Chapter 1:
Another day another circus act. At least that's what everyone who isn't a first-tier member knows. The circus that I'm a part of is just a ruse to capture innocent little children for my father's experiment. The circus members and I would prefer to not abduct but we have to on father's orders. The only reason I can see him wanting to go through all this trouble is for the Earl Phantomhive. Not the one that died in the fire many years ago, but his son. It's not understandable as to why our father is obsessed with the boy. It irks me every time I'm with him. Always ranting about how Ciel Phantomhive is a god in his eyes and how much he deserves to meet the boy. Complete nonsense to me.
Coming back to reality and out of my thoughts, I noticed the citizens of London beginning to exit their homes, each one clapping as they saw our little sneak peek performances. It was something that I was used to. It made me feel even worse because I knew some of these people were parents and their child was going to be missing in a few days. As I thought about the children the small smile on my face diminished with each passing second. Thinking of those sobbing parents made this job completely useless. We were supposed to bring happiness to everyone, even if it was for a short period of time and we were taking it away just as fast as we brought it. So this time instead of joining in on the stunts I put the flyers on the walls to let people who didn't come out know that we would be staying for a couple of days.
After walking in the streets for a while we finally found a large enough place to set up camp. It didn't take too long to settle down considering we've been doing this for a while. But since we had a show later that day I decided to practice my act a little bit to not have the possibility of messing up my act in the show. I was a pretty decent acrobat. I'm not exactly a part of the first tiers but I was a part of the show because they trusted me. I didn't want to be in the first-tier because I didn't see the need to. I was a member of the circus, something I've grown to call family... or the closest thing I can get to a family.

Soon night came and the show was almost starting. My act was before Beast so it meant that I had to work a bit harder to impress the crowd. British nobles are much harder to entertain seeing as how they have a more specific reason to be entertained, unlike Americans. Americans, like myself, find puppies entertaining which makes everything easier for a performer like me.
For my act, I had to jump from the tightrope onto the flying trapeze and onto the trampoline. It was a bit tricky, especially if a person was human. But seeing as how I was only on the brink of not being human it wasn't too difficult. Looking out at the crowd after landing on the ground from the trampoline, I noticed everyone clapping... except two people. They looked like they were eyeing me suspiciously. I know I may not be fully human but I don't think they were either. Well at least one of them. The short one looked like he could be human because he wasn't as handsome as the tall one.
After my act Joker came back out and called for a volunteer for Beast's act. The tall one that I suspected wasn't human stood up, not too soon but a few seconds after Joker called for a volunteer. I thought he was lucky cause no one else was raising their hand. But funnily enough, he began walking down the stairs and passed Joker and Beast without even being called to walk up and was walking towards me. I didn't think he'd want anything with me, so I just stood there standing close to Betty. It seemed I was right because instead of talking to me he bent down and started petting Betty. It surprised everyone, including me. He was mumbling to himself about her fur and paws and almost everything about her. And when he asked her if it was alright, and yes I do mean the cat, she bit down on his head. He didn't even seem bothered by it. Beast immediately began going into hysterics and tried to whip Betty but the man caught it while he was taking his head out of Betty's mouth. What surprised me was he wasn't even looking in the way of the whip. But as he stopped it Beast got angry. Once again Betty bit him on the head and, once again, Beast got angry. But I almost couldn't control my laughter. Especially when the man told Betty "You're a feisty one aren't you? I admire that."

Sometime after the end of the performance, I ended up with Beast. I decided to help put all the tigers out back in their cage (and I'm pretty sure I saw more than one tiger). Once we finished we decided to head to Doc's tent to check Beast's prosthetic leg. Beast didn't want me to go with her but I wanted to because I wasn't exactly ready to go to bed yet. There was something telling me gi with her. Surprisingly I saw the man who got bitten by Betty. But when Beast saw him her face began turning tomato red. Getting angrier by the second, Beast began yelling at the top of her lungs, causing Dagger to attempt to stop her from making too much of a scene.
"You're that dandy from earlier! What do you think you're doin'! After the way you ruined my act you ought to be-" she was cut off by doc.
"That's enough! Speaking that way to a guest is just plain unacceptable. It wasn't his fault it was yours for not being able to control Betty."
Beast couldn't control her anger enough and was close to spewing more nonsense until Joker came up to her and started calming her down. He calmed her down enough to get her to sit down and have Doc fix her leg.
But without a second thought, I looked at the man who was still standing in the tent with us. I noticed the look in his eyes, something that said he found something he might have been looking for. Whether it was the prosthetic or a woman like Beast I wouldn't know. As he began walking to Beast I couldn't help but tense a little at his unexpected action. He walked briskly to Beast and picked up her leg while taking a thorough look at the material. Beast immediately began blushing like mad and snapped when he got a little too close and personal for her liking. And it seemed that Dagger also didn't like what the man was doing because he launched an attack of his knives at him. It shocked me to see that he was dodging it like it was nothing. Dagger was the circus' best knife thrower, even I had trouble dodging his knives sometimes. The mysterious man jumped on a bar in the tent in an attempt to continue dodging the knives and was smirking as if he was enjoying making Dagger angry. Soon Beast began attacking him with her whip, which caused Joker and me to try to stop them both from destroying the tent that was almost close to being one giant hole.
"Dagger that's enough!"
Soon he was seeing flowers and the smell of them overwhelmed his nose, calming him down significantly. Joker, however, just used his charms and fake flowers to stop Beast.
"Tada!" He was creepy sometimes but him saying tada at random times and bringing out flowers weirded me out the most. "Alrigh' that's enough fun for now," Joker said with a smile.
"WHA-! THAT'S NOT FAIR!" Dagger complained, coming out of his stooper. While they were talking doc was complaining the loudest about how Joker and I could've stopped them from destroying the tent sooner. Then Joker started rubbing on Beast's prosthetic leg. "Now now, it's such a handsome leg. Ye can hardly blame the fella for wantin' to feel it, now can ye? Go on dear take the flowers."
Beast was very red in the face and huffed in annoyance as she went to stand by Dagger. I didn't want to be near her for two reasons: she was mad and I also wanted to find out more about the man. He finally noticed that I was in the room and came over to me.
"May I ask your name?" His voice was very silky and smooth. I couldn't help but feel my spine tingle. I looked up at his six-foot-tall frame and cursed my 5'6" height. "Hi I'm Bird. Pleasure to meet you Mr.~"
"Sebastian Michaelis."
"Well, now that ye met Bird how 'bout we get down to business. Well that was quite the acrobatics there sir. I reckon I would hire ye I would, right quick."
He, impossibly fast and creepy, went up to Joker. His face looked so serious I thought his face would come off. " Is your offer sincere? Honestly, I might not mind a change of occupation. My current master is so spoiled I'd be happy to be done with him."
"Master is it? A servant is a bit of a surprise-" I cut him off saying, "After all you do speak very proper. Not only that but you're dressed like a gentleman."
"Me one of the gentry? You see, I'm simply one hell of a butler. But, if your offer was a serious one I would very much like to take you up on that."
"HAHAHAHA! Funny and handsome! Join us if ye like! We'd be happy to have ye!"
This seemed to piss Beast off even more than she already was. I wasn't in the mood anymore to stay and hear her yelling so I left to go to my tent. As I was walking I saw Snake and couldn't help but smile a little. We were really good friends considering he wasn't much of a talker. Only his snakes talked through him, that's the only way he would talk. But I didn't mind it because I knew there must have been a reason as to why he only talked through his snakes.
"Hello, Snake. It's good to see you."
" 'It is good to see you too' says Emily."
"I came to tell you that there's a new recruit. You might see him around tonight in case he decides to leave by himself. So if you do see him don't scare him too much. But please keep a close eye on him. He seems a bit... weird."
" 'Of course' says Keats.' "
I left him alone like he was before and trotted to my tent. I was extremely tired from tonight's events but I decided to go outside and fly. And I literally mean fly. I, for some odd reason, have wings that look like angel wings. I know I'm not an angel because I would have some type of angelic powers. It's strange though to me, how I've somehow equipped this now a great necessity in my life without knowing how and why I got them.
As I was flying I noticed Snake with the man whose name was Sebastian. He must have wondered in the first-tier section like I assumed and saw him walking away. As he was walking to the carriage outside of the circus area he looked up. Thankfully I was high enough where I thought I couldn't be seen. But it was as if he sensed me above him. It seemed impossible for a human to know I was up in the sky, which gave me the though...
Is he human?
But what was priceless was him looking shocked before the disgusted look appeared on his face.
Ok that's the end of this chapter. I hope you liked it! Bye ^_^
