Disclaimer: Kirby belongs to Nintendo and HAL Laboratory.
It had only been two months since Fecto Elfilis and Vesa moved into Dreamland. As far as the ultimate life-form knew, their mental powers had been improving in recovery to its optimal state; something they had yet to get used to.
That morning, Vesa met up with Kirby and Elfilin in the tower courtyard.
"So, you two are running errands today?" Vesa asked them.
"Yeah," Elfilin nodded sheepishly, "we don't know exactly when we'll be back."
Vesa shuffled her feet, gently grasping the small chinchilla's paw.
"You two stay safe, ok?" Vesa advised.
"We will!" Elfilin chirped.
"Poyo!"
Vesa waved her hand as Kirby and Elfilin raced down the dirt path, disappearing into the horizon. Sighing softly, she turned around and made her way back into the tower. She met up with Elfilis and Fransisca at the training arena.
"Morning, Fran!" Vesa waved her hand, "morning, Elfilis!"
Elfilis and Fransisca paused in their banter and focused their gaze on Vesa.
"Good morning. I assume Kirby and Elfilin left?" Elfilis raised their brow.
"Yes," Vesa nodded.
"Are you ready for today's lesson?" Fransisca waved back.
Vesa nodded.
"Well," Elfilis instructed, "I suppose I should start with the simpler part which is putting an element into your spell. It's the scaling up of that elemental spell which is trickier, so let's start with the basics."
Fransisca moved to the sidelines. Upon cue, Vesa concentrated until she created a barrier a minute later.
"Now it gets a little more complicated," Elfilis continued, "do you remember how you materialized water into your temporary enchantment spells?"
"I do," Vesa answered.
"It's a similar process to this," Elfilis added, "but due to the fact it's ice and not water, it's going to be a little more challenging."
Elfilis and Fransisca shared glances for a brief moment.
"My sister here will guide you the first time," Elfilis finished.
Fransisca stood from the bench and approached Vesa. The ice mage placed her hands on the barrier. The human felt a gentle tug on her mana flowing in her body. Vesa took a deep breath and concentrated again, materializing water in her palms. As the human coated the barrier in water, Fransisca concentrated her hands. The water grew colder until it solidified into a thin layer of ice.
"Thanks!" Vesa smiled.
"No problem," Fransisca replied.
As they continued on, it wasn't long before the barrier solidified even further, strong enough to stop a spell from trying to breach it. Having completed the spell, Elfilis, Vesa and Fransisca examined her progress.
"It looks pretty good," Elfilis said, "it'll take some time to get to that level on your own, but you have an idea of what to do now, right?"
"I do," Vesa nodded.
"Good," Elfilis returned their nod, "then let's drop this barrier and have you try it on your own this time."
"Ok," Vesa replied.
Fransisca took a step back as Vesa dissipated her current barrier. The human concentrated her mana again to create a new barrier. Holding out her hands, she closed her eyes as she summoned water wisps. Elfilis watched carefully as their girlfriend coated her magical barrier in water. From there, she focused her mana into dropping the temperature of the water. As she was doing this on her own, this process took much longer. Tiny ice shards would form in the water every few minutes. Vesa took care to avoid overexertion as the water solidified into a thin fragile layer of ice within fifteen minutes. While Vesa opened her eyes, Fransisca and Elfilis approached her to examine the augmented barrier.
"Well," Fransisca commented, "it should be durable enough to withstand a basic offensive fire spell, though it would melt afterwards."
"I concur," Elfilis agreed, "although it would be a basic fire spell, it certainly wouldn't stand up to anything Flamberge could do, even if she was trying to hold back."
"Thanks," Vesa smiled at them, "I appreciate the feedback."
"Anytime," Elfilis blinked slowly, "it's best to know the limits of your abilities currently, as it's a good idea to know what you're capable of."
Vesa dissipated her barrier.
"Now are you ready for your next part of the lesson?" Fransisca asked.
"Sure," Vesa nodded.
"All right," Elfilis replied, "next, we'll work on the temporary ice enchantment. Soon, we'll move onto more permanent enchantments. Since you already have a slight grasp on ice magic and how the enchantment process works, I expect this will be fairly simple, if not slightly tiring."
"Got it," Vesa nodded.
Elfilis summoned their spear. Their girlfriend took this as a cue to concentrate. Within a few minutes, Vesa created wisps of water which danced in her palms. She focused on dropping the temperature of the water blob while the ultimate life-form angled their spear, allowing her closer access to its tip. Again, Vesa took caution to not overexert her mana reserves as ice shards slowly began forming.
Within half an hour, the water in her hands completely solidified into ice shards. Vesa pushed the bundle of ice shards onto the spear tip. When the spear absorbed the ice shards, the blade became coated in icy barbs.
"Oh, wow," Fransisca blurted.
"Yes, it is a good try," Elfilis added, "but the barbs render the weapon impractical."
Vesa stiffened and lowered her head.
"And," she stammered, "how do I fix that?"
"You'll need to remelt the ice and try again," Fransisca suggested, "eventually, you'll be skilled enough to move the ice as if it's still water, but you're not quite there yet."
"O-Ok," Vesa nodded.
Vesa held out her hand and focused on adding temperature to the icy barbs. Within several minutes, the ice melted, but she kept a firm hold on the water. With a wave of her hand, she smoothed out what used to be barbs. Once she finished, Vesa concentrated on removing the temperature until the water solidified into ice again.
"Nice job," Fransisca nodded.
"Indeed," Elfilis agreed.
Vesa let out a sigh of relief as she perched her hands on her knees.
"Thanks," she took a deep breath.
Elfilis smiled and placed their hand on her shoulder.
"This seems like a good time for a break," Elfilis mentioned, "what would you like to do?"
After a few minutes, Vesa stood upright and tilted her head, locking eyes onto the giant beanstalk.
"Perhaps we can have a closer look at the beanstalk?" she requested.
"We can do that," Elfilis nodded.
Fransisca blinked twice.
"Wait, the Dreamstalk?" Fransisca clarified.
Vesa and Elfilis paused and focused their eyes on the ice mage.
"That's how I've heard it referred to as before," Elfilis replied, "I only plan to acquire samples and show my girlfriend. To my knowledge, there's a bit of danger involved with it."
"Ok then," Fransisca advised, "do keep her safe, will you?"
Fransisca and Vesa shook hands.
"My sisters and I have errands to run as well," the ice made added.
"Have a good day," Vesa smiled.
Once they parted ways with Fransisca, Vesa and Elfilis left the tower and began traversing the dirt path through the fields of Dreamland, passing by the occasional traveling Waddle Dee and a few Bronto Burts. Within an hour, they arrived at the base of the Dreamstalk. Vesa took a few steps closer and brushed her hand along the plant. Elfilis floated up and took a large chunk off the Dreamstalk, using their powers to repair the damage they made after a few moments. The tall angelic lancer observed in intrigue over the odd magical energy flowing through the plant and the fruit it produced.
It didn't help that they discovered enough magical energy from the Dreamstalk could forcibly activate someone's Soul form.
With their work done, Fecto Elfilis floated back to the ground and offered their hand. Vesa took a few steps towards them, allowing them to scoop her into their arm while she perched her hands on their shoulders.
"Ready to go up," she told them.
Holding Vesa close, Elfilis spread their winglike ears and slowly floated up the Dreamstalk. When they ascended into the clouds, they both laid their eyes upon a series of islands floating in close proximity to the Dreamstalk. The ultimate life-form touched down on an island flourishing with colorful plants. They meandered through the fields and admired some colorful flowers with interesting shapes they passed by. Vesa brushed her hand along the stem of a pop flower. The pop flower deposited a sandwich into her hand, so Vesa and Elfilis stopped for a brief moment for lunch. A Chip could be seen frolicking in a nearby bundle of grass, playing a game of tag with a Birdon and a Waddle Dee.
Out of the corner of her eye, Vesa spotted a strange short figure with floating hands, some kind of budding flower in place of hair and a skirt made of grass. As she observed the creature foraging in the field, she tilted her head to the side and placed a finger on her chin.
"Hello?"
The creature paused for a moment and turned to face Vesa and Elfilis.
"Oh?!" the creature gasped, "where did you two come from?"
Elfilis blinked curiously.
"We're from the surface," Vesa explained, "we simply came here to visit."
The short creature took a moment to circle both Elfilis and Vesa.
"Ohh," the creature chirruped, "are you perhaps a resident of Dreamland?"
"We are not," Elfilis corrected, "but we do live here now."
The creature took a moment to process the information before she nodded.
"Well," she proclaimed, "if you're here to visit, I guess I'll do the honors to introduce you. Welcome to Floralia."
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well," Elfilis could only nod.
The Floralian took a moment to gather her basket.
"I'll just need to get these berries to the rest of my kind," she suggested, "and then we can show you around."
Vesa's face lit up, smiling as she clasped her hands together.
"That would be great!" she nodded.
"Ok then," the Floralian gestured, "this way!"
Vesa and Elfilis followed the Floralian through the forest. They jumped back onto the large vine and continued climbing up, passing by the other floating islands along the way. Soon enough, they reached the top most island and meandered their way to the town at the base of the palace in the center. While they strolled down the streets, other Floralians made brief glances at Vesa and Elfilis. A Spynum examined the newcomers for only a moment before lowering its bow.
When they stopped at the gate to the palace, two Lanzers hopped off their posts to greet the Floralian.
"Halt, travelers!" the Lanzer ordered, "state your business and purpose of arrival."
Vesa stiffened nervously and exchanged a brief glance at Elfilis. The Floralian bowed her head.
"My apologies," the Floralian said, "these two are just visitors."
"I," Vesa added, "I'm Vesa Krasniqi."
"And I am Fecto Elfilis," Elfilis towered over the Lanzers, positioning their body to intimidate them.
"A-Anyways," the Floralian continued, "is Taranza available?"
The Lanzers paused for a moment and exchanged brief glances.
"We'll inform the Floralian Council," the Lanzers replied, "then we'll see."
One Lanzer nodded at the other one, who stepped through the gate. Vesa simply shrugged as she took a step back, having calmed down from the initial startle. She gazed into Elfilis's eyes and offered her hand, allowing them to gently grasp it. They calmed down as their chest rumbled with deep purrs. Several minutes later, the gate opened again, and a Floralian with pink petals on her head and a pendant with a rose zircon in it emerged.
"Thank you so much for waiting patiently," the Floralian greeted, giving a bow of deep respect, "my name is Yatzil, the current head of the Floralian Council."
Elfilis gave a slight nod while the lesser Floralian took a moment to explain how she met the human and the ultimate life-form.
"Well," Vesa clasped her hands in front of her, "nice to meet you, too. Really, we were just checking out this place."
"So you're curious?" Yatzil clarified.
Yatzil gave the fellow Floraliana pat on the head.
"You're dismissed," she said, "I'll take over from here."
"T-Thank you, ma'am!"
The local Floralian waved her hand at Vesa and Elfilis before she left.
"Anyways," Yatzil continued, "I'll show you where Taranza is. I'm sure you have some stories to share with him."
Yatzil led Vesa and Elfilis through the gate. They ventured through the corridors and took a few flights of stairs until they arrived at the observatory. When they set foot inside, Elfilis noticed a spider-like creature with silver hair and orange horns with yellow tips as he fiddled with a telescope. When Yatzil cleared her throat, the spider magician paused and turned around.
"Oh," he said, gesturing to Vesa and Elfilis, "afternoon, Miss Yatzil. Are those visitors?"
"It's nice to meet you," Elfilis nodded, placing a hand on their chest, "I am Fecto Elfilis."
The spider magician took a moment to adjust his cape before he approached Elfilis.
"I am Taranza," the spider magician replied, "I must say we haven't had visitors since the death of Queen Sectonia."
Elfilis sensed a deep lingering sadness within Taranza as he mentioned that.
"I can't imagine that you would have many due to how far out of the way most people need to go," Elfilis shrugged, "climbing a plant like this would be a challenge for anyone not able to fly."
Taranza shared glances with Yatzil and nodded at her, allowing her to leave the observatory.
"Anyways," Taranza continued, "all I can do for now is preserve the fond memories I have of Sectonia…before she became a corrupt tyrant."
Taranza returned to maintaining his telescope.
"Anyways," he added, "maybe it was necessary so the Floralians could be free. I wonder how Kirby is doing these days."
Elfilis twitched their feelers as a reminder rang in their head.
"Kirby is doing well, to my knowledge," Elfilis replied, placing a finger on their lower jaw, "he's been coming around to visit us pretty often. Also, while I'm here, I wanted to ask about the Dimensional Mirror."
Taranza paused and glanced over his shoulder.
"Mirror, you said?" he repeated.
"Uhh, yeah," Vesa nodded, "what they said."
Taranza adjusted his scarf with one hand while he scratched his head with another.
"I'll show you where it is."

Feel free to make some fanart related to this fanfic!
And leave a review so Kirby can use them to buy snacks for him and Elfilin.
