Chapter 1: Saving Sleeping Beauty
Noah Puckerman sat by Liza Marie Anderson's bedside as she lay in a coma for over two months. Her second father, Kurt, was dead because he was a victim of spousal abuse, and her father, Blaine, had kept everyone else from seeing her. But Noah was the only one who didn't back down that wasn't related to her. Her dad's parents, Burt and Carole, were trying to gain custody of her, and Noah was helping them.
Her father, Blaine, wasn't always abusive. The abuse started when he took pain pills after a fall during an audition for a play on Broadway. Noah was the only one who could see Kurt going downhill before Kurt did, and he tried to warn him so many times. Now, Kurt was dead, and Liza Marie was in a coma.
As Burt and Carole walk into the room, Noah tells Liza Marie, "You will never return to Bad Papa, My Little Princess. Your Aunt Beth was my daughter, but you are my heart. I lost your Aunt Quinn and your Aunt Beth because of your Bad Papa! I told your grandparents I was going to help them get custody of you, but the truth is, I want you to live with me. Your Grandpa did an awesome job as a single father before your dad helped him find your Nana Carole. I'll be worse in a good way, though. Ha, your boyfriends will think Rambo is your dad."
After Noah says this, he hears Burt chuckle and say, "I knew you wanted her as your daughter, Puck. And I hope I'm still around when she starts dating."
Then Carole said, "If I'm here by then, you two will be dealing with Mama Bear."
The two men glared at her as Carole said, "I'm so glad Kurt didn't try to get Norah together with Burt."
Noah laughed before saying, "Good thing I wasn't his type."
Noah watched Liza Marie every day and night after this, which pissed off Blaine. A month later, Noah got custody of his daughter. Two weeks later, Liza Marie woke up, and Noah took her home with him. She was happier than she had ever been before. But Blaine still wouldn't let go of the fact that Liza Marie was biologically his and not Noah's daughter.
This, of course, pissed off Noah and Liza Marie because Blaine was trying to ruin her life. They couldn't understand why Blaine couldn't just be a better man and let her go, and Noah didn't understand why or how Blaine had become so crazy. Noah soon looked through Kurt's diaries, which he kept during his relationship with Blaine. He understood everything he needed to know about Blaine. He soon read the diary that Kurt wrote in while he was at Dalton. The first entry was an eye-opener, as Noah read:
Dear Diary,
I thought being around people like me would be a good thing, but I'm starting to feel like I'm in some sort of cult. I met Blaine when Puck had me spy on the Warblers, but he's starting to creep me out.
He seemed to know about my coming here before I could even tell him, and he hasn't given me any space since I started attending Dalton. I miss Mercedes and feel safer around Puck.
I barely know Blaine right now and should probably give this some time. But I want to go back to McKinley. Even though I was tossed in the dumpster every day and couldn't breathe or stand out!
God, I hope Puck never reads this. But I was in love with him when he asked me to come here. I'm just glad I got over that crush quickly.
Well, I've got to help Carole fix supper.
Kurt
Noah read each diary, and in nearly every entry, Kurt mentioned feeling safer around him. By the time he got to the diary Kurt had kept throughout Rachel's pregnancy, Burt and Carole were standing behind him, along with Mercedes and Rachel.
They knew Noah was talking to Blaine as he said, "That's it! You are never getting her back! You psychotic son of a bitch! How could you rape Kurt and make Mr. H. think you were a great guy? He tried to leave you many times, and you made him think he couldn't do any better! You killed Quinn because she tried to help him leave! You killed my girl, and I will never let you see yours again!"
Soon, he stormed out, still not seeing the others, and got into his truck, driving off to Blaine's. Burt soon followed, then Mercedes, Sam, and Jake. When Burt pulled up to Blaine's, he saw Noah still sitting in his truck, just staring at the house. As Sam pulled up, followed by Mercedes and Jake, Noah started his truck and went to the cemetery. They all followed him to a grave with an angel statue on it and read the name on the headstone.
"My mother beat Sarah to death while I was away. I didn't find out until after I met Jake." Noah says as he looks at the grave.
He turned to Burt and said, "I had so many chances to get her out of that hell, and now she is dead! I wasn't going to let Liza Marie end up like this! I hate that Kurt had to go through the hell he did! Liza Marie was Kurt's world, just as Beth was mine! I lost my chance to be Beth's dad, and I won't mess this up with Liza Marie. She needs to know there are good dads out there!"
Noah then placed his hand on Burt's shoulder and said, "We all know someone who is a great father."
Looking at Sarah's grave, Burt added, "If I had trusted you more when I first started dating Carole, maybe I could have helped her get out of that hell."
Noah said, "You do now, so did Kurt, or I wouldn't be Liza Marie's godfather. Now, let's go home and get ready to take down Blaine legally."
When they returned to Noah's house, Liza Marie was outside yelling at Blaine, saying, "Daddy Hulk is my Daddy, not you! You stopped being my dad when you started hitting me! You killed Auntie Queenie because she knew you had been hurting Daddy Kurt since I was a baby! You hurt him so many times that Auntie Queenie had to lie about why she couldn't come to the wedding! So she didn't have to watch him marry a monster!" Liza Marie would have said more, but she started to cry before Blaine left, seeing Burt and Noah cracking their knuckles.
One day, Noah asked Blaine to meet him at the cemetery, and he was surprised when he showed up. Noah stood in front of his sister's grave as he said, "I could be mad at you forever for killing Quinn. But that won't help anyone, and it certainly won't help Liza Marie. You are her father, not me, and you chose to ruin her life through your actions."
He points to the grave and says, "This is my sister. She spent her whole life in an abusive home. Her whole life! Blaine, I gave up Beth because I feared I would be like my parents. Kurt didn't deserve what happened to him, and I felt like I was trapped! I didn't save my sister or Kurt from getting killed, and I won't let you ruin Liza Marie's life!"
Blaine crossed his arms and said, "Why do you even care what happens to my daughter, Puck? You gave up on yours. You have the nerve to tell me how to treat mine!"
Noah grabbed Blaine by the throat as Burt and Carole walked up to Finn and Kurt's graves. Before they could say anything, Noah said, "Because I love her just as much as I love Beth, and she needs me! Blaine, you won't see her again, and I will do whatever it takes to give her the life she deserves!" He then punched Blaine in the stomach before Cooper came up and took Blaine home.
As soon as they leave, Noah screams a guttural roar and says, "That arrogant son of a bitch! He takes the two most important people in my life, and I tried to give him a chance to see things from my perspective! God, he is just like my dad! He hasn't come to see Liza Marie since the day he came to our house! How can he throw her away and not want to be the father she needs?!"
He looked at Burt and said, "Mr. H., I know you aren't my dad, but I think of you as one, and I'm sure you forgave me a long time ago for bullying Kurt. I just wanted you to know that you helped me become the man I am today. Ha, that's one of the reasons I want to raise Liza Marie by myself. Ha, Mr. H., I have an arsenal of weapons in a gun closet at home that will make you thankful that Kurt chose me as Liza Marie's godfather."
Burt chuckled before saying, "Puck, I have a feeling Kurt knew you would be like I was before I started dating Carole. God, I know Liza Marie is Blaine's daughter, but I will bet money she'll try to get you to date her crush's single mom. I read his diaries too, Puck. I know about the crush he had on Finn. Did you read the pink diary?"
Noah laughed and said, "Yes, I did, and that was Elizabeth's diary, not Kurt's. You were the arrogant ass she couldn't stand, and she hated the fact she was falling for you. After you started to become friends and get to know each other better, she knew you were the guy for her. By the way, Kurt only wrote on the last page, saying, 'Oh my God, Puck is like Dad! I'm so glad he is straight. The girls in school would have killed me if he had been gay. So, glad I read this before I chose a godfather for Liza Marie.' God, I bet he felt safe around me because I reminded him of you. Ha, God, I knew it! He did have a crush on me at one point! Ha, he couldn't even admit that to himself!"
Burt says lightly, "I wonder if Quinn knows that Kurt loved all her boyfriends? Ha, both Kurt and Blaine loved Sam."
Noah said, "God, what a day! I don't know if I can handle any more surprises today. Well, at least I know Beth isn't jealous of the fact that I'm raising Liza Marie. She and Santana think Liza Marie is my second chance to be a father. They believe I will make her life the best life ever. And I plan on doing just that." Noah soon headed back to his truck and drove home.
When he gets home, he sees Santana on her phone, yelling at someone, saying, "You made your bed, and now you've got to lie in it alone! You did all this to yourself, and I'm siding with Puck here! I am not helping you get Liza Marie back by lying for you!"
He then takes her phone and says, "She is my daughter now, and I will make your life a living hell, Blaine. I grew up idolizing someone just like you. Then I met Mr. H. and became the man your daughter loves. Why don't you do her a favor and never try to contact her or anyone else again?" He ends the call before handing Santana her phone back.
He soon went to the backyard, where his punching bag was. To his surprise, he saw Liza Marie using it while wearing boxing gloves. She said, "I'm better than you! Just like Daddy Hulk is better than Bad Grandpa! I hate you and wish you were dead!" Noah continued watching her, seeing the tears rolling down her cheeks. As soon as she stopped, he picked her up and held her tightly. He whispered, "Daddy's here," and started rubbing her back. They then walked into the house, and Noah sang a soft version of 'Sweet Child Of Mine' as he laid her down for a nap.
Chapter 2 will be up soon.
