"Headmaster, I have the reports on their current conditions and injuries." Reported Glynda, walking up beside her boss. Ozpin took a hearty sip from his mug, before turning to his right hand and deputy-headmistress. James wasn't present, having been pulled away in order to maintain damage control on the war the six had waged against the Behemoth, as well as reassure the civilian population that the situation was well in hand. Brothers only knew how much James Hated dealing with the media swarm. A sufficient punishment for James and his own foolishness, it was not. But it was a start.
"Very well then, what's the damage report?" Questioned Ozpin, turning his head to look at his closest friend in this life. She quickly opened up her scroll, pulling up the documents she had obtained from the doctors.
"Shikamaru Nara seemed to have been the least injured, having only minor muscle strain and popped blood vessels littered throughout his body on first inspection, relatively minor injuries that his aura would heal in a few days of bed rest. Upon closer inspection however, it was revealed at some point during the battle, he not only had a stroke, but also burst a blood vessel in his brain. He's in surgery now to have the cranial pressure relieved and get the bleeder cauterized." She spoke first of the first member she had a report on, revealing the strain he had gone through restraining the Behemoth for three hours had done quite a number on him.
"Choji Akimichi had the obvious four gashes on his torso, each of them less then half an inch from rupturing his internal organs. He's lucky he moved back during the blow he took that caused them; else he wouldn't be alive right now to have them be sewn up. He's been relegated to bedrest until his doctor says otherwise and is being forced to a liquid and soft foods diet until such a time his doctor feels that his organs are not in danger. Aside from that, he has general bumps and bruises that are to be expected and is currently being administered a I.V. drip of morphine and diphenhydramine in order to help him deal with the pain and put him too sleep prevent moving too much." Glynda continued, face turning slightly green at remembering the condition of the 'Last Giant'. She swore at one point she saw his intestines through his gashes.
"Rock Lee, he's got a lot wrong with him. Right now, he has quite a few dislocated bones, and very prominent exhaustion throughout his body. However, every single muscle is strained right to the edge of being ripped to shreds, and his nerve endings are damaged to the point that any touch is excruciating pain. Meaning, until he's properly sedated and numbed, we can't help him. Any attempt to help so far has resulted in-" she was cut off by a window shaking, blood curdling scream of pain, before a body flew through the wall beside them and crashed into the wall across form them.
"I gather you touched him young man?" Asked Ozpin, a single grey eyebrow raised at the male hospital staff picking himself up with little issue, especially after being hit like that.
"Complete accident on my part, but yeah. Accidently brushed his arm while checking his morphine drip. He didn't appreciate it, as I'm sure you can tell." He replied, picking himself up and poking his head back in through the hole, before fully stepping through. "Sorry about that Mr. Lee, didn't mean to cause you any discomfort or pain."
"… Back on track, Mr. Uchiha has a minor concussion from the impact he took when his vehicle was buried under the rubble that monster threw at it. His skull was also fractured when he was thrown from the shockwave of Rose's final strike. It doesn't appear to have caused any detrimental damage, but the doctors want him to remain here for observation for a few days to ensure no lasting damage. Aside from that, he's in pain from overusing his Semblance, but that nothing his doctors can't handle with painkillers." Resumed Glynda, listing the extent of the Uchiha scions injuries. He was probably the least overall damaged of the squad.
"And our 'Royal Couple' as it were?" Asked an amused Ozpin, having known about their evident attraction for each other since the first day. He still remembered when they walked into his office the day after their first night. They had requested two extra beds the day before, only to tell him the request was moved down too one now! When he pressed for why, he got to witness Naruto turn a shade to match his family name, while Yugito wasn't far behind. Naruto surprised him however, and quickly mustered up the courage to tell him they'd be sharing from now on, only for Yugito to pull his ear demanding to know why he told the headmaster that.
Ozpin had teased them relentlessly since, anytime he saw them with just each other, he made it his mission to embarrass them, constantly reminding them that 'having children, while a wonderful experience, should be saved for after their schooling was complete.' Naruto always got so angry with him when he said that, while Yugito just had a happy, distant look on her face. He had to tease his descendant somehow, didn't he?! It was his right as his ancestor!
"They're both in rough shape, but nothing that can't be fixed. Yugito's entire rib cage is nothing but Comminuted Fracture's right now, but her surgery wrapped up twenty minutes ago. She's in their shared room right now, resting." Answered Glynda, before moving on quickly too the next King of vale. "As for Mister Rose, He wasn't much better. Hairline fractures all over his skeleton, torn muscles and ligaments, exhaustion to a rather profound degree. He was a mess."
"You said 'was' Glynda. Is he not still a mess?" Questioned Ozpin, continuing his walk to the Royal room, the room reserved for the Royal family and any they deem to be allowed in there for treatment. As he looked, he thought he spotted a little red reaper outside the room door.
"It was the strangest thing sir. Within the hour after demanding high calorie count foods like burgers and fries, he was healed as he was eating. He's been perfectly fine and cleared to leave for the past half an hour. He just won't leave until he confirms Yugito is alright for himself. Says he's not leaving till he does." She explained, before they were at the solid steel door, guarded by two large armed and armored men. Sat across from them, tears in her eyes, was the little red reaper.
"What are you doing out here miss Rose? I had thought you'd want to be with your uncle right now…" Questioned Ozpin, having figured she'd be the first one to go in and see the next king. He was her only living connection to her mother after all. He was surprised she wasn't in there right now, hugging the living daylights out of her uncle.
"I tried! They won't let me in!" cried out Ruby, tears spilling down her cheeks as she did, heartbroken at not being able to see her uncle. She only got to hold him for a few moments before he was ripped away from her too be taken here. When she tried to come here and see him, these two Big, Scary men wouldn't let her through! She just wanted to make sure he was ok! She'd leave after if she had too!
"…Gentlemen, a word if you would?" Asked Ozpin, getting both large armored men to look at him. "Do you know who that young girl is, by chance?"
"A bastard child from a disgraced member of the royal lineage is what she is. And She is not worthy of seeing our king." Replied the one on the right quite loudly, hand clenched around the pommel of his sword, the one on the left making a noise of agreement. As they finished, they returned back to their positions by the door.
His words brought an eerie silence descending over the hall, broken only by Ruby's renewed, heartbroken sob's. Glynda looked absolutely appalled at how they treated the young woman, moving to comfort the little girl with a swift embrace to hide the young ladies tears. Ozpin's hand was clenched so hard around his cane, the metal grip was warping under the pressure. Not only was she one of the most promising Huntresses in the past fifty years, not only was she a student at his Academy, but she was also one of his previous incarnations Descendants! She was his grandchild; in any way it mattered but Blood! How dare they mock her!?
"…Thirty seconds, that's how long you have to live." Decided Ozpin, before he reached into his pocket to remove his scroll.
As he did, he moved over to the crying child and seething woman, before making a call. Twenty seconds. They hadn't moved.
When he did, the phone rang quietly for a few rings, before it was picked up. Ten seconds. They still hadn't moved.
He told the man on the other end in no uncertain terms what had been said before he hung up. Zero seconds. Their mistake. His pleasure.
The Steel Door Exploded behind them.
There he was, cloaked in golden Lightning and vibrating in place, his eyes pits of glowing golden lightning.
And. He. Looked. FURIOUS.
"Sir?!" Exclaimed the guard on the right, looking shocked at the sight of his king. The guard on the left was just as shocked, but unfortunately, he'd never feel anything again. Not after the huge slab of the remnants of the steel door cut him in half. Those terrible eyes locked on to him, before turning to
"Him?" he asked, pointing at the guard.
"That's the one." Ozpin confirmed before moving to stand in front of the youngest Rose. She didn't need too see what Naruto was about to do to the bumbling buffoon. No need to traumatize her more then she already was.
Naruto swung his glare back too the now terrified Guard, who was kneeling on the floor, head bowed in supplication. He was even attempting to beg for his life.
How amusing.
"My king please! The Winchester Family has only served the Royal Rose family Loyally for the past 100 years! Surely such long-lived loyalty begets something!" he begged, desperate to avoid his kings fury.
"Your right. Loyalty like your family's does beget something." The king-to-be whispered, before ripping the Sword from it's former owners sheath. "However, if your 'loyal bloodline' produces such Disrespectful and Traitorous curs, then the only thing I can award it…"
"Is a swift extinction!" Roared out Naruto, his voice warped by his fury as he swung down, taking the head off of the bastard in a matter of less then a second. Exhaling his fury, he calmed down, his lightning vanishing with it. It revealed him back in his jeans and white t-shirt, a new pair of black no-brand sneakers on his feet. He threw the sword on it's former owners corpse before he quickly pulled out his scroll and made a call, giving orders too send a new pair of guards and a cleaning crew. Along with placing an arrest warrant for the entire Winchester Family.
Hanging up, he quickly walked over, plucked up Ruby from Glynda's arms, and held her close as he walked back into his room, keeping her eyes form seeing the 'mess' he had made in the hall as he did. Glynda and Ozpin shared a look, before following behind him. When they walked in, they saw him sat beside Yugito's bed, holding her hand in his while cuddling Ruby in his other arm, speaking reassurances into her ear and rubbing her outer arm. He had a small smile as he did, looking truly at peace for the first time in a long time.
"…If anybody says anything like that to you again, you come to me and I'll deal with them, okay?" he asked, getting a nod in return. He hugged her closer then, squeezing her tightly against him in the process. "I missed you so much Ruby."
"…where were you uncle? For all of these years, Where were you? What were you doing?" Asked Ruby, turning her head up to look into her uncles eyes. His eyes gained a sad look when she asked him that before he sighed.
"I… Wasn't in a good place Ruby. Not physically or anything like that, just mentally not in a good place. Physically, I was in the Vacuo Salt-flats, living out my life working on old school muscle cars. Fixing them up, restoring them to like new, selling them for a profit. That kind of thing. It helped…" He began, looking at Ozpin and Glynda briefly, before gesturing them too leave. Understand this was about to be a very personal and intense conversation, they both ducked back outside the room and left. Their conversation could wait for another day.
"But I still wasn't good. Still ain't if I'm being honest. I was there Ruby. I watched as your mother, my little sister, was killed in front of me. I was made to watch, unable to help, unable to fight while that Bastard lying dead out there killed her. And I failed her, failed you, failed our parents." He admitted, only to sigh as she looked up at him confused. "Right, you wouldn't know. When Summer and I were young, our parents were assassinated in the middle of the night."
"The evening before, I had told them of my intention to become a Huntsman, a warrior, so I could protect them and Summer. They just smiled and said they could protect themselves, and too instead focus on my little sister. I, only being a little older then five at the time, didn't think anything of it. Thinking back, I often wonder if they knew what would happen to them and decided to galvanize me further to protect Summer in the wake of their deaths. Wouldn't surprise me." He admitted, much to her shock. "Anyway, when we finished the entombing process and had them safely preserved in the family crypts, I swore at their graves that I wouldn't be too slow to help anyone ever again. That's probably what helped shape my semblance the way it did."
"And for a long time, I kept my word. I was the fastest man on the face of Remnant, the fastest man alive. Only for me to hear about a woman moving in a storm of rose petals who's just as fast as me. Being the young, stubbornly proud fool I was, I tracked her down and challenged her too a race. She accepted, keeping her hood up the whole time. We raced, and we tore up the track we had chosen. Perfectly matched, neither could overtake the other, until in the end, I pulled ahead when she started slowing down from exhaustion. When I won, I demanded to know who was underneath the hood." He weaved his tale, enrapturing his niece with his tale. His smile, while happy, was also sad.
"Imagine my surprise when your mother takes off the hood. I distinctly remember her saying that she couldn't keep up with me yet, but that one day she'd catch up to me, and run by my side for the rest of our days. I think I cried that night, hugging the little sister I was working so hard to protect, only to not realize I was leaving her behind in the process, making her feel like I would abandon her if she couldn't keep up. I promised her I'd never leave her behind, and that she'd always be safe with me there to protect her." He smiled then, confusing her with how much joy was in his smile. "Imagine my surprise when she declared I wouldn't have to protect her, that she would become a Huntress, a warrior just like me, so I wouldn't have to worry about her. I had never been so proud of her, as I was in that moment."
"Fast forward a few years later, about half a year after you were born, I called your house, looking for your mother so I could plan a visit and see my little niece's. Imagine my surprise when your father answers and says that your had gone on a mission for Ozpin. Standard den clearing, a mission any huntress with half her experience and power could do with ease. But she had been gone for a few days now. It was a two-day mission at most, especially with our normal travel speed. I immediately got the mission location from Ozpin, and took my car, the Saber, out there. I arrived at the location in under an hour, and what I saw…" He trailed off, his eyes clouding over with incalculable amounts of RAGE, not anger, not wrath, RAGE.
"That Monster, The Behemoth, stood over her, your mother broken and bloody underneath his paw. She was there, I could have saved her had I been faster…! But I wasn't. and in the end, right before it crushed her… she saw me. And she smiled. And even from as far away as I was, I heard her say 'it's okay.'" He admitted, pulling tears from both of their eyes. Wiping his away, he did the same for her, before finishing his story.
"When I heard that, saw her go, I lost it. My vision went red. I don't remember what happened after, but I drove it off at the cost of the Saber being wrecked beyond any measure she had ever been before, and my body being near ruined permanently. I managed to let off a distress signal before I passed out, but by the time they got there, Summers body had disappeared from the scene. It's why we don't have anything to bury." He explained, getting a sad look from his niece.
"We made a small grave for her, on a cliff on patch. I can take you there, if you want?" She offered, getting a smile in return.
"Yeah I'd like that, Ruby. I'd like that a lot." He said, smiling at his niece. He felt his hand get lightly squeezed, before he turned to look and saw Yugito staring at him, a small smile on her face.
"Not without me buster." She whispered, staring right at him. He smiled right back and squeezed back, smiling at her in turn.
"Of course not Yugito, Not without you." He agreed, lifting her hand to his mouth, planting a soft kiss on her knuckles, his eyes not leaving her own. Ruby stared back and forth, before she pulled on her uncles sleeve, trying to get his attention.
"Who is she, Uncle Naruto?" She asked, staring at the Faunus woman laid up in bed, who Naruto had obviously wanted to be here. She was really pretty and looked really strong too!
"Ruby, meet my partner from all the way back in the academy days. Yugito Nii, The warrior princess of Faunus kind. She's also the aunt of your teammate Blake." He introduced his other half, the other half of the 'Royal couple'. If there was one person, he trusted to have his back in all things, it was Yugito.
"… Is she your wife, Uncle?" Asked Ruby, upon seeing the way her uncle looked at the Faunus woman in the bed, reminding her of the pictures of her father and mother looking at each other. The look in their eyes was unrestrained love, the likes of which she hadn't seen in a long time.
The two of them stopped moving, before they both turned to look at Ruby. They stared at her before turning to stare each other, a small smile forming on both their faces.
"…What do you think Yugito, you wanna get married?" Asked Naruto, his signature grin forming on his face.
"I think I would like that very much, mister King of Vale." She responded, a bright smile forming on her own face. "It's high past time we make the 'Royal couple' official don't you think?"
"I would think so. I'll announce it within the coming weeks, once your able to make a public appearance without the wrappings on your ribs." He proposed, getting a nodding smile from the future Queen of Vale.
"I'll write the speech, your horrible with formal speeches." She assured, getting a frown from her beloved.
"I'm plenty good at giving speeches." He protested.
"On the battlefield, sure. On the podium, your untested and blunt. If you aren't careful, you'll start a riot in the middle of Vale." She promptly told him, getting a nod from the man.
"True. I have no idea how to talk to civilians anymore." He complied, getting a smile from his wife.
"You'll learn quickly I'm sure, I'll teach you if you want me too?" She offered, getting a smile from Naruto.
"Since when do I need an excuse to spend time with you?" He joked.
"Since you decided to become King of Vale and name me your Queen. We're about to be extraordinarily busy." She answered, getting a laugh and a nod from him, before she frowned at him. "There's also the matter of the White Fang. If you intend to marry me, there will be those who decry you for marrying a 'Member of a terrorist group'. What are you going to do?"
"Yugito, I'll have to be honest with them. I'll ask for the current leader of the Fang to come here for talks of stopping their terrorism and returning to peace. If they don't comply, I'll have to officially label them a terrorist extremist group. I don't want to, I'd much rather have the peace your brother-in-law fought for, but I'll do what I have too to keep my home safe, even if it means authorizing lethal force and deployment of our military to stop them. You know that right?" he asked, getting a sad smile from his beloved future wife.
"Ghira has long since denounced what the Fang has become. It's not his peaceful movement anymore. Do what you have too." She assured him, getting a grim nod from him.
"…Wait, does this mean Blake is going to be my cousin?" asked Ruby, completely shattering their serious moods and replacing it with levity and lighthearted laughter.
"Come on squirt, we have to take you to the palace. You need to have your name placed on the 'Rose Bush'." He said getting up and walking out of the room. He waved goodbye to his woman as he did, catching sight of her waving back out of the corner of his eye.
"… The what?!" Ruby said, chasing after him.
"You'll see. How fast can you move?" He asked, leading her out of the hospital.
"Uhhh, with my semblance, pretty quick." She answered a little bit unsure of herself in her answer.
"Show me, I'll catch-up and show you the way too go when you do. Just go in a straight line for now." He told her, getting a nod, before she vanished into a blur, leaving rose petals in her wake, which quickly faded away as she ran.
"Not bad." he whistled, before his eyes were filled with lightning. "But not good enough."
He dashed off after her, catching up in a second, before he pulled slightly ahead and began to lead her to the palace. They arrived and skidded to a stop outside the front gate, Ruby looking on in awe at how little her uncle was affected by such a sprint, while she was a bit out of breath.
"Welcome, Ruby Rose, to the Palace of the royal family of Vale! Welcome to your new Home!"
AND SCENE! That's it for this one for now. A list of their injuries, an explanation of how summer died (Maybe?) and a marriage in the near future! Happy days, happy days!
