Chapter 62: D.D. Homerun
Chazz returned to the audience, feeling smug with himself.
"Alright, way to play Chazz!"
"You showed them!"
Chazz scoffed, taking a seat and propping his feet up.
"Duh, like there was ever a doubt. Those chumps never stood a chance."
The gang looked towards the tournament bracket to see who was dueling next. As it turned out, it was Hassleberry."
"Alright, I'm up! Wish me luck, boys!"
"Hey!"
"Right, and ladies."
"Thank you."
A few moments later, Hassleberry was on the duel field, staring down his opponent, Jerry Beans Man. The coin was flipped and it was decided that Jerry Beans Man would go first.
Jerry Beans Man: 8000
Hassleberry: 8000
"I'll start this duel with one monster face down, and two cards face down. Your move."
"Alright then, I hope you're ready for battle, because I summon Mad Sword Beast (14/00/1200) to the front lines in attack mode! Next, I activate the field spell Jurassic World to give my soldiers a bonus (1400-1700/1200-1500)! Lastly, I special summon Gilasaurus (1400-1700/400-700) to give him some backup! Mad Sword Beast, charge!"
"I activate my trap card, Macro Cosmos! Now any card that will go to the graveyard is removed from play instead."
The armored dinosaur rammed right into the face down monster, which was revealed to be a Magical Merchant (200/700) before being smashed into pixels.
Jerry Beans Man: 7000
"That was my Magical Merchant you destroyed! When he's flipped up, I need to draw cards from my deck until I get a spell or trap card. That card gets added to my hand, and everything else gets sent to the graveyard."
The plant monster wound up removing 7 cards before drawing a spell: Alligator's Sword, Baby Dragon, Mad Lobster, Princess Tsurugi, Watapon, Red Archery Girl, and Mad Lobster before he drew Card Destruction.
"Not bad, but my Gilasaurus is about to take a bite right out of your life points!"
The Bean person tried to block as Gilasaurus bit down hard on his hand, making him cry in pain.
Jerry Beans Man: 5300
"Had enough yet? I end my turn with one card face down."
"I'm just getting started! First, I activate my Legacy of Yata Garasu trap card, letting me draw an extra card. Next, I summon my Gren Maju Da Eiza (?/?) in attack mode!"
"So what? He doesn't have any attack points."
"He will in a minute. See, for every card I have removed from play, he gains 400 attack and defense point points, and I have 8 (?-3200/?-3200). Next, I activate Card Destruction, forcing us to discard our entire hands and start anew."
"But that means your monster is going to get stronger!"
"That's the idea (3200-4400/3200-4400)."
But surprisingly, a Giant Rex appeared on Hassleberry's side of the field (2000-2300/1200-1500).
"Surprised? One of the cards you forced me to discard was Giant Rex, and when he's removed from play, I can special summon him to the field! What's more, he gets 200 attack points for every Dino removed from play. And what do you know, I had one other Dino in my hand (2300-2500)!"
"So what? Gren Manju still has more attack points, and I'm going to put them to good use! Attack his Gilasaurus!"
The interdimensional demo stabbed the smaller dinosaur through with his claws, before throwing into the dimensional portal.
Hassleberry: 5300
"I've done enough damage to you for now, so I'll end my turn there."
"Alright, this means war! First off, I'll tribute my two remaining dinos to summon Super Conductor Tyranno to the front lines (3300-3600/1400)! Next, I'll activate my Double Summon spell card, which lets me summon Tyranno Infinity for some backup (?-5300)! Attack his Maju!"
The stronger dino roared, piercing the fiend with his horn before throwing it into the dimensional rift.
Jerry Beans Man: 3200
"Now Super Conductor Tyranno, end this duel!"
Hassleberry's larger dino let loose a barrage of electricity, shocking the plant warrior as his life points fell to zero.
Jerry Beans Man: 0000
"And Tyranno Hassleberry moves to the next round!"
The Plant person sighed, but bowed respectively before vanishing
Hassleberry returned to the locker room, where his friends were waiting.
"Way to play, Tyranno!"
"Thanks, Sarge! Who's up next?"
Their answer was quickly answered when the TV screen sprung to life, showing the battlefield as the duelists approached it. One was a Reaper on the Nightmare, while the other…
"No way!"
"It can't be!"
"Zane?!"
Indeed, the older Truesdale sibling was on the duel field now, staring down his horse riding opponent.
"So, you're the bug I have to crush?"
"Big talk, for a mortal. But once you feel the wrath of my Fusion Monsters, you'll be begging for mercy."
GAME ON!

Zane: 8000
"I'll start things off with Polymerization, fusing my Crawling Dragon #2 with Two-Headed King Rex in order to Fusion Summon Brachio-radius (2200/2000) in attack mode. Then, I'll summon Faith Bird (1500/1100) in attack mode and end my turn."
"So much for facing your wrath. First, since you have a monster and I don't, I can call forth Cyber Dragon to the field! Next, I'll summon my Proto-Cyber Dragon in attack mode as well."
"So what? Neither of them can stand up to my Brachio-radius."
"Then let's change that with Limiter Removal (2100-4200) (1100-2200)! Cyber Dragon, destroy his dinosaur!"
The larger mechanical dragon opened its mouth, launching an energy blast that tore disintegrated the fusion monster with ease.
ROTN: 6000
"Now, Proto–Cyber Dragon, pluck that chicken!"
The smaller dragon shot a smaller, but just as deadly, stream of energy, accomplishing the same effect.
ROTN: 5300
"And if you thought I was done, think again! I activate Photon Generator Unit, tributing the two Cyber Dragons on my field to call forth Cyber Laser Dragon (2400/1800) from my deck in attack mode! Attack him directly!"
The Reaper had to shield himself as the attack hit, nearly knocking him out of the ring.

"Luckily for you, that's all I can do, so I'll end my turn with two cards face down."
"Bah, you got lucky, that's all! I'll start by activating the spell card Ancient Rules to summon Dark Magician!"
The crowd went wild when Yugi Muto's ace monster appeared, twirling his staff dramatically.
"And since I don't trust your face down's, I activate the spell card Dark Magic Attack!"
The mighty wizard released an orb of energy from his staff which exploded on Zane's side of the field, destroying his set Fusion Guard and Final Fusion.
"Now, destroy his Laser Dragon! Dark Magic Attack!"
Dark Magician raised his hand dramatically, inverting the colors and destroying the machine with ease.
Zane: 7900
"Was I supposed to feel that?"
"You're supposed to feel afraid. I'll end my turn there."
"Pathetic. First off, I'll do you a favor with Card of Sanctity, letting us refill our hands."
"How generous."
"Don't get too attached to them, though, because now I activate Card Destruction! Now we have to dump our hand and start over."
The Reaper scowled, but complied.
"Now, I'll summon Cyberdark Edge (800/800) in attack mode! And with his effect, I can equip the Hunter Dragon I discarded and give his attack points to him (800-2500)!"
"So what? Our monsters attack points are equal, attacking would be suicide."
"You'd be correct, if I was attacking your Magician. By cutting his attack points in half, Cyberdark Edge can attack you directly (2500-1250)!"
The Reaper gasped in shock as the demonic mech soared over his Magician and let out a terrible shriek, forcing him to cover his ears as the pain got to be too much.

"I'll set two cards face down and end my turn. If you want to last much longer in this duel, I suggest you start making some better plays."
"You want better? You've got it! First, I activate the spell card Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Hunter Dragon!"
The small cyclone ripped the dragon out of Edge's clutches and spun away, depowering the machine (2500-800).
"Next, I activate Fusion Recovery to add back my Crawling Dragon #2 and Polymerization to my hand. Next, I activate Polymerization, fusing Dark magician with the King of the Swamp in my hand to summon Dark Paladin (2900/2400)! And for every Dragon on the field or in the graveyard, he gains 500 attack points, and I spied another Dragon among those cards you threw away (2900-3900)! Next, I summon Crawling Dragon #2 (1600/1200) in attack mode, and I'll activate Re-Fusion, bringing back my Brachio-radius at the cost of 800 life points.

"Now Crawling Dragon, attack his Cyberdark Edge!"
The weaker dinosaur pounced, crushing the mechanical monstrosity with its jaw.
Zane: 7100
"Now my Fusion monsters, show him your true power!"
Dark Paladin leapt, striking Zane with an orb of dark magic while Brachio-radius swiped him with his tail. Zane, for his part, remained completely stoic even as his life points plummeted.
Zane: 2000
"Funny, that almost tickled."
The Reaper snarled, but conceited that nothing else could be done.
"I'll end my turn with one card face down. Your move."
Zane silently drew his card. He already knew he was going to win.
"I must say, you disappointed me. I expected more from you, but I was disappointed. First, I'll start with my trap card, Rebirth Judgment! Now, all monsters in the graveyard become Dragon types!"
"Fool! Did you forget about my Paladin (3900-9400)?"
"No, but that won't matter in a minute, for I activate Cyberdark Impact! Now I banish the Cyberdark Horn, Edge, and Heel from my graveyard to fusion summon Cyberdark Dragon (1000/1000)!"
"Big whoop! It only has a measly 1000 attack points!"
"That's why it has a special ability. When he's summoned, I can take a Dragon type monster from my graveyard and equip it to him, like my Cyber Laser Dragon, and let him gain that monster's attack points (1000-3400)! What's more, he gains 100 attack points for every monster in my graveyard (3400-3900), which is more than enough to finish you off! Cyberdark Dragon, attack his Crawling Dragon!"
"Fool! I activate the trap card, Mirror Force! So much for your mighty dragon!"
But Zane just smirked wickedly.
"I activate my other face down, Trap Jammer!"
The Reaper's face fell, and he could only watch in horror as the energy wave decimated his monster before hitting him, sending him flying into the bleachers with a sickening crunch.

Zane wordlessly deactivated his Duel Disk and left the duel arena, not caring for his fallen opponent.
In the locker room, our heroes could only stare in shock at Zane's brutal display of power, but none more so than Syrus.
"Zane…why?"
