Author's Note: So this chapter is the longest, and a lot of it is actually kinda reworded and taken directly from another fic. If you want to read the fic that the next bunch of chapters is based around, you should check out the author Ivy the Snivy. People who have read their fics already probably understand what I did near the end of this chapter, but as for the rest of you, I hope you enjoy it. Also, majority of the quotes from that have simply been moved here, the description of an event can change, but I see no reason to change the dialogue.
That said, thanks Ivy, for everything. If you read this, you are the entire reason I had the courage to write this at all. You inspired me, and I will always appreciate the cool stuff you've written.
Chapter 30: Alola and A New Friend
Blade had been running for who knows how long, those humans had Shadow all over the place so he was unable to help Blade with this asshole dragonite that was chasing him. He had chased him across Ula Ula Island and as Blade ran he got close and closer to what looked like a fortified town. This Dragonite was persistent, and he wasn't going to leave Blade be. Whoever had sent him, wanted Blade, and that wasn't a very comforting thought to the Sneasel.
He ran up to a wall and without a second thought began to climb it, digging his claws in and carrying himself on to the top of the wall. Unfortunately, when he got there the pursuing Dragonite had hit him with a fire punch, looking to subdue the ice type Pokemon with a single hit. Instead, the attack had sent him hurtling forward at a surprising speed.
"Sneeaa…"
With a loud cry his momentum was broken as he slammed into a human's back. The human as well as it's apparent human and pokemon companions began to talk, but Blade was unconcerned with them. He kept his eyes trained on the Dragonite as his body shook from the force of the hit he'd just endured. He stared into the sky as Dragonite descended upon them.
"You little pest!" Dragonite seemed to both speak and growl simultaneously. It had a soft, high yet still quite menacing voice. "You're not getting away that easily."
"I already told you!" Blade snarled defiantly "I'm not going with you."
"We'll see about that" Dragonite brandished it's claws extending the four sharp digits in a threatening manner.
Suddenly, two Pikachu, a Typhlosion, Lucario, Riolu, Oshawott, and a Snivy moved defensively in front of Blade, standing between him and the Dragonite.
"HEY! Just what do you think you're doing," the boy Blade had slammed into demanded an answer. "Leave him alone."
"Pika Pikachu." One of the two Pikachu snarled and gave a warning spark.
Dragonite eyed the Pokémon wearily. After a brief pause, it decided this was not a fight it was going to win.
"Alright. You win for now Blade. But there won't be any strong trained Pokémon to protect you next time."
'Great, Trainers…how long until you try to put me in one of those prison balls of yours?" Blade stepped forward, shoving the first Pikachu and the Oshawott out of the way. "I don't need protecting! I can fight my own fights!"
"We'll see" with that and a heavy flap, Dragonite took off upward until he was out of sight.
As soon as he was gone, the Oshawott rounded on the Sneasel. "Hey buddy! What's the big idea?"
"Like I told you! I don't need anyone to protect me," Blade snapped back without hesitation.
"Really! Well those cuts say differently." Oshawott had pointed out Blade's injured appearance.
The ice type brandished its long claw. "I could take you right here."
"Then bring it on, Trubbish brain."
"Guys stop. There's no need for this," cried the first Pikachu, moving between Oshawott and Blade to prevent a fight.
"Oshawott. Knock it off," said their trainer ordered sternly, and Oshawott backed away. "Are you okay Sneasel."
Blade turned his back to them and folded his arms. "If I can take Dragonite, I can beat a pipsqueak like you."
"Oshaa." Oshawott growled but stopped when his trainer shot him a warning look.
"Why was that Dragonite attacking you," the Lucario asked out of curiosity.
"None of your business long-nose." Blade was being a bit more rude than usual, but considering his apprehension about where he was and what surrounded him, he found it justified. These three humans could easily turn on him and have their pokemon attack at a moment's notice.
The Lucario's eyes had gone narrow slightly. "You said you weren't going back. Where are you from?"
"Listen. Thanks for stopping Dragonite and all," Blade replied, genuinely grateful, though he didn't show it. "But I don't need protecting. I'm outta here."
He walked away, toward the town entrance, without a backward glance.
"Hey? Where are you going." The first trainer made to follow after him, but one of the other two stopped him and put a hand on his shoulder to do so.
"Leave it. It's a wild Pokémon. If it wants to go, let it."
They all watched in silence as Blade headed down the main street towards the gate and out of sight.
*The next day*
Blade watched from the tree line, looking over the humans and their pokemon. One pokemon in particular had caught his eye. One that looked similar to an old friend. A Pikachu, that held a striking resemblance to a Pichu he knew, Hikari, the son of a dear friend. The son of a raichu, named Raiee. Despite her defensiveness and initial dislike of Blade, the Sneasel grew close to her, and shortly after his birth, her son. That Pikachu there, without a doubt, was Hikari. And if Blade could, he would speak to him, but first he had to find an opportunity without drawing the humans attention.
He watched them with intent, hoping to see how strong he had become. He'd been there all day, several things flew through his mind. Around twenty pokemon, not exactly strong by any serious measure, Blade would be able to defeat any of them in a one on one fight if he had to, more than that though and he'd be easily overwhelmed. The humans had, by this point, been identified.
The one he'd hit the day prior, a raven haired boy with strange lightning bolt shaped birthmarks on his face, was called Ash.
The one that seemed glued at the hip to the Lucario from the day prior was a scatterbrained fool, but he was apparently called Cameron.
And the third trainer, he wasn't exactly standing out very much. The most Blade could tell was that he apparently wasn't an idiot like the other two. And his name was Jimmy.
Despite his constant surveillance, he hadn't found any opportunity to meet Hikari, but that was likely for the best. And he seemed to be right, humans clad in black uniforms bearing a crimson R insignia moved in the very same day. Team Rocket, that's what he'd heard them called before, humans like them took his family away. Took his mother away.
*A day later*
'Fuck, fuck, fuck! Why does this keep happening, why am I always fucking running!' Once again Blade had found himself being chased, forced to flee from the Dragonite that pursued him across the open meadow area.
The Sneasel fled across the field. The lactic build up in his legs burned and his lungs felt as though they were on fire. But he kept moving, not daring to look back. His pursuer occasionally let out a roar to let him know that he was on his tail. The safe house was in the distance. If he could only reach he would be safe…
"Electroweb."
He was hit hard in the back of the head and a powerful electric shock shot through him. As pain flooded the Sneasel's system, he fell to the ground in a heap. His eyes watering, he managed to turn onto his back, just in time to see the Dragonite land before him.
A small, ball shaped, rodent Pokémon, a Togedamaru, was sitting on its head. That explained where the electroweb had come from.
"Sorry to have to do this to you Blade," said the Dragonite, the look in his eyes told the ice type he was lying. "But you did bring this on yourself."
"Ugh. W-Why the fuck are you d-doing this," Blade managed to say through the pain. "H-hurting a fellow p-pokémon. F-f-for a human."
"No one is trying to hurt you. My master is only trying to help you."
"I-I-I dddon't need help from n-n-no stin-king humans."
"Hush now."
Dragonite was about to grab Blade when it suddenly froze. Literally froze. It stopped dead, wide eyed, as ice encased it's body. Starting at its wings and then spreading across its sides and chest and down its body.
It's head was the last thing to disappear, it's mouth forming a perfect o in surprise. It happened so quickly Togedemaru wasn't able to jump free, and was similarly encased.
"Well Blade," said Shadow's signature deep menacing voice came. "How many times must I be your savior before you listen to me."
The darkrai rose into the air from behind the ice that contained Dragonite. The sight was a welcome one all things considered. He hadn't seen Shadow in days.
"Sh-Shadow." Blade whispered the name.
"Come." The Darkrai offered him his hand.
Quivering, Blade stretched out his claw and took it. The two disappeared.
When they emerged from the sudden teleportation they were on a mountain. Cold, chilled winds and ice all around.
Blade couldn't stand the cold, he had always hated it, even more so as it seemed to symbolize the time he spent with his pack. So long made to suffer, but that was done, he was safe with Shadow on that mountain. Despite being an Ice type he still shivered. The sudden change in temperature was a shock.
"You seem cold Blade," Shadow stated, noticing the Sneasel shivering. "Why don't you come inside and warm up." He gestured with a claw to the entrance to a small cave.
Blade did as Shadow suggested without protest. The Darkrai floated into the cave behind him.
"Make yourself comfortable. I'll heat the place up."
He conjured three purplish red orbs of fire in his claw that rose to the ceiling. At once heat spread through the cavern.
Blade stopped shivering. He leant against the wall directly under one of the fireballs to get warm. "You didn't take me to Aether Paradise," He said looking up at Shadow. He tried to keep his voice casual. Aether Paradise, Blade had only been there a few times, and the humans had made it abundantly clear that he was to obey or leave, the decision had been left to Shadow. And he chose to keep Blade away from them. But that place, something was off about it. A place devoted to pokemon conservation. Just another human prison, meant to brainwash pokemon into dependency as humans often did. Why Shadow continued helping them was beyond reasoning.
"I persuaded my…Associates. That it would be easier for me to speak with you alone. Seeing as how you hate humans so much."
"Associates," repeated Blade with the hint of a smirk. "You mean your trainers." If he'd been trying to taunt shadow it hadn't worked. The Darkrai made no response, so Blade continued, "And I don't hate humans. I just don't want to get mixed up in all that shit again." It irked Blade how easily Shadow followed their orders. Shadow had seen fit to make certain that if it came down to it, Blade wouldn't have any knowledge of them.
"I'd say you're already mixed up in. That shit. As you put it."
"You mean that Dragonite. Pssst." Blade waved his claw dismissively. "I had that under control."
"Really," Shadow chuckled, something he hadn't done often, so Blade knew he was genuinely amused. "I've yet to come across a definition of. Under control. That involved writhing on the ground caught in an electroweb. If I hadn't been there to help you."
"Oh spare me. We both know full well that, your trainers." Blade put emphasis on the word trainers. He didn't hate humans, but the way they had Shadow running like an errand boy was annoying to him "At the Foundation are desperate to prevent a juicy piece of evidence like me from falling into the hands of Heather Dunbar." That was a name Blade didn't truly understand the significance of, not did he care to know. He'd only heard it a handful of times, but it didn't matter what the humans were doing with their idiotic politics.
"The Dunbar probe is nothing more than a partisan Pokéwitch hunt," replied Shadow nonchalantly. "It's the humans grasping at straws after Tabuu became Prime Minister and nothing more. Even if they did uncover anything from P2 they'd have a hard time making it stick to any of my associates."
"Sure about that," Blade said, raising an eyebrow and mentally rolling his eyes. He was lost, everything Shadow said was boring and confusing, human politics really were just humans using corruption to take control.
"I hope you aren't threatening anything Blade. I would hate for something. Dark. To happen to you." As he spoke Shadow floated behind Blade and ran his clawed hand down the Sneasel's back.
Blade shivered, feeling himself grow desperately needy for the darkrai. "I-I wasn't threatening anything. I-I-I was just. They've already made arrests."
"Of a few Team Skull Chu-bags, a pedophile and a civil servant on unrelated tax charges. None of the charges relate to the Foundation."
"Isn't it true that they arrested Dudley?" More names that Blade didn't care for, but that one, Dudley was apparently one of the humans responsible for the pokemon hunting him.
"Alas. It is. But again. None of the charges against him relate to any of my associates."
"But they are still after me? One of Dudley's…creations."
"You are one of Arceus's creations." Shadow's voice turned icy again. He didn't like taking a cold tone with Blade, but he needed to drive the point home. "Pokémon are not the creation or plaything of humans!"
Blade smirked, noticing that he managed to get to Shadow for once. "Then why are you here doing the Aether Foundation's dirty work?"
"Actually Blade I am here doing you a service yet again. When my associates first became aware of the warrant on your head, their first reaction was to either wipe your mind and let the humans take you. Or to just have you killed. And they appointed me to carry out the task." In his heart, Shadow knew he could never do that to his partner.
Still this information pierced Blade's heart like an icicle. On top of everything they had done to him, the humans at the Foundation were still going to dispose of him. Like he was nothing. At the same time he felt a flush of affection for Shadow. Perhaps he did care more for him then he knew. Why Blade still doubted that was overly obvious, Shadow didn't show emotion, and thus his affection was much harder to notice.
He forced himself to maintain his composure however and shrugged off the suggestion. "Oh please. Like you're capable of doing either to me."
He was right, and Shadow knew it, however, he couldn't ignore the need he'd sparked in Blade moments ago. "Oh I think I can Blade. I truly think I can." The single eye visible under the ghostly plume rising from Shadow's head turned a blood red.
"Ohhh."
Blade felt his mind detach from his body. He felt himself drop to his all fours as shadow floated towards him. He had no control over his body at all. Shadow was in control and he had become a sort of prisoner inside himself.
Despite the protests Blade gave mentally to Shadow's sudden sexual advances, he quite enjoyed it. The only problem was, he genuinely wasn't in the mood for anything like that at the moment.
It was hard to tell whether or not Shadow had genuinely been enjoying himself. He reacted as he would be expected to under Blade's treatment but the Darkrai remained still and his voice sounded devoid of pleasure the entire time. Despite that, Shadow did enjoy it, as did Blade when it all had transpired.
"You're a sick fuck you know that," he said when Shadow finally released him.
"Your body tells me you liked it," replied Shadow.
Blade looked down and noticed his own arousal. He blushed furiously, and tried to cover himself with one of long feathers on his back.
"So this is the reason you helped me," he said, trying to keep his voice cool. "You just wanted to get back inside my tailhole again."
"I was merely demonstrating to you that threatening me or my associates is foolish Blade." The icy quality had returned to Shadow's voice. Again that red eye glowed, and Blade involuntarily moved his tail feather, exposing himself to the darkrai once more. "Relationship or not, I'm still the man between us. And that I can bend you to my will if necessary." The last sentence was said in just the right way to make Blade blush again, it was the tone of voice Shadow managed the first time they had mated. A tone that resonated dominance and desire.
Blade groaned despite himself. "Alright. Alright you made your point. Let me go."
"Are you sure you don't want me to do something about your little." Shadow eyed Blade's arousal. "Problem first."
"Very sure."
"As you wish." Shadow returned to Blade control of his body. He stifled a chuckle at Blade's expense. He did so enjoy teasing his Sneasel.
The ice type sat down against the wall and crossed his legs, willing his arousal away.
"What exactly do you want with me Shadow," he asked to help take his mind off it. "Why am I here and not Aether Paradise?"
"I told you. I persuaded my associates to allow me to speak to you privately. And not to kill you."
"And what did they want you to speak to me about?"
"You've been skulking around the Team Rocket installation in Po Town for the last two days. My associates want to know what you have observed?"
"What are you talking about?" Blade raised his eyebrows surprised. How did they know he'd been there? Had Shadow told them?
"I'll be more specific," said Shadow. "There are three trainers residing at the Team Rocket installation in Po Town who aren't part of Team Rocket. They have some protection arrangement with Team Rocket to protect one of their Pokémon from my associates."
Blade frowned, and his mind wandered. 'Why would anyone accept help from people like them?' "Err…Yeah I think I know who you're talking about. What do they have to do with anything?"
"Everything. Now tell me what have you learnt about them?" Shadow seemed uninterested, as though he was only doing this as a courtesy to his associates.
Blade thought back to the previous day. "Well. They're names are Ash, Jimmy and Cameron. They have about 20 Pokémon between them, I think. There's three Pikachu, two Oshawott, a Lucario and a Riolu, a Sylveon and an Espeon, Axew…I forget the rest. But one of those Pikachu, is Raiee's son." Blade was rather excited about that reveal. Shadow had been close to Raiee as well. As had Pyre, and Rai.
Beneath his fog like plume, Shadow raised his eyebrow. "Ahh…Now that's interesting."
Blade coxed his head. "You sound surprised…"
"I am," Shadow replied genuinely intrigued. "How peculiar that Raiee's son would turn up after all these years with these trainers. That means Dudley's experiment worked. Have you see him in any of his Zygarde forms."
Blade shook his head, he had heard that Hikari was some sort of lab creation, a Zygarde core in a Pikachu's body, but he didn't believe it. "Nah. Just as a Pikachu… But wait. Your. Associates. Weren't aware of this. Then why are you interested in these trainers."
"Because of one of those Oshawott's you mentioned is part Cosmog." Shadow stated, rather disappointed about that information.
Blade's eyes widened. "So there were more experiments."
"No. This is not due to human experiments."
"But how."
"I'm afraid I do not know. My associates in Aether are not privy to that information. So tell me Blade. What do you know of this Oshawott."
"Ummm very little. I've seen one of the Oshawott battle. It looks like it's pretty strong. But I don't know if it's the one you're talking about. And that's really all I can tell you." Blade was a bit worried that Shadow might be upset, but the darkrai showed no such feeling.
"Very well. My associates want to make you the following offer."
*The next day*
With Shadow's assistance Blade had managed to sneak into the large main building of Po Town. And in the room he was in, he'd found a box and started carelessly rummaging through it.
With a cry of "Piikkaa" he felt a bolt of electricity strike right into the small of his back.
"Snea!" Blade let out a cry as he convulsed, but the attack did not take him out. The sneasel jumped to his feet and spun around, snarling angrily and brandishing a set of sharp looking claws. And then It was revealed that one of the Pikachu he'd seen was the one to attack him. He recognized who they were, it was Hikari.
"It's you! You're the Pokémon Ash saved from that…Agh" Hikari said recognizing Blade
The Sneasel charged at the Pikachu taking a swipe at him with those long claws. Hikari managed to scramble out of the way just in time. He then fired another thunderbolt hitting Blade in the chest.
"Grghg." The ice type grunted and whined with pain but managed to withstand the electric shock.
'Oh man. This guys strong,' Hikari thought, feeling dread filling him.
Blade took another swipe at Hikari. And this time his claw made contact with Hikari's throat. Pain exploded through his body as he was knocked into the air and onto the ground.
Next thing he knew Blade was on top of him. Placing a foot on his chest to pin him down. His long, sharp toenail grazed Hikari's throat.
"Haha." Blade smiled at him, chuckling and revealing two long fangs. "Trained Pokémon. Having those humans tell you what to do all the time has turned you into mindless drones. You've lost your instincts."
"Pi." Hikari squirmed beneath the Sneasel's foot. He knew he wouldn't be able to push him off. But he might be able to use thunderbolt.
"I wouldn't," Blade said gleefully. He drove his foot against the Pikachu's chest, the toe digging into this throat. "I bet I can kill you before your shock can do any damage."
The electric type went still. His heart raced and his mouth went dry. "N-no. Please no!"
The Sneasel's grin grew broadly. "Now that's more like it. I'm going to let you up now. But you make one aggressive move and you'll regret it. Understood?"
Hikari nodded.
"Good." The Sneasel took his foot off the Pikachu's chest, to his relief. Then to his surprise, Blade grabbed him from under the arms and lifted him back onto his feet. "I'm sorry I had to do that to you Hikari. Well no I'm not. You did attack me. But I never wanted to have to hurt Raiee's son."
'Hikari?' the Pikachu thought confusedly. "I'm…" he started to correct him but stopped himself. This case of mistaken identity might be why he was still alive. "Err…"
"The name's Blade." Blade held out his claw and smiled. "It's great to finally meet you Hikari."
"Umm…And you." Hikari took his claw, searching around for something to say. Anything to keep the charade up until he could either run or attack. The fear from moments ago was still fresh in his mind. "How do you know?"
"Who you are. How could I not know? You're Raiee's son," Blade said with a smile. "The last time I saw you, you were still a Pichu."
"My mom." Hikari had no idea what to think now. He'd never seen Blade in his entire life, but he was acting like he knew him for years.
"Ashy. I know you're in…Oh."
Hikari spun around. A Flareon had appeared in the doorway, having followed Hikari to the room.
"Ashy."
"Sniveon." He'd felt a lurch of fear in his stomach. He tried to throw the now named Sniveon a silent warning.
"Who's this Pokémon?" She asked eyeing up Blade.
"Umm. Is this Flareon a friend of yours," Blade asked, feeling a sudden apprehension and worry, as though a trap was about to spring on him. 'Ashy?' "Team mate? Why'd she call you Ashy?"
"It's…Just a nickname," Hikari said quickly. "Blade, this is Sniveon. Sniveon, this is Blade. He's that Sneasel Ash saved from the Dragonite."
"Hi," said Sniveon in turn, raising her paw.
Blade nodded, relaxing a bit, remaining weary of the Flareon. "Nice to meet you."
"What are you doing here? Do you live in this house?"
Blade shook his head and replied honestly. "I came here to talk to Hikari actually."
Sniveon's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Why do you want to talk to Hikari?"
"I've known him since he was a Pichu. I was friends with his mom. So, when I saw him with those humans the other day, I wanted to talk to him. In fact I have something for him." Blade felt joy at being able to share some stories of Raiee with her son, considering he hadn't seen her in a very long time. He slipped something off his wrist and threw it across the floor at Hikari's feet. It was a bracelet, a thin chain with a round yellow gemstone attached to it. He spoke again "Careful with that. It's a Thunderstone. Raiee used to keep it in case you ever wanted to evolve."
Hikari picked the bracelet up by the chain so as not to touch the stone. It was greenish yellow in color, with a distinct lightning bolt shape in the center. Hikari looked it over for a moment.
Blade heard the footsteps of humans approaching. "We'll talk some other time it seems Hikari, until then." Blade took a quick bow putting one claw behind his back and the other over his chest, lowering his head. He'd picked that up from watching Shadow. Without a second though, he turned toward a window and leapt up, quickly pushing it open and jumping out, leaving the two confused pokemon alone. "That went well, can't wait to see him again. Though suddenly, I feel like I'm seeing some story I've never read."
