Chapter 22:
I woke up to a loud scream after I fell asleep. It sounded like someone had witnessed a murder or a murder scene. The thought of Sebastian's body immediately came to the forefront of my mind and I rushed out of bed to see what was happening. I draped over a robe and padded my feet down the hallway to the room I knew where Sebastian's body was. I arrived at the scene at the same time as the young master and we both looked at each other with wide eyes. Both of us turned serious with a knowing nod and walked inside where everyone else was before us, Arthur still attached to the Earl.
Ciel's eyes opened so wide that he seemed truly shocked at finding his demonic butler dead. I covered my mouth with my hand as I stood, knowing that I was supposed to act as if he was actually dead. I analyzed the position that he was in and took notice of the obvious poker sticking out of his chest and the blood from his wound still bleeding. His eyes were open as if he had seen a monster. Though the thought is ironic.
Ciel began to walk towards Sebastian until Mey-rin tried to hold him back.
"No young master you don't want to go any further!"
"You guys! Let go of him!" I yelled. Finny and Mey-rin both looked at me with the same amount of shock on their faces. "He has to deal with this his own way. Just let him be..."
Both began to slowly let go of Ciel realizing that they could do nothing to stop him from wanting to get close to Sebastian. I didn't think anything of the reason why he would want to get close to him until I saw him hitting Sebastian across the face. I had to try my hardest to not laugh because at that moment I knew he was doing it on purpose. I covered my mouth with both hands to try to stop myself from laughing.
Though I also had to admit that his acting skills were very good. His tears made everyone in the room start crying... everyone except for Grey and I. I found it hard to cry but Grey's reason for not crying was obvious. He didn't seem to happy about the death of Sebastian, or more like the situation, he was in because of the death. He looked uncomfortable and uncaring as he kept slightly switching the balance between legs. Ciel bent down and as he was bending towards Sebastian's ear he whispered something. I couldn't hear what he had said but I did see an inkling of a smile on his face as he said it.
It reminded me... I need to see Sebastian after everyone leaves. But it was going to be difficult since everyone was wary of leaving anyone alone
"The body will decay soon. It's best if we move him," Grey spoke up. His nonchalance made me warier of him. I didn't trust him at all being with anyone for too long, especially alone.
Mey-rin tried yanking Ciel off, but he still acted as if Sebastian was dead. Not wanting to stand by the door anymore, I stood next to Arthur.
"The Earl couldn't have committed this murder," Lau said, "He was chained to you and locked in a room when it happened... My how the plot thickens."
Lau had opened his eyes at the said statement. Arthur looked at him with a face of disgust and soon turned away in dismay. Shaking out of his stooper, Arthur began to walk over to Sebastian to examine him.
"It looks like someone struck him from behind while he was stoking the fire, before taking the finishing blow..."
"So they decided to attack twice to make sure he was absolutely dead... how unforgivable," I said.
"No. It was most likely two separate attacks..."
"Two killers instead of one would make sense," Grey piped up, still sounding uncaring as ever.
"Yes. They weren't taking any chances with the butler so they decided t-" Lau was cut off by Finny.
"Don't talk like that in front of the young master! Can't you see he's still grieving!"
"It's alright Finny. I'm pretty sure all of us don't want to be talking about this kind of thing in front of him either," I said.
"He's right. I think after we've moved him we should talk this over a nice meal," Grey said.
"Do you ever stop eating, you fat ass..." I murmured under my breath. He turned to me as I turned away, lifting my head up as I face Sebastian's body.
"I agree," Lau spoke.
"Then it's settled!" Grey put both his arms on the back of his head and began walking out of the room. "After you see to that thing make breakfast won't you?"
After the guests and left I scoffed.
"God I hate Grey. This entire time he said nothing that he meant. None of it! I swear once he does something that crosses the line my foot will be the first thing he's gonna feel up his ass!"
"Celesta!" Everyone exclaimed.
"What? It's true! Believe me when I say this I will keep my temper under control, but if he so much as breathes the wrong way he won't be able to sit down because of how deep my foot is gonna be in his ass..."
"Celesta," Ciel spoke up, "he's right for now. Take Sebastian's body to the cellar. I apologize for losing control like that. As your master it is unacceptable." Ciel looked down. He was such a good actor I couldn't help but let out an airy chuckle, one that no one but myself and possibly Sebastian could hear.
"Tanaka..." he walked up to his tall stature, "as of this moment on you are now the head butler... until I find a new one at least."
"It is an honor, young master. I highly accept this great responsibility," Tanaka said while bowing.
"Alright everyone I need you to prepare the bath first thing. Mey-rin you will heat the water. And Finny you will carry the water to the bathrooms. Of course this will be done after you have taken care of Sebastian."
"Yes sir!"
"Pardon young master but we need to see to your attire. The head of the mansion should not be rattled by the death of a mere servant. It would be most unseemly I'm afraid. The previous Phantomhive would not have gotten rattled by something such as this."
"I see you're as strict as ever... After everyone is done tending to Sebastian I want Celesta with me as well as you Tanaka. She is the head maid after all and the head butler's assistant."
"Yes young master."
While Bard and Finny took Sebastian to the cellar, Mey-rin went to go heat up the water for the young master. Tanaka and I walked to one of the guest bathrooms since Phelps was currently residing in the young master's bedroom.
I stepped out of the bathroom to give the two men privacy. Before I completely closed the door Ciel spoke.
"Celesta, I would like to speak with you after I am done."
"Yes young master."

"Tanaka, go set up the table for the guests."
"Right away young master." Tanaka walked away leaving me with Ciel. Ciel was looking down the hall and hadn't taken his eyes away from the area until Tanaka turned the corner.
"Celesta, is anyone around to hear our conversation?"
I looked at him knowing what he meant. I hadn't tried using my demonic abilities too much so I had to strain my senses a little to sense for anyone. I tried to see if there were any other unwanted ears around and after sensing everyone to be in the dining hall and the servants in the kitchen I shook my head indicating that there was no one around.
"What has Sebastian told before he was killed?"
" 'Look after the young master.' And... he trusted that I would know what to do when the time is right."
"So you have no clue what the entire plan is?" He said a little surprised.
"Nope," I smiled, "But I will admit, you are quite an impressive actor, young master."
"Celesta," Ciel looks at me with the most seriousness I have ever seen, "no matter what happens I trust that you will not fail me. Even if you know nothing of the plan I entrust my safety in you. If you fail I will have Sebastian kill you without hesitation. This will be a test of loyalty and trust, do you understand?"
"Yes, my lord."
