Snippet 04- Among Us
Timeline- During the Halloween party in 'The Ten-Year Turnabout'.
*The Skeld*
"Whoo-hoo! This is so rad, flying through outer space!" Neptune exclaimed, dressed in a bulky purple spacesuit with only her face visible. Everyone around her was dressed similarly, though their spacesuits were all different colors. "Don't you think so, Nep Jr?"
"Ordinarily I would be, but..." Nepgear hesitated. "We got a garbled message from headquarters... it cut off halfway through, but it says that one of the crew was found dead at base. One of our crew."
"Huh? But everyone here's present and accounted for!" Uni spoke up.
"But that can only mean one thing," said Noire. "We have an impostor among us!"
(Among Us game start jingle)
"B-but which one of us c-could it be?" Rei Ryghts asked nervously.
"I'm scared, Big Sis! I wanna go home!" Rom fussed.
"It's too damn late for that now," Blanc shook her head.
"Don't worry, Rom! I'll protect you from the impostor!" Ram said enthusiastically.
"Yes, for now, we should split up into pairs," Vert suggested. "That should keep the impostor from trying anything..."
"B-but there's an odd number of p-people here!" Rei pointed out. "D-does that mean I'll b-be the odd one out?!"
"Well, I'm staying with Noire," Uni said.
"And I'm staying with Neptune!" Nepgear affirmed. "I'll definitely be able to tell if something's off with her!"
"Yeah, the rest of us might just dismiss it as Neptune being Neptune," Blanc deadpanned.
"We're sticking together too!" Rom and Ram said in unison.
"I'll come with you," Blanc said. "Rei, you go with Thunder Tits for now."
"Um, okay," the lawyer CPU nodded in agreement.
"Right, we've all got tasks to do, so let's get to work!" Neptune exclaimed, the girls exchanging good-byes as they split up...
*Main Reactor*
"Umm, so how do I start the reactor?" Rei asked as she looked at the control panel.
"It's like that old Simon game, you have to memorize the pattern and press the buttons in the correct order," Vert advised.
"Oh, okay... I th-think I can do that," Rei nodded as she started the task. Unfortunately, she messed up on the fourth press, forcing her to start over, but she got it on the second try. "Phew, I did it! Are you done, Lady Vert?" She turned-
-only to see Vert's spacesuit lying on the ground, a single bone sticking out where her head should have been! Before Rei could do anything, Neptune and Nepgear came running in!
"Ahhhh! Vert's decapitated! Deceased! Deader than a doornail!" Neptune exclaimed with her eyes shrunk to white circles.
"I-it's not what it looks like!" Rei screamed, waving her hands frantically.
DEAD BODY REPORTED
Instantly, everyone was gathered around the main conference table in the cafeteria. "Check it out! Nep Jr. was realigning the upper engine, and then we went to do the lower one... but I peeked into the reactor room, and there was Rei standing over Vert's body!" Neptune explained.
"No no no!" Rei cried in denial. "I-I was d-doing that start reactor task! B-but I messed up and had to start over...!"
"And you didn't see Vert get killed?" Noire asked in disbelief.
"Rei sus! Rei sus!" Ram chanted.
"Ram, quiet down," Blanc chided. "Did any of the other groups separate at any point?"
"I was with Neptune the whole time," Nepgear stated. "I mean, there are a couple of vents in the reactor room, but..."
"I was doing the asteroid task, while Noire was downloading," Uni said.
"Yes, and I was just about to finish when Vert went belly up!" Noire said with a visible vein on her forehead. "Now I'll have to do it all over again!"
"We were with Big Sis all along!" Ram exclaimed, Rom nodding in agreement.
"Welp, time to vote, everyone," Neptune declared. "Do we eject Rei or not?"
"Nooo! Not into the vacuum of space!" Rei pleaded.
Unfortunately, most of the votes went to Rei, with Nepgear and Rei herself voting to skip.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" Rei screamed as she was promptly shoved out of the airlock into deep space, never to be seen again...
(LawyerRei was not The Impostor.)
"...Oops. Look like we made a boo-boo," Neptune bowed her head in shame.
"Well, it's Rei's own fault for not making a better defense for herself!" Noire argued. "You'd think an Ace Attorney would at least try to bluff something!"
"Seems our previous strategy didn't work, so let's switch things up," Blanc suggested. "I'm going with Neptune this time. Rom, you go with Nepgear. Ram, you go with Uni."
"I don't wanna! I'm scared, Big Sis!" Rom clung tightly to Blanc. "What if Miss Nepgear is the impostor?! She and Neptune were the closest to Miss Vert!"
"All right, all right," Blanc sighed. "In that case, Nepgear goes with Noire instead."
"Well, I'd rather go with Uni, but... okay," Nepgear assented.
"Just try not to interrupt me when I'm doing my download! Got it?" Noire asserted as the group split up again.
"Don't get killed, everyone!" Ram encouraged.
*Oxygen Room*
"How the heck did leaves get into the filter?!" Noire complained as she moved said leaves to get sucked up by the intake.
"Maybe it happened before we launched?" Nepgear guessed. "Anyway, we need to go to storage in the south to eject the trash next."
"Okay... um, which way was that, again?"
"This way," Nepgear gestured, Noire following at a distance for safety's sake... "Goodness, stop acting like I'm going to chop your head off!"
*Security Room*
"Well, there goes Nep Jr. and Lonely Heart," Neptune observed from the camera feed. "Wonder how Ram and Uni are doing..." She then saw the two emerging from Medbay. "Oh, there they are. Well, better go back and check on Blanc..." She promptly left.
EMERGENCY MEETING
Everyone was gathered around the conference table. "Okay, what was that for?!" Noire yelled. "Nobody's even dead yet!"
"Well, that's what we wanted to check on," Uni asserted. "We got done with our stuff in Medbay..."
"Yeah, Uni scanned, so she's safe," Ram nodded.
"Well, a grand total of one suspect eliminated," Blanc deadpanned. "I gotta go back to electrical, that one task with the spinning circles keeps tripping me up..."
"Um, I fixed wires, but there's another one I have to do south of here," Rom said.
"Alright, let's skip then," Neptune nodded.
(No one was ejected- Skipped)
*Electrical*
"Come on, come on..." Blanc muttered, waiting for the second circle to move into the right position, then pressing the button... but she was too late and both reset as a result. "DAMMIT!" She took a step back from the panel. "How the hell is anyone supposed to-"
Suddenly a pair of hands grabbed her head, twisting hard and snapping her neck, her lifeless body falling to the ground. The Impostor then quickly exited via the nearby vent... A few minutes later, Uni and Ram walked into the chamber.
"AAHHHHH! Big Sis!" Ram cried in horror.
DEAD BODY REPORTED
"Oh no! Blanc is dead!" Nepgear cried in dismay.
"Well, Nepgear was with me in Navigation, so it wasn't her," Noire asserted. "Where were you, Neptune?"
"Me? I was watching stuff in Security," Neptune replied. "Blanc was having trouble with her task, so I got bored and left."
"Which way did you go?" Uni asked.
"Duh, I went by the lower engine to get up there," the lilac-haired CPU replied.
"OBJECTION!" Ram suddenly cried. "Me and Uni went to Electrical that way, we didn't see you! And hall's really narrow, so there's no way we woulda missed you!"
"Nep what?!" Neptune gasped in shock. "I thought you guys went the other way!"
"Come to think of it, there's a vent in Security that connects to Electrical," Nepgear mused. "Oh goodness! That means...!"
"Neptune! You're the impostor!" Noire declared, drawing her rapier. "You might have fooled Nepgear with your act, but the jig's up now!"
"Aw snap! And here I thought I was clever by killing off Vert and framing the lawyer!" 'Neptune' lamented.
"Ha ha! Did you forget forget that Rom and I were dressed as Devil Rei's evil legal assistants?!" Ram taunted. "You shoulda known better than to underestimate me!"
"Grr! And I'd've gotten away with it, if it weren't for you meddling CPU Candidates!" the fake Neptune growled, shaking her fist.
"Toss her out the airlock!" Nepgear exclaimed in a rare display of anger. The impostor was quickly overpowered and shoved out of The Skeld into space.
"I wIlL HaVe My ReVeNge...!" 'Neptune' cried as she floated away, her torso opening to reveal a long, sharp tongue...
(NepNep was The Impostor.)
*Lowee Basilicom*
"Yay, we won!" Ram exclaimed as 'Victory' displayed on her computer screen.
"Honestly, Neptune, you shouldn't have said you were in Security," Nepgear sighed.
"Yeah, yeah, so I suck at being a villain, sue me," Neptune sighed. "Hey Vert, no hard feelings, right?"
"Of course not. It's just a game, after all," Vert replied serenely.
"Grrr, I can't believe you managed to pin the blame on me, maggot!" Rei growled. "If I get impostor next time, you're gonna burn!"
"Geez, take it easy, Rei," Neptune sighed. "Anyway, I think it's too unfair to have just one impostor... we should do a two-impostor game next time."
"Yeah, that did seem a bit too easy," Blanc agreed. "My getting killed notwithstanding..."
"Shall we have another game, then?" Vert suggested.
"J-just don't k-kill me off first this t-time, please..." Rei sighed.
*Back on The Skeld*
"...there! Task complete!" Vert said smugly. "Honestly, how did Blanc have so much trouble with this one..." Turning to leave, she spotted Rom standing a short distance away. "Oh, hello Rom! Do you need someone to escort you?"
"Th-that would be nice..." Rom nodded with a slight smile.
"Wonderful~! Let's see if we can find your other sis-" She was cut off as a long sharp tongue impaled her head through the visor.
"...Hee hee, you're too easy, Miss Vert," Rom chuckled as her torso closed back up.
