Chapter 71: Hero Showdown
After Syrus's duel wrapped up, Jaden was called to the arena to meet his opponent. When he arrived, he was quite shocked to find one of his own Elemental Heroes waiting for him, that being Lady Heat.
"Woah, unreal! I've been using Heroes for years, but I never thought I'd get to duel one of them!"
Likewise, his opponent was also very excited.
"A fellow Hero user, I see? I look forward to our duel."
"Yeah? Well, get your game on!"

"Well, my mom always taught me ladies first, so you can have the first turn."
"Thanks, but don't expect any favors. For starters, I summon Elemental Hero The Heat (1600/1200) in attack mode. Next, I activate the spell card Hero's Bond! Since I already have a Hero monster on the field, I can bring out 2 more level 4 or lower Elemental Heroes from my hand, like Strato and Lady Heat! Next, Stratos's effect lets me add Bladedge to my hand. And don't forget, for every Elemental Hero I control, The Heat gains 200 attack points (1600-2200). I'll set one card face down and end my turn, and now my doppelganger gets to put the heat on you!"
Jaden groaned in discomfort as the fireball hit him, dealing the first damage of the duel.

"You don't beat around the bush, do you? Well, now its time to show you what I can do! First, I'll summon my own Stratos and use his effect to bring Elemental Hero Clayman to my hand. Next, I'll use Polymerization to fuse Avian and Burstinitrix together in order to form Elemental Hero Flame Wingman! Now Stratos, attack Lady Heat!"

"And now that The Heat is weaker (2200-2000), Flame Wingman can take him out easily!"
Lady Heat: 7400-5800
Despite the big drop in life points, Lady Heat couldn't help but smirk.
"Thanks for that, because you just activated my Hero Counterattack trap card!"
"Uh oh."
"That's right, now you need to choose a card in my hand. Be sure to choose wisely, because if its an Elemental Hero, your monster is instantly destroyed. So go ahead, pick a card, any card."
"Um, I choose the...left one!"
"Good choice…for me that is!"
The card was, unfortunately, Elemental Hero Bladedge, who immediately appeared and destroyed the fusion monster with a swift uppercut.
"Ah man. I set one card face down and end my turn."
"So much for showing me what you've got. I activate Miracle Fusion, combining Lady Heat and The Heat in my graveyard in order to summon Elemental Hero Inferno (2300/1600) in attack mode!"
"Oh no."
"Bladedge, destroy his Stratos!"
"Not so fast, I activate Hero Barrier!"
"You might have stopped one attack, but you won't stop the next one! Inferno, attack Stratos!"

"Now Stratos, attack him directly!"
Jaden: 5100
"I end my turn there. You're not too bad."
"Hey, you've got some pretty sweet moves yourself! First, I activate Spellbook Inside the Pot to allow us to draw three cards."
As Jaden drew his cards, he heard a soft cooing. He smiled, knowing exactly who it was.
"Hey buddy, you want to give me a hand?"
"Kuri Kuri!"
"Alright then, I summon Winged Kuriboh in defense mode!"
"Aw, he's so cute! I wish I could go over there and give him a big hug!"
Winged Kuriboh smiled, cooing happily at the praise.
"He may be cute, but he can also be deadly. I'll throw down a face down and end my turn."
"Oh, why do you make me do this? Sorry little guy, but I'm going to attack you with Bladedge!"
"Don't worry, because I activate Transcendent Wings! Now Winged Kuriboh goes from level 1 to level 10!"
"But he didn't get any stronger?"
"He didn't need to, thanks to his effect! By tributing him, he takes all of your monsters with him!"
"AW!"
Sure enough, Winged kuriboh exploded, taking all three of her monsters with him.
"And when he does, you take damage equal to your monster's combined attack points!"
"What? But that means-"
"Yep, that's game!"

Despite the loss, the heroine couldn't help but smile.
"That was so awesome!"
"Aw, thanks! But you know, you made some pretty-"
But Jaden was immediately shoved out of the way so that she could scoop up Winged Kuriboh into a big hug.
"Who knew such a cutie could pack such a punch! Can I take you home with me?"
Winged Kuriboh chirped happily at the attention, making Jaden jealous.
"Traitor."
