I changed just a little bit in this part.
Prologue - Part 2 - 17 years ago
At first, Minerva McGonagall could not believe what she saw here in the shack. In fact, nothing could have prepared her for the sight that had awaited her, after she had answered her door to the frantic knocking of Severus Snape - two former students and an infant, who was probably only a few hours old.
In all these months no one at Hogwarts had noticed that there was a pregnant student in their midst. All these months the two had hidden the pregnancy with a spell and now there was a baby.
Her first impulse had been to rush back to Hogwarts and inform Dumbledore and Poppy, but the next words stopped Minerva in her tracks.
"Please professor. We don't know who we can trust otherwise and you always said that all students could come to you, not just Gryffindors. I can't take her with me and if her family finds out about the baby-" he stopped but Minerva knew what he meant without him finishing the sentence.
These two students should never have become parents. A child of these two students should never have been born.
Minerva knew what kind of future lay ahead of the two - he had been dabbling for some time with the Dark Arts and she was promised to another man. Minerva knew that the wedding was to take place in the fall, and there would be quite a scandal if it became known that the daughter of the noble House of Black had a child out of wedlock, and from a half-blood no less.
"My daughter, our daughter, she is the greatest and only good thing in our lives. When I realized, that I was pregnant, we both knew the consequences of our actions. But we couldn't. . we wanted to have this child, even though we knew," Bellatrix broke off and looked at Severus. She hoped he would keep up the conversation and that he said the words that did not pass her lips.
"We can't raise her. We want to protect her - from her family and from a few other people. And we want her to grow up in a safe place, with someone who loves her."
Both needed to do whatever they could to protect their child and now that would become Minerva's task. Minerva had to protect the baby, at least if it was up to her two former students. In any case, it was a tremendous sign of trust from the two of them.
She still couldn't really believe what she was seeing. Severus Snape and Bellatrix Black had a child.
Minerva took a deep breath.
"Oh, children, but why did you hide here? You didn't have to go through this all by yourselves after all. Why didn't you go to the hospital wing? Or to Professor Dumbledore's at any time during the pregnancy?" asked Minerva, even though she suspected the answer already.
There was a very specific reason why the boy had gone to her and not to Professor Dumbledore tonight, why she was now standing here in the shack, holding the baby of two former students and was confronted with their desperation.
Both students remained silent.
She knew that she really ought to inform Albus about the baby.
It was because last night, actually during the graduation ceremony the previous afternoon, a magical storm had passed over Hogwarts. It was only about half an hour ago that the storm finally started to fade away. So the baby had been born during a magical storm. And Albus was still fanatically looking for the children born on such a night and who might fulfill the prophecy.
But now, in this moment, holding the tiny bundle in her arms and seeing the desperation in the young parents' eyes, she knew what she had to do. There was only one thing Minerva could do.
"I will take the little one with me. She will grow up in Scotland. I will take good care of her and raise her as my grandchild," Minerva promised.
"Oh thank you professor."
Both had never been more relieved. Their baby would grow up in safety.
"Just one more thing. What do you want to name her?"
"Catelyn. Catelyn Belladonna Eileen."
