Remus snuck out of the castle again. It was past midnight on a breezy February night. He was wearing a coat to keep him warm, and he made his way to the Forbidden Forest quietly.

A black enormous dog greeted him at the forest's entrance, and then led the way, deep into the woods. Remus followed him. What if he kills him? If he wanted to, he would've done it already.

Once they were far enough into the wood to have been followed or seen, the dog turned into Sirius Black.

"You're back." Sirius greeted him, with a smirk on his face.

"I am." Remus said, annoyed.

"So, are you here because you believe me? Or are you here to kill me?"

"Neither."

The two of them stood there. Just staring at one another. In a different reality, these two would still have been best of friends, maybe even more… not this reality, though.

"Then, why are you here?"

"The truth."

"I already told you the truth."

"I want the details."

"Would you believe me?"

"No," Remus said, and turned to grab something out of his bag. A flask. He handed it to Sirius. Sirius knew exactly what's in it. Veritaserum.

Without hesitation, Sirius grabbed the flask and poured it down his throat.

"How do we know it works?" Remus asked.

"Ask me something," said Sirius.

"Do you actually know how to drive a motorcycle?" Sirius always claimed a cool muggle biker taught him to drive a motorcycle and gave him his leather jacket as a parting gift.

"No."

"And the leather jacket?"

"I bought it from a muggle store."

"I knew it!"

"Happy?"

"Very." Remus said, with a triumphant smile, before getting serious again. "What happened the night of Oct. 31, 1981?"

Here it was the truth. Remus always wanted to know what happened that night. In detail.

Sirius did not know much about that night either. He knows he went to Godric's Hollow after the Potters were already dead. When he found the house in ruins, he realized Pettigrew had told. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, Sirius assumed Death Eaters got to him, tortured him, and made him reveal the location of James and Lily, but when he went to Peter's, and there were no signs of battle or resistance, he realized what has happened. He realized the mistake he has made.

"You have made?" Remus interrupted, confused by that statement.

"I suggested Peter as a Secret-Keeper." Sirius said, before explaining: "I thought no one would go after him, because no would suspect him to be the Secret-Keeper."

Remus nodded, as a signal for Sirius to keep going, and so he did.

Sirius tracked down Pettigrew, and when he was about to finally confront him, Pettigrew beat him to it. He basically shouted for everyone to hear how Sirius betrayed the Potters, before killing twelve innocent muggles and running away, leaving behind a finger.

"Have you noticed, in the picture, the rat has a missing finger?" Sirius turned to Remus, he simply shook his head.

That was the answer to Remus's question. That's the truth. Sirius delivered under an entire flask of truth serum. He must be telling the truth.

The two of them just stood there. Taking each other's presence in. It's been twelve years since the two shared a laugh like that.

"You know," Sirius broke the silence. "I thought a lot about you, while in Azkaban, and about-"

"Why are you here?" Remus interrupted him.

"Revenge."

They were both looking into each other's eyes. Sirius's eyes were burning with raw desire for cruelty and revenge, while Remus's were filled with fear and awe.

"What do you plan to do?"

"I'm killing the rat!"

"Do you think that's wise?"

Sirius paused, before replying: "I don't care."

"What are you gonna do after you kill him?"

"They'll probably have me kissed by the Dementors."

"And you're okay with that?"

"Does it matter? I'm getting the kiss whether I'm okay with it or not!" Sirius said angrily.

"Not necessarily." Remus said, earning raised brows from Sirius.

"What do you mean?"

"What if we used Peter as proof of your innocence?"

Sirius took a few seconds to process it.

"How?"

"I don't know." Remus honestly answered. "That's why I'm here," he said, and pulled an old parchment out of his bag, and threw it at Sirius, who caught it, looked at it, and his eyes widened.

"The map," he said, and Remus simply nodded.

Sirius flipped through map, looking for "Peter Pettigrew", he read to himself, pointing at the dot.

Remus nodded.

"This all the evidence we need!" Sirius said, with a new-found hope for freedom.

"I think we need more evidence than that…" Remus said, and paced around.
