The Forgotten Chieftain's Wife Chapter 27
Not long after Durotan's imprisonment Orgrim is summoned by Gul'dan.
On a raised platform overlooking a majority of the encampment, Orgrim stands observing numerous orcs hammering away on rock and stone at the Great Gate and massive statues on each side that are being shaped in reflection and tribute to the one that permitted them to enter this realm. Acting assiduously on their benefactor's behalf, despite the bulk not having met the sorcerer face to face with the exception of Gul'dan.
"A whole world in exchange for a statue. Gods are strange creatures," scoffed Orgrim, shaking his head in befuddlement, eyeing the portal and those working diligently at it, banging and chipping away.
That which will relatively render the humans helpless and orcs invincible to all who oppose them, leaving death in their wake.
On his ornately carved chair, a pale and emaciated human slave crouched at his feet in replacement for Garona, sinisterly, Gul'dan chuckled "Frostwolves. You are a practical people. Those of us from the south have always admired that about you." Gul'dan extends a hand toward the slave, waving it languidly, eyes glowing green from the fel. A thin misty trail of life force energy snaked from the human to the warlock's fingertips. After Gul'dan had drunk his fill, absorbing it into his own body he returns his focused attention to the Great Gate. "When the portal opens and the rest of the Horde join us, we will gift them the fel, all of them."
Fists clenched, rounding angrily upon Gul'dan, Orgrim snapped "Durotan and Lyanna did not agree to this!"
"Any why would you care what either of those traitors thinks," challenged Gul'dan, eyes flaring green from the fel in dominance and making Orgrim feel insignificant in comparison to him.
Orgrim sighed, averting his gaze and avoiding eye contact.
"It is time for a new leader of the Frostwolf Clan. One who has the best interests of his orcs in mind. One who appreciates Gul'dan's vision. His power," said Gul'dan, withdrawing even more life energy from the drastically depleted slave. He then extends an inviting hand to Orgrim to grant him a reward. "Come. I will grant you the fel."
The whole time Durotan had been considering allying with the humans Orgrim had thought he was making a mistake in turning against orc kind. Now watching Gul'dan absorb so much life energy from the human slave he recalls how in the beginning Garona and Lyanna had both said Gul'dan was dark and dangerous and realized now the mistake he'd made in turning against them.
Gul'dan is dark and dangerous indeed and destined to be the destroyer of all. Not what the Horde or any of the tribes need.
Orgrim's made a grievous error in judgment. He knows that now. He must atone and try to make things right.
Orgrim simply needs to convince Gul'dan he fully intends to accept the fel and fall into line without hinting at his true intentions.
Swallowing thickly, gathering his nerve, struggling to appear sincere through his pounding heart, Orgrim said "Durotan, he…He has poisoned the Frostwolves against the fel. Let me gather them. Bring them here. Grant me the fel in front of them. Let them see with their own eyes as proof of how much stronger I become."
Eyes narrowed, considering Orgrim's words carefully, hoarsely, Gul'dan said "As I said, a practical people. This is a new dawn. The time of the Horde! Be feared or be fuel!"
The last of his life force utterly drained the human corpse and collapsed onto the wood, a papery and withered husk.
Orgrim inclines his head, turning to leave. He's taken only a handful of steps when another thought crosses his mind.
"What will happen to Lyanna and Durotan's son Go'el," asked Orgrim, dreading the answer he'd get in reply to the inquiry.
Forcing away the human's dead body off the platform and plummeting to land with a loud crash and thump down below, Gul'dan said "As long as Durotan's heir lives he will be a threat to the Horde and all we stand to gain here in this land. The child will die to stem that risk he represents."
"And Lyanna," persisted Orgrim.
"What other purpose will she return to other than the one she was intended for? Lyanna will become the slave she was always meant to be to our kind. As she was intended to be when I made a gift of her to the Frostwolf Clan all those seasons ago," proclaimed Gul'dan, bluntly.
Orgrim cannot and will not see that happen.
Orgrim departed, maintaining his calm composure until he was far enough away from the torches to the point where Gul'dan can't easily spot him with the naked eye. He breaks into a sprint, certain that Gul'dan had not believed him. He only hoped that he had bought those in his clan enough time to get out of range of Gul'dan's fury.
But he had not.
Orgrim had betrayed his chieftain's trust and faith and now witnessing divine punishment as a consequence of his crime.
Howls and shouts erupt, piercing the night air as he approached the Frostwolf section of the Horde encampment that is now up in flames. Numerous Frostwolves fighting for their lives against Gul'dan's forces that have come to eliminate them.
"Gul'dan does not want to waste his power on the Frostwolves!"
"Take the weak, kill the strong!"
The summons from Gul'dan had been a plot all along to get him away from the Frostwolves so he couldn't protect them.
He'd underestimated the sheer levels Gul'dan's brutal cruelty is capable of.
What a fool Orgrim has been, watching his people being slaughtered left and right over a decision he made.
As he is making a beeline for the Frostwolf Chieftain's tent, he runs into a member of the Warsong, green with the fel. Orgrim elbows the orc in the shoulder and lands a solid punch in the chest to incapacitate him. Orgrim lifts the Warsong by the neck, hoisted him up, then slammed his head down at an angle on his own bald head. The Warsong's neck snapped. Orgrim discards the body, hurling it away, and continued on.
Filled with frustration and shame Orgrim ducks his head and slips inside the chieftain's hut.
Lyanna, Go'el, and Draka are nowhere to be seen. The hut is vacant.
The baby's cradle, Durotan's spear Thunderstrike and great axe Sever are missing from the tent along with an absent Frostwolf banner.
And at the rear is a hidden exit sliced open with a dagger, gently waving in the night breeze.

WE'RE ALMOST THERE! JUST A HANDFUL MORE REMAINING!
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of days ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in someway. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
