Barked
Chapter 9: A Paw-some Date just went to the Dogs
Cujo and Fifi were still enjoying their stroll together.
They had tried to find something to play with, but decided to just go for a walk for now.
"You having a good time, Fifi?..."Cujo asked, and the female dog agreed.
"Yes, I am. Very much..."Fifi said, meaning it.
"I'm happy to hear about that. Otherwise, this wouldn't be as much fun for me..."Cujo said, happy to know that she is having a good time.
However, as the two pooches walked, they noticed something from afar. It was Axiom Labs, but one of the dogs didn't know exactly what this place is.
"What's that big grey box thing?..." Fifi asked, looking at it with curiosity.
"It's... a place I've been to before..." Cujo went, stopping for a moment.
"You've been to?..." Fifi asked, wondering what that meant.
Cujo nodded.
"Yeah, I think that I used to live there, because my squeaky toy was there but-..." Cujo paused, looking at the building with a blank look on his face.
"Cujo?..."Fifi asked, but he didn't answer her.
The little green ghost dog became silent for a moment. Flashes of events went through his mind. They were fragments of his past, but they were fuzzy to say the least.
He recalled a bigger dog, likely his mother, along with a small cage. He recalled his squeaky toy at his side when the cage was opened. The last thing that he recalled was a bright light with a silhouette of a man in front of it.
The rest was fuzzy and he didn't remember much. His memories ended there before he ended up in the Ghost Zone with no idea how he ended up there.
"Who was that person I saw last? And why does he scare me?..."Cujo thought, feeling a mixture of sadness and fear right now.
"You okay?..." Fifi asked, snapping him out of his trance.
"Huh? Oh, uh... yeah. Anyway, let's keep going..."He said, feeling uncomfortable right now.
Fifi, sensing that he didn't want to talk about it, decided to leave it be and they continued walking together.
"Maybe it's better I stay away from there..."Cujo thought, as he tried to think of something else.
He didn't look back at the building, afraid to recall what that was...and who may still be in there.
A few moments later
Cujo and Fifi had passed by the lab already, feeling comfortable to talk again.
As the two kept walking, they were silent. Cujo really wanted to change the subject, and said the first thing that came to his mind.
"So...not only are you a show dog but you have your own family too?..."Cujo asked.
"Oui. I am..."Was all that Fifi said.
"Sounds nice to have a roof over your head and free meals...and a family of your own..."Cujo said, smiling until he heard a sigh from the female.
"You'd think that... but I'm so tired of being presented to other humans all the time. I miss the special time I used to have with Madame and her nice daughter. Madame only spent less time with me when she had her pup, but I soon found myself loving him too. I can't leave them, no matter how much her stuffy mate and his nasty girl are... even though I wish I could go out more without humans gawking at me like at those shows..." Fifi explained.
Cujo heard how unhappy she was and felt bad for her.
"If you don't like being a showdog so much, why don't you quit?..."He asked.
"It's not that easy. Madame's cranky mate gets all angry if I don't behave like the perfect show dog in and outside the house. And even if she loves me, I know that it would make Madame unhappy if I quit. She always looks so happy whenever I am in those silly things..."She said.
"Even if I'd much rather we just play together like she did with me when I was a puppy..."Fifi said, looking down.
Cujo could tell that she wasn't happy.
"I know that good dogs have to follow their owner's rules...and I can understand wanting to make your human happy...but what about your happiness Fifi?..."Cujo asked.
"My happiness?..."Fifi asked.
"Yes, your happiness. That matters too..."Cujo said.
The little white poodle was silent for a moment, as she tried to think over what he just said.
"To be honest, I don't know what makes me happy anymore..."Fifi answered, looking down at her paws.
"You don't?..."Cujo asked, making her think deeply.
"Well...I know that I like spending time with Madam and the little one. And I like playing with them...and I like the games that we played today. They were something I never experienced before. But the madam is usually busy right now and her cranky mate always yells at me whenever I am too close or do something that isn't up to his insanely high standards. He also doesn't like it when I play fetch with the little one, acting like that behavior is beneath my status..."Fifi said, with a look of confusion.
"Whatever that means...but I really enjoy it and wanna do it more but can't..."She said, now sounding listless and depressed.
She loves Madame but really hated Madame's mate. If anything, she didn't really pick up actual love between the two of them, just attraction that was already starting to fade but she can never communicate that with her.
Fifi was looking down now as Cujo felt sorry for her.
To say Cujo was surprised was an understatement, in his eyes he felt as if Fifi was being denied the simple pleasure of being a dog and these cranky humans wanted to make her something she was not.
"Poor Fifi. I gotta do something..."He thought, trying to brainstorm.
He then had an idea and smiled. He readied himself to leave and get it.
"This may just work out!..." He barked excitedly.
"Cujo, where are you going?..."Fifi asked.
"I'll be right back, just wait a second..."Cujo said as he left.
Fifi wondered what he was up to now. In less than a few minutes, he came back and carried something in his mouth.
It was his cute squeaky toy, which he playfully bites a few times as if to show her the appeal of it as he soon drops her at her feet. Fifi raised an eyebrow, puzzled by the noisy... thing.
"Here... try this..." Cujo said, bringing his squeaky toy.
"What's this?..." Fifi asked, as she looked at it curiously.
"My chew toy. It's something I had back when I used to... uh... not sure, but I had it then. Then my tall friend brought it back to me. If you want to try it, you can play with it too..."Cujo offered.
"Really?..."Fifi asked, pleasantly surprised by his generosity.
"Yeah... it's fun. Playing with it always cheers me up when I'm gloomy. I'm sure it will work for you too..."Cujo said cheerfully.
"Most dogs don't share squeaky toys..."Fifi commented as if stating a very known fact.
"Well, I'm not like most dogs, if you didn't notice..."Cujo said playfully.
"No, you definitely are not..."Fifi said, giggling.
She then sniffed at the squeaky toy, before she bite it. It made a squeaky sound and she was pleasantly surprised by it.
"Oh my. This is so good..."Fifi said, before biting it again.
After a few minutes of biting and squeaky toy, the female poodle sat down, still with the toy in her mouth and covered it in drool.
"Good..."Cujo said, happy that she was enjoying it.
"Really good..."Fifi said, smiling as she kept biting and squeaking it.
"So... You seem to be enjoying yourself..." Cujo said, happy that she was having such a blast with his most prized possession.
"Oh, I am..."Fifi said. "It's incredible how something so simple can bring me so much joy..."She admitted, before getting an idea.
She turned to Cujo and placed the toy before him.
"Let's do it together..."She offered.
"Really?..."Cujo asked, wagging his tail in excitement.
"Sure. It's already so much fun as it is. It will be even more fun with you..."Fifi said, making the male dog excited.
"Oh boy!..."Cujo cheered.
The two dogs took turns biting down on the chew toy, which became louder and louder the more bite force they inflicted upon it. After a long while of playfully squeezing, tugging and other playful acts, the two dogs stopped but kept the toy close to them.
"That was fun..."Fifi said happily.
"Yes, it was..."Cujo said, while Fifi smiled at him.
"Merci, Cujo..."She said sincerely, since this got her mind off her troubles.
"You're welcome..."Cujo said, glad she liked his gift.
The two dogs then decided to continue their date. Both of them feeling happy to have gotten something off their chests and felt lighter.
It helped them have fun and feel closer together.
Meanwhile
Danny and Star were looking for Cujo high up in the skies. However, they couldn't find the ghostly pooch anywhere.
"Okay, he's not at the park, we checked each shop that sells meat in town and we apparently missed him and that's not usual..."Danny said, frustrated.
"This is so weird. It's not like Cujo to vanish like this..."Star said, wondering what is up.
However, before they could ponder more into it, she suddenly got a phone call.
"It's my mom..."Star said, before she answered.
"Hey, Mom..."She said.
"Star! Oh, thank goodness you're here. Have you seen Fifi?..."Stella asked, sounding frantic right now.
"Fifi? No, why?..."Star asked, worried her mother might find out about Cujo.
"She got out. I don't know where she went..."Stella said, worried.
"What? Oh no!..."Star said, even more worried.
"I know. It's horrible. Jean-Luc and I were getting ready for our dinner and when I went to go check on her, she was gone!..."Stella said, sounding upset.
"We already checked the entire penthouse and she's nowhere to be seen. If you see her, let us know. Jean Luc and I are going to check our block and call the police if necessary..."Stella said, sounding worried.
"Okay, Mom. Danny and I will keep an eye out and if we find her, we'll let you know..."Star said, planning to keep Cujo hidden.
"Thank you, Darling. I do hope that she's okay. Fifi is such a delicate thing. Oh, my poor Fifi..."Stella said, sounding concerned.
"I'll look for her now. Bye..."Star said, before hanging up.
She then turned to her boyfriend, looking upset.
"What happened?..."Danny asked.
"Fifi is missing. Mom said that she must have gotten out and left..."Star said.
"That's horrible..." Danny said, worried.
"I'll say. Now we have two missing dogs to look for. And they might even be together for all we know..."Star said, even more concerned than Danny.
More indeed.
"Why would you think that?..."Danny asked.
"I don't, but it's weird that they are both missing at the same time..."Star pointed out.
Danny thought about it, and nodded.
"Look, I get that you're concerned but we'll have to find Fifi after Cujo. I know that you're worried but it's more dangerous to leave Cujo by himself and you know it..." Danny said.
"True..."Star admitted.
"Let's call the others to keep a close eye out for Fifi, and let's continue our search..."Danny suggested.
Star nodded.
The teenagers quickly sent a text to the others, and they continued their search, hoping to find both dogs before they get into any more trouble.
A little later
Danny and Star still looking. They called the others but there were no updates.
No damage, no screaming, no stolen meat. Nothing to imply Cujo was around. They also didn't see Fifi anywhere either, and they were getting worried.
"You see anything, Starlight?..." Danny asked, his girlfriend was safely in his arms.
"Even with my ghost sight, Cujo can be pretty difficult to find..."He added.
Star who was using a pair of binoculars, courtesy of the Fentons, looked in all possible directions. Unfortunately, like her boyfriend, she wasn't having much luck either.
"I wish that I could give you some good news, Danny-Boo but, no dice. You would think finding him would be easy, especially if he turns into his monstrous size more often than not..."Star muttered.
"Ironic, isn't it?..." Danny asked, before sighing. "The one time we want Cujo to be huge, so he would be easier to find and he's most likely in his regular size..."He muttered.
"I would cataloged that under good news. After all, we don't want him to cause any property damage when he's one if his bad moods..." Star replied.
"I would say touché to that, Starlight. But seeing as I don't want to sound like the Fruitloop, I'll just give you a kiss on the cheek for giving a good point..." Danny joked, before giving his girlfriend the kiss on the cheek like he promised.
Star, of course liked it and giggled happily.
"Next time, how about a kiss on the lips?..." She joked.
"Now why didn't I think of that?..." Danny asked teasingly. "This is one of those times when being a C student stinks..."He teased.
Star giggled again and was about to give her boyfriend a kiss. However, they stopped inches away from each other's lips as they heard barking nearby.
"Did you hear that?..." Danny asked, stopping.
"I did..." Star nodded, before she once more used the Fenton binoculars.
And not a moment too soon as they found their canine friend having a blast.
"There he is Danny-Boo! It's Cujo!..."Star exclaimed, sounding relieved.
The ghost boy looked at the direction his girlfriend was pointing and indeed, he saw Cujo not too far away.
He was relieved to say the relieved.
"He's really there. Thank goodness. I definitely owe you a kiss now, Star..."Danny said, smiling.
"Well, aren't I a lucky girl?..." Star said coyly.
Both teenagers soon landed somewhat close to the little ghost dog, and Danny changed back since there is no one around. However, much to their surprise, they realize that he wasn't alone.
Danny blinked perplexed.
"What the? Star, isn't that your mom's dog?..."He asked, surprised.
Star looked, and nodded in confirmation.
"That's Fifi all right. She's okay!..."She said, relieved to see that she is alright.
"Thank goodness..."Danny said, while Star pulled out her phone.
"Better let mom know that she's here..."Star said, as she sent a quick text to her mother.
Once she was done, they looked at the dogs.
"I'm just glad that that Fifi is safe..."Star said, putting her phone away.
However, the little dogs saw the familiar faces. Cujo noticed Danny and Star and smiled.
"Oh, it's my friend and his mate..."Cujo said.
"That's the Madame's nice daughter and her mate. What a coincidence..."Fifi said, tail wagging.
However, both dogs noticed something.
"Wait? You know them?..."They both asked at the same time.
"Yes, like I said...she's the daughter of my owner and she's always nice to me..."Fifi explained.
"And he's my human friend and his mate is always nice to me too. She's always giving me treats and belly rubs whenever I'm a good boy..."Cujo said happily.
"Her belly rubs really are the best..."Fifi said.
"Let's go say "Hi" to them..."Cujo said.
He and Fifi soon ran to the teens, barking excitedly at them.
"Cujo. Fifi. Thank goodness that we found you too..."Danny said, happy to have found them before they got into any mischief.
"Hi Buddy! Did you and your mate come to play with us?..."Cujo barked happily.
"Hello, Madame's nice daughter..."Fifi barked, while Star picked her up.
She examined her and smiled.
"Okay, Fifi doesn't have a scratch on her. That's good..."Star said, before placing her down.
"Aw, I wanna be held too..."Cujo said, tugging at Danny's pants.
"Cujo, what is it?..."Danny asked, wondering what's up with him.
"He probably just wants some attention again..."Star pointed out.
Before Danny could say anything, Fifi barked something to Cujo. The ghost dog stopped, barked something excitedly at her, and soon the dogs began to play with each other.
They spotted a nearby stick and began to play tug of war with it. As they did this, Star and Danny began to talk.
"I'm glad that Fifi is okay...but what's she doing with Cujo?..."Danny asked, as the two dogs continued to play.
However, they noticed that the two dogs stopped and Fifi got closer to Cujo...and the dog seemed oddly relaxed and happy right now.
"The better question here is, what's going on between them?" Star asked. "Danny, you known Cujo longer than I have, has he ever acted so... calm? For this long?..."Star asked.
"I think the word you're looking for is normal and nope... This is a first..."Danny said, while the two dogs kept barking at each other and began to chase each other around in a circle, but it was clearly meant to be playful.
Both teenagers continued to watch as both Cujo and Fifi were having their own fun.
"Catch me if you can, Cujo..."Fifi said, as she ran circles around Danny and Star.
"Oh boy..."Cujo cheered as he chased her.
He knew that he could easily catch her, but he enjoyed the chase and found it fun.
The two dogs continued to run in a circle, while the teens were surprised.
"Okay...Cujo is clearly excited right now...but he's not morphing at all. He usually does that when he's mad, hungry or gets a little too playful..."Danny said, recalling their previous encounters.
"It's weird..."He said, as the two dogs stopped for a moment.
Star was silent. She noticed that Cujo got closer to Fifi and noticed the expression on his face. It didn't take long for her to put two and two together.
" Danny, are they... in love?..."Star asked, surprised.
"Love?..."Danny asked, surprised. "Ghost dogs can fall in love?..."He asked.
"Why shouldn't they?..." Star retorted. "In this crazy world, anything is possible..."She pointed out.
Danny raised a brow, but they saw how close Cujo and Fifi seemed to be and smiled.
"Well, when you put it that way Starlight... I think you may be right on the money..."He said as he continued to witnesses how close the two dogs were getting.
Danny blinked a few times before he chuckled.
"So it seems to me as if we're witnessing Cujo and Fifi's first date then..."He stated.
Star blinked, before smiling.
"Aw, that's so cute..."She said, finding this precious.
"Well, I guess we now know why Cujo has been acting so weird lately...and why he's been going less monster dog lately. I guess Fifi has been keeping him busy..."Danny said, as he patted the little green dog on his head.
"I guess so..."Star said, still finding this precious.
"And better him than than some fancy poodle version of Jean-Puke that Mom wants to set Fifi up with..."Star said as she continued seeing both dogs having the time of their (after) lives.
"What are they saying?..."Fifi asked, lost.
"I dunno..."Cujo said, before he noticed something on Fifi.
"Oh, Fifi. You got a leaf on your fur..."Cujo said.
"I do?..."Fifi asked.
"Yeah, I'll get it..."Cujo said, as he grabbed the leaf with his mouth.
Fifi smiled at that.
"Merci, Cujo..."Fifi said, as she licked him on the cheek.
Cujo's eyes shot up in surprise, before he melted in infatuation.
"Wow..."He let out in a lovesick way.
Fifi giggled, finding his reaction cute.
Danny and Star saw this, and Star could barely resist how cute the scene was.
"This is just too cute!..." Star said. "No way I'm not going to take a picture of this!..."She said, as she took out her phone out of her purse before taking a picture.
"Smile, lovebirds..."Star said, as she took the picture.
The flash took both Cujo and Fifi by surprise.
"What was that?!..."Cujo went.
"Oh, just one of those flashy little boxes humans play with. Madam uses them all the time around me..."Fifi went, used to having her picture taken.
Star then looked at the picture and smiled.
"I am so sending this to the others..."She said, smiling.
"Okay. We got that admittedly cute picture. Now, I think that we should get these two home before Murphy's law comes kicking in..."Danny said.
Before Star could respond to that, it was too late.
Murphy's law already kicked in.
"FIFI!..."A shrill voice was heard.
Danny, Star, Cujo and Fifi all flinched and soon saw Stella and Jean Luc running towards them.
"Oh man, I forgot about them..."Star said, as Stella rushed towards her dog.
The dogs were also surprised by the unexpected visit, and one of them was nervous now.
"Oh my...Madame..."Fifi thought, as the blonde woman picked her up.
"Oh mon petit puppy. Mama missed you..."Stella said as she held her.
"It's about time. We got an hour until our dinner with Lord Winthrop's owners!..."Jean Luc said, looking mad about what he saw as an annoying inconvenience.
Danny and Star heard this and frowned.
"Wow, that's a warm attitude to have after reuniting with your missing pet..."Danny snarked while the rich man glared at him.
Before Jean-Luc could retort, his wife sent him a glare, before she smiled at her daughter and Danny.
"Thank you, Star and Danny. Thank you very much for finding our Fifi. I was so worried..."Stella said before she began to scold her dog.
"Fifi, you shouldn't leave the house without Mama's permission. Bad dog..."Stella said, her worry turned into anger.
She even wagged her finger at her. This made Fifi cringe and shrink a bit.
"Madame is angry..."She thought, nervous now as she was being scolded.
Jean-Luc also began yelling at her.
"You really caused us a lot of trouble leaving like that. And look at your fur! It's filthy! What have you been rolling in! You look like a stray!..."Jean-luc yelled at her.
"Jean-Luc. Enough, it's not Fifi's fault that she got lost..."Stella said as she held her dog.
"Stella, we have dinner with the Barrington-Uphams in an hour and look at Fifi!..."Jean Luc said, angry.
"We can call Fifi's usual hairdresser for an emergency session..."Stella said.
"I am way ahead of you..."Jean Luc said as he pulled out his cell phone.
Star and Danny glared at that, as did Cujo.
"I don't know what that mean human is saying to Fifi, but I don't like the way he's said it..."Cujo said, as the mean human saw him.
Jean-Luc glared at him.
"Go away, you filthy stray! You have been a terrible influence on Fifi..."Jean-Luc said, while Star and Danny panicked.
"Jean-Puke, leave him alone!..."Danny yelled while Cujo tried to approach Fifi.
"It is Jean-Luc, you middleclass miscreant..."Jean Luc snarled at him, ignoring how bad this would look.
"I'd say puke is more fitting, given your lovely attitude..."Danny went, crossing his arms.
"Stay out of this, peasant boy. This doesn't concern you!..."Jean Luc snarled at him, still not a fan of the young Fenton boy.
"Jean-Luc..."Stella scolded, while Danny glared at the rich man.
"When it comes to Cujo, it certainly does. Just go make your phone call and leave him alone..." Danny went, knowing that will happen if he let the older French man make Cujo angry.
Stella was surprised, but Jean-Luc ignored Danny and continued to look down on the ghost dog. He even blocked him.
"Get away from us! Begone with you, lowely mongrel!…"Jean-Luc yelled at the top of his lungs. "And stay away from Fifi. She is to be breed with the finest, not a mutated green mutt like you!…"He said cruelly, gesturing in another direction for Cujo to leave.
Cujo whined with wide eyes as he pleaded to be allowed to stay.
"Jean Luc, calm down. He's just a little dog..."Stella said.
"We are wasting enough time. I am calling for Charles to bring the limo so that we can go now and have our dog properly groomed and cleaned up again. If that idiotic hairdresser doesn't dilly dally, we might be able to save this evening and this deal..."Jean Luc said.
Star glared at him.
"You're actually calling setting up Fifi with another dog a deal?!..."Star shouted at him.
The two began to argue, and Fifi and Cujo were getting confused.
"What's going on?..."Cujo asked Fifi, who is still in her owner's arms.
"I don't know, but they are fighting again..."Fifi said, uncomfortable with this.
"Enough, Star. Danny. Thank you for saving Fifi, but we really should go. I'll call and tell you how Fifi's first date with her future husband turns out..."Stella said as the limo soon arrived.
"Let's go, Stella. Time is not on our side right now..."Jean Luc said impatiently as he entered the limo.
Stella frowned but tried to remain patient.
"I'm coming..."Stella said before turning to her daughter and Danny.
"Mom...about Fifi..."Star tried.
"Sorry, Darling. But we have to go get her ready for Lord Winthrop. We're needed and first impressions are important..."Stella said, as she carried Fifi to the limo.
"Fifi. Wait, where are you they taking you?! Don't go!..."Cujo barked.
"Somewhere that I'm sure that I don't to go too, but if Madame wants me there, then I simply can not refuse her. But I want to stay..."Fifi went as Stella brought her inside the limo and closed the door.
Cujo saw this and got upset, not wanting to be separated from Fifi. He felt his ghost dog heart start to break.
"Fifi..."Cujo went, trying climb up the limo's door to follow her.
"I don't want to go..."Fifi barked but Jean Luc frowned.
"Be quiet, Fifi. Behave like a purebred..."He ordered in a harsh tone, glaring angrily at her and Cujo.
With that, she was silenced.
This annoyed Stella as she tried her best to calm down her precious and beloved dog.
Fifi did not struggle in Stella's arms, but glances over her shoulder. She whines and begs to be let go as she sees Cujo, yet Stella did not listen.
"Cujo..."She said, sounding sad as she looked to him, sending him a sad glance.
Her pleads are questioned by her owner's curious face.
"Strange..."Stella turned to look at Cujo. "Why is she looking at that oddly colored dog?..."She asked out loud.
"She's been around a bad influence. Hopefully, we can cleanse her by the time we meet with Lord Winthrop and his owners..."Jean Luc said in a controlling and less than sympathetic tone.
The limo soon left to take the wealthy couple and their dog home, unaware that their little poodle was against what they were doing.
She was disheartened from being taken away from the ghost dog that she had grown so attached too.
"Cujo!..."Fifi went, whimpering and feeling her eyes get watery as she couldn't see him from the window anymore.
With Cujo
"Fifi!..."Cujo went sadly, hating being separated from her.
He felt his ears drooped down to the sides of his head in discouragement and wanted to see his beloved again.
The ghost dog tried to chase after the limo, even turning into his monster form. Danny saw this and panicked.
"Oh no you don't!…"Danny grabbed hold of Cujo, pinning the ghost dog down.
While it was unseemly for him to do so, he did not want the dog to stay in his transformed form. "If I know you, a rampaging Cujo is bad for the town…"He went, while the dog struggled.
"Let me go! Fifi needs me, I just know that she does!..."Cujo whined, while he tried to free himself from the ghost boy's grip.
"But Danny, he's so lonely…"Star cooed, feeling sorry for Cujo.
Danny, however, was conflicted and tried to focus his attention to the bigger picture for the town's safety.
"I don't care. Every time he transforms, I have to be the one to clean it up! And he's not even my dog. Not to mention, that half of the whole town are still blaming me for all the damages that Cujo causes in his huge from anyway..."Danny said, while trying to keep Cujo in one place.
However, Star knew that she had to put her foot down on this situation and she also knew the perfect way to do just that.
"But Danny...look..."Star pointed.
Danny saw that Cujo was shurnk back to his regular dog form. However, he looked sad now. Even the ghost dog's eyes were getting all teary-eyed.
"Cujo, what are you doing?..." Danny said, until he turned the green ghost dog around and realized what Cujo was doing.
Danny made the mistake of looking into the ghost dogs eyes and nearly succumb to the irresistible sad yet adorable expression on the Cujo's face.
"Oh no...oh no...not again, Cujo. Not the puppy dog eyes..."Danny said, but the dog's eyes didn't change at all.
The wide, almost round eyes as the ghost dog lip quivered and practically nearly broke the ghost boy.
""How is he even doing that?..."He said, before sighing.
"No fair..."Danny said, as his girlfriend has a very strong suspension of what was going with the green ghost dog.
"I think he misses Fifi. You saw the way they were together Danny. I haven't seen her act so happy like that in a long time, I really think she and Cujo have a strong connection with each other. Kind of like another special couple that we both know..."Star said, hinting the similarities between the doggie couple and them.
"You think so, Starlight?..."Danny said, as Cujo's expression didn't change at all.
"Danny...I really think Fifi likes Cujo and I highly doubt she'd like a dog that JEAN-LUC picked out for her. Besides, anyone who Jean-Puke thinks is okay means that something is definitely not right with them..."Star said, not liking the rich man's taste in people.
"So...you're saying we should talk to your mom to get her to let Fifi date Cujo instead..."Danny said, thinking that it might be a bit of challenge for them to talk things through.
"We have to at least try..."Star said.
Danny looked at Cujo, and was the the green ghost dog had somber yet hopeful look on his face.
It was clear that the little ghost dog fell for Fifi and was sad to be separated from her. Danny understood the feeling of loving someone and being disheartened from be separated from her.
He sighed.
"Okay. Let's help him get his lady back..."Danny said, making Star smile.
She then picked Cujo up and tried to encourage him.
"Did you hear that, Cujo? Danny-boo and I are gonna help you get you girlfriend back..."Star said, thinking that they'll make a happy doggy couple.
"Alright, let's hurry before we lose them in traffic..."Danny said, as he changed into his ghost form and picked Cujo up.
"What's happening? Are you letting me go after Fifi?..."Cujo asked, looking hopeful now.
However, that is when some ecto blasts were sent their way and Danny panicked.
"Look out!..."Danny said, as he grabbed Cujo and Star and moved them out of the way.
The ghost boy was confused, since his ghost sense didn't go off. Which meant that they weren't dealing with a ghost right now, but ghost hunters this time around.
"Oh man, who is it this time?..."Danny asked.
"Danny Phantom, by the authority of the guys in white, you have the right to be detained and silent..."Agent O said, as he and K ambushed our heroes with their weapons.
"Those idiots again, I thought they were being crushed by a mountain of debt and trying to avoid a lawsuit from my dad..."Star said, angry.
"Stay here, Starlight. I'll handle these doofuses..."Danny said, as he landed them to a stay hiding spot to his girlfriend from being seen with him in his ghost from by the GIW.
Star remained in the alley, while Danny went to confront the two agents who approached the ghost boy and the green ghost dog.
"It's been a while. And I see you're guys fashion sense improved...but not by much..."Danny snarked while the disgraced agents snarled at the ghost boy's snarky comment.
They both took aim.
"Danny Phantom, you are under arrest in violation of the law..."Operative O spoke sternly.
"What the heck are you talking about?..."Danny asked while the agent pointed to Cujo.
"No dogs allowed in the park unless on a leash..."O went with a humorless tone, trying to remain threatening while also sound lawful.
Danny blinked, turning to the sign that said so before sighing at his luck. Life was always the one to throw a curveball like this.
"Seriously? You guys seriously blasted us for that?!..."Danny yelled.
"Well, just because you're a ghost doesn't mean you can't follow the same laws as humans..."Operative K quipped, pointing his weapon.
"We all have laws to follow and no one is above the law, not even ghosts..."K went, finger near the trigger.
"That and we're looking for any excuse to be rid of you..."O went, while the ghost boy shook his head and dragged his hand down his face.
"First off, he's not my dog. He's more a dog I have to clean up after. Second, I just came to send him back to the Ghost Zone..." Danny answered.
"Too late for that. You're both getting put down..." Operative K said before firing.
Danny easily dodged it and noticed how low quality the blaster is.
"Nice new toy? Sale at the C-List Villain Bargain Bin..."Danny mocked.
O and K growled at that.
"Shut up! It's because of you and your stupid friends that we've been reduced to lower ranks. To grunt work status, but that's gonna change after we deliver you and you're stupid dog to our boss..."K went.
"And subject you to experiments, lots and lots of painful experiments..."O went, before firing again.
"So not happening!..."The ghost boy went, avoiding the shot in time.
Danny ducked out of the way in time before setting Cujo down.
"Please don't do anything to get me in more trouble..." He ordered before he went to go fight off those goons.
Star saw all of this and knew Danny needed help. She also didn't just want to stay on the sidelines while her man did all the work.
"I better go suit up..."Star said as she pulled her costume out of her bag.
As Danny dealt with the Guys in White and Star went to change into her suit, their attention was turned away from Cujo, The small dog ghost had something else in mind over the crossfire.
""Usually I'd love to play fight with my friends, but I have to find Fifi right now..."Cujo said, looking to where she went.
He took the opportunity to run towards Fifi. Across the field of gunfire, no one saw the tiny dog flee, giving way to more potential chaos.
"I'm coming, Fifi..."Cujo went, going unnoticed by the battle between the heroes and bad guys.
He zipped away, desperate to reunite with her.
To find the girl dog he's come to care a great deal for.
