Halcyon Green, the son of Apollo, cursed with the Gift of Prophecy. 'But why is it a curse?' One may ask. Well Halcyon is the foremost expert on the subject. From the day he was born, Halcyon saw the futures of all those around him, but on the advice of his father, he kept the predictions to himself.

But one day, he saw the future of a little girl, who was fated to die. Perhaps it's the inherent goodness that exists in demigods, or Halcyon's own moral compass, but he saved the girl's life, and in doing so, brought the wrath of Olympus onto him. His own father trapped him in Halcyon's own childhood home, and gave him monstrous guards known as leucrotae, forced to be bait to lure poor demigods, to watch them become food to the monsters. He had blood on his hands, even if he did it for his own survival.

And it turns out that he's my brother, further confirmed by the completion of the Who's Your Daddy quest. And therefore, my father is Apollo. Y'know, I don't know what to feel about that. He's definitely not the worst Olympian to be the child of. Apart from Halcyon, he was pretty chill with his children. But in a strange way, I was kinda disappointed that it wasn't one of the Big Three. Even if it would've been bad for me in the long run.

"Surprised, I see" Halcyon continued, right after revealing he was my half-brother, "But I can recognise a fellow child of Apollo from a mile away. Especially since you look so much like him." When he said that last sentence, I could see the pain behind his eyes. Was I some sort of spitting image of Apollo, albeit in a younger form? It would make sense since I didn't have a known mother. Hmm… I should ask Apollo about my mother if I get the chance. This body had to come from somewhere, right?

Thalia held her spear, and pointed it towards Halcyon, "What did you mean by us being brought here to die?" And so Hal began to explain his story to Thalia and Luke, with all its tragic details. I, on the other hand, decided to take the time to look at the rewards I got from completing the Who's Your Daddy? quest.

Quest Complete!

Who's Your Daddy?

The System has randomly assigned you a Godly Parent. Find out who it is before you reach Camp Halfblood

Objective: Find out who you Godly Parent is

Rewards: EXP, Child of Apollo Skill Collection, 15 Stat Points, Mystery Box

You have levelled up (10 - 12)!

Hmm… Not the best rewards at first glance, but I suppose looks can be deceiving. System, what exactly is a skill collection?

A Skill Collection is an item which contains a group of skills that are put together due to their relationship with the name of the skill collection. For example, lightning and wind manipulation may go under a Zeus Skill Collection due to their relation to the god. Another example would be Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and Conqueror's Haki, going under the One Piece Skill Collection, due to them all being from the anime known as One Piece.

Interesting. Makes sense. It's just a way to make things more condensed or efficient. Perhaps it means that the System has all these skills stored in a database or pocket dimension somewhere. Though I wonder what's inside the Child of Apollo Skill Collection. I opened my Inventory and touched the Skill Collection box, and suddenly a barrage of notifications appeared.

You have gained the Musician Skill (Level 25)!

You have gained the Archery Skill (Level 15)!

You have gained the Vitakinesis Skill (Level 10)!

You have gained the Photokinesis Skill (Level 15)!

You have gained the Photomancy Skill (Level 5)!

You have gained the Fire Resistance Skill (Level 25)!

You have gained the Photokinesis Immunity Skill (Level MAX)!*

You have gained Photomancy Immunity Skill(Level MAX)!*

You have gained the Lie Detection Skill (Level 5)!

You have gained the Curse of Rhymes Spell (Level 1)!

You have gained the title Child of Apollo!

Oh wow. That is indeed a lot. But it made sense considering my father is literally a god. Well, I doubt the Musician or Archery skills would be of much use to me. No offence to archer's, but after the rush I got from fighting the Hydra, I was definitely a close range fighter. But the Musician skill could still be fun though, since I was never musically inclined in my previous life.

Vitakinesis essentially gave me the ability to control a person's health, which includes healing them, or worsening their health with diseases or simple sicknesses. It could be pretty powerful in the long run. By the looks of it, the skill didn't actually give me a spell to heal, but merely gave me the ability. I would have to try and discover how to use Vitakinesis to heal in my spare time.

The same went for Photokinesis. The skill gave me the ability to manipulate light to my will, meaning soon I'd have to make an attack that uses light. The fascinating thing about it was that Photomancy and Photokinesis were two separate things. Just like Pyromancy and Pyrokinesis.

You see Photokinesis was very simple. It allowed me to control light, and make it into a physically seen element at its purest form. But Photomancy was different, as it was more esoteric. Photomancy, and other 'mancy'-type skills leaned far more into the conceptual part of the element they were based on, and are far more like traditional magic spells you'd see in fantasy settings. Like something from the Dragon Age series. Photomancy, for example, had a lot of basis on healing and holy magic, since that is what light is often associated with, whereas Umbramancy used stealth or death magic.

Both Photokinesis and Photomancy were powerful, and each had their own benefits. I wonder how powerful I could be if I were to use them both.

Along with the magic skills, I also got resistance and immunity. Fire Resistance was a very good resistance to have, though I wonder how I would increase its level. Hmm… I still have that lighter I stole from the farmhouse. Both of my immunity skills were maxed out which was very odd, since even Percy Jackson could take some damage from water or earth based attacks.

However, there were asterisks beside both of them. Upon opening them, I found out that there were certain limitations on my immunity. If the photokinesis or photomancy spell is cast by someone who is entwined with the concept of light, then my immunity is essentially null and void. For example, my father, Apollo, would be able to bypass my immunity if he used a light based attack, however, someone like Admiral Kizaru from One Piece, wouldn't be able to hurt me at all if he used a light attack. I wonder if a relatively weak monster could hurt me with a light attack if it was born from light. A theory to test another time, I suppose.

So all in all, a pretty good pair of skills.

The last two skills were interesting as well. The Curse of Rhymes Spell, which forced the victim to speak only in rhymes, didn't seem like something useful in a fight, but it would be hilarious to use on someone as a prank. Hmm… I wonder how good Thalia and Luke can rhyme?

And Lie Detection was extremely useful. It was the closest thing I had to mind reading, and had a lot of potential in the future. Although, it only works if the person knows they're lying, so I can't use it as an easy way to find the secrets of the universe.

I also got a title from the collection as well.

Title: Child of Apollo
Description: Grants the wielder of title +50% damage when using a bow, +25% light damage, +35% Willpower.

Do you wish to equip this title?

Well… the buffs are pretty good. Plus the only real benefit of Wolfslayer is its increased damage against canines… Wait! System, do the leucrotae count as canine opponents?

After a scan of their biology, it has been deemed that they are canine enough for your Wolfslayer title to take effect.

Alright then, I'll keep the Wolfslayer title for now. Hey, didn't I also get a mystery box? Perhaps I should-

Unfortunately, I was stuck out of my thoughts by a chop to my head. Rubbing the stinging area that had been hit, I looked towards everyone in the room. Thalia, who was the one that had hit me, had a very annoyed expression on her face, whereas Luke was looking at Halcyon with pity and righteous fury.

"Gill, were you listening to a single word that Hal said?" Thalia berated me, with visible annoyance on her face. Unlike Luke, she glanced at Hal with disgust, probably because of how many demigods he had killed.

"Yes, yes. Hal got cursed by Apollo, and now he's in this prison, forced to be bait for innocent demigods for the rest of his life. Yes, I know. However, I'm still dealing with the fact that I actually know who my father is" Yeah, that got her to shut up. Honestly, I was just annoyed that she hit me. My 8-year-old skull can't deal with the force of Zeus's child.

"Hal, you need to fight back!" Luke argued to the old man, "You didn't deserve this. Break out. Kill the monsters. We'll help you." Hal shook his head in denial, much to the dismay of Luke. The man had long since given up.

"We took down a Hydra yesterday, Hal" I said, causing mild surprise in my elderly half-brother, "Oh, and Thalia is a daughter of Zeus. She's pretty powerful."

"I'm afraid it's not that simple'' Hal, or rather the leucroata, sighed. "None of us can leave. Fighting the monsters is hopeless. They can't be hurt by any metal known to man or god." The elderly man got up from his seat and drew a celestial bronze dagger that was sheathed next to his belt, approaching the bars that separated us from the leucroata. Fascinating. Annabeth's future weapon.

He thrusted the dagger through the bars, and straight to the monster's head, yet instead of plunging into the monster, the blade bounced off, not leaving a scratch on leucroata. Annoyed, the chimaera kicked the bars with its hooves, as if warning Hal to not annoy it. "See?" The monster spoke on behalf of Hal, "It's pointless."

"So what? You'll continue to cower like a child and wither away in this prison?" I argued, much to Hal's shock. I don't think he was expecting to be berated by an 8-year-old. "You seem to have forgotten that you're a demigod. Just like Heracles, Perseus, and Theseus. Be braver, and actually live a life. The past few decades? You didn't live. You were just a husk. So maybe you should fight back for once."

Halcyon looked at me. I could see my words had actually gone to his head. "I-... Perhaps you are right, little brother" Wow. Just had to add in the 'little'. Didn't he? "But how would we even get out?"

"Oh that's easy." I answered, as I began to walk to leucroata behind the bars. I opened my palm, and a fireball popped up. I could feel everyone's gazes on me, and I could see a bit of fear in leucrota's eyes. It probably didn't know what I was doing, but instinctively knew there was something wrong.

Through the bars, I threw the fire at the monster, and just like I had thought, the fire burned the monster as it let out a cry of pain. It clearly hadn't done enough to kill it, but I'd done a decent amount of damage to the creature. Looking at its stat sheet, I had only done about 10% of its health.

Description: The leucrota are a species of swift beast that originate from Indian mythology and cannot be hurt by any metal. It has the ability to mimic the voices of humans around it. This particular leucrota is an average member of its species.

"As you can see, I have more than one brain cell" I joked to the rest of the room, whilst Hal looked at me as if I had grown a pair of wings. I'm kinda surprised that no one used an element based attack. I know attacks like those are rare amongst demigods, but surely one must've met their end here. Though I suppose they probably were inexperienced with their powers or simply unaware. I need to remember that not everyone is as powerful as Thalia.

Fun note, it seems that my Fireball skill had also levelled up with that attack. Hopefully it'll do more damage against the leucrotae.

"You… can create fire?" Hal questioned, still shocked beyond recognition, "It's theoretically possible for a child of Apollo to control fire, but I've never heard one ever doing it. At most we tend to do light manipulation."

"I'm pretty sure I can do that too, but that's a story for another time" I said, waving his confusion off, "But anyway, now do you believe us? You finally have a chance of escaping, but we need your help." I gave him a look of sincerity, pleading for his help.

"I-... Very well. I'll help you. I've had enough of this life" Halcyon answered, standing up straighter than he had a few seconds ago. It seems that his new found determination had given him some backbone.

I didn't really need to show him I could hurt the monsters. Nor did I have to give him hope. Thalia and Luke could've done it by themselves. But Halcyon reminded me of myself from my previous life. A coward, who couldn't even take their own life, but if given the chance, he would rise to the occasion. And so I gave him that opportunity, just as the System had done for me. I just hope he doesn't disappoint me.

Quest added!

Changing Fate: Halcyon Green

Halcyon Green, son of Apollo, and cursed with the gift of prophecy. In the books, he had died a hero's death, giving his life so that Thalia and Luke could live. But you have the ability to change that.

Objective: Save Halcyon from his unfortunate fate

Rewards: EXP, ?, ?

I saw the Quest notification from the corner of my eye. I sort of expected it, though at least it would be far easier than the quest I got for Luke. I already had a vague plan to save Hal, and thankfully I had most of the day to work on it.

I also noticed that Thalia was giving me a weird look. It was jealousy if I had to describe it. Was she seriously still jealous over my fire? Or was it my control over my power? She knew she could destroy me easily, right?

Regardless, I looked at Halcyon and asked him, "By the way, the reason we came here was because of a magic goat that's friends with Zeus. Do you have a clue as to why it'd want us to come here?" I saw how Thalia looked at my Guardian Shield, so it's time to get her shield for her.

Halcyon pondered for a moment, before giving an unsure answer, "The other demigods were attracted to the mansion because of the treasure. I assumed you were, too." He guided us to a closet in the room, where inside lay broken equipment like swords and armour. But behind all of those was a grey metal safe that was built into the floor.

"The treasure is inside there?" Thalia asked, still looking at the safe. Halcyon nodded in confirmation, so Thalia turned to Luke, "Can you get into it? Please?" Was she giving Luke puppy eyes? Man, that looked weird on her. But it seemed Luke couldn't resist.

Luke walked to the safe, putting his hand on it. A scowl appeared on his face, "Whatever's in here seems pretty important. There's a lot of different mechanisms in here."

"Do you think you can open it?" I ask, despite knowing the answer.

Luke sighs, "Yeah, probably. But there's a small problem. As soon as I hit the third number in the combination, a gas canister will break. The whole room will be filled with gas. I can disable it but…" He looked at the safe nervously, as if it'd explode any second.

"Please Luke! This could be what we need to escape'' Thalia pleaded with him, which was clearly getting through to him. By the gods this boy had one heck of a crush. I mean, I ship it, but I just hope he acts upon his crush when both him and Thalia are adults.

"You can do it Luke. We trust you" I encouraged the fellow blonde. I wasn't actually sure if I trusted Luke or not. I liked the kid, but I still couldn't shake off that he'd one day become the General of Kronos without my interference.

"I… Fine." Luke relented, turning his focus to the safe, "You should all go to the bathroom and put a wet towel over your faces. It should help you". Despite knowing he would succeed, I followed his order, and so did Hal and Thalia.

As we waited in the bathroom, I noticed Thalia peering out of the door to see what Luke was doing with baited breath. I could stop her, but instead I decided to look as well, and see how a son of Hermes cracks a safe.

It was odd. His actions seemed normal, he was just turning the combination wheel. But the way he did it was strange. It was like he was creating art. Every move was calculated and perfect. Every twist of his wrist, every finger movement, every breath he made. All calculated. And I doubt he knew that he was even doing it.

And quickly enough he opened the safe, making sure not to touch the handle. And slowly, he put his hands inside and lifted a glass canister full of a vibrant green grass. He had done it. I knew he'd do it, but just watching Luke made me tense.

We rushed to him, and Thalia practically jumped on him, giving him a peck on the cheek. It was pretty funny to see the normally serious looking boy become so flustered. "You are so good" Thalia complimented as she got off of the poor kid.

We looked inside the safe, and a look of disappointment crawled upon the two teens' faces. "It's… just a bracelet?" Luke questioned, confused. Thalia picked it up and put it around her wrist.

Despite moving her arm around like a maniac, nothing happened. "What is this stupid thing meant to do!" She shouted, "Why the hell would Amaltheia bring us here for nothing"

After another minute of her waving her hand around, I decided to show her mercy, "You have to say it's name" I tell her, "It's Aegis"

"...Aegis!" She shouted, and suddenly the bracelet expanded, flattening into a wide bronze disc, curving at the edges to become a shield. On the front of it was a monstrously hideous face that radiated the very essence of fright.

Gamer's Mind has stopped the effects of Aegis (Replica)!

Ah, I forgot about that skill. Well, that's nice, I didn't really intend to get the living daylights frightened out of me. Regardless, I'm sure that Gamer's Mind will be extremely useful in the future, since gods and monsters simply loved that mental intrusions.

"Oh shit!" Thalia swore, looking at the shield in awe, "It looks awesome!" I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw that Luke had staggered back a bit, and his face had gone pale. Hal had stood behind Thalia, so he didn't get affected by the shield.

"Hey, Thalia, maybe you should put away your shield" I suggest, nodding towards Luke.

Seeing the state that the shield had put Luke in, Thalia made it turn back into its bracelet form by saying "Aegis!" Then she turned to me with annoyance in her eyes, "Wait a minute… You knew that would activate the shield!" I nodded, unabashedly, "Then why did you let me wave my arm around like an idiot"

"I haven't had any real entertainment in days" I chuckled, only to get a karate chop to the head as a response. Fucking hell did that hurt. Damn goth girl.
Rubbing the pain on my head, I turned to Hal, who had been looking at us with a mixture of fascination, concern, and amusement, and asked "Hal, there's another thing we need from you. We need you to read our futures."

Hal immediately tensed up, "I- I don't know…" He (or rather the leucrota) said, "What if Apollo finds out? What if Zeus-" However I interrupted the old man.

"No more what if's, Hal." I countered, "Live your life in the moment, besides, Apollo can't punish you any worse than he already has" I stole the last line from Hal, which was what he had said in the book.

"You're right" Hal sighed, "Which of you shall I do first?" We all looked at one another, before Thalia stepped forward. I could see her body was stiff, and her breathing had almost stilled. She was nervous, and rightly so. "Very well, give me your hand" Thalia slowly gave her hand to Hal, and the elderly man held it with his own. He closed his eyes and concentrated, a small furrow in his eyebrow appearing.

"You… will survive this day" Hal revealed, causing a sigh of relief in Thalia and Luke, though I already knew she would, "But your future is a tough one, one of struggles and hardships. An unknown burden sits upon your back like the sky does for Atlas. Your destiny has many paths, but should you put your trust in your comrades, your end will be a joyful one. The moon will be your saving grace, and one day you will find the Grace you had once lost."

Thalia's breath hitched, her skin pale, "That… That's impossible. You're lying, you've got to be wrong. He's gone." Huh, she's pretty smart to have figured out that Hal was talking about Jason in the last sentence, but her Intelligence stat was pretty good.

"I'm sorry but I'm not lying." Halcyon shook his head, "It is weird, however. Usually my visions are not as vague as they are. They're more defined, clear."

Thalia steps back from Hal, hands still shaking. She was most likely thinking of her brother, Jason, wondering how he was alive. Little did she know that the boy was at Camp Jupiter, the other side of the country, training with the Romans.

Luke and I shared a look, before the tall blonde stepped forwards to Hal. Just like with Thalia, Hal took Luke's hands into his palm, and concentrated once more.

"You too will survive today" Hal says, but Luke did not breathe out relief, instead he hardened himself for what the Son of Apollo would say, "A white raven will guide your path, heed its words or meet a horrible fate. I see fire. But it can be a flame of revenge or one of justice. A traitor or a hero, a great choice is in the palm of your hands. And your life will be defined by sacrifice."

Luke's face turned into horror, and instead of the older, serious teen he liked portraying himself as, at this moment, he was a scared child. Perhaps he had a slight clue as to what Hal was talking about, or maybe he didn't like what was implied.

I, however, was just as surprised. In the books, Hal's visions were nothing like this. Nowhere near as… specific. Was this my fault? Had I already made ripples in the timeline? I suppose I did help fight that Hydra, but that can't have been that big of a deal! I didn't even get a quest for it!

Of course! Quest! I had gotten a quest to make sure Luke doesn't end up like he did in the books! That must be it, along with my campfire chat with him. That must've caused a butterfly effect.

However, Hal's words still confused me a bit. In Thalia's future, Hal had said that her destiny had many paths, yet didn't mention anything about her being a tree. Could that mean there'd be a way to stop her from becoming a tree? Would I have a way to save her?

And then the fact that Hal had said a white raven would help Luke. What the fuck is a white raven? Do those even exist? How would it help Luke at all? Fuck's sake. Here I was hoping I could coast past most of this with my knowledge of the future. And suddenly, a god's damned unknown variable scoots on by!

"What the hell is wrong with you!" Thalia shouts at Hal, "Is this what you do? Lure demigods here and then torture them with lies? Do you enjoy this?" Hal's face turned dark, and for the first time, we saw anger cross his face.

"ENOUGH!" I shout at Thalia, glaring at her. I'm surprised everyone didn't laugh at the 8-year-old shouting. Hell, even I was tempted by my high-pitched command, "Thalia, Hal doesn't choose what he sees. Only the Fates. Got a problem with the messenger? Take it up with the old ladies" I could see Hal paling at me casually making fun of the Three Fates, one of the most powerful entities in Greek Mythology. Thalia also calmed down, a look of shame on her face as she realised that she had lashed out at Hal without a good reason.

"And anyway, it could be worse" Of course, all three other people in the room disagreed. "No seriously! Have you ever heard of Oedipus?" It was very funny to watch Halcyon's face turn into disgust. I'm pretty sure that the old man would throw up any second now if he had a full stomach. I however, had a shit-eating grin on me as I began to kindly teach the clueless Thalia and Luke.

"Well, when Oedipus was born, his parents heard a prophecy that their son would kill his father, take his father's throne, and marry his mother. So naturally his parents sent him to the mountains to die, but the servant they had used to leave the baby in the mountains took pity on Oedipus and gave the boy to another king and queen so they raised Oedipus as their own. When Oedipus was older and learned of the prophecy, he left his adoptive parents, not knowing they weren't his biological ones. On the road he met an old man and killed him in an argument and when he reached the city he was born in, Thebes, he learned that the King had recently been killed"

"Wait… Was that king-"

"His father? Yes" I answered, as Thalia began to turn green as she realised what was going to happen in the story, "Oedipus found out that Thebes was being terrorised by a sphinx, so like every Greek hero, he defeated it. The city rewarded the hero by making him the king and giving him the king's widow's hand in marriage. Well, long story short, the widow found out she married her son, so she hung herself, and Oedipus, well he blinded himself out of shame." By the time I had revealed Oedipus's fate, Thalia and Luke had rushed to the toilet, and I could hear the sound of them throwing up.

"Was that really necessary, brother?" Halcyon asked, sighing.

"Maybe" I shrugged, "But look at the results. There's no more tension in the room and I know how to make Luke and Thalia sick whenever I want. Plus, maybe they'll understand that their future isn't as bad as it could be"

Hal gave me an analytical stare, as if trying to dissect me with his eyes. "You… You are a very strange child. You are 8 right?" I nod to that question, wondering whether I had been found out, "You can see the future, can't you? Like me?"

Oh shit. Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. By the gods, he was so close to finding my little secret! Should I have acted more childish? But that was so damn annoying to do. It was frankly mind numbing. This is my second life! Like hell I'm gonna spend a chunk of it acting dumb.

But still, whilst Hal had been on the right track, he'd ended up with the wrong result. Maybe I could use that to ward him away from finding out the truth.

"I… I can." I confirm with false nervousness, "I see parts of it, but the furthest I've seen is 2009" Despite there not being any definitive timeline for the Percy Jackson series, you could find out the years each book take place in by using the year Percy was born (1993), and the Percy's age during the book. Currently, I was in 2001.

"You've been actively changing the future, haven't you?" He whispers in a scared voice, "Despite knowing the consequences, you play with the threads of the Fates?" The man looked almost traumatised, which was pretty understandable.

"Well, I kind of think the Fates want me to make changes" I answer him, trying not to laugh at his incredulous look, "No, I'm serious. In all of my visions, I'm not in a single one of them. It's as if I don't exist in them"

"You're… not suggesting that-"

"I think I am seeing a future where I don't exist. Meaning the Fates have given me power to change the future." I interrupt. Frankly, if he believed what I was saying, then he really must've gone insane. Although, I guess it was somewhat possible.

"That… That's insane." He gave me a look of what I think is jealousy. Perhaps it was because I was actively changing the future, whilst he was jailed for decades because he did it once. It was kind of unfair when I thought about it, "I… can I look at your future?"

"Sure" I shrug, giving him my hands. Frankly, I was a bit curious as well. How would I end up in a decade? Would I become someone worth a damn? Or would history repeat itself, and I become just like before, a pathetic sack of shit?

Halcyon closes his eyes, concentrating on my hands, and when he opens them, an expression of confusion, concern, and most of all, fear,"I… I see nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all".

What did that mean? Was I going to die today? That can't be right? Can it? My idea for how to get Halcyon out of this alive was very risky, but I didn't think it might kill me. Would something go wrong?

"I- I don't feel so good…" Halcyon says, has began to fall over.

I attempted to catch him, but as soon as he was halfway to the ground, he immediately got up, almost unnaturally. And then I noticed… He wasn't touching the ground. He opened his eyes and I saw them glowing and sickly green.

And then he opened his mouth, and a voice not his own spoke.

"Gilgamesh Ashford, Son of the Sun." He… or rather she, if we go by the voice, says, "I, Clotho wish to talk on the behalf of my sisters."

Oh.

Oh no.
