Old Friends Return!
A few days after Sting proposed, Nina was helping out in the hall when she grinned and stood up from her task. It was surprising that they decided to show up, after her fiancé had just finished , still trying to beat Minerva in terms of eating. She had left after he passed out on his fifth serving. "Yuki, come over here." She called as she fixed her lilac purple square neck shirred bodice flounce sleeve ruffle hem dress and readjusted the twin tails she had done so it wasn't so messy. Surprisingly, Yukino had given her some silver heels to help her a bit while it was Minerva to suggest having slightly darker tights so that it hid her underwear if she did bend too far. True to her nose, she saw familiar faces, which made her smile. "Natsu-san! Lucy-chan! Happy!" She called, getting the three to whip in her direction.
"Nina!" Lucy called. "Long time no see, I guess! Still doing alright?" She hugged the Shadow Dragon Slayer, getting one in return.
"You bet! And..." She pulled up her left hand and grinned when Lucy's eyes nearly fell out, along with Happy and Natsu's.
"Yo-You're ENGAGED?!" Lucy shouted in happiness.
"Ow... My ears..." Nina joked, pounding the one side in a teasing manner.
Orga chuckled. "We've been oddly busy now that all the old Fairy Tail jobs are comin to us."
"And it's led us to a great profit, which I've committed to memory." Rufus added.
Nina whacked them over the head slightly before sighing. "They're still arrogant assholes... Sorry."
"No worries... We're reviving Fairy Tail, you know." Lucy stated.
Those words echoed in Nina's head as she teared up. "Truly? I... I'll really enjoy that!"
"Awww, it's alright to cry, Nina." Lucy soothed, letting her cry.
"I figured it was you to make her start cryin..." Came Sting's taunt.
"Bound to happen." Lector agreed.
"Hey. It's Natsu and Lucy!" Sting said, making his way towards his fiancée.
"Who-" Lucy looked utterly lost.
"Yo, Sting!" Natsu greeted as he fist bumped him.
"Still the same, eh, Natsu?"
"You've barely changed either."
"YES HE HAS!" Lucy stated.
Shina had to laugh, having followed Lector and Sting. "Overreacting again, Lucy?"
"SHINA!" Happy cried, aiming to give her a hug or a fish, but she merely moved to the side.
"And you're still focused on fish..." Shina sighed before blinking. "Where's Carla?"
"I was about to ask about Froche." Happy said, recovering from the fail earlier.
"Froche? He's with my brother and Minerva on a mission." Nina pointed out right before Natsu grabbed her shoulders. "E-"
"Where'd they go?!" He demanded.
"Hey, what're ya doin to my mate, Natsu?!" Sting said, his size bumping Lucy slightly.
"Let go, will ya? They just left, so you can still catch up to them. Use your damn nose, will ya?" Nina said, swatting his hands off.
"Right... Thanks, Nina!" With that, he sped off.
Nina sighed as she went back to Sting's side. "What was that about?" He asked, now his normal size as Lector hopped on his shoulder while Shina was by his feet as he took her hand. "You okay?"
"Yeah. I forgot how he gets when something's on his mind..." She admitted.
"He's back to normal!?" Lucy said in shock.
"Thanks, Yuki..." Nina giggled. "She used Libra's power." True to her words, Yukino had Libra's key out with a grin.
"I'd never hear the end of it if I left him like that." She pointed out. "But, what could Natsu-san need my Knight for?"
"Huh?" Lucy looked utterly lost.
"Oh, right! You didn't know..." Nina said in realization. "Well, Yukino and my brother, Rogue, are together."
"Seriously? Wow. Hate to say it, Nina, but I almost thought she'd go for Sting." Lucy said in embarrassment.
Nina burst out laughing in unison with Yukino as Sting spoke. "Tch. I see Yuki as a sister, nothin more. Besides, I got my girl right here." To prove his point, he started tickling Nina and making her squeal in more laughter.
"Oi... Not so loud... Some are trying to- Oh, hey." Laxus came from around a corner to see Lucy there.
"Laxus?! You're here?!"
"Yeah. Couldn't leave my adoptive sister alone... Even though she has Sting and Rogue." Laxus stated as Sting finally stopped tickling said woman. "And Mira would kill me if I didn't."
"Mira!?" Lucy parroted.
Nina wiped the tears that had gathered from laughing too hard. "Yeah... Laxus and Mira are a thing... Happened not long after I joined Sabertooth. You might wanna go after Natsu-san, though... I'd like to have my brother return in one piece."
"Right! We'll catch up later!" Lucy then took off after the Fire Dragon Slayer.
Nina shook her head before thinking why Natsu would react like that before it hit her. "Ahh. I got it. Today is supposed to be that day. I should've realized it."
"Well, good thing Natsu's here." Sting said. "If anyone'll break that kind of future, it's him."
Nina nodded before frowning. "I do worry about Minerva... She was long gone when Lucy-chan recovered, so she never fully apologized..."
"Knowing her, Lucy's forgiven her." Shina stated. "It's not like her to hate too many people..."
"True... I'm surprised you woke up from your food coma so fast, love." Nina pointed out.
"Once I felt you being so happy, I had to find out why. Oi, Rogue, the hell happened?" He looked to see Rogue looked both defeated and annoyed. "I guess you found out Natsu's in the area..."
"Yeah. Dunno why..." Rogue informed.
"You okay, Froche?" Nina asked.
"Froche was surprised, but glad to see Happy again!" Froche said.
"I guess he wanted to stop that from happening... But, it's Natsu... So, he just acts." Nina shook her head. "Stupid FlameBrain..."
Laxus chuckled. "It's always a party whenever he gets it goin..."
Nina smiled before sighing. "It might be me, but I wanna go make sure Lucy's alright... I mean, I know she's a lot stronger than a year ago... But, still... She's no Natsu."
"Well, let's go check on 'em then." Sting said.
"But what about your duties?" She pointed out.
"Have ya forgotten that you come before anything?" He countered with a grin.
"That doesn't mean stop working. I know you wanna make sure Natsu's fine, too." She replied with her own.
Shina shook her head. "It's an amazing thing that you two are so connected, yet so different."
"Got that right." Lector agreed.
Yukino nodded as she smiled. "Might as well fly, right?" She suggested.
"Yuki! Why'd you agree?" Nina stated before laughing. "Let's go then..." She, Sting and Rogue left the guild being carried by Froche, Lector and Shina respectively before coming onto the scene that she found oddly comforting. "Guess we're too late..."
"I forgot how strong they were..." Rogue stated.
Nina rolled her eyes as the cheers reached her ears, making her smile brighter. "They're back... Fairy Tail's whole again."
"It's a great day." Sting agreed, hugging her from behind.
"They truly are amazing together... Don't you think so, Fro..?" Lector looked and everyone was shocked to finding the Exceed missing.
"Where'd Froche go!?" Nina asked, looking around before pointing. "Look!"
"Froche went right up to them without us!" Rogue stated before seeing Gray pick the cat up and start cuddling it. "Are they trying to steal the affection of my Froche?"
Nina bopped him. "Is everything suddenly yours, bro? Froche is clearly in good hands. It shows how lovable it is! C'mon, let's go say hi! I wanna see everyone again!" She almost dragged her brother down to the group. "If you'd mind, my brother's kinda jealous." She stated.
"N-Nina?" Gajeel stuttered.
"IronHead's stuttering. Amazing, you did something thought impossible." Natsu laughed.
"Levy-chan!" She cheered, hugging the Script Mage.
"N-Nina-chan! It's been so long! How're you?" She asked, hugging back.
"And are we suddenly invisible?" Sting joked as he joined up.
Levy released Nina. "You guys are here, too?"
"Yeah, when my girl wants to do somethin, I gotta go to make sure she doesn't disappear again." Sting again teased, poking his woman's shoulder to her elbowing him.
"I should arrest ya for that display." Gajeel recovered with a grin.
"Try it. You ain't as scary as Nina." Sting taunted.
Levy and Nina got between the two. "Cool it will ya?" They both said, getting the two to huff and look the other way.
Nina sighed and rubbed her head with her left hand in annoyance, getting Levy's attention. "Oh! You're engaged! Congratulations!" She hugged her once more. "So, Gajeel, they have every point to be that way."
"Don't care. She's under arrest for not tellin me." Gajeel chuckled.
"Don't mind him." Lily said, with a smile. "He says that all the time. Nice to see ya again, Shina."
"You too, Lily. I see you've gotten better at that form." She pointed out.
"Yeah. Been trainin since the guild disbanded. Same with Gajeel..." He explained.
"There you are!" Wendy called with a smile before staring at Nina. "N-Nina-san..."
"Wendy! You grew, didn't ya?" She said, noticing that, while it may appear minor, Wendy grew around a few centimeters since she last saw her.
"Not much. I missed you!" She hugged the other female Dragon Slayer, getting one in return.
"I did too. I heard you had an awesome year! I wish I coulda seen it. But, we've been so busy with new members, jobs and not to mention all the paperwork that somebody likes to avoid sometimes. But, I'm just glad to see you again."
"Same here. By the way, congratulations!" She beamed and Nina knew she didn't just mean the engagement, but the actual mating.
Gajeel had to smirk. "I thought somethin was off, but it's good to know I won't have to put ya in jail for ignoring it."
Natsu, surprisingly, laughed. "I'd burn 'em before that, IronHead. It just means they're gonna kick more ass if needed."
"Huh? Why?" Nina was confused.
Gray sighed. "I went undercover to find out about the book of END that Zeref has and found some info that he was in the Alvarez Empire, or so Avatar said... They were who we just dealt with."
"Do ya have to be half naked?" Lector asked.
"Gah! I forgot!" He panicked.
"Don't worry! I brought clothes!" Juvia stated, holding a bag up despite also being half-naked.
Nina merely shook her head at the display, not really concerned except for the fact poor Wendy was still not quite used to it. "Better get back before Minerva sends a search and rescue squad to find us."
"Man... I hate that." Sting rubbed his head.
"C'mon, Gray... Time to hand over Froche... Before someone sinks ya into the ground." Nina said, meaning Rogue as the Ice Make mage handed the cat over and they parted ways. "Easy, brother... You are like one big baby now... Aren't you supposed to be older than me? What's goin on where I'm the one acting older." She teased him the entire return flight back, to her man's obvious amusement.
Not long after the reunion and reestablishment of Fairy Tail, Nina stood with the rest of Sabertooth when Ichiya arrived to explain why they were feeling rather odd magic. She was amazed that this 'Spriggan 12' were stupid enough to come onto their turf. When he mentioned he gathered the other guilds to help, she knew Sting would no doubt join. After all, Fairy Tail was her home, even though she was a Sabertooth mage now. On the flying boat, she was still amazed that it was the first ever vehicle that didn't hate Dragon Slayers. She chatted with Sherria and Kagura, explaining how things have been while hearing their own growth over the year, while worrying about Freed, Bickslow and Evergreen, who had gone back to assist any way they could. Even Laxus went with to keep tabs for her.
Standing outside and taking in the smell, she smiled when she felt strong arms wrap around her waist. "Is it odd that I'm more scared for the 'Spriggan 12', or whatever they are, than I am for Ishgar?"
"Not really. I feel the same. This Alvarez Empire has no idea who they're dealin with. Ishgar has damn strong mages in it... Not to mention there are eight freaking Dragon Slayers, two God Slayers and a Devil Slayer. They should shit their pants." Sting pointed out as they saw Sherria come out and join them. "Yo."
"Couldn't sleep, Sherria?"
"Not really... I'm worried about Wendy... She's out there fighting while I'm here..." She said, looking at the horizon. "When Natsu-san came for her, I knew deep down she belonged with Fairy Tail... Even if I wanted to keep her with me... She has a family in Fairy Tail... I'll fight for her sake and prove she's the best friend I ever had."
Nina extracted herself from Sting's arms and went to the young God Slayer to first put a hand on her shoulder. "You did what any great friend would do. You let her go to where you knew she belonged. She will never, ever forget your friendship or the bond you made over the past year as well as the one made during the Grand Magic Games... Plus, she'll always consider you her 'Sky Sister'." She then hugged the young girl and felt a dam break from her, smiling gently. "It's alright to cry, too... It's not stupid, it just shows that you truly loved her, right?" She got a nod as the God Slayer bawled into her, letting out all the pressure she had apparently felt since letting Wendy rejoin Fairy Tail.
After a few moments, Sherria looked up. "Wil..Will it get better? This... empty feeling?"
It was a question she had asked often when Fairy Tail disbanded a year ago. "To be honest, Sherria-chan... No... It'll be there... But, I will say this: live for those you love and never regret anything... Look towards a greater future where you are smiling. Besides, you have not only Wendy, but you have the entire Lamia Scale family, right? I doubt they'll let their precious member feel like that."
Sherria finally smiled at those words. "Thank you, Nina-san... I'm so sorry to ever think that you were bad... I was silly to believe you were just luring Lyon in... Now, I see it was far from it!"
Nina laughed. "Of course, Lyon will always be a dear friend and ally to me, but he's okay with it... Aren't you, Lyon?"
The other Ice Make wizard came out with a chuckle. "I see your nose is still sharp... She's right, Sherria... I agree with her. She is a dear comrade and I knew I stood no chance against Sting... By the way, I offer my congratulations on the engagement."
"Thanks. See, Sherria? You got support... Just like Wendy needs..." Nina said as she gave the girl another hug before looking out to see Magnolia come into view. "Well... We're here... My old home."
"Do you miss it?" Sherria asked. "I mean, not to pry..."
Nina sighed with a tiny smile. "Of course I do... Fairy Tail was all I knew until the Games... It was my family... But, I know that they feel the same about me... Especially Laxus-yō kyōdai and Makarov-yōfu..."
Sting chuckled and stood next to her. "Damn straight they do. I still get an earful from Laxus about ya..." They were all dropped off outside of the town and made their separate ways into the place that Nina grew up in. They watched in awe when the boat, Christina, blocked a hit meant for the newly built guild hall.
"I'm won't allow it! This is war! Fiore's entire communication network-activate! Can you all hear me?! This battle involves all of us!"
Nina stood with her guild, a grin on her face and had a feeling that her other family heard Ichiya loud and clear. "Got that right. Let's get in and help our friends!"
"Right!" The Sabertooth group agreed as they charged in to help any way they could.
Nina was amazed at how little they contained the damage as she made her way to the guild hall as she entered to see Laxus was very, very tense. "Wh-What?"
"Freed, Ever and Bickslow were taken out." Laxus growled.
Nina felt rage rise up. "The hell?! By who!?"
"We... Don't know, but they were found in the rubble of the cathedral." Makarov explained before smiling. "You've truly grown... Nina."
It was a voice that made her feel like a child again with how happy she was to see him alive and well. "T-Thank you, Gramps... Nice to see ya too..."
"I feel entirely responsible for their injuries." Mavis stated, staring down. "This was supposed to be Fairy Tail's problem, not all of Ishgar. I didn't want to involve other guilds."
"Well, sorry, but too bad, First Master." Nina stated. "It involves me no matter what guild I'm in. I will always have a Fairy Tail heart and I will help Laxus get some payback for what they did to my family. Let me know right away, okay, Laxus? I wanna help you, too. Now... I gotta get back to Sabertooth... But, I'll say this beforehand: Sting proposed to me and I'll be his wife when this stuff is over. And consider these words your invitation to the wedding, okay?" She winked and left, hearing the cheers and congratulations as she rejoined back up with her guild, along with Blue Pegasus, who were eager to get some payback for Ichiya. "Sorry I'm late..."
"Nah, you're good. We knew you had a few words to say to 'em... Let's get going." Sting ordered as the group made their way north to meet a wave of enemies that were found by Warren.
Nina nodded and walked beside him, Rogue on the other side while the rest filed out. She had to grin when she felt the growth of magic from their side, knowing the infamous Emperors of Ishgar were now on the field before chuckling at how Natsu's magic was heading straight towards their enemy. "Stupid idiot..."
"Huh?" Sting asked.
"Natsu's just being Natsu and blazing ahead without listening to Master Mavis." She explained. "By the way, Warren let me know we should expect back up in the form of Mira, Lisanna, Gajeel, Levy and Lily... So... gotta deal with Gajeel-san wanting to arrest everyone. But, we'll get it. Can't have Natsu show us up... It'll be a really long bragging period for him." She stated with a smirk she got from being around Laxus most of her life.
Whoooo! I've been gathering ideas from rereading the manga for, like, the fourth time... So now I can really try to fit it into a timeline that fits! Get ready for some Sabertooth kick ass fights! Even Nina will 'go wild!'
