laugh.

"We meet again." A familiar male voice said.

"Oh no." Caleb groaned. "I recognize those voices."

Much to the dismay of Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, and Angel, it was once again Team Rocket.

"Prepare for trouble!"

"And make it double!"

"To protect the world from devastation!"

"To unite all peoples within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend our reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!"

"James!"

"Oh brother…!" Caleb said, rolling his eyes as the Rocket Trio rolled his eyes.

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"

"Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"

"Meowth! That's right!"

Three smoke bombs explode in the background with the smoke being orchid, green, and yellow.

"What do you guys want now?" Caleb asked, not being interested. "Don't tell me it's my lunch money or something."

"We don't want your lunch money." Jessie sneered. "We want your Pokémon!"

"Hand over that Pikachu." James said with him and Jessie pointing at Pikachu.

"No way!" Caleb said definitely. "This is my Pikachu! If you want one, then go find your own!"

"We have our sights on that Pikachu." Jessie said.

"So, we're here to take that Pikachu from you." James said.

"Seriously? I don't even know you three, and you wanna take my Pikachu from me? Why?" Caleb asked.

"Why? Because we're bad guys, that's why." James said.

"And we do what bad guys do best!" Jessie said.

"Hey, are ya gonna talk, or are we gonna swipe Pikachu?" Meowth asked.

"We're going to do that!" Jessie said, taking out a Pokéball.

"And that's what we're gonna do!" James said, doing the same.

"Go! Ekans!" Jessie called out.

"Go! Koffing!" James added.

The Pokéballs open and Ekans and Koffing emerge from inside.

"Ekansssss." Ekans hissed.

"Koffing." Koffing said.

"Koffing, use Sludge on Pikachu!" James ordered.

Koffing fires large balls of sludge from its mouth at Pikachu, hitting him in the face.

"Hey, that's play dirty!" Caleb barked.

"That's how we play, you twerp." Jessie said.

"I can bet that you don't even wash your hands after using the bathroom." Caleb joked.

"We may be the bad guys, it doesn't mean we don't care about personal hygiene!" James hissed at him as Caleb turned to see Spearow.

*BATTLE! TRAINER (POKÉMON LET'S GO PIKACHU/EEVEE)*

"Okay, Spearow, you're up!" Caleb said.

"I'm with you, Caleb!" Aria said, stepping beside him. "And I'm going with Oddish!"

The Weed Pokémon stepped in as well.

"We might as well make this a double battle." Aria said and Caleb knew this was going to be his very first battle, but he never thought it would be with his crush.

Aria smiled and nodded, then Caleb nodded back.

"Aria, you got the first move!" Sora said.

"With pleasure! Oddish, use Acid!" Aria commanded.

"Spearow, use Peck!" Caleb commanded.

Oddish fired Acid as Spearow flew in with Peck.

"Koffing, use Tackle on Spearow!" James ordered.

"Ekans, use Wrap on Oddish!" Jessie ordered.

Koffing tackled into Spearow as Ekans wrapped its body around Oddish.

"Oddish, use Sweet Scent!" Aria commanded.

Then Oddish releases a pink powder from her leaves, causing Ekans to take a whiff and smile warmly, loosening its grip on Oddish.

"Now, use Absorb!" Aria commanded and Oddish began to sap into Ekans's energy, healing herself even if it does little damage.

"Spearow, use Peck on Ekans!" Caleb commanded.

Spearow flew at the snake Pokémon to peck.

"Ekans, use Bite!" Jessie ordered.

Ekans lands a bite onto Spearow.

"Koffing, use Tackle on Oddish!" James ordered.

Koffing tackled right into the Weed Pokémon and both Pokémon were being brought down hard.

"It looks like it's all over." Jessie said.

Caleb growled, but then Caterpie and Weedle jumped in front of Spearow and Oddish.

"Caterpie, Weedle, what are you doing?!" Caleb shouted.

Then Caterpie and Weedle shoot a stream of white thread from their mouths at the Team Rocket Pokémon and they are completely wrapped up with string.

"It isn't what I had in mind, but I'll take it!" Caleb said.

"Me too!" Kairi said.

"Okay, Caterpie, use Tackle!" Caleb commanded.

Caterpie ran and landed a hit on Koffing, sending it right up to Ekans and both were taken out as Jessie and James gasped.

"Okay, time to sharpen my claws on you little grubs!" Meowth said.

But before he could attack Weedle fired Poison Sting, making Meowth dance; they were aimed at his feet.

"String Shot again!" Caleb commanded.

Caterpie and Weedle wrapped Meowth up into a big ball of silk, leaving his head on top and the same thing with Jessie and James.

"Okay, Pidgey! Send them flying with Gust!" Caleb commanded and Pidgey flapped his wings, kicking up a wind, sending Team Rocket flying in the air.

"Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket shouted as they went flying in the distance and a star twinkled when they got there.

"What a great save, guys. Your hearts were in the right place." Caleb said, Caterpie and Weedle both smiled but then they started to move around. "What's the matter with you two? You okay?"

Caterpie and Weedle both started to glow very brightly, Caleb and Aria were awestruck to what was happening.

"Caterpie and Weedle are evolving!" Aria said.

They were awestruck to witness Pokémon evolution with their own eyes. Caterpie has become an insect-like Pokémon with an appearance similar to that of a green-colored chrysalis, his eyes are still clearly visible and they appear to be dazed, drowsy, or angry for some reason while Weedle has become an insect-like Pokémon with an appearance similar to that of a yellow chrysalis and he has jet black eyes.

Caleb and Aria scanned each one of them. The boy pointed it at the green cocoon Pokémon and the pointed it at the yellow cocoon.

The shell covering this Pokémon's body is as hard as an iron slab. Metapod does not move very much. It stays still because it is preparing its soft innards for evolution inside the hard shell.

Kakuna remains virtually immobile as it clings to a tree. However, on the inside, it is extremely busy as it prepares for its coming evolution. This is evident from how hot the shell becomes to the touch.

"Wow, so that's how they evolve. It's even more awesome than I thought." Caleb said.

"Me too, Caleb. It won't be long until they evolve again." Aria said.

"Pika, Pika." Pikachu said.

"Eevee." Felicity said.

It was a sight to behold. Not only did they catch additional Pokémon, but they also witnessed Pokémon evolution for the first time ever. Things will become more and more interesting with each passing time.
