Jess was woken up bright and early the next morning when she felt her mattress shift. She had one second of panic before she realized that the presence close to her felt familiar. Lifting the blanket without even opening her eyes Jess smiled when she felt a warm body crawl into bed beside her and lay their head on her shoulder. "Morning baby." Jess said through a yawn. "Does Daddy thinks he is fooling anyone sending you into my bed while he broods by the door?" Jess asked with a smirk. Boyish giggles and tickling from the head of curls lying on her shoulder shaking with laughter let her know she had been right about who it was who had crawled into bed with her.
"It's not natural." Derek muttered from near the doorway.
"Shut up and pay up." Jess said loudly causing more giggles from Isaac. "Don't make bets about fooling me to Scott if you don't want to pay them." Jess ordered slowly throwing off the blanket and stretching slightly.
"Sweet." Scott crowed happily as he left the doorway of her room.
"I'm not sure if I want to ask what that was all about." Melissa's voice spoke sounding tired. Soft footsteps entered the room and Melissa spoke again from beside the bed. "Oh honey, that looks awful! Do you want to stay home today?" Melissa asked Jess.
Opening her eyes and looking down at her stomach Jess grimaced. The bruise from the kick looked awful. Moving was going to HURT today. Feeling Isaac tense beside her Jess sighed. "Nah, I'll be alright." Jess told the woman. Trying to sit up made Jess's head swim from the pain until Isaac put his hand under her and almost launched her off the bed in his attempt to help. "See!" Jess said brightly. "I have my trusty Squire here to help until I get to school and then my Knight will be helping me as well. I'll be just fine." Grabbing a change of clothes Jess took it into the bathroom to get changed.
When Jess came back out a while later the boys had all left her room so it was just Melissa who was waiting when Jess came out of the bathroom. Watching Jess crank the TENS machine up to its maximum setting did nothing to reassure the woman. "Are you sure you don't want to just stay home for the day?" Melissa asked Jess again.
"Oh come on. We both know that today it will be light pain compared to how I will feel tomorrow." Jess said scoffing at the idea of staying home.
Sighing Melissa shook her head. "You don't have to be wonder woman. You can be a regular teen sometimes." Melissa offered walking out the door.
Laughing Jess grabbed her keys and followed Melissa out of the room. "Where would the fun in that be?" Jess asked hobbling out of the room before locking the door and turning to hobble down the stairs. Getting downstairs Jess found Derek in the kitchen cooking up a full breakfast with help from Isaac and Scott. Thinking of how Melissa and the Sheriff had acted as character references for Derek so he could foster Isaac Jess turned to Melissa. "So is Derek allowed to sleep over again? Now that he is cleared by the foster people?"
Startled by the sudden question Melissa looked at the kitchen where Derek, Isaac, and Scott had all frozen to better hear her reply. Melissa turned her head to one side and squinted. " Do you think all three of you will fit in that bed?" She asked Jess trying to keep a straight face.
Scrambling to a bag by the door Isaac pulled out a stack of furniture catalogs. "We can get a bigger bed." He said brightly to Melissa causing her to go pale. Dropping his head Isaac glanced up through his curls at Melissa mischievously and she sighed in relief realizing it had been a joke. "Just kidding." Isaac assured Melissa. "These are for picking stuff to furnish the loft." Isaac explained. Bouncing over to the kitchen island he sat and started flipping through them slowly.
Walking into the kitchen Jess grabbed a yogurt out of the fridge and a couple bottles of juice. Handing one to Derek at the stove Jess handed another to Isaac before sitting down with the third bottle and her yogurt. Before long everyone but Jess had settled around the island with a plate of food. Glancing up Jess froze in horror. Sitting directly across from her at the island were both Isaac and Derek. They each had a plate with some sort of breakfast food and they were each giving her puppy dog eyes.
"Don't you want at least a little bit of scrambled eggs?" Isaac asked softly looking at the empty plate in front of Jess.
Before Jess had a chance to answer Derek started in on her.
"You're sure you don't want ANY ham OR fried potatoes?" Derek asked sadly.
Looking around for help Jess saw Scott and Melissa each had a full plate of food and were watching with glee as Derek and Isaac tried to coax Jess to eat something more then a yogurt for breakfast. Glancing back towards the boys Jess groaned when she saw that Isaac had added a wobbling lower lip to his puppy dog eyes, and beside him Derek seemed to be increasing the power of his pout in steady increments. Looking around wildly Jess saw the clock and cheered internally. "No time! It's time to get to work." Jess said eating her last bite of yogurt and running to the sink to clean the spoon and container.
"No time for breakfast?" Isaac said so sadly it made Jess groan in defeat.
"I will eat a savory muffin or a burrito after work!" Jess muttered to the pouting man and boy who both instantly cheered up and started piling their food into wraps and folding them into burritos so they could eat it on the way to work. Leading the way out the door carrying just her juice, phone, and keys Jess watched as Isaac and Derek practically inhaled their burritos. "You haven't gotten anything for the kitchen in the loft yet have you?" Jess asked Derek seeing how hungry they both seemed to be.
Snorting Isaac swallowed the last of his wrap before he replied. "He hasn't gotten anything for any room. We slept on camping cots. The only reason he got away with it with the foster people is because he had all the catalogues and a bank balance to show he could get furniture and they knew he had moved in that day. Since he had cots and blankets he technically had a safe place for me to sleep." Isaac gleefully told Jess shooting looks at a glowering Derek as he did.
"I will pay for everything. You two just need to tell me what you want me to get." Derek said with a shrug. "Ask Daniel for help if you want. I don't care. Just pick stuff today and send me the information on what you pick so I can order it ASAP. Those cots are not very comfortable." Derek ordered the pair of teens as Isaac crawled into the back of the Camaro and Jess settled in the front passenger seat. Pointing at Jess's bag in the back Derek gestured for Isaac to pass it forward. Digging through it Derek made a noise of triumph as he pulled out the vial of strong pain pills and Jess's water bottle. Handing Jess the water Derek poured two pills in his hand and held them out to Jess his muscles tensed and looking stressed. Derek relaxed slightly and smiled when Jess didn't argue and just accepted and took the two pills. Handing the bag back to Isaac, Derek barely waited until the pair were buckled in before he was peeling out of the driveway and speeding towards the clinic.
When they got to the clinic they were met with an excited and loud Anne making all kinds of barking, yips, and whines to Isaac. The longer it went on the more Isaac's smile grew and soon he was chuckling softly. After a solid few minutes of loud carrying on Derek let loose a loud snarl and Anne quieted.
"What was all that about?" Jess asked the chuckling teen.
Isaac just shook his head. "It's nothing. I'm going to go start on the cat cages and feeding." Isaac said ducking his head and taking off down the hallway. Anne following close at his heels.
Stepping close to Derek Jess rested her head against his chest and let out a contented sigh. "Are we finally going to be able to relax for bit now?" Jess asked tiredly.
Dropping his head and placing a few soft kisses to the top of Jess's head Derek wrapped his arms around Jess. "YOU are going to go sleep in the breakroom while Isaac and I do all the chores. The you can shower, get dressed for the day and eat something before school." Derek ordered.
Knowing that in this case arguing would get her nowhere Jess just nodded and let Derek gently herd her to the breakroom couch. Sitting down on the couch Jess figured that the minute Derek was out the door she would get up and start something for supper. What she didn't expect was for Derek to start to kiss her and to gently push on her shoulders until Jess was lying on her back on the couch with Derek hovering over her kissing her passionately.
Moaning softly Jess tried to pull Derek close but he caught her hands with one of his and pinned them over her head. "Lie still." Derek ordered pinning her hands above her head with one hand and sliding his second hand under her shirt to caress the skin along her side.
Sitting up slightly to kiss Derek in return Jess felt Derek peel off the light sweatshirt she had been wearing over her sport bra. Lying back down on the couch Jess moaned as Derek started kissing not just her face and neck but down the swell of her breasts. The frantic passion that Derek had started the make out session with seemed to fade slowly until he was giving soft, lingering kisses and stroking as much skin as he could reach. Lying back dazed and tired Jess's eyes had closed and within minutes she had drifted off to sleep being softly kissed.
Jess woke with a start to her phone alarm going off. Startling awake Jess found herself covered with a heavy blanket lying on the breakroom couch. Grabbing her phone and checking the time Jess saw that someone had set an alarm that would give her plenty of time to shower, get dressed, and eat without feeling rushed. Getting up off the couch and seeing her sweater and her TENS machine sitting neatly on the side table Jess scowled. That manipulative bastard. He had made out with her to put her to sleep! Turning toward her bag Jess saw that a set of clothes complete with scarf and belt had been folded neatly and placed on the breakroom table. Glancing around the room Jess also saw the slow cooker on the counter filled and running on low to cook whatever was inside it, and some breakfast muffins were thawing on the counter. Huffing angrily Jess scooped up the clothes and headed for the bathroom.
Ten minutes later Jess was wrapped in a towel and looking at the clothes with a grimace. Putting them on was going to hurt. Jess was sore and tired and maneuvering into that clothes would hurt. A soft knock at the door gave Jess a short reprieve from having to begun struggling into the clothes. Opening the door Jess was surprised to see a contrite looking Derek standing in the doorway. "Here to kiss me back to sleep?" Jess asked scowling at the man.
Stepping into the room Derek closed and locked the door behind him. "Was that really such a crime? You needed to rest. And you seemed to be enjoying yourself." Derek said huskily as he moved slowly across the bathroom until he was standing before Jess with a hand on either side reaching past her and resting on the counter behind her. Leaning forwards Derek nuzzled his face against her neck whining softly when she didn't tilt her head to make more space. Wrapping one arm around her and pulling her hips tight against his Derek gave up on getting at her neck and started kissing a trail of open mouth wet kisses along her naked shoulder. Waiting until Jess has started to melt against him in response to the kisses Derek abandoned her shoulder and went back to her neck making a noise almost like a pur when Jess tilted her head way back and to the side to give him more room to work. Speaking between kisses Derek reached blindly for the clothes on the counter. "We...need...to get...you...dressed..." Derek muttered holding up a random piece of clothing in his hand.
Looking over and seeing a sock Jess broke out in giggles. "I usually leave my socks until last." Jess said through her giggles. "Bra and panties might be a better start." Pressing her body harder against Derek's Jess moaned softly. "Did you enjoy digging through my bras and panties to find two that matched?" Jess asked Derek playfully grabbing his hips and holding them tight as she ground softly against him.
Derek nodded his head against her neck sucking hard and bucking his hips slightly against hers desperate for the friction they were creating to continue. Fumbling at the clothes pile again Derek pulled away from Jess's neck long enough to check what he had grabbed and grinning as he proudly held up a pair of panties. Grinding against Jess one more time groaning softly Derek gave a deep sigh then stepped back away from the girl and knelt at her feet. Spreading the panties Derek held them for Jess to step into then started to slowly slide them up her legs. Shooting Jess a mischievous look Derek started to reach up under the towel to slide the panties the rest of the way up.
"Enough. I can pull them up the rest of the way thank you." Jess ordered, laughing when Derek pouted. Pulling the panties up into place Jess handed her pants to a still kneeling Derek and let him help her into them. These Jess let him pull up fully holding the towel up out of his way and moaning softly when he pressed a kiss to her belly right about the waistline of the pants. Turning away from Derek Jess grabbed her bra and slipping her arms through the straps Jess held it over her breasts as the towel dropped. "Can you do it up for me?" Jess asked Derek making eye contact with his through the mirror she was now facing.
Grinning Derek stepped up close behind her and reaching down started to do up the bra slowly while he kissed her neck and shoulder. Smoothing out all the straps and straightening the bra Derek stared at her reflection in the mirror his eye buring red. Sliding his hands down her sides Derek caught her hips in his hands and pulled them back tight against his own, moaning loudly when she shifted against him.
Watching Derek's eyes practically glazing over in pleasure Jess started to slowly grind back against the man. His head soon dropped forwards and Derek began licking and mouthing at the bare skin on her shoulder moaning and clinging tightly to her hips with his hands. "Do you like that?" Jess asked softly smiling when her only response was a desperate whine and almost drunken looking nod of the head against her shoulder. "What about this?" Jess asked before bumping back hard against him.
"Yes!" Derek breathed out the word shakily as Jess started to bounce her hips back against him repeatedly. Moaning he clung tight to her hips gasping with each bounce. "Yes, yes..."
A sudden loud pounding on the door had Derek jumping away from Jess with a snarl eyes blazing and fangs bared snarling and growing towards the door.
Snapped out of the haze of lust she had been caught up in Jess grabbed her shirt from the counter and pulled it on. Grabbing her belt and socks in her hand Jess turned to face the door and frowned when she saw that Derek was still looking ready to kill whoever was interrupting them. "Be out in a few minutes." Jess called loudly. Turning to Derek Jess sighed. "Poor baby. We keep getting you all hot and bothered then getting interrupted." Stepping close Jess placed her hand on the growling man's back and started rubbing slow circles. "Shhh, shhh, it's OK. I know it's frustrating but we'll just have to start being more careful about our timing and picking more private times if we plan to let ourselves get so carried away." Jess said stepping closer and trying to turn Derek from where he was still glaring at the door. "Derek. Derek look at me baby." Jess crooned, slowly sliding her hand up to cup his cheek and pulling his gaze away from the door. Looking up at the very unhappy looking Alpha Jess crooned and standing on tiptoes she started kissing his neck and jaw. "Soon, we'll find a time and place soon to have some alone time just the two of us." Jess promised sliding her hand up into his hair and scratching lightly at his scalp.
Giving one last annoyed growled Derek closed his eyes and dropped his head down to Jesse's neck, teeth returning to normal as he did. Nuzzling against her neck he was just starting to kiss her again when there was another round of loud knocks on the door.
Spining Derek ripped the door open with a snarl to see Deaton standing there looking unimpressed. Beside him Isaac was looking extremely nervous holding a bundle of clothes in his hand.
When Derek glared over at Isaac the teen paled and pointed to the vet. "He did all the knocking!" Isaac said clutching his clothes close to his chest. "I was just going to wait." Isaac said shrinking into himself slightly.
Pushing past Derek Jess stepped out of the bathroom and gave the boy a reassuring smile. "It's fine sweetie. You need time to get ready as well. You go ahead and have your shower." Grabbing Derek's arm Jess started dragging him towards the breakroom. When he dragged his feet to try prolonging the amount of time he could glare at Deaton and Isaac Jess threatened. "If you don't hurry I won't have time to eat anything."
Need to glare forgotten Derek rushed after Jess towards the breakroom ignoring the chuckles and giggles coming from Deaton and Isaac. "You could eat a muffin in the car and Isaac still has to shower, get dressed, and eat." Derek grumbled following Jess into the breakroom. Following Jess to the couch Derek grabbed her socks from her and kneeling he put them on her feet. Grabbing her boots from beside the couch he pushed her feet into her boots and did them up. Standing back up Derek went to the counter and started unwrapping the breakfast muffins and putting them on a plate. Putting the plate in the microwave he turned it on to finish thawing and heating up the muffins. Shifting awkwardly Derek tried to subtly adjust himself without being obvious.
Snorting softly at the awkward shifting Jess smiled at Derek. "We REALLY have to be more selective of when and where we start a makeout session. We are going to scar that poor boy for life. Can you imagine if Deaton hadn't come along and he had been left standing out there listening?" Jess asked Derek looking horrified.
Blushing Derek ducked his head and bit his lip to try to keep from laughing.
"Derek! It's not funny. We are responsible for raising that boy. We have to start thinking of that before we let ourselves get so carried away." Jess said sternly scowling at the smirking Alpha.
"I'm sorry. You're right. I'll get someone busy soundproofing the bedrooms today while you are in school." Derek joked eyes sparkling.
Nodding sharply ignoring the part where he was joking Jess stood up and walking over Jess leaned hard against Derek. Reaching up into the cupboard behind him, effectively pressing her entire body against his and then rubbing as she went up on tiptoes and then slowly sank back down making Derek freeze against her eyes instantly blazing red with lust. "Good." Jess breathed the word into his ear. Turning away with a plate in her hand Jess sashayed towards the microwave saying over her shoulder as she went. "Make sure that they do the bathrooms as well."
Swallowing hard Derek nodded repeatedly. "Yes, ma'am!" Derek said staring after Jess. Pulling out his phone he started searching for companies that did soundproofing.
When Isaac came into the room a few minutes later Jess was sitting at the table nibbling on a muffin while Derek was still totally focused on his phone. "What's he up to?" Isaac asked gesturing towards Derek.
"Looking into getting soundproofing in the loft." Jess replied with a smirk.
"Yes! Please yes! Do that! Before we all move in properly. Please for the sake of my sanity." Isaac pleaded dramatically dropping into a chair beside Jess and grabbing a muffin.
Deaton entering the room just in time to hear Isaac's outburst chuckled and asked. "Whose doing what to save Isaac's sanity?"
Derek still leaning against the counter scrolling and clicking on his phone answered absentmindedly. "Sound proofing the bedrooms at the loft."
Smirking in her seat as the vet blushed Jess reminded the man loudly. "And the bathrooms."
Looking up from his phone and staring at Jess Derek's eyes blazed red as he grinned with his fangs showing. "Mustn't forget the bathrooms." Derek growled leering at Jess.
Sighing heavily at his seat at the table Isaac shot the vet an exasperated look. "Like I said. It's necessary to preserve my sanity." Isaac said seriously.
"We should find out how it's done and soundproof the subway car as well." Jess suggested.
At the counter Derek's head snapped back up to leer at Jess again.
At the table Isaac groaned. "Really? At the place we are going to go train to fight and to get chained up during the full moon. You need to have things ready there incase you two are feeling horny?" Isaac said with disgust.
Throwing the remains of her muffin at Isaac Jess grimaced. "Ew, no! I mean that when you guys transform and are chained up I doubt you will be quiet about it. I imagine a lot of snarling and howling and yelling. And we don't want to attract hunters." Jess said shaking her head at the teen.
Deaton chuckled at the teen before turning to Jess. "I think that is a wonderful idea. You should do whatever you can to try and hide your presence from the hunters." He warned them solemly.
An alarm on Jess's phone warned them it was time to head to school. Isaac grabbed another muffin and grabbed both school bags and took off down the hall. "I'm just going to say bye to Anne. I'll meet you outside." Isaac called.
"Isaac!" Derek bellowed, causing the teen to skid to a stop and look back in concern. "Don't go outside alone. Stay inside the clinic and watch the parking lot. If anyone approaches come back here." Derek ordered sternly eyes flashing red.
Ducking his head Isaac nodded. "Stay inside, watch for threats." Isaas repeated nodding and backing away for a few steps before turning and bolting down the hallway.
Staring after the boy Derek sighed. "That boy is going to give me grey hairs." He muttered quietly shaking his head.
Walking over to Derek Jess cuddled against his chest and grinned up at him. "Aww, look how protective Daddy is of his new puppy." Jess whispered standing on tiptoes to nuzzle and kiss the underside of Derek's jaw.
Wrapping his arms around Jess Derek dropped his head and gave her a long searing kiss on the lips. "Look whose talking. Eyes closed, woken up from a sound sleep by Isaac creeping towards your bed you pull back the blanket to let him climb in, cuddle him to you and greet him. All without opening your eyes." Derek praised. "When Scott made the dare Isaac took a lot of convincing. He was worried you would be mad that we tried to trick you. Instead you proved to him that you can recognize him even with your eyes closed and that you want him close to you even when you're in serious pain." Nuzzling against her neck Derek whispered. "It's a good thing I had already claimed you or I would have been having to fight him for you." Straightening up Derek gently started herding Jess towards towards door. "We should hurry before Isaac and Anne start picking out baby names." Derek muttered hurrying Jess towards the front door.
Stopping dead in her tracks Jess grabbed Derek's arm. "Whoa! Wait! Repeat that for me?" Jess asked totally shocked.
Laughing Derek pulled her along by the arm. "What did you think those two were babbling about all morning?" Derek asked. "Anne was telling Isaac all about how much fun the two of them would have babysitting the puppies for us once we finally mate and have some."
Stunned Jess allowed herself to be pulled into the front room where she saw Isaac kneeling with Anne nodding as she whined. "Yeah six is a good number for a dog. But six is way too many for a human's first time. Even three is too many. I think the most we can hope for in the first litter would be twins." Isaac said seriously to the dog.
Paling Jess swayed for a moment. "Twins!" Turning to Derek eyes wide and horrified she grabbed his shirt and shook him. "Is that more likely because you're a wolf? Am I more likely to have twins or even triplets?" Jess asked in a panic.
Wincing Derek glared at Isaac. "No...not really...There are natural medicines you can take that would increase the chances of you having twins but you don't HAVE to take them. Most women do because with twins there is always another puppy for them to play with. We're pack animals. We do better when we have pack members that we can be close with." Derek reassured Jess easily. "And you don't even have to start thinking about that stuff yet. We have an entire year before that would even begin to be a conversation we would have." Derek reminded the girl.
Slumping against Derek Jess glared at Isaac and Anne. "Hear that! No babies happening here. Not for a LONG time." She said sternly to the pair gesturing around her stomach.
Turning and stepping out the door of the clinic Jess looked back at the pair just in time to catch Isaac whispering hopefully to a dejected looking Anne. "They might adopt!"
Looking at Derek and seeing his hopeful face Jess groaned. "Get that idea out of your head. You are the one that pointed out it isn't safe for young puppies right now!" Jess demanded stomping towards the Camaro. A sheepish Isaac and Derek hurried after Jess to the Camaro being sure to avoid eye contact with the fuming woman.
Once everyone was in the car Derek headed for the Coffee Shop. Pulling into the drive through Derek glance back at Isaac. "What would you like this morning?" Derek asked frowning when the teen looked panicked at the question.
Digging her nails into her hand when she thought of a parent being such a failure that their child was afraid to even pick a hot drink and a pastry Jess breathed deeply and plastered a bright smile on her face before turning to face Isaac. "Did you like what I got you last time sweetie? Or do you want to try something different?" Jess asked him softly. "I always get a tea and sometimes get a fritter or cake. But Derek switches his order around all the time depending on his mood. When he is more tired he gets stronger coffee drinks. But when he is well rested a lot of the time he just gets hot chocolate." Jess told the teen.
Staring down at his bag in his lap Isaac mumbled. "Maybe just a hot chocolate this time?" He said so softly Jess could barely hear him.
Pulling forwards Derek ordered two large hot chocolates with extra whip cream, a large tea, and six apple fritters. Driving up he paid for everything and started handing the drink around the car before setting the box of fritters on Jess's lap. Placing his own drink in the cup holder Derek frowned as he pulled out of the parking lot and headed for the school. "You should ask Danny what he likes to drink in the mornings so we can pick up a drink for him as well." Derek suggested with a contemplative look on his face.
Looking at Derek and seeing the look Jess paled. "No! You may not even offer him the bite. He would need to find out about werewolves himself. Then find out about the bite. Then ask for the bite. And then convince ME that he should be allowed to get it. And even then I think we would need to spend a year or two studying to find out why some people reject the bite and figure out how to he sure it is safe for him before I let you bite him." Jess ranted. Seeing that both Derek and Isaac looked slightly hurt by her rant Jess sighed. "I love you Derek, I love every part of you. But that doesn't mean that I think everyone should be a werewolf. Isaac got a LOT more benefits from the bite then there were risks and I STILL argued against it because I was worried it could hurt him and I had only known him an hour. Danny is my platonic soul mate and his life is already pretty amazing and he is as safe as someone living in Beacon Hills can be. He doesn't need the bite. He can be pack without being a wolf." Jess reasoned softly.
Sighing Derek nodded. "But he can't hang around the loft constantly until he knows about werewolves. He can come for visits but he can't be around all the time. The loft is for people in the know so we can have a place to relax and behave naturally without judgement." Derek said sternly. "And he never gets to go to the train depot until he knows. That place would be dangerous for someone who doesn't know about werewolves." Derek cautioned the teens as he turned into the parking lot and pulled into a parking space. Leaning close to grab a fritter from the box Derek dropped a lightning fast kiss to her lips after glancing around to check if anyone was watching. As usual Danny was infront of the school and strode towards the car smiling when Jess stepped out and Isaac followed. Leaning towards the teens grouped in the open doorway Derek called to Danny. "Sir Daniel! Give Jess your drink order so we can grab you a drink when we stop at the coffee shop each morning. It's not right when your Squire has a hot drink and you're left without." Derek said to the stunned teen smiling at him until Jess stepped between them and closed the door shaking her head.
Danny turned to Jess and Isaac in disbelief. "Did I just have a hallucination or did he just offer to buy me coffee every morning?" Danny asked them looking a little too excited.
Putting her arm through Danny's Jess led the teen away from the car. "Down boy. Derek is straight as an arrow so don't even bother thinking it." Jess cautioned.
"Yep." Isaac agreed falling in on Danny's other side. "Plus he is seeing someone." Isaac told the other teen helpfully.
Danny froze and turned to Isaac in shock. "What! No! He can't be seeing someone!" Danny exclaimed. "When would he even have time? He is always either working or with Jess. So when would he have time to see someone?" Danny demanded not realizing that Isaac was talking about Jess.
Isaac grinned. "Oh, they manage to make time." Shuddering in disgust Isaac scowled. "Trust me! They manage to make time ALL the time." Isaac said looking grossed out. "I'm going to be scarred for life at the rate things are going." Isaac complained.
Turning to Jess realizing that Isaac was likely talking about her Danny demanded loudly "Is that true?" Just as they got to Jess's locker where Scott and Stiles were waiting for Allison.
Biting his lip to keep from giggling Isaac opened Jess locker and switched her books around so she had only the ones for her morning classes before hanging the bag on his shoulder and closing the door of the locker, leaving the box of fritters inside.
"Is what true?" Stiles asked curiously.
Danny paled realizing he might be giving away Jess and Derek's secrets and spun and faced him. "Is it true that Derek Hale is dating someone?" He demanded.
Stiles smiled. "Oh yeah, I thought everyone knew that." Stiles said leaning close he confided. "The other night...She called him her fiance."
Turning to Jess Danny yanked her tea out of her hand and shoved it into Isaac's before Danny pulled her into a hug. "You poor darling! No wonder you've been so frazzled. When did this happen? You two were perfect and were just getting started! When did you break up? When did he meet someone else?" Danny asked Jess quietly, convinced that Jess and Derek must have broken up if some women was calling him her fiance. "Never fear! I will start planning the wedding at once. The minute you turn 18! The babies...they shall be beautiful!" Danny cried dramatically.
Behind Danny Scott gasped and pulling him away from Jess Scott crowded close to her and whispered harshly. "What are you doing? I can't believe you told him about the engagement. I thought you and Derek wanted to keep it quiet until after your were 18?" Scott hissed.
"What!?!" Danny bellowed. Grabbing Scott and spinning him around Danny shoved him against the locker and leaned closed. "Repeat that for me Scott...slowly this time so I can be sure I heard it right." Danny said softly a slightly manic glint in his eyes.
Behind the pair Jess has stepped up to her locker and was hitting her head against it repeatedly. "Great job Scott! Danny was talking about the back up plan wedding where Danny would marry me and father my babies if Derek ever ended up with someone else." Jess told him still thunking her head against the locker while Isaac fretted beside her holding both their drinks.
"Ah, so not the secret wedding that you and Derek are planning then." Stiles confirmed nodding seriously.
Looking up at Danny and seeing a fanatical gleam starting to fill his eyes Scott winced. "Oopps?" He offered weakly as Danny dropped Scott and swooped down on Jess sweeping her off her feet and spinning in circles whooping loudly.
"Shhhhhh!" Jess hissed at Danny frantically. "Shhh, shhh, shhh! You can't say a word! We aren't telling people." Jess hissed to the ecstatic teen. "I was going to wait until I got you alone somewhere private and off school property and tell you then." Jess told the teen. "You can not try doing wedding planning here!" Jess hissed. We will set up a room at the loft for anything to do with the "W" word and all planning shall happen there. In complete secrecy." Jess ordered sternly taking her tea from Isaac. "And before you get to start on THAT we need to furnish the entire loft." Watching Danny's face fall she laughed.
Turning to Isaac and opening her bag Jess took out a thick stack of furniture catalogs. Handing them to Danny Jess smiled when he instantly lit up with excitement. "Derek has veto power for common areas. I have total control of the kitchen. And Isaac has veto powers for his bedroom. But so far we have zero ideas. So flip through and mark things you like and we can talk about them at lunch and after school you can come and see the place." Jess offered. "Lydia will probably want to help. The place has 4 bedrooms so you and Lydia can each design one complete bedroom on your own but for the rest you have to work together." Jess warned opening her locker and reaching inside Jess took out a fritter and bit into it. "Scott, you should run away now. I don't need to be seeing you for the next few hours while I calm down." Jess growled to the teen who paled and nodded turning and taking off with Stiles.
Heading to their first class Danny was badgering Jess about color schemes and materials the entire way demanding to know what she liked and disliked to have as a frame of refence.
"Dark colors, nothing overly shinny, leather furniture, NO carpet but tasteful washable rugs are fine. Just not light colored ones. Light colored accents can come from easy to clean or replace throw pillows and blankets and small decorative items. Think pet friendly, oh and limit the sharp corners." Jess replied thinking out loud.
"Sounds like it would be a dark place." Lydia said falling into a seat near them an snatching a catalogs. "What are we redecorating?" Lydia asked starting to flip through the catalog and folding down corners on pages with dark leather furniture.
Pulling out her phone Jess opened up the file of pictures she had saved from the lofts rental listing. Handing the phone to Lydia Jess smiled. "Floor to ceiling wall of windows will keep it lit up. It's got wood floors, and brickwork. I don't mind some bright colors thrown in but nothing light colored that isn't also easy to clean. It's going to be a pet friendly bachelor pad for a while. I don't want it looking gross."
Flipping through the pictures as soon as she had the phone Lydia smiled. "This place has SO much potential."
Pulling stacks of sticky notes and pens out of her bag Jess handed them around with the catalogs. "Write what room you think it should go in when you mark something. And remember we need to furnish two of the bedrooms ASAP for Isaac and Derek." Jess ordered and started flipping through a catalog. When the teacher called class to order Jess told them to keep the catalogs and they could go over them at lunch.
By lunch time Isaac thought he had everything he would need picked out. Instructing him to sit between them Jess and Lydia watched him flip through through catalogs pointing out his choices. Both girls were openly impressed by how well he had matched colors and styles. Pulling an order form from the back of the catalog Lydia helped Isaac fill it out. When he saw the total his eyes nearly fell out of his head and he crumpled the form and tossed it on his empty tray that he had pushed to the center of the table. "No way! I should have thought of the prices when I was picking things." Pulling the catalog closer he bent over it and started over this time checking prices carefully.
Sitting across the table Danny quietly grabbed the crumpled form and carefully smoothed it out. Taking a few pictures of the form he sent them with a text to Derek.
Jess had Isaac pick stuff for his bedroom. But once we filled out the order form and he saw the total price he freaked out and crumpled it up and said he would start over and do it cheaper. Snagged the form and smoothed it out so you could take a look. Doesn't look like that much for a complete bedroom set to me. And the poor kid needs someone telling him he is worth something. -Danny
A minute later his phone chimed with a response.
Kids worth a hell of a lot more then he realizes. Thanks for sending me the pictures of the form. Put it back in the trash so he doesn't spot it. With the pictures of the form I can get it all ordered. I'll text Jess to let her know. -Derek
Watching sadly as Isaac went through picking the cheapest items he could find Jess was cursing his father once again when her phone chimed. Opening her phone she saw some pictures of a completed order form and a message from Derek.
Your Knight deserves a commendation. He saved and took pictures of Isaac's dream bedroom order form and sent them to me with an explanation. Going to the store right now to get what they have in stock and order what they don't have. Don't care if he never gets bit. The Knight is always welcome in my pack. -Derek
Smiling Jess sent a reply.
Good because he wants to come over to the loft after school to get a better feel for the space and he wants to pick a room to use while he helps us plan our wedding. -Jess
Jess got an instant reply and began a texted conversation.
Why does he need a room in our home to plan a wedding? -Derek
Not A wedding. OUR wedding. Yours and mine. He needs a room that locks at our house because it is suppose to be a secret. -Jess
If it's such a secret then how does he know about it? -Derek
As usual the answer to the question is that Scott is an idiot. Fucking Scott. It'a long story. I will tell you about it later. -Jess
Be sure to remind Scott that if he were not your brother, he would be dead. I will talk to you after school. Probably be in your Tardis. I want to pick up some of the available furniture this afternoon. -Derek
Smart choice. It's bigger on the inside. -Jess
Then my car? No shit Sherlock. It's a good thing your pretty.- Derek
...well it's a good thing one of us is pretty -Jess
Lunch was over and after math class Jess brought her remaining fritters to the gym to share with the Coach. Sitting beside him she took 2 pain pills and opening the box she took a fritter and offered one to the man beside her.
Taking a fritter and staring at the girl the Coach frowned. "Shouldn't you be almost better by now? Why are you acting more sore and taking more pain meds then when I met you?" The Coach asked in concern.
Sighing Jess lifted her shirt to show the black bootshaped bruise on her stomach. "There was another Incident when I went to visit Isaac last night." Looking down at the bruise Jess groaned. "Am I going to need to get a new doctor's note to have my time sitting out of gym extended?" Jess asked poking at the edges of the bruise.
"If you put your shirt down and stop poking at the thing I won't ask for a new note." The Coach bargained looking at the bruise and shuddering.
Dropping her shirt Jess turned and grinned at the Coach. "Deal! Oh and what do you take in your coffee?" Jess asked the Coach pulling out her phone to write it down. "I'm going to be giving Isaac rides to Lacrose practice and I always get a hot drink before school. Makes me feel less likely to kill people when waking up so early." Jess joked waiting for his response.
"Black coffee. Nothing in it. I need it strong to give me strength not to kill cheerful morning people." The Coach joked back. Looking at the students running laps around the gym he smiled at Jess. "Ready to watch these idiots climb a wall?" He asked.
"Hell yeah, how many do you think will fall and how many will freeze and need to be talked down?" Jess wagered. "When I started I use to always freeze and need to be talked down. Managed to get over it mostly but I need to start each session by really testing the harness to know it is secure or I will freeze in a panic while up on the wall." Jess told the Coach.
"Scared of heights?" The Coach asked.
"Scared of falling. If I am high up but feel secure it is great. It is just feeling like I could fall that scares me." Jess told the Coach taking a sip of her water and another bite of her fritter. "These are so much better with tea." Jess complained setting down her refillable water bottle.
"What do you take in your tea?" The Coach asked setting his fritter down on a napkin on the bench between them.
"Half a milk and 2 sugars. No cream. Cream makes me gag." Jess said staring after the Coach in surprise as he set some students to set up the mats and start stretches before leaving the gym.
Shrugging Jess pulled out a textbook and started doing the days reading. A few minutes later she felt someone approaching and recognized the Coach's presence. Looking up she was shocked to see him holding out a mug of tea.
"Careful it's hot." The Coach warned sitting down beside her with a mug full of coffee and picking up his fritter. Taking a sip of coffee then a bite of the fritter he nodded. "You're right. These are definitely better with a warm drink." The Coach said to Jess before standing up and starting to order people to line up and get ready to climb the wall.
Sitting on the bench staring down into the mug of tea Jess had trouble comprehending how this was her life. Setting down the tea Jess sent Danny a text knowing he wouldn't get it until after gym class was over.
The Coach just got me a tea from the teachers lounge because I mentioned my fritter tastes better with tea...I really love him as a teacher...put him on the guest list for the wedding. -Jess
Before Jess could put her phone away it chimed and Jess saw she had a text from Derek.
You're right the truck does fit a lot. The guys helping me load all admired the paint job and decals. I told them you did it all and that you named it the Tardis. I mentioned to the guys how my silly girlfriend had pointed out the obvious about it being bigger on the inside when I asked to borrow it to pick stuff up instead of trying to fit stuff in my sports car. They all laughed really hard. It wasn't until they started asking about all kinds of made up sounding parts and I Googled one of them that I got the joke. Now I feel like an idiot and I am pretty sure the guys that helped me load think I am an idiot as well. -Derek
Just tell them that at least you don't leave the parking break on when you drive just for the cool sound it makes. -Jess
Another Dr. Who reference? -Derek
Yep, one that any true fan will get and should laugh at. Like how any true fan knows the Doctor's Girlfriend flies the Tardis better then he does. -Jess
Told them about the not leaving the parking break on to make a cool noise and that everyone knows my girlfriends flies the Tardis better then I do and they are laughing so hard they can barely stand. And one is saying something about me looking a bit like Nine? I think I need to watch this show. -Derek
I am coming to the school early to fill some paperwork about me being Isaac's guardian. You guys can meet me at the office. -Derek
Bad idea. The new Principle is an ARGENT! -Jess
If you have to fill out forms fine but we will go and wait by the truck. We don't want him to see us together with you. -Jess
Oh! Say something about Isaac having PTSD around men he doesn't know who have positions of power over him and so can't be brought into the office for a meeting unless they call you in to be there with him! -Jess
I do not like this. How do you two feel about home schooling? -Derek
Don't make jokes like that. I would love to be done with school but foster care people likely wouldn't allow it. -Jess
I'll use the PTSD excuse to keep Isaac from being called to see the Principle. Hopefully I will just be dealing with the secretary today. Go out to the truck like normal. Tell Danny to wait an hour before he comes to the loft that way Isaac and I can carry everything up before he comes. -Derek
OK. Going to invite Lydia as well. -Jess
For the rest of gym class Jess flipped through catalogs marking the furniture she liked. Near the end of class she winced when a girl froze on the wall and Allison loudly mentioned her having epilepsy and rock climbing being unsafe. Getting up Jess wandered over closer to the group and glared at Allison. Danny and Isaac instantly gravitated towards Jess as everyone stared up at the girl on the wall. Jess took the opportunity to tell Isaac to avoid the main doors and head straight to the truck after he showered and to warn him about the new Principle. Turning to Danny Jess gave him the address for the loft and told him to give them an hour to run errands and get home before showing up at the loft. Jess gave Lydia the same info and also asked her to please not share the address with anyone. As the girl got to the ground and rushed through the crowd Jess stepped in her way. "Good job. I've had to have someone climb up after me and pull me off the wall when I froze badly while climbing." Jess said loudly glaring at the students who had been laughing at the girl.
"Lots of you loosers have had trouble while on this wall or on the rope." The Coach agreed loudly. "No shame in not being perfect at everything. We can't all be like Danny." The Coach joked making everyone laugh. "Now whose next?"
Smiling Jess turned to watch as Danny and Isaac stepped forwards to climb the wall. "Excuse me. I NEED to watch my boys." Jess said as she stepped around the girl. Watching as the pair raced for the top and tied Jess cheered loudly for them. When the next random pair went Jess led Danny and Isaac to clap and cheer when they reached the top as well. Soon the entire class was cheering for each student as they reached the top.
Clapping along the Coach smiled at the class. "That's it. That's the way you should respond to your classmates doing something tough. Cheer them on encourage them." Nodding at Jess the Coach turned to ask if anyone hadn't climbed the wall yet or wanted to try again.
A while later class was over and Jess had finished her tea and given the mug back to the Coach. Standing outside the gym waiting for the boys Jess heard shouting in the dark gym and ran inside to see what was going on. Seeing the girl from earlier seizing on the ground and a crowd was forming around her Jess stormed across the gym. "Shove a bunched up shirt between her head and the hard floor!" Jess yelled. Grabing the first student she reached she yanked them away from the crowd snarling. "Don't just stand there!. Go and get the nurse you idiot." Watching them run off she grabbed another student and yanked them away from the crowd. "Go tell the office what is happening. I'm sure they have a protocol to follow telling them what to do." Shoving through the rest of the crowd Jess stood behind Scott who was trying to support the seizing girl somewhat. Facing the group and scowling Jess made a shooing gesture. "The rest of you can get the hell out of here. This isn't a circus act or a concert for your entertainment." When someone asked why they should leave Danny moved to stand beside Jess on one side and Isaac stood on the other holding her bag. Pulling her pepper spray from her bag Jess raised it threateningly. "Is this really the last thing you want to see clearly all week?" Jess asked aiming the can at the crowd. The group quickly turned and headed towards the locker rooms with several voices grumbling about bossy, bitchy, teachers pets. Teachers from the office showed up at the same time as the nurse and rushed to where Scott was still trying to help the seizing girl. Seeing that things were handled Jess thanked Isaac for remembering her bag and tucked the pepper spray back into her bag. "Alright then. Take two. I'll meet you boys out in the hallway in a little while." Jess said waving the boys off and heading out into the hallway.
When the boys showed up a few minutes later looking pissed off Jess laughed. "Let me guess. The locker room was full of guys bitching because I ruined all their fun?" Jess guessed not looking at all worried. "The girls locker room was probably similar. And for a while people will bitch about how I'm a bossy teachers pet. And I will continue not to give a crap. And it will continue to mean nothing." Jess said linking her arms through both boys arms and pulling them out a side door. When they got to the truck and saw Anne in her vest sitting in the seat Jess rushed forwards to open the door and let her out to run around. After so long of not getting to play with the students there wasn't a crowd waiting for her anymore but when people spotted her they yelled her name and in just a few minutes a large crowd of students had made a large circle and the happy dog was tearing around inside the circle getting loved on.
When the Coach came outside to wait for the ambulance and saw the crowd he wandered over and smiled to see the dog being loved on by everyone. "Whose pup?" He asked the crowd and smiled when the dog came to him to be pet.
"Mine." A voice spoke from behind him. Turning to see a dark brooding looking man in a black leather jacket. "But I left her in the truck." He grumbled glaring around at the crowd.
"Oh, well that not good. Which of you idiots thought it was OK to let this dog out of the truck?" The Coach asked turning to the group angrily.
"That would be me Coach. I have shared custody of that dog and own that truck so I don't think I can be called an idiot for it." Jess said from the back of the group.
"Then next time stand where I can see you so I know that it was you." Derek grumbled snapping his fingers and watching as the dog ran over to stand beside the truck.
"Wow! That is one well trained pup." The Coach marveled. "What's the name of your dog trainer?" The Coach asked pulling out a pen and paper.
Jess laughed. "Anne's training was a group project. To start she is just a really smart well behaved dog. Then a bunch of us worked with her each day until she could understand us and we could better understand her. No professional dog trainer involved." Jess explained.
"Too bad. My dog is in desperate need of a tune up." The Coach said putting the paper and pen back in his pocket.
Standing behind Jess and hearing this Isaac stepped around her and asked quietly. "What problems are you having? I'm not an expert but I'm really good with dogs. Maybe I could help. "
Looking surprised the Coach glanced at Jess and Derek who were both smiling and nodding. "He jumps on people and bark incessantly. If you could try working with him sometime I would be grateful." The Coach said.
Isaac turned to look at Derek hopefully. "I would be willing to try." He said hesitantly.
Seeing that Derek looked uncertain Jess made a suggestion. "Why not bring your dog to the Animal Clinic after school sometime and have Isaac meet you there? Isaac can use the exercise yard to meet with your dog and not have to worry about the dog being territorial and I will be inside the clinic working if something comes up that Isaac feels he can't handle." Jess offered.
Derek, Isaac, and the Coach were all smiling happily at this suggestion.
"Speaking of plans we really need to be going if we want to make it in time for our plans." Derek said putting a hand on Jess and Isaac's backs and pushing them gently towards the truck.
The Coach seeing all the stuff piled in the truck asked with obvious concern. "Are you all going to fit in there?"
Jess just about died laughing when without missing a beat Derek replied. "Don't worry. It's the Tardis. It's bigger on the inside."
Unloading the truck was easy without witnesses. The boys just picked up the heavy boxes and strolled inside with them. Jess's job was to hold the door of the building open. Getting upstairs to the loft Jess was surprised to see a huge leather couch, love seat, and recliner in the main room grouped around a massive glass topped coffee table.
"I bought these and got them delivered today." Derek said dropping Jess's schoolbag on the couch and watching Isaac drop his backpack beside it.
Once all the boxes were upstairs and had been set down Derek turned to Isaac. "Did you pick which room you wanted? The sound proofers came in today and while everything was empty they got it all done. Turns out they have an expanding foam they can put inside the walls and foam panels for ceilings. Since we had no furniture they were able to get everything done in one day. They said the sound proofing will get better as it dries and hardens over the next 24-48 hours. So we can get this stuff set up in your room once you pick one out. The room we camped in last night is my room but you can have your pick from any of the other 3." Derek told the incredulous teen.
"I'm surprised they had so much of the list I sent you in stock. I didn't realize those choices would be so popular." Isaac said staring at all the boxes. "I guess the room at the end of the hall would work fine. No need to put extra stress on the soundproofing if we don't have too." Isaac said grabbing a box and random and carrying it upstairs. Once everything was in the room Isaac moved to open a box but was stopped by Derek.
"Hold on a minute." Pulling out his wallet Derek pulled out a thick stack of bills. "Danny and Lydia will be here soon and we have zero food in this place. Think you can handle running to the store and getting some drinks and snacks?" Derek asked the teen offering the stack of bills.
Taking the stack nervously Isaac looked at Derek with concern. "What kinds of things?" He asked worriedly.
Rolling her eyes Jess grabbed Isaac and led him out if the room and down the stairs to where she had left her bag. "I'll help you make a list." Jess offered pulling out paper, and a pen. Scribbling down a list of drinks and snacks both healthy and unhealthy and adding paper plates, plastic cutlery, and plastic cups Jess pulled her keys from her bag and handed the list and the keys to the boy. "Take your time. If you see anything not on the list and want to get it go ahead and get it as long as you got the stuff on the list already. Drive carefully and wear your seatbelt." Jess instructed.
Isaac stared at the keys in his hand in shock for a moment before he threw himself at her and squeezed her tight whispering "Thank you!" In her ear before he turned and pounded down the stairs.
Before Jess had even made it back up the stairs Jess's phone chimed to announce a text and Jess laughed when she read it.
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Isaac with the Tardis keys flying to a store near you! Lmao. Kid is losing it he is so excited. I'll be upstairs in a minute. -Danny
By the time Jess got back up the stairs with Danny Derek had the bedframe half assembled. Grabbing a box cutter Danny selected a box at random and started opening it to assemble whatever was inside it. And Jess just helped where ever they needed an extra set if hands.
"I put the blankets and sheets in the wash earlier today. Could you get them from the dryer?" Derek asked Jess as he heaved the box spring onto the assembled bed.
Smiling at how quickly the room was coming together Jess went down the stairs and found Lydia standing in the middle of the main space looking around in amazement. "Lydia! You made it. I just need to grab the blankets from the laundry room and bring them upstairs. You can head up yourself or wait for me your choice." Jess called as she raced across the large room to the laundry room tucked in the corner. Entering the room Jess opened the dryer and pulled out a large armload of sheets, pillow cases, and a matching duvet cover. Piling them in the shopping bags sitting beside the washing machine Jess saw the duvet and pillows in another bag and grabbed them as well. Loaded down with bags Jess rushed back through the room towards the stairs. Calling out for Lydia to hurry as she rushed by. "Once we had all the stuff upstairs in the room we sent Isaac to the store for snacks and drinks. We are trying to get the room all set up and get back downstairs before he gets back." Jess explained rushing up the stairs followed by the redhead.
"Why the rush? The stuff for the second set was so blah." Lydia complained walking into the room. Looking around at all the stuff in the room Lydia smiled. "You got him the good stuff! Now I get why you want to surprise him!" Grabbing the duvet cover and the duvet from Jess she moved to the hallway and started getting the cover onto the duvet.
Tossing the fitted sheet to Derek Jess started putting the pillows in pillow cases. Looking around the room Jess smiled. The dresser with a mirror was against the wall near the door. The bed was in the middle of the room. A desk was against the other wall. The bed was bracketed with night stands and a wooden chest was set against the footboard. The furniture was all from the same company with the same color and fittings. Dark wood with silver fittings and the wooden chest matched as well. A leather recliner sat facing the wall of windows and in the corner near the window was a low table with a flat screen t.v. with giant speakers and a gaming system with a few games. Looking at those in surprise knowing Isaac hadn't mentioned them Jess pointed wordlessly and turned to Derek.
Seeing Jess pointing Derek shrugged. "I asked the guy working there what a teen boy needed in their room." Derek said and pointed at the desk. Jess looked and realized that the boxes on it were a new laptop and phone. And drapped over the desk chair was a new leather jacket.
Finishing putting the covers on the pillows Jess laid them on the bed and helped Lydia spread the duvet over the mattress.
Picking up the last bits of tape and cardboard Jess put them in one of the empty rooms with all the other cardboard and packaging materials. Carefully closing the doors of both rooms but leaving on the light in Isaac's new room everyone headed downstairs to wait for Isaac.
Picking up Isaac's school bag Derek set it in the middle of the floor with a smirk. "When he gets back I'll ask him to take it upstairs and put it in his new room."
"I wish I could see his face when he sees it all." Danny said lounging on a couch flipping through a catalog.
"I think he might react strongly and I am sure he will appreciate some privacy for that." Jess said softly flipping through another cataloge seated on the loveseat with the footrest up.
A few minutes later Derek seated in the recliner looked up from his catalog and smiled excitedly before schooling his face and looking back down at the cataloge. Anne seated on the couch between Danny and Lydia jumped off the couch and ran to sit by the door.
Everyone made sure to school their expressions. When Isaac came through the door loaded down with bags Derek and Danny both leapt up to help him carry it all to the coffee table. Setting everything down, Isaac gave the keys to Jess and the change to Derek. "I got a few things that weren't on the list..." Isaac said uncertainly to Derek tensing for a bad reaction.
Smiling at the teen Derek nodded. "Good, this all looks great. Could you just take your school bag upstairs and put it in your new room a minute before we all dig in? You can bring your stuff from the Master Bedroom as well and just put it all in your room. We managed to get it set up while you were gone." Derek said with a smile. "Once you put the bags in your room you can come right back down or you can unpack some of your stuff. Up to you." Derek told the teen.
Glancing uncertainly at Jess Isaac ducked his head in a nod and rushed over to get his bag and rushed upstairs with it without saying a word.
Wincing Jess bit her lip. "Poor kid thinks he's being sent upstairs to be out of our way doesn't he?" Jess asked Derek.
Sighing Derek nodded. "He should realize that isn't it when he sees the room. Sucks that he thought it at all though." Turning to Lydia and Danny Derek gestured to the table of food. "Help yourselves. Just make sure not to take the last of anything. Not sure what Isaac picked out for himself and I don't want him not to get some of it." Wincing Derek glanced up the stairs and turned to Jess. "I think we should probably go up and make sure he is OK." Derek said to her already making his way towards the stairs.
Getting up and following Derek Jess hurried up the stairs after him. Standing outside the barely open bedroom door Derek looked worried. Knocking on the door and waiting but receiving no response Jess opened the door slowly. "Isaac, sweetie? Can Derek and I come in?" Jess asked softly.
Putting his hand on her shoulder Derek held her back and entered the room himself first. "Isaac?" Looking around Derek saw the teen standing by the recliner near the wall of windows and the TV his head down and his shoulders shaking silently. Walking over Derek placed a hand on the boys shoulder. "Isaac?" Was all he manged to saw before he was tackled from the side by a sobbing teenager.
Following Derek into the room and seeing him tackled Jess quickly closed the door and just stood back and watched.
Wrapping his arms around the sobbing teen Derek just held him tight and let him cry. "I've got you." One hand was cradling the boys head and the other was rubbing up and down his back.
Walking over to the pair Jeas reached up and started rubbing the boys back as well. "We're right here. We've got you now." Jess cooed to the teen. Pulling out her phone Jess sent a text to Lydia and Danny.
Too much, too soon. We broke him. He's done for the night and we need to take care of him. Can you let yourselves out? Don't want to leave him right now. -Jess
Jess got instant replies
Poor little Squire Lambkins. Give him a cuddle for me. I'll see you two tomorrow. -Danny
I broke myself not long ago so I get it. Hope he feels better soon. Taking catalogs home to look through while the images are fresh. I'll show you what I pick when I see you tomorrow. -Lydia
Putting her phone in her pocket Jess turned all her attention to the distraught teen. "Danny and Lydia are going home. They said they will talk to us tomorrow.
Groaning Isaac buried his face against Derek's shoulder. "They Hic Will Sniff Think Hic I'm a Hic Baby." Isaac said through hiccups and sniffles.
Jess just laughed. "Honey Lydia just spent days naked in the woods because a crazy man bit her. She's not going to judge. And Danny already thinks you're a baby. It's why you are a Squire and not a fellow knight." Reaching up Jess carded her fingers through his curls and cooed. "Cutest fricking baby ever."
After a few more minutes of quiet crying Isaac pulled away from Derek. Isaac sniffed and hiccuped as he looked around the room. "It just surprised me. It all cost so much and you're already doing so much for me. I can't pay you back. I can never pay you both back for everything you've done." Isaac said shaking his head in despair and staring down at his feet.
Putting a hand under Isaac's chin Derek made him raise his head so Derek could look him in the eyes. "You are pack. Pack is family. Family doesn't need to pay each other back for helping one another." Derek said slowly and clearly. "Now I don't know about you but I want some snacks." Derek said brightly. Stopping to grab the leather jacket from the chair Derek drapped it over Isaac's shoulders. "Let's go back downstairs and break in those couches." Turning Derek led the way down the stairs.
Wrapping her arm around the still shaking teen Jess guided him out of the room and down the stairs. Settling on the couch in a corner Jess pulled Isaac down to cuddle against her.
Derek glanced at his watch and frowned. "I need to run an errand. Not sure how late I will be. I'll ask Melissa if you can spend the night here." Derek said grabbing a bag of chips and a bottle of juice and dropping a kiss on Jess's head while tosling Isaac's curls. "I'll tell you about it when I get back unless your asleep then I'll tell you about it tomorrow."
"Or if I am allowed to spend the night and am asleep you will wake me to tell me about it when we move upstairs." Jess offered wiggling her eyebrows.
Beside her Isaac giggled. "Thank goodness the sound proofing got done today." Isaac joked sitting up and grabbing a bag of chips and a soda.
"Yeah you giggle but I bet your grateful for it later." Jess joked right back.
Smirking and leering at Jess Derek growled. "I know I am." Before he turned and left the apartment.
Jess and Isaac each made up paper plates full of food before putting the rest of the food away in the cabinets and the cheap fridge Derek had picked up to use until Jess decided what giant fridges she wanted for her kitchen. After eating the pair cuddled on the couch until Jess's phone chimed with a text from Melissa.
Talked to Derek. If you want to spend the night go ahead. And if you wake up too sore for school just let me know and I'll call in and say I'm keeping you home. Thanks for asking. -Melissa
"I think that you should head to bed sweetie. You are barely keeping your eyes open and I'm not much better. Too much shit nights lately we need some decent sleep." Jess said untangling from the cuddly teen and prodding him to his feet.
Standing by the stairs looking pathetic Isaac pouted out his lip and looked at Jess with big puppy dog eyes. "Can I bring Anne up to my room?" He begged softly.
Anne sitting at Isaac's feet whined softly along with him.
"Of course you can sweetheart. Anne isn't a pet with silly rules about where she can go. She is family and can go anywhere in the apartment that you can go." Jess said to the boy and dog. Following the pair upstairs Jess headed into Derek's room and grabbed one of his shirts and a pair of his boxers from the bag by the door without even turning on the lights and changed into them, removing her bra at the same time. Coming out of Derek's room Jess went over to Isaac's room and knocked.
A few seconds later the door was opened by Isaac in what Jess recognized as Derek's shirt and sweatpants. "Yeah?" Isaac asked softly.
Jess smiled up at the teen. "Go on. Into bed so I can tuck you in." Jess ordered watching the teens eyes well up with tears before he scrambled to the bed and slid under the covers blushing bright red. Jess walked over and carefully straightened the blankets pulling them up securely over the teen. Sitting on the edge of the bed Jess started stroking her hand through the boy's curls crooning softly to him. "Close your eyes lamb. It's time to sleep now baby."
Sinking down into the new pillows, tucked under the new blankets Isaac smiled shyly up at Jess while leaning gently into the petting.
"There now, close your eyes." Jess said softly tracing a path from Isaac's hairline, down his forehead, down between his eyes, and along his nose. "I'm here. You're safe. I've got you now. Close your eyes." Jess crooned running her fingers through Isaac's hair and smiling as his eyes started to shut. "That's it baby. Close your eyes and go to sleep." Isaac's eyes shut and he started to relax more and more, his breathing slowed as Jess continued speaking softly to the exhausted teen. "Shhh, shhh, shhh, go to sleep. Shhh lambkins I'm here, go to sleep. I've got you." It didn't take long before the teen was snoring softly. Carefully getting up Jess headed back downstairs to wait for Derek.
Nearly an hour later Derek bounced into the apartment startling Jess awake. Looking over at the hyped up bouncing werewolf as he grabbed a drink, chugged it all, and bounced back over to the couch Jess quirked an eyebrow. "Did your errand go well then?" Jess asked motioning to his energetic, jittery behavior.
"Perfect! It went Perfect." Derek said happily eyes flashing red. Turning he glanced up the stairs. "Are the kids down for the night?" Derek asked voice suddenly husky as he sat on the couch and leaned over to start kissing and licking at her neck.
"Yep, tucked Isaac in and Anne was sleeping in the chair in his room by the time I left the room." Jess said breathlessly grabbing Derek's face and pulling it up to hers for a searing kiss.
"And Melissa said it was OK for you to stay the night?" Derek asked wrapping his arms around Jess and tugging her close sucking hard at her neck.
Pushing hard to knock Derek backwards so that he was lying on the couch hugging Jess to his chest Jess straddled the man, kneeling with a knee on each side of him with her hands on his chest. Leaning down and latching onto his neck Jess started sucking hard.
Groaning Derek moved his hands from Jess's back down to her hips and grabbing them firmly pulled her so she settled down firmly on his lap. Settling Jess on his lap Derek kept one hand on her hip and slowly slid the other up her side, lightly brushing the side of her breast through her shirt watching her carefully to see how she reacted.
Pulling away from Derek's neck Jess smiled down at him, eyes sparkling. Reaching down Jess grabbed the edges of his shirt and tugged it up and off his chest in one smooth motion leaving it tangled aroung his arms. Smirking Jess tucked the tangled shirt behind his head to trap his arms. "Lie still." Jess whispered playfully against Derek's ear. Looking down as his bare chest and abs Jess smiled and leaning down she start licking and kissing a trail down from his shoulder to his pectoral muscle. When Jess tried to move lower then his pecs to get to his abs Derek suddenly tensed and started to squirm away from the kisses.
"Don't." Derek breathed his entire abdomen ridged. "Please." Derek pleaded his breath ragged as he started tugging at the tangled shirt tucked under his head and started whining softly.
Freezing at the sudden change in moods Jess carefully reached up and unhooked the shirt from behind his head and helped Derek to free his arms moving slowly and calmly while Derek trembled beneath her. "Shhh, shhh, shhh. It's ok baby. You're safe now." Scratching his scalp the way that always left her with a puddle of melted werewolf Jess waited until he had stopped trembling and relaxed under her before she slowly shifted her hand to his lower stomach to test a theory. Instantly Derek tensed and moved to pull away. "Shhhhhh, shhhhhh baby." Jess crooned digging her fingers into his scalp and scratching hard in all his favorite spots. "You're OK. You're safe now. Shhhhhh, shhhhhhh, I'm not going to hurt you baby." Jess crooned. "You're OK." Slowly Derek relaxed again. Lifting the hand she had left on his stomach while scratching his scalp Jess just kept crooning to the trembling man. "Your safe now baby. It's ok. You're not tied up. You're free. We can stop anytime you want to baby. You're in control. It's ok. It's OK baby." Moving her hand away from his stomach Jess laid on the couch beside him and pulled his head down against her neck scratching his scalp. Looking at the suddenly exhausted man Jess leaned forwards and kissed him softly. "Poor baby. You're safe now puppy. You can sleep. Your safe. I've got you. We will talk about this later." Lying together on the couch comforting the trembling man Jess lost all track of time. Feeling the werewolf slowly falling asleep beside her Jess closed her eyes and let herself drift off to sleep as well.
Jess woke up a few hours later when a hand started tracing patterns on her belly. Derek was lying on his side facing her and watching. He was tense and looking much less sure of himself then he had been earlier. "You finally ready to talk about it?" Jess asked him. Catching his hand Jess pulled it to her lips and kissed it softly hoping to relieve some of the tension that was radiating off of the man.
Tugging his hand away from Jess Derek ran his fingers through his hair and curled in on himself slightly. Looking anywhere but at Jess Derek took a few deep breaths before he spoke. "We need to stop getting so carried away. We shouldn't really even be dating. Anything more then a chaste kiss is crossing a line that I never thought that I would EVER cross." Derek said his voice starting soft and hesitant but ending the sentence sounding angry and practically growling. Sitting up Derek shifted until he was sitting on the couch with his elbows on his knees and his head down. Both hands buried in his hair. "We can't keep doing this. I WON'T be like HER!" Derek snarled pulling at his hair and leaping to his feet to start pacing infront of the couch growling softly.
Watching Derek pace and growl and realizing how torn up he was Jess slowly stood and stepping into his path she caught hold of Derek's arm pulling him to a stop. "You are NOTHING like that monster!" Jess said firmly. Moving slowly Jess reached up and put her hand on Derek's cheek forcing him to look at her and staring him straight in the eyes, ignoring how Derek's eyes were still shining bright red. "She tricked you into a relationship just to get information from you so she could hurt you and your family. Honestly I would barely even call what you had a relationship." Shifting the hand on his cheek up into his hair Jess started to gently run her fingers though his hair. "What we have is NOTHING like that. You are my closest friend, the only person I know that I can trust completely. I know that you would never hurt me." Jess said staring up at Derek and willing him to believe her. "I love YOU. I love everything about you. I love just being around you and spending time with you. The kissing and sexy touching we have been doing is wonderful and I have been really enjoying it. But it isn't the most important part of our relationship. If you want us to hit rewind and move back to just some chaste kisses and lighter touches and cuddling then that is what we will do. We BOTH need to be comfortable with the physical part of our relationship." Jess said keeping her voice soft and calm.
Looking down at Jess and listening to her speech the tension slowly started to ease from Derek's muscles. When she finished speaking Derek closed his eyes and suddenly sagged. "Are you sure?" Derek asked quietly. "I would understand if you were having second thoughts about things. If you decided that you would rather be with someone who wasn't so broken and could do normal relationship type things with you I wouldn't get in the way..." Derek said softly keeping his eyes closed as he spoke.
Clenching a handful of Derek's hair Jess pulled his head down against her neck and wrapped her other arm around him clutching him close. "Don't be an idiot!" Jess scolded cuddling as close to Derek as she could get. "YOU are the ONLY one that I have ANY interest in. And I am just as broken as you are. It makes us match even better then most couples because our broken pieces fit together to make one unbroken masterpiece." Putting her lips right against Derek's ear Jess made sure he understood her thoughts on the matter. "You are my MATE! Even if we don't make things official for a bit more then a year and even if you need even longer that that to be ready for us to explore every part of our relationship that isn't going to change the fact that we are MATES we are meant to be together FOREVER!" Feeling Derek start to shake against her side Jess placed a soft kiss on Derek's cheek and pulled him along with her as she slowly sank down to lay on the couch. Laying back with Derek snuggled tightly against her side, his head buried against her neck Jess held him as he placed soft kisses against her neck, trembling softly in relief until they both fell back asleep.
