Author's Note: Hello everyone, I'm back. I just want to start off by saying thank you to all of you that wished me well wishes during my absence from FF. This hiatus of mine was needed to deal and heal, and while I'm not fully 100%, I feel back like myself more than I did at the beginning of the year. It's still a process, but nothing I can't overcome in the end. Also, I hope you all are still interested in continuing Bella and Jacob's story, and that you still find interest to return back to this story. Here is the next chapter following the last official installment, and I hope you all enjoy it. XOXO, SehunsBae37.
Change of Plans
Chapter XXVII
Bella stared at Jacob in surprise following his announcement. He...he was going to fight alongside the Cullens again. He and the Pack had decided to put their animosity towards the Cullens aside and had agreed to fight against the newborns with them again. She wasn't sure why she was so shocked by this, considering this was what she had been wanting ever since Jacob called off the temporary alliance. But still, for Jacob to agree to work with them again, it was huge.
"Really?" Bella asked, hope evident in her voice. "You guys really will join them in the fight again?"
Jacob nodded and held Bella closer. "Yes, we will. We agreed that even though it should be them to clean up their mess, not acting to help them would not only put those we care about on our land in danger, but it would also affect Forks and the surrounding areas. And as Alpha, I can't have it weighing on my conscience that I didn't do all I could to protect not only you and my brothers, but everyone that the newborns have and will affect."
He paused for a brief moment before adding, "And I can't continue to let the redhead coming after you too, Bells. You or our baby."
The brunette nodded in understanding, knowing what he said was true. He would be bothered by the deaths of many others by his supernatural enemy if he didn't do all he could to try to protect and save as many as he could. And while she knew he'd rather not, she was proud of him that he was. Smiling softly, she placed a sweet kiss to his cheek before saying, "I'm sure Carlisle and the rest are pleased, as it will increase their chances of coming out of this fight alive."
"I haven't informed them yet. I plan to head over tomorrow to let them know we're back in the fight."
"Well, when you go, I want to go with you."
"Bella, I'd really rather you not go. I don't trust the mind reader to keep to himself."
"Jake, I'll be fine. Besides, I'm the root cause of all this; I should be there when you tell them. And I'm going with you, whether you like it or not."
Jacob looked at his girlfriend for a moment before sighing in resignation. Giving her a small smile, he simply replied, "Okay honey".
Bella grinned and kissed Jacob's lips before suggesting they head back out to rejoin everyone for the rest of her graduation party. They'd worry about tomorrow later. Right now was a time to celebrate.
Edward stood on the porch of his home, waiting for Bella and Black to arrive. He was alerted to their incoming arrival when he had heard the engine of the dog's clunky car in the distance and noticed it getting louder. When he heard the engine more clearly, the car sounding about two miles out, the rest of his family joined him outside. Rosalie gave him a hateful glare before turning her attention to the driveway where Jacob and Bella had just pulled in at the mansion. The couple got out of the car and walked towards the waiting vampires, their hands automatically reaching for each other. Edward stepped off the porch and stepped towards them, specifically Bella, and greeted her saying, " Hello, my love. Welcome back."
Black glared at him while Bella simply ignored him. In fact, she didn't even acknowledge him, but just walked right past him before stopping at the bottom of the steps of the porch. With a nod she greeted, "Hi."
Carlisle gave the brunette a kind smile as he greeted warmly, "Hello Bella. It's good to see you again."
"How have you been, dear?" Esme asked with her own warm, motherly smile. "Well, I hope."
"Yes, I have been; thanks."
"And congratulations on your graduation. We're very proud of you."
Rosalie rolled her eyes before saying, "Enough with the pleasantries. Bella and the dog are obviously here to tell us something, so let's get to it."
Bella couldn't help but be slightly amused with Rosalie's attitude. She knew the blonde vampire was still angry with Edward for causing the dissolution of the alliance between them and the Pack, something she had texted her about. She figured Rosalie was hoping they were there to reform the alliance (which they were) but was also on guard in case Edward messed up again before they could.
Jacob looked at Carlisle with a serious expression on his face as he said, "We're not staying long, so I'll keep this brief. You need our help to fight these newborn leeches; you got it. The Pack and I will rejoin you in the fight with the newborns and the redhead."
The relief was obvious on Carlisle and Esme's faces, as well as Alice's, though it was obvious she didn't like not being able to no longer see the future with them around again. Emmett grinned as he placed a hand on his mate's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Rosalie and Jasper's faces remained neutral, but the relief was evident in their golden eyes. It was obvious that everyone appreciated the Pack's willingness to fight with them again, albeit reluctantly. As for Edward, Bella didn't care what he reaction was.
"That is a relief to hear," Carlisle replied. "Now our chances-"
"But only on a few conditions," Jacob said, cutting Carlisle off. Seeing he had everyone's attention, he continued speaking. "We fight with you on the conditions that there will be no more threatening of me or my Pack, and especially not towards Bella and our baby."
Emmett, Jasper, and Rosalie all turned to look at Edward, knowing that statement was really directed towards him. Edward glared at them in response, Rosalie matching his glare with her own, as well as threatening him in her mind if he did anything to mess this alliance up again.
"The Treaty will be dissolved after the fight, and you and your coven will leave for good and never come back. And lastly, the mind reader will leave Bella alone and never contact her again."
"What?!" Edward exclaimed in disbelief.
"If it makes him feel better, Pixie can check in on her whenever she feels like it."
"But I can't see Bella when she's with you," Alice protested. "I can't see anything."
"Exactly."
Edward glared at Jacob before turning to his sire. "Carlisle, these stipulations are ridiculous. You can't possibly agree with them. And Bella needs us around to protect her from not only any more of our kind that may come around here, but from the wolves as well. You know they're volatile."
Bella finally turned to look at her ex, scowling at him and his weak argument. After all, the only reason more vampires kept coming around was because of he and his family having settled in Forks. She heard Jacob growl lowly at Edward's accusation and gave his hand a squeeze, silently telling him to keep his cool. After all, they were just there to negotiate.
The blond coven leader looked at the couple in front of him before turning to look at his mate. He and Esme looked into each others eyes, having a silent conversation between them while keeping their minds closed off from Edward, much to the vampires annoyance. After a few seconds, they turned back towards Jacob and Bella before Carlisle replied, "We accept these terms. Once this confrontation with Victoria and the newborns is over, my family and I will leave. And I promise neither you or Bella will hear from us again."
"Carlisle!" Edward shouted in response to the agreement.
"It's settled, Edward. We are leaving here when everything is said and done, and that's final."
Edward glared at his father-figure before snarling in dissatisfaction and taking off into the surrounding woods. Alice gave Bella a sad frown before running after her sulking brother. She knew he was heartbroken hearing Carlisle agree to Jacob Black's conditions to rejoining them, as it would mean he'd never get to see Bella again. She herself didn't agree with the conditions, but Carlisle had put his foot down. What could she do?
Without another word, Jacob turned and walked to his car, getting in the Rabbit after holding the passenger door open for Bella to get in. Once she was buckled in, as wel! as Jacob behind the wheel, they backed out of the Cullen driveway and headed towards La Push. They rode on in silence for a while before Jacob broke the silence to say, "That went well."
Bella nodded in agreement, thinking it went well too. Howver, she couldn't shake a bad feeling beginning to form in the pit of her stomach. She didn't know why, but she was suddenly getting a feeling of foreboding. She decided not to mention it to Jacob, silently hoping it was all in her mind and that nothing was wrong. After all, the alliance was back on, and everything would surely work out. Right?
Lying in bed later that evening in her room, Bella couldn't help but wonder about the upcoming battle the Pack and the Cullens would be facing. She wondered what would happen, as well as hoped for a good outcome. She knew she shouldn't worry too much, as stressing wouldn't be good to her baby, but she couldn't help but worry. Most everyone she loved and cared about would be fighting for her, to protect her, as well as themselves and those they loved.
Turning over onto her back, she rubbed hee hand over the swell of her stomach, her mind then drifting off to the baby. She began to wonder what the baby would be, what they would look like, who they would look like, who they would be. It made her wonder if her own parents had thought these same thoughts when they were expecting her. Renee most definitely did, but she wondered if Charlie had as well. She couldn't believe she at one point hadn't wanted this baby, but she was so glad she changed her mind.
The brunette paused in rubbing her stomach, a slight frown appearing on her lips in confusion. Did she...she could have sworn she felt some sort of flutter in her tummy. But she couldn't have...could she? Before she could ponder it more, she felt that same slight fluttering again. Quickly sitting up, Bella placed her hands on her stomach, right over her small baby bump. The baby, was it moving? At the thought, Bella couldn't help but feel excitement as well as surprise. Was she even supposed to feel the baby move yet? She didn't know, but she didn't care either. All she knew was that she needed to tell Jacob.
Giggling in joy, Bella reached for her phone on the nightstand to text her boyfriend; it was actually probably better she called him. However, as she opened her phone, she received a text message from Alice. Thinking it was the Seer wanting her to come to her graduation party, which she had already declined to do, Bella was going to ignore it had it not been for the capital lettering of Alice's text.
