"THE IWA SHINOBI HAVE BROKEN THROUGH THE SEALS! PREPARE FOR COMBAT!"
*Bump*
"THE KUMO SHINOBI HAVE ARRIVED TOO. THEY'RE RUSHING THROUGH KAIREN ISLAND! WE NEED ASSISTANCE, WHERE IS THE CHIEF?!"
*Bump*
"KIRI? HAVEN'T THEY SIGNED A TREATY WITH US, WHY ARE THEIR SHINOBI HERE! DAMN IT, PROTECT THE CHILDR- ARGHHHHH!"
*Bump*
"AZINO-SAMA, PLEASE TELL ME THERE'S ANOTHER WAY! PLEASE, WE NEED TO FIND ANOTHER WAY TO GET THE CHILDREN OUT!" Many women with red hair yell at the elderly man preparing his battle armor, for what will be his last fight.
"I'm sorry, but the three villages… they have us surrounded, and they're intent on killing us all, not leaving a single body and razing our village to the ground."
*Bump*
"But please chief, our home, our family, PLEASE FIGHT TO PROTECT US." The elderly man smiled, and it wasn't just a normal smile, it was a savage grin, one that spoke of the fire that he still held within.
"We Uzumakis always fight for family, and I promise on my dying will, that we will find a way to ensure our will lives on." The man looked out of the tower, the tower that stood at the center of Uzushiogakure, and hardened his glare at the troops currently trying to encircle the island.
"And I promise you, the will of the Uzumaki will always burn brighter than any star in the sky."
*Bump*
"WHERE IS HE, WHERE IS THE 'AKUMA ZEFA'!" A hulking man that wore Kumogakure's distinctive, single-strap flak jacket with no other clothing underneath stood at the entrance to the main island of Uzushio beside a short elderly man who was floating in mid air and an orange-haired man with a large-bandaged sword on his back..
"You're too impatient A, that man will come, we made a direct attack on his family. But I wonder why Kiri is here, after all they refused to break the treaty, isn't that right, Fuguki Suikazan, the Bloody Shredder." The man continued staying silent, almost as if he was ignoring the question outright before stating, "Whatever my plans are concern none of you, just know I want the Uzumaki clan dead and erased for withholding valuable information about the 7 Swords from Kiri and that the remaining 7 Ninja Swordsmen are on your side, Fence Sitter Onoki." Onoki and A both looked at the man as he spewed his words with a bloodthirsty tone before a water puddle appeared in front of them with a balding red-haired man in battle armor with a silver chokuto drawn.
"Ryōtenbin no Ōnoki, A the Sandaime Raikage, and Fuguki Suikazan, the Bloody Shredder… I'm guessing with even you all arriving, you wish to fully destroy us." Azino stood there, ready for a battle he knew he couldn't possibly win. He could've taken Suikazan down 1 on 1, but A and Onoki were a different story as he knew he'd be in for a lengthy 1 on 1 especially in his old age. To go against all three, he knew it was the Shinigami (Death God) playing tricks on him.
"The Third Shinobi World War is upon us, Azino…" Azino gripped his Chokuto tighter as he heard Onoki use his full name, the man he had many battles with, finally ending their lengthy feud in what may be his last chance to save his family.
"So you wish to destroy us, to get rid of every Uzumaki so we can't help Konoha in the war, is that right?" Azino didn't need to see Onoki raising his hands to know what was coming next as a cone of chakra from Onoki's Dust Release appeared while A powered up his Raiton no Yoroi (Lightning Release: Lightning Armor) and Suikazan unwrapped the sword from his back to show it off, its writhing scales and sentient-like mouth flailing before Azino prepared himself, and flared his chakra. The flare then lit up seals leading all around Uzushio as the island itself glowed, before explosions could be heard as the battle began while the four kage level opponents stood off from each other, with the seals glowing around all the destroyed building, rubble laying through as bodies piled up before Azino made the first move, and pointed his sword to the sky to say his last words.
"I PROMISE TO ALL WHO CAN HEAR ME!" The resounding echo heard all throughout the area as shinobi stopped fighting, even for just a second as the Uzumaki heard the voice of their leader, the one who would lead them into death.
"I PROMISE, I SWEAR AN OATH TO YOU ALL, THAT WE WILL NOT DIE HERE! OUR BODIES MAY GO NUMB, OUR MINDS MAY GO BLANK, OUR EYES WILL RUN BLIND, OUR HEARTS WILL BECOME SORE, OUR BLOOD WILL RUN COLD AS OUR PHYSICAL IMPRESSIONS LEAVE THIS WORLD FOR THE DEPARTED, BUT OUR DRIVE WILL LIVE ON! WE WILL FIGHT UNTIL WE CAN'T FIGHT, WE WILL MOVE UNTIL WE CAN'T STAND, WE WILL NOT GIVE UP, WE SHALL SHOW WHAT IT IS TO BE A TRUE SHINOBI, WHAT IT MEANS TO DIE A PHYSICAL DEATH, BUT LEAVE A PERMANENT SCAR ON THE MINDS OF THE REST OF THE WORLD THAT IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO TRULY DIE. MEN, WOMEN, FIGHT! FIGHT FOR THE LIGHT OF UZUSHIO!"
The speech, heard to all, brought new life into the Uzumaki fighting, new breath as they fought with their bare hands, any weapons they could scavenge, and an all out battle began as the kages scoffed.
"How gutless, a man sending his family to their deaths. What incompetence for a great shinobi like you." Fuguki sneered at the man who then gave a chilling stare, but what was chilling about it wasn't his eyes, it was the smile, the savage grin that made even Onoki flinch as the man flared his chakra to new heights. It was the grin of a man who knew he would die and wanted to end things on his terms.
"I have not sent them to their deaths, young one. You don't understand and you never will, but my family, my clan, we were born and raised on the concept of victory, and even in death, we will gain victory from this battle. Even if you kill us, even if you crucify our bodies and show them to the world, we will gain immortality in your memories, haunting you until the draw you draw your last breath. A shinobi may hide in the shadows, but sometimes, it is good to die as a warrior, rather than as a shinobi. You may boast that you killed me, but in the end, all you would have destroyed is my physical body, and you will never understand…" He raised his right hand as each person tensed themselves, "What it's like to have something to truly die for and fight for it until the very end for the future. FUIN!"
*Bump*
Explosions were heard above as three people walked in a deep underground passage that seemed to shake every 5 seconds as the battle grew worse and worse . A red-haired man that seemed to be in his mid 30s with a black vest, slick gray pants and black shinobi boots with gray chains prepared as well as a woman with red-hair, anbu style vest and white sheath on her back that seemed to lead a young boy, about 6 years old with round glasses, red-hair, crimson eyes and tightened fists as he was led to a vault door before the man scratched his finger with one of the sharp edges of his chains and slowly opened the vault.
"Rizuma…" The boy looked up, quiet but still staring directly at the two that led him down here.
"I guess, this is goodbye, right Vizane-oba?" The boy knew what was coming next, as while the rest of the Uzumaki children tried to escape on boats, they were all capsized by the water jutsu from the Kiri ninja as none of the children were found. But these two, they knew better than to leave their nephew on the boats and he himself didn't want to leave Uzushio, so they took him away.
"Rizuma, you are the most mature child I know. Don't cry, not now…" "I wasn't going to cry Vizane-oba, Tsurosen-oji." His uncle cracked one eye open at the boy, considered the most prodigious boy of Uzu before its current fall. The boy had already begun his studies on seals, had already started his water element training, and had already proved that his parent's deaths weren't in vain a year earlier when he closed himself off for a few weeks and came back even more determined.
"I can't grieve now, oba-chan, oji-san, because if I do now, it's only going to make you think, and you can't think, now do it. I'll grieve for you, all of you, WHEN I'M AWAKE AGAIN!" Tsurosen looked at his nephew, who was smiling up at them with a proud face as both he and Vizane both grinned back with tears. "You undoubtedly have the Uzumaki spirit kid, if only you were in your prime now, you would definitely be a clan leader. Either you or Kushina if she had stayed." Rizuma looked up at the two people that looked after him after his mom and dad died in a skirmish against the Hidden Mist and pointed a fist at them, both of them responding with their own fists as they all stood there for a couple seconds that seemed to convey just how much they cared for each other before they each looked forward at the seal in front of them, one Rizuma couldn't understand yet as he looked forward in interest and sensed the amount of chakra being poured into the seal before being stopped by his uncle.
"I only told you the basics about this seal Rizuma, but just know it's a space/time seal that will lock you in a coma-like state that will continuously feed you chakra to keep your body going, but in a perpetual state of sleep as to you, it will feel like a long rest, but you will not have aged a day, mentally and physically until the chakra from this battle runs out. Chief Azino did this for you, Rizuma, he activated a seal that siphoned the chakra from the battlefield and poured it into the seal for you specifically, a last resort for one person. This vault has everything we had to offer, all of our knowledge, food that are stuck in perpetual stasis and storage seals, shinobi tools, books that you can study from, scrolls on water jutsu, and other elemental affinities, and notes on every Uzumaki sealing level, from 1 all the way to 13. You will survive here for the first couple of years, just try to rebuild the place after you wake up again." Tsurosen laughed as though his impending death was nothing meaningful while Vizane slapped him across the head, but also with a smile as Rizuma stepped closer and closer to the seal before looking back at his uncle and aunt.
"May we meet in the next life, and I want you to know I loved you both like you were my parents. I swear, I'll bring it all back, THE LIGHT OF THE UZUMAKI!" Tsurosen turned around and let a tear fall while Vizane openly shed tears as Rizuma touched the seal before looking back one more time, winking and letting one tear nearly leave his eyes before fully touching the seal, getting sucked in as Vizane and Tsurosen left the vault and closed it, never to be found by the enemy forces and never to be seen by the outside world again.
In the seal, he slept, the tear that he sheds now halfway down on his face as when he would awaken, Rizuma Uzumaki was always going to move forward knowing that the tear he shed would be a reminder that his last memory of his aunt and uncle before they died would be one that would stick with him forever and one that would always make him smile.
*Bump*
Darkness, all he could see was darkness as his eyes shot open, shutting down the minimal hope that everything was okay as he knew that was not the case. He felt the hardened ground he laid upon, the feeling of his body slowly coming back to him as something wet glided down the rest of his face, the lone tear he shed for his family before going in the seal as he let out a sigh.
"So, it's done, huh?" The childlike voice spoke up before performing a kip up and landing on his feet before nearly falling over because of his legs still not waking up.
"Dang it, my body still isn't working!" The boy shouted out before feeling something smooth beside him before trying to put it on in this darkness, feeling his unbroken studying glasses and then trying to stand up again, seeing that his legs could now feel the cold floor. He stood up, before performing the Hare Seal and then saying, "Katon: Tanebi no Jutsu*" His hand began to spark as cinders of a flame came out of his hands, lighting up the room a bit and seeing the walls of the vault as well as the many doors that led to all the Uzumaki's prized possessions. He saw a seal from the dim cinders and noticed it was a basic light seal the Uzumaki created in coalition with Konoha. He walked over to it, trying to avoid the many things he could barely see on the floor before he poured his chakra into the seal before the vault lit up, his seal corresponding with the rest of the light seals. He covered his eyes from the sudden burst of light as he could feel the fire chakra bursting from the seals and also felt warm heat and ventilation as the light seals also corresponded with the ventilation system, as the underground vault couldn't normally take in oxygen.
"Wow…" He lost his train of thought as he saw the seals, each one drawing his attention as he began to gain a huge smile. Even as a 6-year-old, he loved seals, even more so than the other children who tried to focus on other things. He was a huge nerd for everything they taught him, it was in his blood. He then looked at the door that led out of the vault and grew a sad smile. It was time he paid his respect to his family before he did any exploring of the vault, as well as look at the state of Uzushio and the surrounding islands they incorporated in their design.
"I'm coming everyone, you guys will get a sendoff worthy of being an Uzumaki, or my name isn't Rizuma Uzumaki, the last of Uzushio."
Rizuma slowly walked to the vault door, remembering the conversation he had with his aunt and uncle that seemed so recent in his mind, but he knew differently. He tried to reach for the vault handle before jumping high and kicking the handle hard with an axe kick, spinning it open and seeing the dark cave he went through before. He once again sparked his hand with cinders before slowly walking through the cave, only looking forward towards the small crevice that was blocked off now by a wall of stone that had sunlight shining through some of the eroded cracks. Rizuma put the cinders out before doing more hand signs. "Rat, Tiger, Dog, Ox, Rabbit, Tiger, Katon: Housenka no Jutsu*!" The boy spewed out multiple blasts of fire that crashed and destroyed the rocks that held back the daylight before Rizuma gripped his fists tightly and stepped out, the sun's light reflecting off his lightly tanned skin, his crimson hair and eyes glistening as if caught in a blaze while he looked over what was now Uzushio as his face sank. Buildings were now rubble, eroded stone now covering the many paths that still hung on as he saw the Uzumaki Tower, still standing tall even with the amount of damage done to the surrounding areas, as if it were waiting for him to come back to his senses to welcome him back to the world and to his home. He looked around, seeing no bodies, no sign of life besides the many sea animals now around as seagulls flew over him while waves crashed against the main island. Rizuma looked towards the many islands around to see if any human life was there.
"Nothing on Kairen, nothing on Kachiku, nothing on Warsho, and nothing on Kosuto." He sighed as some tears began to leak out again. Even if people prided him on being the most mature child, he was still a 6-year-old, and the situation of his whole family leaving this world was finally getting to him as tears dropped to the ground. His family was gone, killed while he slept. He already had dealt with his parents leaving this world, now his entire family died. He wanted revenge, he wanted to have the heads of the people who killed his family on a silver platter. It felt the same as last time, when he wanted to go kill the people who killed his parents and snapped.
"LET ME GO!" Rizuma screamed with his eyes full of tears, his first true meltdown happening as his aunt held him down. "Rizuma, you can't go th-" "WHY CAN'T I?! THEY KILLED THEM, WHY DID TOU-SAN AND KAA-CHAN HAVE TO DIE? WHY AREN'T YOU AS SAD AS ME, WHY AREN'T YOU GRIEVING?! YOU DON'T CARE, DO YOU?!" Vizane looked down sadly at the boy, a 5-year-old should always have his parents by his side, and he was killed. But to basically accuse her of not caring was true disrespect before a smack was heard as Rizuma was sent to the side and fell by Tsurosen, who glared at the young child who glared back.
"NEVER ACCUSE HER OF THAT AGAIN RIZUMA!" Rizuma widened his eyes and grit his teeth before looking down as more tears leaked out. "We understand, that was my damn sister kid." He looked up at his uncle staring at him before he felt his hair being ruffled as Vizane cupped his cheek and wiped his tears away. "And Vizane was your dad's sister, too. We lost our siblings, but that doesn't mean we aren't grieving, kid." Tsurosen grabbed his own fists and tried to contain his own anger and sadness. "And by Kami, we want to go get those people who killed them and hang them from trees to show them not to mess with our family again. But revenge isn't the way forward, Rizuma." Tsurosen tried to calm himself down before an elderly voice was heard from the window.
"He's right, you know." All three people in the house looked at the window and saw their chief Azino quietly staring at them with sympathy as Tsurosen and Vizane did a short bow while Rizuma just stared at the man, who stared back at him. "You know what our former leader Ashina Uzumaki, rival of Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, once said to me when I once faced this exact situation ages ago?" Rizuma gripped his fists even more tightly as his aunt and uncle both grabbed his shoulder and squeezed softly while he cried as Azino looked at the boy who was about to make a major shift.
"He stated to me, "Revenge is something that will swallow you whole if you go down that path. You will push everyone away in your quest for vengeance, and in the end when you have finally gotten your vengeance, you will have realized there is nothing else waiting for you in this world as there is nobody left for you to care about. Weak-minded people see revenge as their own form of clarity, but in this accursed world, it just continues to bring another cycle of hatred where the person you killed will have comrades, and those comrades will want to kill you too. Revenge is something for the weak of mind, someone who will always be alone, and once you look past the burning desire still lingering in your mind, you can finally begin to find true clarity in this world." Rizuma looked at the chief as he recited the speech of the former head of the clan and looked down at his own feet before he felt the hug of the elderly man, feeling his shirt soak up some tears as he began to cry even more. "Young Rizuma, I know you will make the right decision. I know you'll come out of this moment with pride, knowing that your mother and father loved you until the last second, and you'll come out of this even better than I did all those years ago. Don't let your parents' efforts in raising you so far go to waste, and while they are looking down on you from above, show them what it means to carry on their legacy and don't throw it away for revenge. You can think about it, but never take on those desires, as that will be your true descent into madness."
"I don't know if I can do it this time, chief." The light sobs turned heavy as he fell to his knees, tears flowing to the ground. "Hic… I just can't forget… But I can't do anything to them… hic… I don't want to kill them, but I do at the same time… WHY DID ALL OF THEM MY AGE HAVE TO DIE! WHY?! WHAT DID THEY DO?"
"Whatever someone does, you don't push those things onto their children if they have died. Children are young, and they have done nothing to warrant hatred simply because of their parents' infamy." Rizuma remembered what Azino said multiple times to the people that lived on Uzushio before he looked up, the tears still in his eyes as he saw an earth wall that he didn't remember and ran towards it, seeing an opening and looking into what was inside the walls and started to choke on his sobs.
"They… built graves…for them?" Rizuma ran to the largest graves, the ones that appeared in the middle and seemed to shine the most in the sunlight, and read the names.
"Tsurosen Uzumaki, of the Kongo Fusa*, Tenshi no Nikuya* Vizane Uzumaki, Akuma Zefa, Azino Uzumaki…" Rizuma saw the graves, graves that the enemy had built and left untouched out of respect. He stood in front of the tombstones and bit into his thumb, letting a little blood flow down his hand and fall onto the ground before he took a knee, seeing the ground soak up the blood he let flow and said a prayer. "I'm finally back, Vizane-oba, Tsurosen-oji, Azino-sama, kaa-chan, tou-san, and I promise you, I will grow…" Rizuma stood up, still letting tears flow as he looked up to the sky, where he knew his family was watching him from now on and yelled with his arms out. "AND YOU WILL BE EVEN MORE PROUD OF ME THAN BEFORE. I WILL START OUR FAMILY AGAIN, AND BUILD THIS PLACE UP FROM THE DIRT IF I HAVE TO. I WON'T LET ANYONE DISRESPECT OUR LEGACY, THE UZUMAKI LIVE INSIDE ME AND I REFSUE TO LET YOU ALL TRULY DIE!" The scream echoed through the island, animals turning to where the voice boomed from and the waves crashing even harder than before, acknowledging the promise that he had declared to keep. With that declaration, Rizuma did one more silent prayer and left the gravesite, the sun marking his way to his next destination, the clan tower.
He walked slowly, taking everything in as he saw places that from his point of view were all standing a couple days ago completely brought to the ground before stopping and looking up at the Uzumaki tower, how it seemed to be on its last legs but still keeping itself up before he slowly walked in, closing his eyes as the skeletons that he saw marked the entrance. Thousands of bones of the former enemy as he saw Kiri headbands, Iwa headbands, Kumo headbands, even Konoha and Suna headbands with lines over them, signifying some as missing-nin before seeing other smaller villages' headbands with lines over them, like Shimogakure, Takigakure, Moyagakure, even Yugakure and Yumegakure. "Rogue shinobi as well as three of the five great nations, they really wanted us dead, and they got their wish, at least mostly." Rizuma said with a sad tone before maneuvering around the many bones and checking to see what remained inside, trying to not vomit at the sight of the bodies and the rotting flesh before reaching the main office and seeing what he wanted to see, the sword compartment that Azino had always kept sealed hadn't been touched as he put his hand on a seal to check his DNA and the wall opened next to him to reveal many swords the Uzumaki had collected and stored within the Uzumaki tower.
"We Uzumaki, we are infatuated by the prospect of the sword, we wield our swords like it is an extension of ourselves, so when we see someone misusing a sword, we take the sword for ourselves and we use them to give to the next generation. Remember this Rizuma, you one day will choose a sword from that collection. Some Uzumaki don't need a sword, but you Rizuma, I feel you can be someone to fully master a great sword, something only our former chief Ashina, our chief Azino, and Kushina have done. I can see it in you." Rizuma remembered Vizane's words to him about the Uzumaki and swords before seeing how dirty the room was before deciding he was going to do something about it and used some more hand signs. "Monkey, Ram, Dragon, Dog, Boar, Suiton: Mizu Kagami no Jutsu*." Water from the building rose through the floorboards and walls and created water mirror all around the room, clearing off the dust and allowing Rizuma to see more clearly before using his Tanebi no Jutsu to create sparks once again to look through the room while using the water mirror to reflect any hidden swords as he walked through the dark room, seeing the many types of nagintas, chokutos, wakizashis and katanas the Uzumaki had collected over the years before catching a glimpse of a shine in the bottom water mirror and looking up, seeing a red sheath with a black and red edge slightly sticking out and jumping up to grab it before slowly pulling the sword out, revealing it to be a black chokuto with a red edge, almost similar to his hair color and eye color as he felt enamored by the sword before he held it with his right hand, deeming it perfect as it felt just right in his hands and smiling.
"This is my sword now, thanks Gramps Azino for hiding this. I'm going to call you, Jinami." Rizuma took the newly named sword and placed it on his back, nearly falling over as his 6-year-old body tried to go accustomed to the new weight on his back as he set himself straight and started jumping around, getting the feel of the new sheath and sword on his back before he looked out the window and saw that the sun was setting on Uzushio, his first day back and the first lonely night of many was settling in as Rizuma channeled his chakra into his feet and slowly climbed up the tower outside to the roof, standing on the highest point of Uzushio and into the sun, seeing the surrounding islands and once again being reminded that he was alone, that his family was dead and he didn't even know just how much time had gone past since.
"It doesn't matter, just cause they're not breathing doesn't mean they died…" Rizuma looked back at the gravesite before pulling Jinami out, setting it before him as the sword shined in the light, creating a reflection of sunlight that pointed to each of the four main islands that he still needed to visit in Uzushio. "They still live on in my heart, oba-chan, oji-san, kaa-chan, tou-san, they all left me with their hopes and dreams, to see me live, to see me continue on in my life." He looked back towards the sun, his crimson hair burning even brighter as his crimson eyes shined in the light, his glasses nearly glowing. "I'm gonna grow up, and I'm gonna rebuild this place. I'm gonna find people, and I'm gonna give them a home, I'm gonna make sure this place is up again, this place is a haven again. I am an Uzumaki, and I'll be stronger, I'll surpass Kushina, I'll surpass Azino, I'll surpass Ashina, I'll be the strongest full-blooded Uzumaki there ever was. You all had faith in me, and now…" Rizuma pointed Jinami as high as he could, tears flowing down his eyes with a proud smile. "I'll show you, you put your faith in the right person. I'll show you what it really means to be an Uzumaki. So just wait everyone, because Rizuma Uzumaki just woke up, and I plan on bringing everything back, no matter how hard it is, because I'm an Uzumaki, and an Uzumaki will NEVER quit. I don't care if it's Iwa, Kumo, Kiri, Suna, or even people in Konoha, I will go far, and the world will realize just how strong the Uzumaki are again, JUST YOU WAIT!"

This chapter is the prologue, and it shows what roughly happened to the Uzumaki and what happened to Rizuma, who is the main character in this story and the OC I created. He has crimson Uzumaki hair along with Crimson eyes, some glasses similar to Kabuto's but he doesn't need them and how he dealt with his family dying while he was kept safely in the vault. He can't forgive the nations who attacked, something like that can never be forgiven, especially since it was simply because they felt threatened by an alliance of Uzushio and Konoha in a war. Rizuma can't forgive, and he won't forget, but he knows going down a path of revenge is the wrong way since he is better than that, plus he was taught better by his elders, he may be 6 but he was described as the most mature child there, and even he knows that in the future he might not be able to control his emotions enough to stop him from doing something rash. He has shown 2 chakra affinities to fire and water and the ability to control his chakra enough to know some seals and climb up walls similar to trees.
Next chapter will be a time-skip of 3 years, so Rizuma will be 9, as well as Rizuma finding out just how much time went past while he was in stasis and what has gone down in the world ever since and what he has done in Uzushio ever since he woke up. Please rate this prologue and give constructive criticism, thank you so much!
