Hey, beloved readers. Just a note saying I might have to push back September's update. Starting next week is my exam and I might not have time to write a new chapter. It's a might, so it's not certain yet. Depends.
Despite our readiness to fight against the Gods and our obvious talents, we were stuck in the room for what felt like months. I don't know why, but the door wouldn't open no matter how much force we used. I suggested vapour-travelling, but apparently that didn't work since I just teleported back to the room. I don't even know how so don't ask me. It might be because I don't use it often. Like Nico once said, "with great power comes great need to nap." But right now, I find it odd how only it applied when I tried to teleport. Hazel admitted to be the same. After a day, Hazel made a good suggestion. "Do you think they are testing us?" She sat at the edge of her bed, her fingers tapping each other. "To see how long we can survive?"
"Then that is just stupid." I grouched. "Once we get out, I'm going to stuff them in a room completely air shut and without ambrosia and nectar. See how they like it."
"No, I don't think that's it." Frank countered. "I mean, Hazel could be right. But I think it's like some form of torture in their mind. See if we would break, and any information about the gods would be revealed for them to use, and an excuse to execute us."
"Frank, I love you a lot, but think. This is the Ancient times. Do they need an excuse to kill us?" I raised my eyebrows sceptically from where I was changing the water vapour into water droplets and collecting them. It probably could go faster, but I love the way it just condenses. It's just so fascinating, I never had such a close connection with water without Hali. Now, I could sense and even feel how water evaporates and condenses. I can sense people, anyone that has blood or ichor in their veins, even from worlds away, and control it. I think Frank could also sense people (maybe not as far as me), but he doesn't like to use Hydro. He's just too used to only having shape-shifting. Which reminds me of yesterday when he turned into Blackjack. Now that was fun. He even got the characteristics of my beloved horse, wanting a donut after he turned back.
"Or maybe, they just see how we survive." Hazel hummed, weaving her hands in a complicated way. Tiny green sprouts rose from the ground, following her hands. As she pressed her hands down, they grew flowers which became ripe in seconds. Hazel plucked the strawberries from their stem, offering them to Frank who ate them. I had a smaller stomach compared to them, waving away the fruits Hazel offered to me. The barren plant turned grey after giving Hazel what it had, blowing away as dust. She barely noticed. Once, she grew so upset and fearful of her powers, she refused to go out to the gardens or anywhere that had plants. With a bit of coaxing, more from Frank than me, she finally came to terms that the plants would've died anyways. That not every plant could be saved. It's kinda twisted, but what did you think? We're demigods even though we cut off our ties. I'm not ashamed of my birthright, just ashamed of my heritage.
I passed Frank the glass of water. We barely had enough to survive, but luckily we have gone through worse. Sometimes, I wake up feeling like it was just after the war. None of us really had an appetite back then and the feeling was just so familiar.
Lying with my back against the door, I sighed. This wasn't how I imagined things would be. For the first time in my life, I was truly alone. With two of my best friends, but still. Alone. There was no one out there who missed me or knew I was missing. All gone. No one other than them knew the real me. Honestly? It was worse than anything, besides betrayal. My flaw would be the ruin of me.
Hazel looked better than the two of us. Frank looked like he lost a third of his weight, and me? I don't know. They haven't invented mirrors yet. I can tell you though, that this armour was indestructible. Did I ever tell you what it looks like? Well, it's black with gold swirls as design at my sides. The breastplate had an aquamarine diamond in the middle, just below my breasts, with more shards of it at the sides. It's some kind of protection that ensures I don't need to clean it and it ensures the armour is indestructible. If it somehow does destroy. (accidental lightning bolt. I hadn't actually think that it would bounce back) it would repair itself which saves me a lot of trouble. I have on cufflinks and armlets, which honestly I think I could go without but it regualtes the temperature. Also, a very, very loose belt where that mortal steel sword resides. You know, the steel sword with that blood red gem? Still don't know what to call it. Also, don't know why the Fates gave it to me. I wore a skirt. The top is white but it slowly turns to ice-blue at the end. I wore knee-high boots that are black with gold designs, matching my breastplate.
I wish things were different. I wish… it doesn't really matter what I think, does it? Nothing really matters. Life doesn't matter. My hand fell to the ground.
"It's been weeks. We need real food." Hazel's voice shook as she spoke. Our eyes moved as one, to the racks of weapons, but that wasn't our motive. It was the bags of nectar and ambrosia behind them, hidden from sight. Yes, we brought them. We had 6 months to prepare, and we couldn't have trained for all that time. Frank, the most sensible one, shook his head, even though his eyes spoke differently. "We shouldn't." He swallowed. "Different worlds, we aren't sure if the effects will be affected. Besides, it is only for emergencies."
"This is an emergency, Frank." I shot back half-heartedly. He laid back down on his bed. If we weren't demigods, I knew we wouldn't have lived for so long. "Maybe so, Sephie, but it won't help. It's a test, a training. You'll see."
I brought my knees closer to my chest, wrapping my hands around them, curling into a ball, before laying my head down, exhausted. The pain was just whirling inside of me, wanting for an excuse to break everything. This room wasn't even connected to the training room, so there was hardly enough room to move about. It wasn't even about the war now. The Titans didn't trust us, this I can understand. This was their way of testing if we were strong. Apparently Saturn didn't believe what happened with the Shadow Titans. But they overestimated us—they can survive without food, we can't. There was only one good thing about being locked up, every single last of the information the Fates gave us was processed and spread out. We knew exactly which gods were born, where we were, what the situation was, mostly the things required for the war. Hazel and Frank knew Ancient Greek, speaking as fluently as me, and vice versa.
Even now, Hazel hummed with thought. "The Shadow Titans are winning, even now. They have pushed the Gods, killing everyone. Saturn is overconfident of what they can do." Yeah, she can do that. When Kronos told her about her powers over shadows, it was a bit surprising, but I bet it was just so she could control the Shadow Titans. Frank sighed, pushing his fingers outward, as if remembering the Chinese Handcuffs. Now that was a funny time.
There was no light for us to tell the time. I groaned, burying my head even more. "I'm going to sleep," I said, my voice muffled.
"Yeah, me too." Frank said. "No point staying awake."
I didn't even bother getting up to go to bed. I just stayed there, huddled in a ball, trying to think back on my friends. We do this for you.
Give us another two weeks before the door finally opens. Frank and I were relentless, fighting each other without stopping as Hazel pushed everything away from us. The door had opened without us noticing. The first thing I smelt was food. Actual food. I stepped forward, spun, and landed on two feet. Frank, who had been lunging toward me, barely missed me as I moved to the side. He too skidded to a stop. I didn't lower my sword. Saturn just stood there, like it was the morning after we made the agreement, not two months after they locked us up. His eyebrows lifted up so high, they seemed to camouflage with his black hair. The golden eyes unnerved me. So far, all the Titans we met looked the same as our world, and any mental image of the gods were also the same, so that's one similarity. The other similarity? I was going to fuck his life up. I snarled, bringing my hand up to the ceiling. The entire ground shook, and I distinctly saw Hazel stumble to the ground. The Shadow Titans next to him were suddenly obliterated, destroyed by the lightning bolt's light when I called it to strike Saturn. When the dust cleared, he still stood there, unmoving, but also annoyed and dirtied. "I was going to congratulate you, but I think you will kill me first." His smooth manner of speech was different from the ancient, raspy snake like voice from the future. Possibly because he's millenia younger. "Y- you nearly killed us!" Hazel stumbled over her words as she got up, almost falling over as she shook with rage and hunger. "We almost died! We told you we would fight!"
Saturn's gaze was almost a concern, but we didn't care. Frank growled animalistically, I thrust out my hand, ready to call on Hali and Azure's powers again. Hazel didn't even bother to wait. The shadows bent towards her as she showed her displeasure at our treatment to Saturn. He held up his hands in a placating way. "I know. And you had much potential, but things are not as simple as they are. The tests we came up with were to test your durability and your loyalty to our cause. Can you do it?"
His eyes bulged suddenly as I ran to him, as fast as lightning, pushing him against the wall, a hand over his throat. "I don't know, Saturn." I whispered in a pleasant tone, which wasn't as pleasant with my hunger-filled voice. "You tell me."
"We don't need you, Saturn." Frank crossed his arms, unmoving. "You need us." Hazel finished, beaming evilly. She pulled it off real nice. I glared at Saturn. "We follow your rule. For now. But I swear if you do this shit again, I will show you why I am not to be crossed. Hazel and Frank can get the rest of your followers, and we will destroy the gods. Too bad you won't be there, huh?" He choked, not because of lack of air, but because I was slowly heating up his blood. Ichor, actually. "Sephie, let him go. We want a war against the Gods, not the Titans. Saturn knows to fear us." Hazel cautioned. "But, um, be sure to leave a lasting impression."
I bared my teeth. "You heard the lady." I flared up my aura, tightening my hold. "Try such a thing again, and I don't care what you have to offer, I will drown you in your own blood." He nodded, eyes almost popping out of their sockets. I tightened my hold again, until I heard a satisfying crunch! and slowly released him. He slouched down, a smile on his lips. He had wanted us to do it. I growled. Was he insane? Wait, don't answer that. Yes he is.
"I must admit, I underestimated you. But now I can finally know how powerful the three of you are." His smile widened. "Come, we have much to discuss. We will finish this round of threats later on."
He didn't even care that I was torturing him just now. What kind of guy is he? Wait, never mind. What am I saying? He's Kronos. Or rather Saturn. But you get what I mean. Hazel slipped her hand in mine. "He's scared, but I think he knows we won't actually carry out our threats." She whispered as we were led around Titus. I raised my eyebrow. "I didn't think I was speaking out loud. I don't have that tendency, cuz." She blinked. "B- but I heard you. Frank did as well."
Ah well, another mystery for another day. I really couldn't bother right now. I want food. And a day-long shower. And a dagger to stab Saturn.
Time skip
"Hey, little girl. You lost?" I glared down at the disgusting men leering at me. They didn't really care that I was taller than them even though they were older. That's the men of Ancient Greece for you.
So, a brief recap since I didn't bother to narrate everything last week. Hazel, Frank and I were officially introduced to the Titans as their new 'soldiers'. Saturn decided to keep it a secret that we didn't belong there. Only the innermost circle was allowed to know. No, we didn't tell the Titans we were from the future. No, we didn't tell Saturn we were related to them. All they knew was that we didn't belong in this world, we were powerful, we hated the Gods, and that they did something to us.
Saturn let us get used to Titus for a week before sending us on 'missions' to prove our loyalty. We would command 1000 of his creation, destroying Earth. I wasn't that eager to kill the humans, nor were Hazel and Frank, but that was war. People got hurt, and there was nothing I could do. Saturn made it very clear if I didn't do it, he would get other Titans to do it, and they won't hesitate.
In that one week of freedom we were allowed, Frank made an awesome discovery. You know when Kronos said he would have the power of Bellona? Well, he figured out what that meant. It wasn't the same as what Reyna had though. The shards around the edge of our pendants? I told you there were three larger ones shaped like diamonds. Turns out they were detachable. They are imbued with the power of the pendant, connected to the user. Say for Frank, if he gave us the shards, we could use his powers, but if he died (not on any of our watches but just hypothetically) then the shards would turn to dust and the temporary power we gain would also fade. If, say, he commanded one of the shards to not work, then it'll be like it was just a regular old jewel. Each of the pendants have different amounts of power. With Frank, we gain basic knowledge over all weapons and enhance our powers. Omichli gives us control over our appearance and control over the Shadow Titans. And Hali? I don't know. It's not that I don't want to, it's that different pendants have different ways of removing the shards. Hazel only has to twist them anti-clockwise. Frank is a bit more violent and has to pry them with a small dagger. (Don't worry, Allagi's perfectly fine, it has its endurance powers) I tried both with Hali, but I suppose it is as stubborn as me and its shards refused to budge.
It is my first mission and I was determined not to fuck it up, like what I did to Saturn's collection of books. (Who knew he liked to read? Anyways, it was revenge. I loved his screams of bloody murder as he realised what I did)
Honestly, I think I chose my location well. I decided to go solo for this, to prove my worth and see how well I could do with Hali and Azure. I had no backup, and I didn't need any. Not now. And definitely not for these guys. Truly, I shouldn't be that surprised about men. Everyone who knows Ancient Greece knows that the men were cowardly and weak. That the women were the masters at the game, not them. The location is best though. I chose an all men bar. Or what could be considered a bar in the Ancient times, I'm not so sure. All I knew was that there were no women in the area and all the men were drunk and powerful. Powerful as in I could take all their wealth after I'm done with them and I won't be remorseful about it.
For now, I played right into their fantasies. With Omichli's shard, I had on a stunning turquoise, split thigh dress, with a golden belt and a wave signature in the middle. Azure hung on my neck, as always, and I also covered my pouch to make it blend in with my dress. I think I overdid it with the greenness.
"Hello." I whispered shyly in Greek. When one of them reached over with a large, meaty hand, it took the extra effort to not cut it off. After all, they all looked like people Smelly Gabe would hang out with. Instead, I skittered backwards a few steps, pretending to be shy.
"Come here." One of them instructed arrogantly. I went back to my previous spot, hiding all my anger behind a shy smile as they undressed me with their eyes alone. Blasted men.
"My, aren't you a pretty one." The greasiest of them all purred. "Come, little one."
I really couldn't take it anymore. With one clean movement, I ripped through the Mist, hand on my sword, and sliced his head off cleanly. The rest of my disguise fell apart quickly to show my true self. Midnight dark hair with a green streak tied up together in a long, thick braid. Black and gold armour with a blue and white skirt, and a black and gold diadem. My belt hung loosely, on the right side was my pouch with Azure, the left side was a sheath for the mortal steel sword. (If you can't remember, it's the sword I found with me when we were teleported here. I named it Kósmina, after the red ruby on the pommel. We don't know why it was here, but it is a normal steel blade, we think it's to blend in. Hah, like I ever could)
Two immediately fainted from the blood oozing out of the man's stump. I moved away as it slumped down, hitting the ground with a thud. "Disgusting men." I snapped in Greek. "Truly, I cannot fathom why Prometheus created such useless beings! Women should rule!"
"Women are weak, and their only purpose is to serve us!" A brave, or stupid, man yelled out. I snapped my finger, and let them all watch as he choked and gagged, like a fish out of the water. He fell down, blood coming out everywhere. His mouth, nose, eyes, ears. Everywhere.
More screamed as I relished the power I had. Smiling, I sang out, "stay!" Like puppets, they all stood limp, with panicked lights in their eyes but none leaving. I love my siren-speak. Reverting back to normal, I cackled. "Lord Saturn gives his wishes!"
Most recognised that name. "You are a demon!" One screamed in fury. I raised my hand, my middle finger and thumb pressed together. He fell silent, cowering in fear.
"Let it be known! I am Prodosia!" None recognised it. They shouldn't. It's too modern for their ears. "A warrior of my own rights, I have formed an alliance with the Titan King, Lord Saturn.
"And I really hate people like you." I finished, snapping my finger. Some screamed, others tried to run. I waited with Kósmina as they all fell to the ground and their screams were abruptly cut short.
"Oh, dear Gods." Someone whispered behind me, a whisper that didn't escape me. I glanced behind. Hiding in the shadows of an olive tree (if I'm not mistaken) was a young girl. If anything, she reminded me of Calypso. She wore a white chiton, and her hair was braided, similar to mine except hers was entangled with flowers. Her brown eyes were filled with tears as she came out from the tree and fell to her knees. "Please! Please! Please do not kill me!" She wept as she repeatedly bowed to me. My heart panged, realising she had seen what I did. It didn't help that I was covered in their blood. Quickly getting rid of the stains, I teleported right in front of her, kneeling down on one knee. She was so young. Maybe around Emily's age, but definitely not as innocent. Her exposed skin was covered in blue and black bruises, and the way she held herself? Well, she's not a stranger to begging.
"Child, what is your name?" I feel like I once asked Emily that, but I called her cutie. That nickname was only for her though.
"I- Aura." She said through her tears. "Aura, daughter of Lord-"
"No." I interrupted, annoyed.
"N-no?" She asked, confused.
"You saw what I did, yes? Then you should know I hate men that lord over people. Child, if you want to survive, you need to tell the world you are the one in charge, not a man."
"I- I am sorry." She quickly apologised, wiping her tears. I caught a stray one, letting it float between us.
"Saying sorry is for the weak, especially if you did nothing wrong. Do not let me catch you saying such. You cannot be so agreeable, especially if you are to lead this village."
"I- I am what?" She asked in bewilderment. "Y- you are not going to kill me?" She asked again, more hopefully.
"No child." I said patiently, helping her up to her feet. She's so thin, I realise. Just another victim. "No. I do not kill people like you, struggling and trying to live."
"What are you going to do?" She asked, fear creeping up as she stared at the dead bodies. "What do you want from me?"
"Once I kill the injustice, I need a leader. Someone who will lead the people when I am not around." I turned to her. "Do you think you can do that?"
"You are… invading my village?" She asked, eyebrows furrowed. "But why me? I mean, there are more experienced people around, and I am not that intelligent."
"Aura, listen." I waited for her to stop rambling. It's a big shock, maybe, but nothing Greece hasn't seen before. "I need someone who will unconditionally trust me. Someone who can listen to what I say and won't go off doing things on her own. Adults are foolish, thinking they can lord over someone. Besides, I need someone who can lead the people for a long time."
"But I cannot." She said self-deprecatingly. "Even the girls in my village mock me. I am weak. Useless. They say I am ugly. That I have no worth."
I look at her one more time. Truly, if I got rid of the bruises and the dirt on her, she would fit right in with all the Gods. "No, sweet Aura." I bent down, kissing her cheek. "You are beautiful. You are brave. I have not known you for long, but I know enough. I can see it. You'll become a wonderful leader for them."
"They would not listen." Aura said, as if trying to convince me it is not a good idea.
I smiled. "We shall put this matter aside for now." I offered her my hand. After a moment's hesitation, she took it. "Let me show you what confidence can bring."
"Prodosia… why do you side with the Titans? The people know the Gods are our saviours, and all the Titans do is destroy."
"When you needed the Gods, you did not see them here do you?" I asked, hiding my annoyance.
"They are occupied by the war." She said, running to catch up with me. In a way, I am glad she and I are talking. It's distracting her as I killed the men we walked past. Any men who have fishy thoughts. Yes, I can read their minds. A common power. I mean, I can't do it on strong-willed people, but these men? Weaklings.
"Oh, child, that is what they like you to think. In truth, they do not want to help. They are Gods. A simple snap of their finger, and your lives would all be better. Instead, they waste their powers on trivial fights and petty arguments that only result in humans' death."
"It is not like the Titans are different." She said doubtfully, too absorbed in her thoughts to realise anything else. I flicked my fingers. The men approaching us fell to the ground. I like this.
"Oh, they aren't." I said casually. "But I am."
"I can tell."
"Smart girl." I praised. "The Titans would not care about human lives, but I do. And as long as I show them I am a valuable ally, they will do their utter best to make sure humans are not hurt. Well, make sure the better humans are not hurt. We do not care about the rest, yes? If you want to be a good leader, you must not be afraid to make hard decisions, and show to the world you are ruthless."
"But I cannot." She sadly looked down.
"Aura, I understand where you are coming from." I made her look at me. "Once, I thought I could not be ruthless. Now look where I am. You do not have to change yourself, you just need to change people's perspective of you."
"Really?" She asked hopefully, playing with her fingers. I nodded. "Let me teach you. Lesson 1, do not be afraid of blood."
"I am not." She informed me, glancing around. I was surprised, but it wasn't a bad thing. Looks like Aura wasn't so innocent after all. Wonderful for me. "The people here all know violence. Even the girls. We are not afraid of blood." Her voice failed her. She cleared her throat. "Just afraid of being dealt with violence."
"Well, it's time to change that." I smiled wickedly. "Stand by my side as I conquer this land, Aura. Let everyone know you are not to be messed with."
I glanced around. No one alive in sight besides us. That's good. Holding my hand out in front of me, I concentrated on the water vapour around me, calling them close, forcing them to change state. One second they were gas, the other, they formed a small dagger in ice. I shattered the ice, leaving only the dagger. (It's kind of like summoning weapons if you get me. I'm not exactly sure when I found this ability.)
I offered it to Aura, handle first. "Time to show me if you truly aren't afraid." She took the dagger, examining it. It was a silver dagger, extremely sharp, with a leather grip.
Aura beamed brightly at me like I just gave her a puppy. "Why thank you, Prodosia."
"That is the name I created for myself for the world to know." I informed her. "You may call me Persephone."
"Just Persephone?" She asked, no longer that shy girl. It seems like I underestimated how powerful the girls were. It was all a facade, and it looks like I'm not the only one fooled. The girls in her village were too. How exciting.
"Let's just say I fight for the Titans for my own reasons as well." I winked. "I'm a woman of many secrets. Maybe one day I'll tell you more. Let us not be too hasty."
"When it comes to you, Persephone, I do not think anything is hasty." She said as we advanced again, she leading me. "Everything has a reason. Just like why you chose me."
"Smart Aura."
Aura proved her worth to me after a while. We came across this girl. Nasty being really. She might have once been beautiful. She wasn't now. Her skin was too pale but her hair was too bright to actually form a nice contrast. Her clothes were bits of almost anything that made her look like she was wearing a potato sack that was vomited on by a rainbow. Ghastly. She took one look at me and sneered. "You bring a foreigner here?" She asked Aura, barely hiding her delight. "Just wait until I tell Papa."
"Go ahead." I said smoothly. Aura shook her head. "Allow me, Prodosia." She stepped forward. "Sita, go away." She said coldly. From Sita's expression, she also hadn't seen this version of Aura before. "If not, do not blame me for what will happen."
"Hah!" Sita laughed, raising her hand. "Do not speak to me like that, sissy."
"Sissy!" Aura mocked. "What do you know?"
Quicker than I expected, she plunged the dagger I gave her into Sita's gut. Sita's mouth fell open, but Aura took back the dagger and stabbed her through the heart. She fell down, dead. Aura glanced at me, beaming innocently. "How was that?"
"Splendid." I told her honestly. "You really are becoming what I call ruthless, Aura."
"Thank you, Persephone." She said before turning back to Sita's dead body. "Should we do anything about her?"
"Allow me." I waved my hand. The winds picked up, and her body was lifted. Aura watched with a blank gaze as Sita flew out of sight. "Where is she going?"
"To all the other bodies." I shrugged. "If you like, you can burn them after we're done. A kind of saying, look, I took over this place!"
"How kind of you." She curtsied.
"Come, Aura. Let me show you what the Titans will bring." I waved my hands. Aura yelped in surprise as her legs were lifted from the ground. As were mine. I held her hand as we soared through the skies. Yes, I can tell why Jason liked this.
Honestly, I love Aura. She is like Emily with a touch of me. So beautiful. After my dramatic entrance and what not, she told me the people who were most likely to accept a new leader. I spared her mother, and I killed her father in the most painful way possible. The brazen bull.
After everything, I looked back at the people gathered. Aura was waiting patiently at my side, looking down at her feet. I knew it was somewhat painful for her. She did betray her village for someone she met just hours ago.
"I am Prodosia of Titus!" I yelled to the people, thrusting Kósmina out. Some people visibly flinched. Others hid behind their mothers' backs. I would feel sorry if I still felt sympathy. "I have killed your men, killed your leaders. I lay claim to this village. Any who dare to oppose, I dare you to do it now."
None came out. They all knew who they were facing. I smiled. "Amazing." Then, I gestured for Aura. She stepped up. "I leave you to Aura. She is my lieutenant for this village. She is your leader."
"She's a girl!" Someone screamed in rage. I didn't spare them a look, waving my hand. A noticeable thud sounded and someone screamed in fright.
"Any more comments?" I asked, unbothered. Aura had a hand on her waist, acting unbothered as well. The whole place was silent. I nodded to her.
Aura spread her hands to the people. The people she knew. "I do not plan on being a dictator." She told them kindly. "I never planned on such things. But I am not a doormat. Do not doubt my kindness for timidity. I am not. Prodosia saved us from the men who worked us to our bones. We serve her. We serve the Titans, and we create a better world for ourselves." None dared to speak. "I do not expect you to like my rule." She shook her head. "I am young, and I will not stop you from telling me your opinion. I will not take away your voices like all those foolish, cowardly men did. I hope to remake this village to one where we are both equals. But while I speak of this, I will remind you. Prodosia made me the leader, and for a good reason."
"Awesome." I whispered adoringly.
"You are but one girl." Someone sneered. "A girl who hides behind the villains!" Aura turned white with rage.
"Truly?" I snorted. "Aura. Child. Why don't you show this man what you can do?"
Aura leapt off the ground, her hands going to her left where she hid her dagger. Sotíras, as she lovingly calls it. With one clean strike, she pulled out the person's tongue, and cut it off.
I teleported her back as everyone swarmed around the guy who had fainted from the pain. I held out a hand, Aura passed me the half of the tongue. "Amazing work, Aura." I examined it and sighed. "If only we could do it for every man." I tossed it aside.
"Do not doubt my decisions. Doing so, you doubt the Titans. They are not as forgiving as me." I could feel their shock. Forgiving? As if. "Aura has proven herself, and she does not need to hide. She is powerful in her own rights, and no one is hiding behind anyone. If you don't like this, leave! But do not think I will not catch up to you." No one else dared to speak.
Aura, quick to learn, commanded them to return to their homes. Only one elderly woman stayed. I bowed quickly, realising who she was. The woman was stunned as I straightened. "You are Aura's mother." I smiled. "You did a wonderful job raising her."
"Thank you, my lady." She bowed to me.
"No, no. I do not need that. I do not care for that." I waved Aura forward. "I do wish you can continue guiding your daughter. I know enough that she will not betray me."
"I do not dare." Aura said. "Prodosia, you gave me a new chance at life. I thought I would have to serve the men forever. A few hours later, everything changed. Forgive me if I am still a little surprised."
"Tell me, what is your name?" Aura's mother swallowed before saying lowly, "My lady, I am Thyia."
"Thyia." I nodded. "I name you, Thyia, regent until Aura has matured enough. Aura, listen to your mother when I am not here."
"Persephone," Aura started. "What the man said is somewhat true. There are still hundreds here. How will you stop them from leaving? How will I be able to control them?"
I felt something then. A shudder that racked through my entire body. Checking my pouch, I realised Hali was glowing. Under three pairs of eyes, a shard, not the bigger ones but rather one of the tinier ones around Hali, fell. It floated in mid-air before falling into my waiting palm. I could feel a connection to it. If I focused, I could sense it. See through it like they were my eyes. So this is how… well that was easy.
A small vine appeared and strung itself on the shard. I offered it to Aura. "This gem is connected to me. I am sure you will be able to figure out the powers it has. It can help you control the rebels, and protect you from danger. Both you and your mother." I smiled at Thyia who bowed her head in thanks. "If you ever need me, hold it tightly and think of me. If you are in danger, I will sense it. If you wish to talk to me, well, I'm sure you can figure it out."
Aura surprised me. She leapt forward, wrapping her hands around my waist. I stayed frozen for a second, before returning the hug. "Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!" She moved away, sniffling slightly.
"I will cast a shield around this village. Say, what is this place called?" I looked around. I completely forgot to be honest.
"You conquered it. You should name it." Aura shrugged. Was the name really that bad they could just let it go without a second thought?
I thought of it for a moment. "Kydilla."
"Aura of Kydilla." Aura tried it. "I like it."
"As I was saying, I will cast a shield. With that gem, you can choose who can through and who cannot. Those who try anyways will be shocked by lightning and die before they can make it." I kissed her cheek. "Make me proud, Aura."
"You are leaving?" She asked sadly.
"I have to report back to Saturn. He will be waiting. I have friends eagerly awaiting my return." I winked at her. "Like I said, Aura. Leave me some secrets."
Thyia nodded. "Thank you, Prodosia."
"Call me Persephone. I'm sure your daughter will fill you in. I wish you luck in leading Kydilla, Thyia." I smiled. "Make Greece fear that name."
I gave them a two-finger salute before leaping into the sky.
As I landed soundlessly on the tallest building overseeing Kydilla, I smiled. It was brief, that feeling of absolute power. Yet it was amazing. Even now, Aura has made a great leader, ruthless yet kind when she needs to be.
Thyia has been helping a lot. Already, they have plans to destroy all the Gods' temples they have in Kydilla. I haven't checked on what they are going to use the space for, but I had no doubt Aura would put it to good use.
I turned around to leave, unclasping Azure from its floral cage. Even at night, the lightning shield I had casted was bright and noticeable. Those who haven't learned to fear me eventually will.
I consider this a job well done and a village well conquered.
"Titus." Not many noticed as I slowly walked backwards and into the Solar Stream.
After everything, nothing and no one can hold me down.
