I know I haven't updated in about half a year but it's not really my fault. Really, who knew there would be teachers who would give you a hard time even if you are trying your best. Plus, I was literally about to fucking scream at one of my teachers. Do you know how difficult it is to control your fucking anger when something is being blamed on you? Nevermind onward with the story because... you know... why not? Revised May 10, 2020
Chapter 16:
I trekked my way back to the kitchen in hope of consuming dinner. I hadn't seen Sebastian all day which was already strange. I expected him to at least be with the young master but seeing I had to make his lunch earlier told me otherwise. As I walked into the kitchen, I found a folded paper in the center of the island. Figuring it was one of Bard's jokes I opened it. Instead of a joke, it was a letter.
Celesta,
You are the only one capable of fixing the young master's dinner. The ingredients for the young master's dinner are all in the pantry. I believe you are able enough to make a simple roast beef with vegetables on the side. Do not let the others, especially Bardroy, into the kitchen. I hope to see the mansion still in one piece by the time I return tonight.
~SM
Well, I thought, Looks like things are being put in my hands again.
It felt strange being left to do Sebastian's work. He hadn't fully trusted me yet to not poison his master. But I was the only one next to Tanaka who was capable of completing a simple task. But Tanaka was too tired to anything so I didn't mind having to prepare the dinner.
I entered the pantry in search of the ingredients and walked back into the main area of the kitchen. I placed the food items down and placed both hands on the edge of the countertop.
I hope I don't fail this.

The kitchen sat before in a messy state. I was never the cleanest when it came to cooking but it didn't matter. I believed that no matter when a person cleaned, as long as it was cleaned it was fine.
I grabbed the dish and placed it on the trolley and grabbed the steaming teapot and placed it alongside the teacup and saucer for the young master. I walked through the door into the dining hall and saw the Earl sat at the head of the table, no other person there besides himself. Looking, he seemed lonely but content with his loneliness as well.
I walked closer to his right and set the plate down in front of him.
"For dinner today, I made roast beef with oven-baked asparagus on the side. Accompanying the dish is cranberry tea."
The Earl grabbed his knife and fork and began cutting into a slice of the beef and brought it to his mouth and places it, slowly chewing as if testing the meal. He placed his hands on the edge of the table and looked up at me.
"It is not as egregious as I expected it to be."
"Thank you," I said, taking a small bow with my hands clasped in front of me.
I brought the little trolley along with me to the side of the young master, not too close to becoming uncomfortable to us both, but close enough to be used if necessary. I didn't know what to do while standing there. All I could do was look around the dining hall and genuinely take in everything that I hadn't before. Everything seemed clean as if no one had been in this room yet. The white linen on the dining table was a crisp white. The few cabinets in the room were brown and standing tall in three of the corners. I looked at the young master and watched as he ate, noticing the way he slowly chewed the beef. I even noticed the way his eyebrows caved in just a little every time he took a bite. It was adorable.
I didn't notice a butler clad in black enter the room as I continued watching the young Earl until I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I turned to my right and noticed his infamous closed eye smile. He leaned closer to my face and I turned my head away from him, only to hear him whisper.
"You may leave now. I will assist the master from here."
Without making a single sound, I stepped away from Sebastian and walked into the main entrance of the manor and stood there, not knowing what to do. It was 7 in the afternoon and I don't normally sleep until 10, so I didn't know what my next step was.
I guess I'll just starting reading until I'm needed.

I stood up from the chair that I was sitting in and placed the book I was reading back in the spot where I first picked it up. I had been thinking more than reading as I sat there for almost three hours. Sebastian was on an errand for the young master and I wanted to know what it was. This was one of the few times where I wasn't allowed to know what was happening and it was irritating me to no end.
I began walking to his room with little to no hesitation or nervousness and knocked on the door. I waited for it to open only for a voice to erupt behind me.
"What are you doing outside of my room?"
"You were gone an awfully long time today..." I turned around and faced him. I took a step back noticing the lack of space between us.
"I was running an errand for the young master."
"For a demon that took quite a bit of time."
His eyelids moved closer together as he glared at me and took a step toward me. I stepped back in retaliation only for the back of my foot to hit the door. Complete silence was engulfing my ears as I stood close to the door of the demon.
"I am not obliged to tell you about my whereabouts."
"I understand that you both don't completely trust. Especially since you both think I'm only doing this out of vengeance for my circus family. But I would like to not accidentally end up dead because both of you are twiddling your fingers over whether or not you should tell me."
I crossed my arms over my chest and stared up at his taller frame. I was getting more annoyed by the minute and was starting to lose the calmness I came here with.
"We are trusting you to make the right choices when the time comes."
"Ironic..."
I walked away from him and began heading towards my room.
I laid on my bed looked up at the ceiling, sleep not wanting to take me away from the bitter feeling consuming me. For what felt like a few hours, I finally fell into a dreamless sleep.

I woke up with the sun barely rising, the sky mainly dark from the night and the sun creating a small light blue hue. I got dressed in my maid attire and walked to the kitchen, hoping to make a piece of toast. Each day my appetite was getting less and less and I knew it was a problem.
As I was munching, I hear groggy moaning coming from outside the door. I turn around and in walks Bard and a tired Finny.
"Are you guys alright? You seem tired."
"We're alright Celesta. Just the usual," Bard says, rubbing his eyes as he pulls a seat from under the island and sits down followed by Finny.
"What do you guys want for breakfast? Since you're tired I'll make you something."
"I wouldn't want you doing something you don't want to Miss Celesta," says adorable little Finny.
"It's completely fine. I'll make you guys pancakes."
Mey-rin soon walked in five minutes, rubbing her eyes under her glasses and began sniffing the air.
"I smell something good, yes I do."
"That, Mey-rin, is my infamous pancakes. These were one of the few foods that my members loved to eat. Made with care and extra butter."
I placed the pancakes on each of their plates and Tanaka's as well. He sat in the corner of the kitchen while the others chewed the soft dough feverishly.
Soon everyone was finished and given jobs by Sebastian and went our separate ways. I walked around the manor, listening for any destruction and softly smiled to myself as I thought of the mess the trio were going to make.
OK, everyone! That is where I am going to leave this chapter! I know this is a weird place to leave everything but you know, this is the best I could do considering the fact that I wrote a lot to compensate for missed time. Until next time BYE ^_^
