Prologue 5: Assassin

'Tap. Tap. Tap.' A tapping noise has persisted for a few hours by now. This was because the person performing the 'typing' was none other than Tokiomi Tohsaka. He was in the middle of writing his will in case he perished in the Grail War.

The document read 'If I, Tokiomi Tohsaka were to be killed, my entire fortune, as well as my house and all of my possessions, would be given to my daughter, Rin Tohsaka. Signed Tokiomi Tohsaka.

"… Phew." Tokiomi muttered as he used his handkerchief to wipe his sweat-covered forehead. Tokiomi was an expert at using Flame Magecraft as well as other types of Magecraft including but not limited to Reinforcement, Familiar Usage, Divination, Spiritual Evocation, Alchemy, Summoning, Necromancy, and especially Spiritual Healing which he mastered. He was able to even teach all of this to his disciple Kirei Kotomine with ease. However…

… Having to type for hours on end made him feel utterly exhausted.

"Huh?" Tokiomi muttered as a bottle of water suddenly appeared in front of his face. He looked to his right side and noticed that it was a certain pink-haired woman with small horns protruding from her head. He instantly recognized her as the Assassin-Class Servant, or more commonly known as…

"Thanks, Nyu." Tokiomi replied as he took the bottle of water and proceeded to…

"Glug, glug, glug." chug down the water. However, this was a mistake as only seconds later…

"No problem!" Nyu replied as she twirled around in front of Tokiomi. Nyu had the mind of a young girl, even younger than his own daughter. The problem was that she did this while being…

… Completely…

… Exposed.

"PLOOOOH!" Tokiomi immediately spat out the water onto the pink-haired girl. One would normally get extremely annoyed if this happened to them. Instead…

"Huh?" Nyu muttered with a tilt of her head and a confused expression on her face. Though Tokiomi didn't pay attention to this. Because he was trying to avoid making any eye contact with her for… two big reasons.

"KIREI! WHY IS SHE NAKED AGAIN?!" Tokiomi yelled at the top of his lungs which was something he always tried to avoid doing. However, in this situation, he was left with very little choice.

A few seconds later…

'Step. Step. Step.' Kirei stepped into the room with a disgruntled expression.

"Tch. Why am I not surprised." Kirei muttered to himself as he approached the girl.

"Put this on. And DON'T take it off this time." Kirei instructed as he threw a white T-shirt at the girl that landed right on her face. Normally, this would upset a person. But like last time…

"Yay!" Nyu replied with a smile on her face while she put the shirt on and as a result was no longer exposed.

"Kirei… are you sure that this girl… is your Servant? And of the Assassin-Class no less?" Tokiomi asked as he was utterly perplexed over the fact that this girl was a Servant. Especially, one as simple-minded as this girl.

"Unfortunately, she is indeed my Servant and the Assassin in this Grail War." Kirei replied matter-of-factly. It was also a surprise for him that this girl ended up being summoned. This was because Kirei nor Tokiomi have ever heard of an Assassin being summoned that wasn't one of the Hassan.

Not only did she have no skull mask to speak of, but the fact that she had the appearance of a teenage girl was ludicrous. But there were three things that concerned the two men. First, was that this girl's true name…

"Have you found out the identity of this girl?" Tokiomi asked.

"I have not been able to decipher her true name. I also have not been able to find any noteworthy killers with the name 'Nyu.' The few that I was able to find had only killed a few people. Though their kill counts paled in comparison to someone like for example, Jack the Ripper." Kirei admitted.

"I… see. The fact that we have very little information about this girl is concerning. Along with those horns." Tokiomi replied as he looked at Nyu's horns. Those were the other two problems, the horns on her head.

"Perhaps, she's the descendant of an Oni." Kirei spoke.

"Isn't 'Nyu' a Tongan name? I have never heard of an Oni existing outside of Japan, much less an island in Oceania of all places." Tokiomi replied.

"I said 'perhaps.' Either way, this Servant is useless if she can't even fight." Kirei replied.

"What? You fought against her?!" Tokiomi asked.

"I wanted to see what this Servant was capable of. And all I found out was absolutely nothing. The Servant didn't even put up a fight after being stabbed multiple times with these." Kirei spoke as he showed off his black keys which had blood splatter on them.

"Kirei, how can you be so reckless?!" Tokiomi snapped back.

"HAHAHA!" Familiar laughter came from out of nowhere as a man with golden hair that matched his armor materialized out of thin air.

"K-King Gilgamesh?!" Tokiomi yelled out.

"Forgive me. I was slightly amused over you showing some emotions for a change." Gilgamesh replied.

"What is that supposed to mean? I'm only human. Of course, I'm going to be emotional here and there." Tokiomi replied.

"Yes. Being 'emotional' is a very human trait. However, I did not expect you to show so many human emotions in these past few days." Gilgamesh spoke with a smirk.

"What are you getting at?" Tokiomi asked.

"What I'm getting at is that it is highly unusual for you to be so human. In the albeit few days I've known you, you have maintained a calm and composed attitude, except around this mongrel." Gilgamesh replied as he cocked his head toward Nyu.

"Can you blame me with her stripping all the time?! I can't look at that! I'm a married man with tw-one daughter. Anyway, it is highly disrespectful for me to look at another woman's body that isn't my wife's!" Tokiomi yelled out with a face that was bright red.

"Hahaha… HAHAHA!" Gilgamesh laughed hysterically.

"I don't understand. What's so funny, my King?" Tokiomi asked.

"HAHAHA… the fact that you don't even recognize the truth behind your behavior is comedy gold! HAHAHA!" Gilgamesh continued to laugh very loudly.

"… Don't tell me… you have gotten attached to that Servant… Tokiomi?" Kirei asked.

"W-Where did that accusation come from?! Don't be ridiculous! I have no attachment to that girl whatsoever!" Tokiomi snapped back.

"Four times." Kirei spoke.

"What?" Tokiomi replied.

"You called that Servant a 'girl' four times now." Kirei pointed out.

"I-I did?!" Tokiomi replied.

"Yes. Even though you know her Fate will be to be sacrificed to the Holy Grail… you still unknowingly referred to her as a person multiple times. If that isn't proof that you have gotten attached to her, then I don't know what is." Kirei replied.

"That is absurd! I don't give a damn about any girl that isn't Rin!" Tokiomi snapped back.

"See? Even your disciple has noticed the truth. Face it, Tokiomi, you have grown attached to that mongrel. Perhaps, becoming a father has made you more compassionate towards girls?" Gilgamesh interjected with a smirk.

"T-That is impossible! I-I don't have any reason to ca-" Tokiomi spoke but was interrupted by Archer.

"Then how about this… let's have Assassin be killed by King Gilgamesh." Kirei interjected.

"K-Kirei, have you gone mad?! Why would we sacrifice her for no reason at all?!" Tokiomi yelled out.

"No. There are plenty of good reasons to sacrifice Assassin. Not only would it rid us of someone who may stab us in the back, but we would also be sending a message to the competition. That Archer will be the one to win this Holy Grail War." Kirei replied.

"Ah!" Tokiomi gasped.

"Ha! It appears that you can't refute that. It's only natural since it is the logical course of action. Plus, your disciple, Kirei was it?" Gilgamesh asked.

"That is correct." Kirei replied.

"Kirei would be forfeiting the Grail to you." Gilgamesh asked.

"Having Archer kill Assassin, wasn't that always the plan, in the end, Tokiomi?" Kirei interjected.

"K-Kirei-" Tokiomi spoke his disciple's name before being cut off by Gilgamesh.

"HAHAHA!" Gilgamesh laughed hysterically once more.

"Tch." Tokiomi clicked his tongue after being checkmated in this argument. But then…

"Since you've made me laugh more than I have in a long time, I'll tell you something. But I'm only going to say it once. If you do not quell that compassion, you have towards younger women…" Gilgamesh spoke but paused for a second as he approached Tokiomi until-

"… Then that will be your downfall." Gilgamesh finished as he vanished without a trace.

"I will not die… to such unnecessary feelings." Tokiomi muttered to himself as he stormed out of the room. This meant that Kirei and Nyu were now alone. With no one in the way to stop him…

'Bam!' Kirei punched Nyu in the face sending her hurtling to the ground.

"Huh?" Kirei muttered as he looked at Nyu with a bruise on her cheek and then his hand which had her blood on it.

'Why did I just do that? Once Tokiomi left the room, without a second thought, I punched her? Why would I do such a thing? No. Why am I feeling such… animosity toward this Servant? And why am I being reminded of-' Kirei thought internally until he remembered something that he thought he had long forgotten.

'Dear, if no one thinks you are a Saint, then I will. I understand you more than everyone else ever will. For that reason, I can say with certainty, that I love you.'

'… That woman.' Kirei remembered the pitiful expression of his deceased wife that made him put a hand to his face out of anger. But then…

"AH!" Kirei gasped as he felt something wrapped around his neck. It felt like a human hand. However…

… There was nothing visible that was touching him.

'W-What is this?!' Kirei thought internally as he gasped for air. He then locked eyes with the attacker which was none other than his own Servant. She stood up while staring at Kirei with daggers in her eyes.

"Don't you dare touch me again. Because if you do…" Nyu, no. Something else that was inside of Nyu's body spoke as it approached Kirei until-

"… I will rip your head off." This other person inside of Nyu finished as she along with Nyu proceeded to vanish into thin air.

"HAH… HAH… HAH…" Kirei fell to the ground while he gasped for breath. However…

"HAH… ha… HAH… hahaha…" His panting soon became laughter.

"Just… who the hell… is that… Servant?" Kirei muttered to himself as he stood up with a grin on his face.

"Maybe… she will get to live… for a bit longer." Kirei finished as he left the room. For the first time, in his entire life, Kirei…

… was fascinated by someone.
