Chapter 4 part 2 Hope
(I used to have pearly white fur, honeyed eyes and white wings. And in my human form I had honey blond hair and honey eyes and my bell was blue as sapphire) her eyes soften as she jumps down and keeps looking.
'you heard about it too right?' a man asks 'yeh I heard about it but the only places attacked are villages further north right? the other guy replies.
'yeh but what is there to stop them from moving further south?' the first guy asks.
'well so far It seems the magic knights have it under control' the other says.
'yeh, but they are spread pretty thin lately with all the repairs and such' the first one says.
'you are right, well if it doesn't end soon I believe they will have to put that on hold' he says.
'you are right about that but there are still places in need, from what I last heard. I wonder where those spectral beasts they call them came from?'
'who knows' the other says.
(spectral beasts like the ones we fought while helping that Village I believe...) Millie wonders and keeps going.
She stops as a couple of teens run by.
'Hey careful you don't, go overboard, remember you only got the grimoar a few months ago' a lady says. 'I understand mother but we have to keep training so that we might become magic knights' the teen says and starts to run.
'fine but be sure to be back by dinner' the lady yells. 'we will' the kid exclaims to his mother and keeps going.
(So they are 15 and is just starting out...) she wonders and looks at the sky as a warm breeze blows through the calm town. She looks at the people walking about.
(I remember when I got my bell I was so exited and, a little scared too as it meant that I had to go out into the big world on my own...) her eyes trail the landscape as memories flows forward.
(My mother handed me and my siblings the same age as me a white bell with a white ribbon each that we put on before we stood in a circle in the round library.)
(We looked at the round sealing window and the moon shone through and a spell got activated and beams of light went into each our bell and they changed color. My sister Malissa's bell became yellow and mine blue.)
(A blue chain came out of my bell around my neck and led to the book of contract and a book of my abilities came to being next to it, they looked the same as now except the color was blue. yes even the books connected to me was different)
(Then a mark came to be on my arm and it said 2 years) she keeps looking around and she sees the others. 'Wait if I got this close to them it must mean I am no longer in my assigned part of town' she utter to herself and turns around. (my sense of direction is still bad...)
(Time passed on and, my siblings had already left the den. I was still home with my younger siblings. )
('Millie why have you not gone on your quest to find a contractor yet?' my mother asked, her blue eyes soft and her honeyed hair lays softly around her face as the back is pulled into a big pony tail)
(I doubt life shield magic has much to do in battle, besides I feel better staying at home protecting the younger ones' I told her)
('You have a kind heart Millie, but I sense fear is what is actually holding you back' she said. 'well I' I fumbled with my words.)
('Millie you need to go out there, remember the clock on your arm is your bell telling you how much longer you get to live without a contractor' my mother lectured)
('on top of that, if you are not going out there and start working on strengthening your soul, body and, mana you will never be able to survive the transition of your tail splitting' she added. )
('I know that mother I just' I still hesitated.)
('perhaps a little fresh air is what you need hmm... why don't you come with me and your younger siblings for a hike tomorrow' my mother told me and I obliged.)
(The next day was sunny and warm and I helped out with the younger ones set up camp at our arrival.)
(I was gathering some firewood and I stopped and I looked at the treeline and I let out a small hiss 'Millie it is all right' I heard mother say and so I eased up and saw the person walk out from the woods it was a familiar like me but from a different clan.)
(His hair is light brown with light grey lines in it. 'hey there Millentie's, and you must be Millie your mother told me about you, you had a few issues' he says and I slightly blushed and looked over to mother. 'oh the name is Vortex by the way' he says with a cheesy smile and extended his hand to greet me and I greeted in return.)
(Later I made dinner while my mother and Vortex where chatting as the kids are running around playing learning to control their shifts.)
(The dinner was served and I waited until everyone had started eating before I took a small bowl... I love rabbit stew)
('hey this isn't half bad, who knew you could make something that actually taste good' he teases.
I was never sure what to say back so I remained quiet and his face dropped a little.)
(Oh no what did I do? Did I offend him some how?) I wondered and watched as he and mother continued talking and I cleaned up the bowls.)
('now that business has been taken care off why don't you and Millie go out and spar for a bit' mother said.
'that suits me just fine' he said and stands up. 'let us go Little Mill' he told me.)
('mother I' I uttered and she looked at me. 'Millie remember' she said. 'right Mother' I replied trusting her dentition.)
(After that me and Vortex went into the woods and spared. )
('your shield magic is quite good at defending against shocks from offensive spells however' he says and takes out his arm. 'Ice creation magic ice spike' he uttered and a big spike of ice formed around his arm and he went straight for my shield and he punched it and kept pushing further and further into it until my shield broke and his fist collided with my face.)
('as I thought it doesn't hold well against consistent pressure, so you need to find a way to combat that.' he explained)
('One more thing, once I got inside it was easy to land a strike on you which means you should focus on learning evasion, because of the nature of your magic I think you will benefit from becoming agile and learning a few combat techniques wouldn't hurt ether' he told me 'understood' I uttered)
('just look at me, the way my Ice magic behaves I have to do more physical things with it in order to use it properly which is why I have trained these babies up' he said proudly and flexes his muscles. I blushed and nodded.)
('now let us keep going' he told me and I nodded 'right' I let out softly and we sparred until late in the evening.)
(He went at my shield once more (come on) I thought to myself and I started to spin the shield around. 'nice work, now it is way harder for me to pierce through' he uther through his teeth trying to dig into it. I collected my mana and expanded the shield knocking him off it)
(nice work, it is as expected from a Millenty to have growth like this' he complements and I put down my shield breathing hard from training)
('well that should be it for today, call me up any time after this and we can spar some more' he said with a warm friendly smile. 'ofcorse mister' I replied.)
('you are a bit more quiet than the rest of your family aren't you' he says. 'I uh' I uttered.)
(I saw a boar charging in. 'Look out' I yelled and ran over to him and I put up a shield around us and the boar knocked into ithe shield knocking himself out.)
('phew that was close thanks Mill' he calls me. 'why do you call me that' I asked. And he looks at my spell ignoring my question.)
('My one can not tell from the outside but within it, it feels so warm and gentle underneath this protective spell of yours, I can already tell why you got this magic' he told me with a smile.)
(He looked at me and his eyes went cold and dark … he looked away 'is something the matter Vortex?' I asked. 'No I just, just forget it' he told me.)
(After that I got a bit more confident in my abilities and I met him a few more times before I headed out into the world to find a contractor and that journey was... different than I imagined...) she thinks to herself looking at the sun going down in the sky.
'It is dusk and nothing' she hears Vanessas voice and she walks over to Asta and Vanessa and she climbs up to the roof of the nearest building.
'So no luck on your end ether?' Asta ask. 'nope nothing' she says.
Rumble
'uh, I guess it is time to eat according to your stomach' Vanessa says.
'Uh, It seems so' Asta says while blushing and Nero flies over them and lands on Astas head. ''I couldn't find anything ether' she says.
'Maybe he isn't here?' Asta asks and looks around. 'hmm' , 'ether way we could all use a break' Vanessa says. 'agreed' Nero replies and they find a bench at the end of the village.
'it is strange that we haven't seen any sign of the guy, from the report, they predicted that this is where he would show up next' Vanessa says.
'you think they might have predicted wrong?' Asta asks. 'maybe, hmm' Vanessa starts to think Rumble... 'it sounds like you are hungry too' Asta smiles and Vanessa blushes and smiles 'yes a little' she replies as they arrive by the bench.
'It has been a while since this morning' Nero utter and flies off and transform to her human form and Liebe turns full size next to her and they sit down, and Vanessa hands them all a packed meal each.
They all start to eat and chat for a bit.
Asta looks around them 'hang on, where is Millie?' he asks 'I was so sure she was with us just now'.
'She headed for the forest a moment ago' Nero tells him.
'What really? What is she doing there?' he asks and looks at Liebe.
'How should I know? She heads to the forest at the same time every morning and night' Liebe informs. (And I am still sure that she is hiding something) he thinks to himself.
'Really what could she be doing in the forest every day?' he asks.
'Why not just ask her?' Vanessa states. 'I guess I can do that once she gets back' he says.
'Or you could just call on her' she tells him. 'Call on her?' he asks.
'yeah, she is your familiar remember. So, she will come when you call. No matter what' Vanessa says 'you really think that I should?' he asks.
'well it can't hurt to try' Vanessa tells him.
'Right' Asta replies and takes a deep breath.
Meanwhile Millie is in her cat form and licks blood off her lips.
'MILLIE!' Astas scream runs through the valley and the birds fly from the sudden sound.
Millie starts to run and using white flames she burns away the stains from her mouth and paws.
'you think that worked' Asta ask. 'I meant to call on her through the contract' Vanessa says taking her hands of her ears. 'what how do I do that?' Asta asks. 'well uh' she utter.
