Anyway thank you all for waiting and I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Valkyries and Goddesses
While Rota and Andrew overlooked the view of Olympus, below in a courtyard, Sigrun and Thor strolled deep in talks about Gods and their powers. Ever since arriving at Olympus the Son of Odin had wondered where a God's strength comes from and lucky for him, Sigrun had the answers.
"So a God's strength lies in gathering the thoughts and beliefs of humans?"
"Correct," Sigrun said, "The more beliefs a God or Goddess has the stronger they become. It's why Shiva, Indra, and other Hindu Gods are the highest on the Top Ten."
"How many humans still believe in us?"
Sigrun shrugged her shoulders. "Who knows? Before Christianity came along all of Germany and Scandinavia worshipped us. Out of all the Gods of our Pantheon, you and the Original Thor, are the most worshipped among humans. That's also where some of his strength comes from." Sigrun continued, "The belief from humans was a power boost to his already immense strength. Those who fought alongside him say he was an unstoppable force. Being half Jotun does have its perks."
Thor looked at his hands and clenched them. Could he become the Strongest Warrior of Asgard? He didn't have the strength and power of the Original Thor nor lift the replica Mjolnir yet. Last week he had tried to lift the mighty hammer but it wouldn't budge. It frustrated him that despite all the training he went through he still didn't have the strength to wield it. Would it take weeks, months, years, or even centuries to wield the hammer?
No! He would not let that prevent him from obtaining Mjolnir. If he was going to become the Strongest Warrior and lift the hammer, he would need to double down on his training, and waiting to return to Asgard wouldn't make him stronger.
"Sigrun, will you spar with me?"
The Emerald Valkyrie looked surprised by his sudden request. Glad to see he wanted to keep his skills sharp this however was not the time for it. They were on a diplomatic mission to ensure Asgard and Olympus form an alliance. Still, Hera did say they were free to do certain things so sparring shouldn't be a problem.
"I see no harm in doing so. However, I can make it more interesting." She said as if reading his mind. "How about you face me and Rossweisse. Do you remember me saying we were the strongest Valkyrie team before she became Odin's bodyguard? Why not we spar and show you how strong we were."
Thor felt a muscle twitch as he thought of clashing weapons and exchanging spells with Sigrun and Rossweisse. It excited him, just like his fights against the Troll and Sif.
"However, if you want such a spar to happen you'll have to find her. Where she is I don't know."
"Then let's go find her. Maybe she can help with my problem."
"What problem?"
Thor scratched his head as a look of shame crossed his face, "I am still having issues casting spells. I can fly, teleport, infuse magic into weapons but still can't cast elemental spells, barriers, seals, or layer them. I have read those books she gave him and even though my magic has grown, I don't understand why I'm still having trouble with those particular skills? I'm hoping if we spar she can discover the mystery to this problem."
"Well, you still at least know how to infuse magic into your weapons. Your duel against Andrew showed that you have skill with a bow. Perhaps coating the tip of your arrows in magic can help if you need to fight foes at range."
"I can try that next time I use one. We'll cut through the orchard." Thor said and led the Valkyrie into it.
The Garden of Olympus was twice as big as the one back in Asgard. Hundreds of acres were filled with flowers, plants, and trees. There were no pathways to guide visitors but many stone benches and busts of the Gods and Goddesses could be seen spread out along the landscape. As they passed the trees Thor noticed Sigrun was looking at them in sadness. In the trees were large green and red apples. Why was she sad about apples?
"Would you like me to get you one?" He offered.
"What? Oh, no thank you. I'm not hungry. I was just remembering the stories Bryndhilr used to tell me about Idunn's apples."
"Idunn? She is the Goddess of Spring said to have an orchard of golden apples with the power to give the Aesir immortality." Thor said, remembering something from his education in the Church.
"Not immortality exactly. It had powers to not only heal any wounds, physical and magic but extend one's life span. It's how Odin and many of the other Aesir have lived so long. Keep in mind, a God and Goddess can die, either in battle or of old age, the latter however would take millennials. Some have speculated that Odin, God of the Bible, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades are the oldest Gods to live. Long ago, before I was born, the fields beyond the wall were filled with Idunn's apple trees. Rossweisse's grandmother and many others would go out and gather them. In that time the land beyond the wall was peaceful. Then he came…"
Thor could feel a sense of dread swell within him. He recalled his times walking on the wall and looking out onto the fields or riding through them on Tanngrisnir. They were full of life with grassy plains but did not see an orchard nor any golden apples anywhere. Something happened to make them lose those special fruits and he had a good idea what or rather who had taken them away.
"Surtr came and he destroyed all that land before the wall. There was no time to save any of the apples. Surtr's attack came so quickly we only had time to arm ourselves to meet him on the field. His scouring of the trees was a devastating blow to Asgard. Without Idunn's apples, the longevity and healing the Aesir had is lost. It was Surtr's attack that made Asgard a shadow of its former self."
"But not anymore." Thor reassured, and there was a gleam in his eye, "Asgard shall rise from that shadow and shine as a beacon of hope once more."
The red head's determination to restore Asgard brought a smile to the Valkyrie's lips. Having Thor back was a great boost in morale for the Asgardians. When it was declared that the Prince of Asgard had returned many were shocked by the news but welcomed him back while others were suspicious of this second God of Thunder. Despite the divide in opinions, none could diminish the accomplishments he has done for the kingdom.
And when Asgard is fully healed you shall become king and lead us into an age of peace.
"Thor, did you bring something appropriate for the talks?" Sigrun suddenly asked.
"I did."
"Then why still wear your armor? There is no need to be so well-armed."
"Mostly to stand on ceremony," Thor admitted with a shrug. His armor shimmered out of existence leaving him in a teal blazer, a white dress shirt, gray trousers, and black dress shoes.
"I couldn't find aqua so I thought teal could work as something to remind me of Rose." Said Thor with a shy smile.
He wanted to wear something that reminds him of her? Thor you sly dog, do you have feelings for her? Sigrun thought as she asked aloud, "Where and when did you get that?
Thor smiled as he began the tale of how he obtained the clothes.
Yesterday evening
Thor was making his way to his chambers to prepare for the journey to Olympus tomorrow when the God of Light came strolling into the hall. The biological son of Freya had immediately spotted his brother and began to chat with him. Baldur was quite happy to hear where Thor was going and why.
"So you are going to Olympus for a peace talk. How exciting. It's a shame I can't come."
"Why not?"
"Well father never summoned me to join the negotiations and politics was never my thing. I'd only tag along to see the beauty of Olympus. Yet it does surprise me he didn't send Vidar."
"Has Vidar done talks like this before?"
"Oh yeah, loads of times." Said Baldur, "Even before Surtr attacked he always knew what to say to settle a dispute peacefully or reach an agreement on meetings. Yet despite such skills in politics he is, unfortunately, the most casual and perverted. Yes, I am afraid our big brother is just like father; powerful, wise, and perverted. He even has a harem."
Thor nearly tripped at those words. He could hardly believe what he heard. His oldest brother has a harem? He had seen many girls swarming the God of Vengeance but never imagined they were in a harem.
"A harem…" The younger God repeated in disbelief.
"Yes, dear Thor, a harem. I don't know how Vidar does it? It's like they're naturally attracted to him or he's charming to every girl he meets. Makes me wonder why I was nicknamed the God of Beauty and not him?"
"I heard it was because you are the daughter of Freya, the most beautiful woman in all the realms."
Baldur laughed at Thor's answer, he had not laughed this much since before Surtr attacked. Oh, how he missed spending time with his eldest brother. Now, he could make new memories with the new Thor, his younger brother.
"Was Odin like this in his youth?"
"From the stories, mother told, yes. However, this was long ago when he was still a teenager and a prince, after he married mother his ideas of a harem faded away. Do not mistake him, he is a pervert towards women, yes, but his love for mother is unyielding. He would never cheat on her."
"And will Vidar be like that if he marries and becomes Allfather?"
"That is correct." Baldur said with a smile, "Some have made jokes saying the title of Allfather was for all the son's father had through the centuries."
"Odin had sons before us? I thought you, me, and Vidar was his only sons?"
"You would think that but that's incorrect. Remember I was conceived by mother and father. You, Vidar, and his sons before us were all born of separate mothers. Jotuns he slept with before his marriage."
"And who were they?" Thor asked, intrigued by who the other Sons of Odin were since he never knew about this during his days as a test subject.
"Tyr, Hodr, and Vali. Tyr was a ferocious warrior but a justly man. Some called him the God of War for the skills he had. Funny enough, Tyr championed order and justice instead of war and destruction."
"What happened to him?"
"Well, just like Hodr and Vali, he died. Hodr died after being blinded and tortured to death by Jotuns, Vali was killed by a dragon, and Tyr was slain by Gram. Not the sword but the wolf it was named after. Before Hel became ruler of Helheim a monstrous wolf called Gram stalked the frozen wasteland eating the souls who went there. When Hel became ruler of Helheim, Loki wanted the beast slain so that it may not attack his daughter. Tyr took it upon himself to do the deed and succeeded but died in the process."
Thor nodded but could feel the pain swelling in his chest. So all those statues around Asgard were to commemorate the dead. Poor Odin, despite losing so many sons he never let grief consume him in his duties as king. Although he detested his perverted antics, he was nevertheless grateful for the king adopting him. Maybe after he returned from Olympus he would try to spend some time with him.
Speaking of Olympus he had to prepare his belongings since he would set out tomorrow.
"I should prepare for the journey."
"That you should. However, do you have anything suitable for the talks?"
"I got my armor."
"Hmm. That won't do, little brother. Nor will the clothes you're wearing now. You need something more suitable. Like a suit or robes and I know just the place to go to get what you need."
Twenty minutes later Thor was inside a clothing store with Baldur in search of something professional to wear at the Olympus talks. The God of Light said he would cover the bill for the suit Thor would choose, along with any other clothing that he liked. The prices were not cheap but the Aesir-Vanir hybrid saw it as not a problem and soon he and his little brother were leaving the store with bags full of clothes from professional to casual, all with a modern style to them.
"You've been living with us for weeks and not once did anyone suggest you go buy some new clothing. I swear I've seen you wear that purple tunic and black pants every day."
Thor rolled his eyes. He knew Baldur was joking since he had seen him wearing the other clothes in his closet. Nevertheless, the redhead was thankful for his big brother's help. Despite the fact that he, his whole family, and others still dressed in garments of old, he had to start wearing clothes of the modern-day more often, especially on Midgard to blend with the humans.
"Now you have what you need for the talks and a better sense of fashion to catch the lady's eyes." Said Baldur with a cheeky wink.
Thor blushed at his brother's words. Hopefully, the Fates would be kind and not have the girls of Valhalla chase him around the academy again.
Present time
"After helping me find this we bid farewell and I prepared for today."
That was very kind of Baldur to do. Even the warriors of Asgard dress appropriately for important talks. Like the buildings of Asgard, the fashion of the Asgardians was a mix between modern and medieval.
"I am confident the talks will succeed. However, knowing Odin he would suggest putting brothels in Olympus." Thor said with a snort.
Sigrun cringed visibly at the idea, it would be very embarrassing to witness but knowing Zeus he would gladly accept it. She remembered the Asgardians flocking to Grigori strip clubs. Despite the lewd plan it was nevertheless working to fill Asgard's coffers with the money needed to pay Nidavellir for the rebuilding of the kingdom. Before any payments could be made the fire to lift the forges was needed and she, like Thor, knew how to solve that problem. However that could wait, they had to find Rossweisse.
"Hey, Sigrun do you think - what was that!?"
His train of thought was interrupted when he heard rustling in the bushes nearby followed by giggling. Blue eyes narrowed. Someone had been snooping on their conversation and heard everything. Like a bolt of thunder, he leaped toward the laughing bush and heard a yelp as he crashed into something soft.
The Son of Odin fell out of the bushes and onto a woman of great beauty. She seemed to be a year or two older than him with long black hair tied in a ponytail reaching to the middle of her back held by gold metal scrunchie and two long bangs ending above her chest. Her face was clean of blemish and full of surprise as ruby red eyes stared up at deep blue. Her attire was a long black dress that covered only her body leaving her arms, legs, shoulders, and a great amount of cleavage to be exposed and gold bracelets one on each wrist and a second secured on her upper left arm. Around her shoulders were a purple sash and a golden belt secured on her waist.
"Who are you and why did you spy on us?" He demanded.
"Wow. If you're this rough tackling me how rough are you beneath the sheets?"
Thor's entire face went pink. He was not expecting to hear that as an answer. Just who was this girl to say such a question?
"I wonder what Rose would think if she knew what you were doing."
Thor looked up to see Sigrun standing over him, a cheeky grin etched upon her face. A knee between spread legs and gripping a wrist tightly was the sign of a suggestive position. Hastily he let go of the girl and scrambled to his feet.
"Who is she?"
"A snooper by the sound of it. She was hiding in this bush." Thor answered the Valkyrie with a glare towards the girl who didn't seem bothered by his rough handling of her.
"Well to answer your first question. Yes, I was spying but not on you. I was waiting for someone else and my excitement was getting the better of me." Said the girl as she got to her feet and dusted herself off.
Before Thor could ask who it was the sound of shouting could be heard. Thor saw in the distance a man and woman arguing beneath a tree. The man was confused while the woman had a look of undesirable fury.
"Agafya whoever told you this is incorrect! I was never in your room nor stole your flute!"
"Kassandra saw you sneaking out of my chambers, Galo! I want my ring back!"
"I didn't take it! I don't even know what it looks like !?"
Thor glanced at the red-eyed girl who was giggling again. Noticing a ring on her finger, a ring he realized Agafya had just described, a gold band with ancient writing on it and a large green gem. She was the thief, why did she do it he would find out. Grabbing her wrist he held her hand high and called to the servants. Hearing his voice they approached the Thunder God and upon seeing the black-haired girl bowed.
"M-my Lady! I…I did not know it was you who stole the ring. A thousand apologies." Agafya said quickly.
"Your apology is unnecessary. You know I love causing chaos."
Thor glanced at the dark-haired girl. She said she loved causing chaos and there was only one Goddess in the Greek Pantheon who held the title of Chaos.
"Your Eris. Daughter of Zeus."
Eris grinned, "That's right and you are Thor. Son of Odin. God of Thunder."
"T-Thor!?" Galo yelped and bowed again to the Aesir, "We have heard the tales of your great deeds, Lord Thor. Welcome to Olympus! We are honored to serve you. I am Galo and this is Agafya."
"How do you do?" Agafya said bowing as well.
"Uhm thanks. Y-you really don't need to be so formal with-"
"We are very grateful to have you at our service." Sigrun interrupted and returned the bow, "I am Sigrun. A Valkyrie and representative from Asgard."
Wonder came into the Goddess's eyes, "A Valkyrie? I have heard of your kind before but never thought I'd be meeting one face to face."
"There are many more of us. Perhaps you will see them around Olympus or the meeting."
"Which reminds me. We must go and prepare the feast for tonight. I do hope to speak again, Lord Thor."
Agafya and Galo bowed again and hurried off.
"So," Said Eris while eyeing Thor up and down, "what's the God of Thunder doing this far south of Asgard? I thought you'd be slaying giants? That is one of your titles, is it not, Giant Slayer?"
Giant Slayer? She must be talking about the Jotun's, the original Thor killed. He, however, had never faced any Jotuns yet, in fact the only Jotun he knew was Vandil. He had also never been to Jotunheim or the other Realms save Midgard and Nidavellir. Perhaps Sigrun's last mission brought peace to the Realm which prevented him from going. Nevertheless, he hoped to see the Elfs and Jotuns someday, even for just a visit.
"We are here to ensure Asgard and Olympus join together for peace," Thor answered.
"Ah. So you aren't just brute force and power. You do have your father's voice of reason."
And not his perverted ideas thankfully, Thor thought. Why did she keep answering for him? He said he could speak for himself. Despite her poor treatment by Odin, she took this bodyguard job very seriously.
"I hope once we are allies we will share our cultures like Vanaheim did with Asgard."
"Share our cultures?" Repeated Eris and there was a tone of curiosity in her voice, "No other Mythology has done such a thing. Is that wise of your king, your Allfather as you call him?"
"The Allfather is wise and wants to use that wisdom to make peace in the Supernatural World." Answered Sigrun.
"But there can never be true peace. It may prosper but chaos and war are always waiting to happen." Retorted the Goddess.
Thor couldn't deny what she said was true. Peace could happen but who's to say someone wants to cause trouble like this assassination plot Azazel mentioned? The other Faction's stayed out of each other's business to prevent wars and keep the peace, unlike humanity, who fought more wars than all the Supernatural wars combined. However Odin was set on seeing his goal reached, peace would happen and whatever trouble stood in its way he would beat it down.
"What are you doing here in the gardens?"
"We were going to find a friend to spar with."
"Well, it's been fun but I have somewhere to be. It's been really nice meeting you both. I hope to see you again." And with that Eris departed.
"So that was the Goddess of Chaos. I sure do pity the servants." Said Sigrun shaking her head.
Elsewhere
"It was a long and weary struggle but in the end, I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside."
Andrew listened with keen interest at the tale Rota told of her previous mission to Midgard, where she gave chase after a troll up the Alps after ceasing its attacks on a city. The young Valkyrie hunted it for two days until cornering it upon the frozen peaks and slaying it.
After their scenic view at the top of Olympus, Andrew offered to give her a tour of the kingdom. He was very knowledgeable in the Greek Mythology, from the strongest Gods to the weakest creatures, he knew it all and it fascinated Rota. It wasn't long before he began asking her questions, why she joined the Valkyries and what realms she had gone to.
"It was lucky of Heimdall to bring me back to Asgard before I froze to death. I wasn't expecting the pursuit to take me to mountains."
"But it did and now you have a fantastic tale to tell of it." Said, Andrew.
Rota smiled, after the revelation about the Einherjar, the two began to explore the kingdom he was devoted to. She was lucky he knew so much because she had no knowledge in Greek culture, save only the names of the Gods and Goddess of the Pantheon. Eventually, Andrew asked Rota how she became a Valkyrie and what she had last been doing before coming to Olympus.
"I am sure you will have many stories to share with your fellow Einherjar at Valhalla once you partake in more missions." She said.
"I intend to," Said Andrew, "when I was at Valhalla, I met some heroes of your people. Ragnar, Erik, and their children, and Rollo."
"And there are many more to meet and befriend in Valhalla. I do hope you stick to your word and give us a second chance."
Andrew nodded at her words. He would turn over a new leaf and open up to Asgard and if he must prove himself in battle to regain their trust as Sigrun said then so be it.
"Have you noticed something?"
"What?"
Rota merely waved her hand around the hallway they stood in. It was then he realized what she was talking about. When are the guards? Did Olympus not have an army to protect the kingdom? Surely the safety of the Gods and servants was important.
"Did you see any when we arrived?"
"No, and that concerns me."
"What concerns you?" Said a jolly voice.
"Lord Zeus!" The Einherjar bowed to the King of Olympus who smiled, "Why are there no guards around?"
At that Zeus laughed and it boomed like the thunder he commanded, "Guards? My dear, Andrew, we have had no need of them since our wars against the Titan's and their followers. They were disbanded once we were victorious."
"But what if you are attacked?"
"Attacked? Hahaha! Only fools would try such a thing. We have no fear of that. We are Gods. We have the power to protect our kingdom."
Despite Zeus' confidence, Andrew couldn't help himself from doubting the king's words. Gods are strong but even they were no match for Longinus' or overwhelming numbers. Could all the Gods of Olympus be enough to defend the kingdom? None were among the top ten, save for Hades. If an attack happened, and he hoped none would, the Valkyries, himself, and Thor would be the only warriors able to defend Olympus.
Library
After being shown to her quarters, the genius Valkyrie set off to the library in search of knowledge about Greek history and magic. Her grandma said her thirst for knowledge was like the Allfather's. Despite her dislike of Odin's perverted nature, the silver-haired beauty was still proud to be held in such regards. Odin did not become king by chasing after women, no it was through three specific things; power, leadership, and wisdom. His wisdom and leadership, along with his charm, were the reasons why Freya fell in love with him.
Her shoulders slumped. If Freya could see Odin attractive why couldn't the men of Asgard do the same with her? Did men not find smart women attractive, did they only care about looks and sex? Not entirely true. While many men, and women, desired good looks and amazing sex, some desired a smart partner in their relationship and there were many smart women aside from herself who lived in Asgard.
She shook her head to banish the gloomy thoughts. She wouldn't let herself get caught up in them, especially not on a mission. She had to keep reminding herself of Thor's words.
"I will get a boyfriend! I just haven't found him yet!" She told herself as she returned to reading.
"There you are!"
Rossweisse looked up to see Thor and Sigrun approaching her. How ironic of him to show up after thinking about his encouraging words. She closed the book and returned his smile with one of her own.
"Hello, Thor. Sigrun."
"I thought I might find you here. Already delving into the knowledge about Greek magic I see."
"Since we're going to be allies I thought I might have a look there culture. Who knew Greek and Norse Magic could be so similar?"
"Is that so? Then maybe you can show us after you spar with us.
Valkyrie cocked a brow at her best friend's words. Thor and Sigrun wanted to spar with her? Surely it could wait after the talks are over.
"I don't know…"
"Come on, Rose. It's just a spar. Zeus himself said the talks would commence in three days. Also, I was hoping you could figure out why I'm still having spell casting issues."
Seeing as he was still having issues the Valkyrie agreed. Rossweisse returned the book to its shelf and followed Thor. The Son of Odin was right, this spar would allow her to analyze not only his spell casting issue but his combat skills.
Twenty minutes later they found Sigrun standing in the Olympus sports arena. She had been waiting in the Olympus sports arena for two hours for them to show up and at last, they had.
"So you have got here at last. What took you so long? Did you go make out behind a bush?"
"Sigrun! We did no such thing! You shouldn't tease about stuff like that!" Rossweisse chastised her best friend. "You never told Thor where you would be waiting for this spar."
"Well, you found me now." Sigrun laughed before a grin spread across her lips, "So, Thor, are you ready to feel the wrath of the Emerald and Silver duo?
"The Emerald and Silver duo?" Thor repeated as he cast a look between the two Valkyries. Was that seriously their team name?
"Let's just do this." Said Rossweisse before summoning her armor.
Thor called forth Jarnbjorn. Thunder crackled along the handle as he readied himself to face his friends. Sigrun said they were an unstoppable team once. Now it was time to see if that was true.
"Sigrun! Rossweisse!"
The trio paused as Hermes came floating down between them. What was the God of Messages doing here?
"Sorry to interrupt but Brynhildr is looking for you both. She needs to speak to you about something important. She's waiting in the plaza."
Sigrun sighed as she withdrew her sword and armor back into her pocket dimension, "Looks like we will have to wait on that spar. See you later, Thor."
"Wait a minute, Rose!" Thor suddenly said, preventing the silver-haired warrior from joining her friend and the god. After taking a long look at her he spoke, "On the Bifrost, before departing to Olympus I asked to speak with you in private. We aren't alone but I may as well ask anyway. Why did you kiss me?"
There was a breeze in the air as the Valkyrie felt her cheeks heat up. THAT was what he wanted to talk about? He wanted to know about her kiss? All she did was peak him on the cheek. Trying to keep a calm face she looked him in the eye and answered truthfully.
"I told you it was for protecting me. There was nothing romantic about it."
With that, she took to the sky and followed Hermes to where her commander waited for them. As they did Rossweisse spoke to her best friend.
"Did you really suggest I be part of your spar with him?"
"Is that really a problem? The two of them could have been trouble even for him."
"Maybe, but we are on a mission."
"Come on, Rose, one spar won't ruin the objective we are here for."
"She's right." Added Hermes, "Zeus is very lax when it comes to everything. Even security…"
"What?" Sigrun asked.
"It's nothing to worry about. Let's not keep Brynhildr waiting."
Thor in the meanwhile watched them until they were out of sight. Releasing a long deep sigh he swapped his armor for his suit and departed the arena, his mood soured by the spar being canceled and Rossweisse's answer. There was nothing romantic about it huh? She only cared about him as a friend? He thought she cared for him in a romantic way, he was wrong.
So deep in his thoughts, he didn't realize he collided with someone until they gave a yelp. Suddenly becoming alert he found himself face to face with
"I am so sorry I didn't-"
"Oh! Hello again, Thor."
It was Eris and she had a smile on her face.
"What a surprise running into you again. What were you doing at the arena? I assume it has to do with those who flew away with Hermes?"
"That's right. We were going to spar then Hermes needed their help."
"I see. Well, I'm not big into fighting but I can show you around Olympus so you know where yours are."
So the two went off on a grand tour through the home of the Greek Pantheon. From the highest point, she started lending him down each level and showing the hotspot the servants and Gods visited. Museums, bathhouses, gardens, and even a zoo. All were extravagant and beautifully crafted but what surprised the God of Thunder was that not a single cinema, restaurant, or shopping district could be seen anywhere.
I guess Olympus isn't as populated as Asgard.
At last, they reached the end of the tour. Right, where Thor first came to Olympus.
"What's beyond the kingdom?" He asked, looking down upon the land.
"Nothing but, plains, trees, river, hills, and rocks." Eris shrugged, "If you wanna go out and explore, be my guest. Just make you depart on this level. This is the only way in and out of Olympus via teleportation. Just think of the ground outside and it will take you there. So what do you think of Olympus?"
"No offense but it's kinda dull. It isn't like Asgard where it's a sprawling city with shopping districts and civilians."
"That's because we have our fun in Greece. We always visit their shopping districts and cinemas all the time. Why waste time building it with your kingdom when you can experience it with humans?"
"Because, unlike Olympus, the other Faction's dwell within realms separate from Midgard and are home to many beings, not just Gods and servants."
"That is true. However, the Greek Gods are the only Pantheon known to live in the human world. We also have interacted with humans the most. But enough about Olympus, tell me about your people..."
Olympus bathhouse...night
"So THAT'S why he was so grumpy?" Herja asked.
Night had fallen onto the kingdom and the Asgardians were given the privilege to use the bathhouse. All ten Valkyries had gathered and now were either relaxing within the stress-relieving water or lounging by the pool's edge. They had just finished listening to Rota about Andrew. Most weren't happy.
"Sounds to me like he's just trying to make excuses to have us feel sorry for him," Schwertleite said as she rolled her eyes.
"It is no excuse, Schwertleite. I read the report on his death. I may disapprove of his attitude towards us but he died protecting his sister. If he has finally opened up to Rota then hopefully he will do the same for us." Brynhildr said from her side of the pool.
"Maybe, but I agree with Sigrun. An apology is not enough to earn back my trust. Where is he?"
"With the children." Rota answered, the others stared in surprise at her words, "There is an orphanage on the seventh level."
"Why is there an orphanage?"
"To take care of not only our servants' children but human children who lost their parents." Answered a newcomer.
A tall woman stepped into the bathhouse, her towel was loosely wrapped around her revealing a slender but toned figure. Her pink hair was tied in a bun and her eyes shone like gold, beneath the left side of her lip was a beauty mark. To the Valkyries this Goddess was unknown to them, save but one, the commander Brynhildr had met her in their last visit to Olympus.
"Aphrodite, it is a pleasure to see you again."
The Goddess of Love smiled, "And you as well Miss Brynhildr. These must be the girls who serve under you. I am pleased to meet all of you."
"Thank you, Lady Aphrodite. So you have an orphanage but not a school?" Alruna asked, trying to keep the conversation going.
"It is both an orphanage and school. Artemis and myself care for the children with other servants. What? Did you think my title as Goddess of Love meant I only love men? While I do find men attractive, I love all; men, women, children, old and young. My love for the children shines brightest, for they are the future to ensure both worlds, human and supernatural, live in peace. Speaking of men, did I not hear you speaking of that Eiherjar of yours? The Greek named Andreas Mandrapilias. He told me what happened to him, from his life as a child to joining Asgard and coming to Olympus. I understand you are upset at him for how he has treated you and your fellow Asgardians but demanding more than an apology seems much."
"He insulted my best friend and tried to harm her just to pick a fight with Thor!" Sigrun shouted, her eyes ablaze with hate at the old memory, "He should be grateful to us that we gave him a second chance to live. He didn't thank us or open up to anyone save Rota and he did that after we came to Olympus."
"And it was your Queen who started him on the path of forgiveness by allowing him to come along with you." Retorted the Goddess calmly, "I would feel the same way if I was in your position but I would not latch onto that anger. I would let it go and try getting to know him."
"We tried that and all he did was lash out or ignore us." Grumbled Helmwige.
"But he has learned from his mistake! Honestly, you're all being too hard on him. We've all had friends like Andrew. Besides, none of us ever spoke to Rossweisse." Rota pipped in.
"That's because I chose to focus on my studies." The silver-haired Valkyrie answered from her side of the pool, choosing to stay out of the conversion until her name was brought up.
"But we never spoke to you until we graduated. You and Andrew are not so different."
"Don't compare him to Rossweisse!" Snapped Sigrun, "They are not alike! Even after graduating you still all ignored her! Andrew chose to ignore us! He-"
"Sigrun. Please let it go." Rossweisse interrupted her best friend. The waters of the bathhouse were said to have powers to release stress in a person's body. Guess Sigrun has a lot since she was lashing out so much tonight. "What Andrew did was disrespectful but it's over. I met him on the way to the bathhouse and said I forgave him. He was very grateful and is hoping the rest of Asgard can do the same. It's just like what Lady Freya said, forgiveness is the first step in healing old wounds. We must forgive Andrew and allow him a second chance."
Rossweisse's fellow Valkyries looked at one another. The Queen of the Valkyries and Aphrodite both said they should give the Einherjar another chance and Rota said he is trying. Perhaps they should.
"You may forgive him but I won't. Not yet." Said Sigrun definitely, with a sour look on her face.
Rossweisse sighed, all these grudges had to be put aside for the sake of a peaceful future. Was she, Freya, and Odin, the only ones willing to do so? Not all of Asgard supported the Allfather's idea of peace and sharing of their culture to other religions. Loki was always disagreeing with Odin's ideas, perhaps it is his Jotun blood that makes him do so, Jotunheim did prefer being isolated after their empire collapsed. Nevertheless, he couldn't be so blind to see Asgard was falling apart and needed help to become strong again. If the Nine Realms can unite in harmony then so can the Supernatural World.
Suddenly the sound of footsteps was heard entering the bathhouse. Now, who else was joining them tonight? Rossweisse turned her head to see the newcomer. Suddenly a voice broke the silence. A voice belonging to a man. A man they all knew.
"Damn steam! I can't see anything! Hello!? Anybody here? Andrew? Hermes? Zeus?"
A silhouette appeared before stepping through the steam to reveal a very confused Thor Odinson wrapped in a towel. As soon as he saw the girls he froze like someone who had just gazed into Medusa's eyes. All ten Valkyries stared at him in surprise, their bare bodies visible to him. The Goddess of Love, did not look surprised nor ashamed to have him see her naked, in fact, she had a look of amusement.
The silence continued before it was broken, not by the girls, but by Thor.
"I am so sorry! I was told this was the men's section!" He cried, spinning on his heels.
"Do not be afraid to see us unclothed. Come join us."Aphrodite said.
"I...I shouldn't. I...I'll-"
"You said this was the men's section? Actually, there are no sides. Our bathhouses are gender-neutral. Men and women can bath together but why does this bother you? Have you ever seen women naked?" said Aphrodite, a sultry look twinkling in her eyes.
The Valkyries blushed at the Goddess' words. None of them had a man see them naked before. Then again it is Thor, he is very handsome and the way he is acting is cute.
Thor listened to what she said, the bathhouses were gender-neutral? That meant… He frowned as he listened to what sounded like laughter in the distance. Damn Goddess of Chaos. She lied saying Zeus wanted him to meet at the bathhouse. He should have realized something was afoot but did not notice until now.
"Come, Thor. Come join us."
Not wanting to refuse the Goddess' offer but wishing to allow the women to bathe without being stared at, he turned around and made his way to the pool. The journey was slow and difficult due to having his eyes shut, however, the attempt was quite amusing to watch hence the Valkyries stifled giggling. He was certain this incident would be talked about not just on Olympus but Asgard as well. He blushed at what the Asgardians would think, Odin would obviously laugh and say he's just like him but what of the others say, what was Rossweisse thinking? She probably thought he was a pervert, especially since his eyes had lingered on her the longest.
Suddenly he heard the sloshing of water, the patter of feet approaching him before, and then a soft wet hand taking his hand. "Right this way, your grace. That's it."
"Rota?"
"That's right. Just take it slow and steady."
While Thor was helped to the bath by Rota, Rossweisse was blushing furiously. How could she not, this was the second time seeing the God of Thunder in a towel, and like before was finding it difficult to look away. His body had changed since last seeing it; his toned body had now bulked up. His muscles had grown and were visible for all the girls to see, they were big but not to the point where he was a walking wall of pure muscle. Despite the wonderful view, he was giving her she couldn't forget the fact that he saw her naked.
"Come now, boy, you can open your eyes. Seeing a girl naked isn't that big of an issue."
"L-Lady Aphrodite!?" Yelped Rossweisse.
"Why would you say that!? There are lots of issues why he shouldn't see us naked!" Growled Ortlinde.
"I don't see a problem in that."
"S-Sigrun!?"
"Enough!" The commanding tone of Brynhildr silenced her Valkyries, "Lord Thor, open your eyes when I say so."
Thor obliged to the blue-haired commander until she said he could look. When Thor opened his eyes he saw the girls were either submerged in the pool or sitting at the edge wrapped in towels that failed to hide their curves. He spotted Rossweisse blushing madly that he was allowed to look upon them - upon her - undressed. Only her neck and head were visible within the pool. At least he didn't need to keep his eyes shut, he was having difficulty and wanted to see what the bathhouse looked like.
The room was large and covered in steam but through it was white marble flooring that shone like diamonds by the moon's light. The giant circular object along with the twinkling stars was visible to the bathers by a glass roof and cloudless sky. The hot watered bath was just as big as the room, able to fit a whole bus in it. The Greek-style columns seen everywhere in Olympus were surprisingly not seen anywhere within the building. Guess they saw them as a nuisance within a room meant for bathing and relaxing.
"So, what did you need Rossweisse and Sigrun about, Brynhildr?" Thor asked as he reached the edge of the bath and dipped his feet into the water. He refused to go in all the way knowing he would have to remove his towel which he would not do in front of so many women.
"Lord Odin's plan for the peace talks. I forgot you are part of the talks too, my apology." Brynhildr said.
"No worries. Rossweisse can tell me later. Anyway, since I'm here I'd like to get to know you all."
"How fun!" Rota chirped, her breasts bouncing slightly as she turned to the God of Thunder, "I'll go first. I guess I'll start by saying why I joined the Valkyrie Corps. It was my mother's last wish which she was lucky enough to see before passing away. I love traveling to Midgard, it's so beautiful to walk among the human world, eating Ostkaka, and entertaining children. Which reminds me, Andrew should show me the orphanage. Alright, who's next?"
Her fellow Valkyries exchanged looks with one another before they gave a brief explanation about themselves. The reason for joining the Valkyries, the skills they possess, their likes and dislikes. As Thor listened he discovered each one was different from the next, one liked reading, another ensuring Asgard is protected, and so on. When learning about Sigrun's desire to become the next leader of the Valkyries and see the real World Tree, it brought a smile to the redhead's face. If she found a way to see the real Yggdrasil he hoped to be there with her.
Soon it came to Rossweisse and all the Valkyries turned their gaze towards her. They all knew the story about her but would she still share it? Surely she would have to since the Prince of Asgard asked to learn more about them, including her.
With some reluctance, Odin's bodyguard spoke, "During my school life I put all my efforts into studying, which allowed me to graduate early."
"And help become a genius. Really Rossweisse, I just don't understand why men haven't asked you out? I understand you have your duty as the Allfather's bodyguard but surely that shouldn't stop you from being allowed a relationship."
"Her "duty" isn't that important, Rota," Sigrun said rolling her eyes, "I was her replacement one time, the things he has her do...at least Lady Freya never to have her slippers fetched or-"
"Refilling his morning coffee, Thor interrupted, the unmistaken growl in his tone startling the women, "The duty as a bodyguard is to protect, not be a maid."
"Did you really punch the Allfather?" Alura asked.
All eyes were on him now when the question was asked. The story about him punching Odin in the bar had spread and everyone, save Rossweisse, was eager to know if it was true.
"Yes." He grumbled, the girl gasps at his answer, "He's a pervert! Instead of being a wise and noble leader he, along with Poseidon, are perverts!"
"Thor! You shouldn't speak that way about your father! I may hate the tasks he gives me but it's still my duty as his bodyguard."
Before more words could be said Aphrodite cleared her throat loudly, "I think now is time a good time to go to bed. Despite the misinformation given to you, it was a pleasure getting to know you, Thor."
Agreeing with the Goddess of love, it was time to leave the bathhouse. Time to clear his mind of the anger slowly building in his head. The God of Thunder rose to his feet and was about to leave when there came many audible gasps from the girls.
"Oh my. I didn't expect you to be THAT big." Aphrodite said with amusement.
Thor was confused by what the Goddess of Love said. What were she-his eyes widened behind his fingers as he felt hot air between his legs. Screaming as if he had been caught in the act of stealing cookies he grabbed his towel and ran out of the bathhouse as fast as he could.
As the women tried to dispel the image from their minds. Sigrun looked at her best friend with amusement. Either it was due to the warmth of the water or her reaction to the incident but Rossweisse's face was as red as it could be.
"So Rose, are you sure you don't have feelings for Thor?"
"Sigrun!?"
Olympus slopes
It was dark, the mountain the gods called home was quiet as a mouse, all were asleep, all but one. Thor Odinson strolled the slopes of Olympus, he was wide away. He was awake for one reason and reason only; the Valkyries and Goddess of Love seeing HIM naked. Walking into the bathhouse was bad enough but revealing his manhood to then was quite possibly the most embarrassing moment of his life, at least until something more embarrassing tops it. He tried to sleep it off but the surprised expressions of the women, of Rossweisse, kept replaying over and over in his mind thus he chose to stroll the kingdom and the grounds around it.
He cursed himself for not checking if his towel was secure enough. If he had then the Valkyrie Corps wouldn't have been scarred. Rossweisse wouldn't have been scarred.
This has been quite the day. Meeting Eris and Aphrodite, walking into the bathhouse, and...
His lips formed into a frown at thinking of the silver-haired genius. She didn't have romantic feelings for him but did he? If there was one thing he was grateful for the Church teaching him it was emotions, the feelings of joy, rage, loss, and love. He had no love for the Church and never will but Rossweisse… He couldn't deny she was beautiful. She wasn't just beautiful but smart, the smartest woman he knew, and anyone would be grateful to have her as a friend.
...or a lover...
Before he could think more on that though, he heard a rustling noise in the bushes behind him. Spinning around with hands raised to defend himself he suddenly blindsided into a boulder. Thor was dazed, it felt like a thousand bells were ringing in his head, and everything was a blur. Who attacked him and why? The answer was given when his vision cleared and he found himself surrounded by monsters from the Greek Pantheon.
It was a pack of Minotaur's and Chimera's, with a Cyclops towering over them. The bull-men chuckled wickedly and the Chimeras snarled, flames licking the edge of their mouths. Thor grimaced, why were Greek monsters at Olympus border and why didn't Eris warn him about this? If -no- when he returned to Olympus she better have a good reason for this.
"Lookie here." Said the largest Minotaur, a great hammer strapped to his back, "a little warrior from the North has decided to take a morning stroll. How foolish to come out here all alone."
"These Norse men are not welcomed in Greek. Nor be friends with Zeus." Growled the Cyclops.
This put Thor on alert. How did they know of the peace talks between Asgard and Olympus? Now he really had to fight his way back to the mountain. There was just one problem, Eris didn't tell him how to get back to Olympus!
"Hey guys, no need to fight. Can't we talk about this?" The monsters answered his question with drawn weapons and a slow advance.
There goes a peaceful resolution.
Tensing his muscles, Thor began forming seals within his mind. He was lucky he was wearing his armor on this morning stroll, Baldur's advice to be prepared for anything came in handy.
"Alright then…COME ON!"
Raising his hands he unleashed the same spell successfully performed the day of his first mission. The bolts of thunder came flying towards the enemy and, like the poor dummy target and wall, were run through, electrocuted, and burned. However it didn't hit all his foes, only two fell while the others scattered before counter-attacking. Managing to score one more, Thor flew into the skies, only to be smacked back to the ground by the Cyclops. The young God was left wide open for two Chimera to pounce upon him, their mouths opened wide to tear into him.
Refusing to become a chew toy, Thor summoned Jarnbjorn and swung in the hopes of hitting the Chimeras or backing off. The Chimeras chose to dodge the mighty axe. Yet even as they did a Minotaur lunged toward Thor, his weapon poised to strike the God. It was brave to try but foolish as he soon learned when Thor bashed the axe haft, which was charged with thunder, into its stomach. The monster's cry of pain was drowned out by the roar of thunder as he went flying into a column of trees.
Once he got back to his feet, Thor readied himself for more foes. None dared to approach him for fear of what he may next unleash thus allowing the Thunder a moment to catch his breath.
"I don't suppose you can tell me why you're attacking me?" He asked.
His answer was sneering faces and a loud battle cry before the Cyclops rushed him. Facing a Troll was difficult but a Cyclops will be a challenge. A challenge he was eager to meet.
Suddenly, before the God and Cyclops could battle, there came a loud cry. Thor looked up in time to see a man jump off a large boulder towards the Cyclops. He was tall, two meters by the looks of it, with a well-built body and shoulder-length gray hair. The outfit was Greek armor over a school uniform. He was obviously greek because of the armor but who exactly was he, another God or one of the Heros?
As the stranger threw his fist forward a bright glow appeared around his upon and upon impacting the Cyclops face unleashed a powerful explosion. The one-eyed giant roared as he was sent crashing to the ground with a loud thud.
"Who are you?" Thor asked the man.
"Later! First, we fight!"
And fight they did, the stranger lunged at his next foe, a Chimera who met the same fate as the Cyclops. As its corpse fell to the floor a Minotaur tried to take him from behind only to have Jarnbjorn come flying into his head. Despite now having no weapon Thor ducked and weaved around many attacks countering with punches and spells. After defeating his sixteenth foe, the enemy, at last, retreated into the woods. The battle was won as the first light of day crept over the horizon.
Thor leaned against a tree to catch his breath, those monsters put up quite the fight. If he was being honest with himself he may not have been able to defeat all of them without that stranger's help. Whoever he is he was grateful for his timely arrival.
During the fight he had caught glimpses of the warrior, he was clearly a master of hand-to-hand combat but what was with those explosive fists? Could it have been fire magic or perhaps a Sacred Gear?
"I believe this belongs to you?" Thor looked up, there was the Greek warrior, Jarnbjorn in his outstretched hand.
"Thanks for the help. I was worried I would have to face them all alone." He said as he took Jarnbjorn and stored it into his pocket dimension.
"I'm sure you could have beaten them."
"Your help was nevertheless appreciated. I'm grateful for it. You are quite the fight."
"As are you. You have proven you are very capable with weapons, magic, and fists."
"My hand-to-hand comparison pales in comparison to yours." Thor said with a chuckle before offering a hand, "I'm Thor. Son of Odin."
The stranger smiled and shook the offered hand.
"Heracles. Son of Zeus."
