Hi Readers: I want to let you know that this is going to be the last chapter for the night. However, there is something that you need to know. And that would be that I am going to be changing a bit of the history in this story, so that it now fits with the storyline that I have created later on in the story. More specifically, how I said that it was not a premature birth for the boys, but an on-time birth. But there is something that I am changing, and that would be where they got pregnant with their sons. Hope you like this change.
Chapter Three Hundred and Eighty
FLASHBACK: The Last Days of Gabby's Time in Puerto Rico
August 31, 2018 – She was pretty tired this Friday evening, as she stood in the shower of her home in San Juan. The home which was full of wonderful memories from her three months here in Puerto Rico. But soon, these memories will only be in her mind as her time here was winding down. And that was due to the fact that she was headed home soon, home to her husband and whatever was going to happen. And while she was excited to see her husband again, she was also worried due to the fact that she had no idea how things were going to work out between the two of them. Whether they would finally have their dream of having a family. Hopefully, with her being pregnant. And yes, she remembers what Matt said in May. He said that he doesn't want her to get pregnant, but she's sure that there's a way for her to change his mind. She'll just have to seduce him or something when she gets home and has him in bed.
Because if there's one thing that she already knows, it's that she wants to have her husband in bed as soon as she can; little did she know that she would have him in bed much sooner than she originally expected. And that was thanks to the key that Matt had in Chicago. The key that he had to either (a) mail back to Puerto Rico so that she could give it back to her landlord, or (b) bring it here himself. And he chose the lather because Matt wanted to be here to help her move, and to make sure that she actually moved back. As much as Matt loves his wife, he really wants to have her home with him; so, he felt like he needed to be here so that he could personally make sure that she came home to him. But not just to him, but with him. And he's positive that Gabby is going to like it, as it means that they're going to have a couple days away from Chicago; something that Matt has rarely done in his entire life.
He's always been a Chicago guy. But he's now come to the realization that he's not "that Chicago guy" anymore, but he's Gabby's man instead. And that means that he needs to do the right thing, which would be to help his beautiful wife move home; something that he can only do for her if he's here in Puerto Rico. So that's exactly what he's doing down here in Puerto Rico, he's going to help her move home; well, that's at least what he's going to tell his wife. You already know the real reason, which is that he wants to make sure that his wife moves home to be with him once more; because he loves her and misses her more than anything in the entire world. And that was why he was here. He was here to make sure that his beautiful wife came home to him, so that the two of them can get some time together; time where they just spend time together on a trip that they're going to take. A nice road trip around the country.
Heck, they may even come back here in the future. But right now, that was the furthest thing from his mind; due to the fact that his wife looked gorgeous as she stood there in the shower. So much so, that he was really turned on and more determined than ever to get in the shower with her; but he was going to do so very quietly, which he was in the midst of doing as he took off his towel this evening. A towel that he found in one of her boxes, which he hopes weren't washed. And even if they were washed, he's positive that she won't mind due to the fact that his body was covered by the towel. But that was no longer the case, as he was instead butt-naked as he stood outside the shower here in the bathroom, taking one last glance at the love of his life. The woman he's proud to call his wife, and can't wait to take in his arms, which is exactly what he plans on doing, the moment he gets in the shower with her.
He just hopes that she isn't scared when he does this, as it may bring back some bad memories; memories from earlier in the year where she had to deal with a peeping tom in the locker room. Oh, the locker room showers where they had sex once (he thinks); but why is he thinking of a locker room shower where they had sex, when he should instead be thinking about this shower? Where he plans on touching his wife for the first time in a while, in a very sexual manner. He just can't wait to get in there, which is why he went ahead and (quietly) opened the shower door. After which, he took one last glance at his wife's naked body (as she hasn't yet heard him as she's listening to music in the shower). But now, it was finally time. Time to tell his wife that he was here, and that she was back in his arms; and that she was never leaving his arms once again, due to the fact that they're forever…and will always be forever.
Putting his hands on her hips as he stood behind her, Matt smirked as he cuddled up behind her. However, he soon felt Gabby get tense and scared; especially after what happened earlier in the year with Nate Isaacs, which is why he soon whispered in her ear. "Take a breath baby, and just calm down. I just couldn't resist the chance to get in the shower with my wife." Turning around as she heard Matt's voice, Gabby was surprised. "Matt?" Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, while stepping close to the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. He then proceeded to wrap his arm around her waist, while bringing her body against his chest; while at the same time, he also placed his hand on her neck and kissed her softly. "Don't worry baby, you're safe with me. I know, I shouldn't have done that…" Wrapping her arms around his back, Gabby shook her head as she leaned up and kissed him.
Because this was exactly what she wanted right now, time with her husband after he gave her the best surprise of her life. "Oh, you most certainly should have; because this is the best surprise in the entire world." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, while leaning in and kissing her once more. He then just continued to take things nice and slow with his beautiful wife, due to the fact that it was exactly what they both wanted at the moment. They both wanted to hold each other close, as they took things nice and slow with each other here in the shower. So much so, that Matt decided to pick her up in his arms; before putting his hands on her sides and wrapping her legs around his waist. At the same time, Gabby wrapped her arms around his neck as she held her husband close to her (while taking things nice and slow with him). Afterwards, Matt carried her to the wall and pushed her against it.
He pushed her against it so that there was nothing in between the both of them, as they held each other close and made sure that they were both really happy right now. Because at the end of the day, that's exactly how they feel. They feel happy, due to the fact that they're back in each other's arms. "I missed you." Gabby agreed with Matt as she put her hands on his face, while continuing to take things slow with him. "I missed you too, and I love you." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, while continuing to take things nice and slow with his beautiful wife. "I love you too, and I am sorry once again about what I said in May." Gabby agreed with Matt. "I know baby, and I promise that we're going to talk about it. But not yet. Not when I just got reunited with my amazing husband, whom I love more than anything in the entire world." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, while continuing to kiss her softly.
However, this truly is not where he wants to be right now, when he would much rather be in bed with her. "Hold on tight." Gabby was confused as she heard Matt say that but wrapped her arms around his neck regardless. "Why?" Matt then proceeded to kiss her neck, sucking on it. "I haven't had sex in four months." Moving to shut off the shower, Matt smirked as he continued to suck on Gabby's neck as a way to turn her on ahead of him making love to her in the bed where they would be sleeping. "Promise me that we just ignore the fight we had for now." Leaning back, Matt agreed with Gabby before putting his hand on her neck. "Let's not talk about it. But just know that I am not willing to give up sex." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, as she felt the same way. "Oh, me neither." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that, kissing her once more before carrying her to the bedroom. "Back left." Matt agreed.
After all, that was where he put his duffle bag. "Where do you think I already put my clothes down?" Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, moving her hand to the side of his face again as they both took things slow with each other shortly after being reunited.
September 1, 2018 – The sight in front of her this morning was something that truly did make her smile, as it was the sight of her dreamy husband fast asleep in front of her with nothing but the sheets on top of both of them, which was something that was incredible. And that was due to the fact that the two of them made incredible love with each other the night before. And when she says incredible love, she truly means it. Matt is just the best in bed, and she didn't know how much she truly missed the feeling of his body against hers; and his strong hand running around her body until last night when she got to experience it for the first time in a while. God, they went at it for hours; and she most certainly did make up for lost time with her husband. Heck, she wouldn't be opposed to them going for another round; but she isn't too sure whether her husband feels that way as he seems tired. And if he was tired, then she was more than okay with letting him sleep as it meant that she had time to get up and pack.
So, she decided to roll over in bed to get up. However, her husband wasn't letting her do that; and that was due to the fact that he had his hand on her thigh (which he was holding onto quite tightly at the moment). "Gabriela, get back in bed. I am not waking up without you in my arms, the first chance I get to do just that in three months; especially when I'm naked." Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, before getting back in bed with the man she loves. After which, she got close to him and cuddled up to him; while Matt wrapped his arm around her back and put his hand on it. Gabby then slipped her legs in between his, while also wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him softly. "Morning." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before putting his hand on her side and just holding her close to him. "Morning." Giving Gabby another kiss, Matt then proceeded to ask her a question that was completely hypothetical. "Did you really think that I would be okay with that?" Gabby smiled as Matt asked her that, cuddling up to her man.
She then felt him tug up the covers, smiling as he did just that. "So, what a nice surprise last night in the shower." Matt agreed with Gabby, as that was something that he loved. "Sorry about how I scared you." Gabby shook her head, as she was more than okay with that surprise. "It's okay baby. I was happy to have you in there with me, and to have you back in my arms." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, before stroking her back with his thumb. He then proceeded to kiss her softly as they both held each other close at the moment. Because at the end of the day, this is exactly what they both wanted right now; and it was also what Matt needed to do, as he owed Gabby an apology. "Listen, can we talk for a bit while we're here?" Gabby agreed with Matt. "Staying like this?" Matt agreed with Gabby. "Yes, because I love you." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before kissing him. "I love you too baby, forever." Matt took a breath as he heard Gabby say that. "Then why didn't you tell me?" Gabby was confused as she heard Matt say that.
After all, that was a question that came out of the blue. "What are you talking about?" Matt sighed. "Why didn't you tell me what Brett did to you?" Gabby sighed as she heard Matt say that. "How did you find out?" Matt sighed. "I finally read the reports from that day as I needed to log them into the system. I read that call. And I could tell that it was not good call." Gabby sighed as she looked at Matt. "Yeah, that's what happened before I cam home." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that. "Listen, I want to apologize for that at home again. Listen, I know what I said was wrong. And I have been trying to figure out an appropriate way to apologize." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that. "Yeah, nothing like saying that I can't have a baby." Matt sighed as he heard Gabby say that, while also watching as she pulled away from him, which is the last thing he wanted her to do. "Hey, can you stay?" Gabby sighed but agreed. "Gabby, I said that wrong. I really mean it when I say that, I said it wrong, and it wasn't what I mean." Gabby could just hear it.
Based on the way that he was talking to her, Gabby could just tell that there was something more to his words. More that he needed to talk to her about, and that she needed to stay put for. "Gabby, I didn't want to say this; as I hate bringing Hallie into our marriage, because our situations are different." Gabby then got closer to Matt and pout her hand on his face. "Gabby, I lost one woman I love already. And I lost her in a fire, that I responded to. I know what you told me, but in my mind I still could have saved her had we gotten to her sooner." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, just looking at him. "So, take it from this point of view. Gabby, you remember what caused you to have an aneurysm?" Gabby agreed with her husband. "Yeah, because I had the miscarriage." Matt sighed. "Babe. You say that it's just your risk, but it's not. I already lost the woman I love once, so I am putting that on the line. I am putting my heart on the line if I get you pregnant." Gabby looked down, agreeing with her husband as that was the truth.
"And I would also be the one that killed you if it went bad."
Gabby just looked at Matt as he said that. "Wait, what? You think that? Baby no…how can you…" Matt sighed. "Gabby. Me getting you pregnant in the first place created the aneurysm. The doctor said that there was a 10% chance that if I get you pregnant again, I would be killing my own wife and my child." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Yes, 10%." Matt agreed. "Gabby, Hallie died…when her then-fiancé was both a firefighter, and the one that responder to the fire at her clinic." Gabby just looked at Matt as he said that. "Babe, I couldn't save HER. You really think that I want to take a chance on my wife? While also possibly loosing my child? Our child, the baby that we would have?" Gabby sighed as she heard Matt say that, before getting closer to him and hugging him; and boy did she feel bad after hearing that. "Baby, I am so sorry that I didn't see it that way." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, before turning his head and bending down to kiss her neck; while also running his hand up and down her back as a way to make her feel quite happy.
Matt then proceeded to kiss her shoulder, as he whispered to her. "Gabby, I promise that we'll figure this out; okay? We'll figure it out to make sure that we can have a baby, while keeping you safe. I just can't loose you, okay?" Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, before telling something that he needs to know. "I agree to that. We'll figure it out, on one condition." Leaning back, Matt looked at his wife. "What's that?" Gabby smirked as she put her hand on his face. "If you get me pregnant, and the baby is viable; then you need to own up to not wearing a condom and let me be pregnant with the hopes of having a baby." Matt agreed with Gabby as he said that, before kissing her softly. "And if you do get pregnant AND the baby is viable, then you're done working. No ambulance, no OFI, and no Molly's." Gabby was surprised. "What?" Matt nodded. "Ambo is stress, OFI is bad vibes, and Molly's is late at night when you need rest. Stress is not going to be okay with me during the pregnancy." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, kissing him softly.
Taking things nice and slow with her loving husband, Gabby smirked due to the fact that she thinks she can work with that. "I think that's a good deal." Matt then added on. "Oh, and if you do give birth; you also tie your tubes, because I am not taking the risk again. Not when we might have a child." Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that. "God wouldn't that be nice. Us having a baby." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before wrapping his arms around her and tugging her body against his; he then leaned in and kissed the woman he loves softly. "Do we have a deal?" Gabby agreed with Matt. "No adoption. Throw out the pamphlets." Matt agreed. "Maybe all except one." Gabby looked at her husband. "Matt, I already said no adoption." Matt agreed. "You never said anything about surrogacy." Gabby looked at Matt when he said that. "Yeah, that was one of the pamphlets that you missed. Surrogacy." Gabby just looked at Matt. "Think about it. The baby would be ours; you just wouldn't be pregnant." Gabby bit her lip.
After all, that would be her dream come true. "I know, it's a lot to think about; but all you need to know, is that we have options. And I don't care if it costs a lot of money for surrogacy, I will pay anything if it means that we get to raise our children together." Gabby agreed with Matt, before kissing him softly. She then rolled over on top of him and just started to take things slow with him, while Matt put his hands on her back and did the same thing. "Matt, I think that's a great deal. And you're right. We need to raise our baby together, that's more important." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, smiling as he looked up into her eyes. "Remind me why we couldn't have this conversation in May?" Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, before kissing him once more; at the same time, Matt ran his hands up and down her back as they celebrated the fact that they were reunited. "Oh, and no more running. When I take you back to Chicago, you're mine for the rest of my life." Gabby agreed with Matt, as that was exactly what she wanted to be.
She wanted to be his for the rest of his life. After all, that was something that she always wanted. To be his wife, and the woman he loves. "I really mean it when I say that I'm sorry I ran baby." Matt agreed with Gabby as she said that, well aware that was the case. After which, Gabby laid down on his chest and just cuddled up to him. And boy was that comfortable, and exactly what he wanted on this first morning of the rest of their lives. But never in a million years could he have ever imagined the life that he and Gabby would have. All the changes that they would face together in the years to come, as well as the number of kids they would have. But right now, he was content in holding Gabby in his arms as he was quite comfortable here with Gabby on his chest. "I know you are Gabby; I know you're sorry. And now, we're back together for the rest of our lives. I promise." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she pushed herself up off his chest once more; before bending down and kissing him softly. "Want to get up?" Matt smiled at Gabby.
"Want me to go start the shower again?"
Gabby smiled. "I was thinking that we could go take a swim instead." Matt smiled. "Get me in the ocean for the first time." Gabby was shocked. "Excuse me?" Matt nodded. "I have never swum in the ocean before. The closest I've gotten, is Lake Michigan." Gabby was shocked as she heard Matt say that. "OK. Let's get up and out of bed, as we need to change that." Getting up out of bed, Gabby proceeded to grab her towel so that she could make her way to her dresser. "You bitch!" Turning around to look at her husband. "You walk away naked!" Gabby smirked as she heard Matt say that. "You know, I could swim naked too. Maybe a quick little love making session in the ocean." Matt smirked as he heard Gabby say that. "I have some in my bag. Brown." Walking over to his bag, Gabby smiled as she went ahead and opened his bag to give his swim trunks to him. After which, she went to find her bikini so that the two of them could have some breakfast ahead of them going to the beach, where they would take a swim with each other.
One last note before we continue: Originally, I was thinking that I would make this a multi-part chapter. But I have changed my mind due to the fact that I would rather leave my options open for other flashbacks from this time in their lives. So, next chapter is going to go back to Matt's birthday.
