Chapter 67: Hail to the King

Syrus was the next to step into the duel arena, where he found the King of the Skull Servants waiting for him.

"Ah man, why do I always get stuck with the spooky ones?"

"You're my opponent? Pah! You should be grateful for even being allowed to be in my presence, you peasant!"

"I shall make the first move! And to start, I'll activate the spell card Hand Destruction! Now we each discard two cards before drawing two more."

Syrus looked over his cards, picking out the perfect two to discard before replacing them.

"Next, I activate the spell card Call of the Mummy!"

Syrus gulped nervously. He just knew that a big beater was about to hit the field.

"WIth it, I call forth my Skull Servant (300/200)!"

"What?"

To Syrus's surprise, the pitiful normal monster emerged onto the field, taking a defensive stance.

"Why would you special summon that?"

"All in good time. But for now, I'll summon Goblin Zombie (1100/1200) in attack mode and end my turn with one card face down."

"Well, that was underwhelming. I-"

"I activate my trap card, League of Uniform Nomenclature!"

Syrus paused as two more Skull Servants joined his opponent's ranks.
"Right. As I was saying, I summon Steamroid in attack mode! Attack his Goblin Zombie!"

KOSS: 6800

"Exactly as I expected, because now I can add myself to my hand."

"I'll end my turn with one card face down. Your move."

"Don't get cocky. I'll tribute one of my Servants in order to summon Vampire Lord. Attack his Steamroid!"

"Sorry, but I activate Reverse Trap! Now instead of losing 500 attack points, Steamroid will gain them!"

"What?"

The Vampire tried to scratch Steamroid, only to be trampled by it in retaliation.

KOSS: 6500

"How do you like me now?"

"You're still a peasant! I end my turn with one card face down."

"What's the matter, jealous? I'll start with Polymerization, fusing Steamroid, Drillroid, and Submarineroid together to summon Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill! Attack his Skull Servant!"

KOSS: 3700

"Oh yeah! Who's the man! I end my turn."

"And I'm about to end you! I activate my face down, Crush Card Virus!"

Syrus groaned as the virus spread over his fusion monster, causing it to rust and break apart.

"Ah man."

"Now, say goodbye to every monster in your hand with 1500 or more attack points!"

Fortunately, Syrus didn't have any other monsters that fit that criteria, but this put him in a bad spot.

"I don't get it, why didn't he use that card before Syrus attacked?"

"Because Jaden," Bastion explained. "He needs all of his Skull Servants in the graveyard. Remember, he has King of the Skull Servants in his hand."

"Yeah, so?"

Everyone just groaned in annoyance.

"Just wait and see."

"Next, I'll use Curse of the Mummy to summon Master Kyonshe (1750/1000) in attack mode. Then I'll summon myself, King of the Skull Servants (?/0)! And for every one of my brethren in my graveyard, I gain 1000 attack points. I have three Skulll Servants, plus the other two kings I discarded on my first turn, which means…"

"5000 attack points?!"

"It seems you can add, but can you subtract? Attack him directly, my monsters!"

Syrus: 1250

"Have you had enough, yet?"

Syrus groaned, picking himself off the floor.

"Not…yet. I activate the spell card, Pot of Greed!"

"Whatever. Just don't forget to show me your cards."

"Yeah, yeah."

Syrus smirked when he saw what he got, even after having to reveal his hand to the skeleton.

"I have everything I need to defeat you right here."

"With those pathetic cards? I Highly doubt it."

"Want to bet? First, I activate Fusion Recovery to bring back Polymerization and Drillroid. Next, I summon Expressroid (400/1000) in attack mode!"

"Is that really all you can do?"

"Not even close! See, when Expressroid is summoned, I can add two other roids in my graveyard back to my hand, such as Truckroid and Stealthroid. Now, I'll use Polymerization to fuse them together and make Super Vehicroid- Stealth Union (3600/3000)!"

"An impressive monster, I'll admit, but even reducing his own attack points in half he can't touch my King!"

"Funny that you know about that effect, but not about his other one. See, I can steal any of your monsters and equip them to him, as long as they're not machines themselves!"

"What?"

The zombie could only watch in horror as his clone was absorbed into the giant mech's chest, the torso becoming the monster's grinning face.

"And even if his attack does get cut in half, it's still more than enough to pummel your zombie into paste (3600-1800)!"

"I'm still in this!"

Syrus just smirked, and played the last card in his hand: De-Fusion.

"Are you sure about that?"

The King could only watch in horror as the giant robot split back into its materials. And with no other cards to protect him, all he could do was pitifully try and defend himself as the machines attacked, wiping out the rest of his life points.
